[Q] My Prime can't play RMVB after .13 update - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

It worked well before .13 OTA update, after that I thought it was some bugs in .13 so I wait till .14 but still not being able to play a single RMVB file ....
I have tried to store it in different locations including micro-SD , SD card, USB drive and internal storage. None of it work for me...
I use MX Player and Mobo player in this case.
one thing I notice, when I turn on my prime (not from sleep) and immediately get into file manager and play the RMVB file, then it's working again until I leave the program and back to home, it won't play again...
wondering if anyone has the same problem as I do.

here is the picture when I encounter the error message
please help if u know how to fix that~ thx in advance

anyone has the same question?

Can you upload a sample?

very nice of u replying me =D
I am out and could not get a sample yet, but will upload more details of what rmvb I tried to play.....

thank you for inspecting my problems! and hope this piece of info would help

I have the same problem. MX player simply cannot play any rmvb files. Mobo Player can only play some of my rmvb files.
Those are the same rmvb files that my Prime used to play perfectly on MX player.
Any help please?

hey!
I found a way to fix this ~
try move your rmvb files to yr prime's internal storage under /video
MX Player will automatically search these files and I manage to play those file just like what I can do before .13 update
but it only works when those file under /video .... this is kinda annoying but I can still watch some of my fav movie on prime for now... lol

[Q] Why cant my phone play this file?

Sorry if this is a noob question but when i read around i thought that the S2 could play mkv's with the x264 codec as it has a h264 decoder. But When i play this file it doesnt have the stock option to play and MX player cannot do H/W decoding (has sound though) and S/W Decoding is horribly slow. I use the FoxHound 2.0 ROM. Any way i can play this or optimise my phone?

Have you tried dice player?
Dice player says it cannot playback the file... Is there something wrong with my phone?
You should be able to play mkv files, perhaps something is wrong with that particular file you are playing? Did you try with some other files..?
Its fine on my pc. And the phone is fine with mp4 and 3gp. What should I do specifically to troubleshoot the problem?
Try a number of different players . Its the format of the file not your phone at fault .
jje
But its a mkv? I dont see wheres the problem...
Is it because its using Hi10 bit encoding?

Goggle codecs and you may understand the vast differences and multiple formats of video files . No player can play every single format even if the container is playable .
Check the SGS 2 video specifications for playable formats .
To put it bluntly the format of that files is not playable by SGS2 stock music player a different format MKV file may be playable .

If you look at the media info though it uses x264/h264 and AAC which i read should be playable along with the container MKV. Or is there something in there that can't be played?
Is anyone able to tell me what it is so i can avoid putting stuff like it on my phone to play?
Hi10 bit is a rather "new" and "unknown" compression, so there you have your problem. I can't even play those on my computer. If you're able to, download another version. If not, wait for a player to support the compression system.
Is hi10 something that must be decoded software or hardware wise?

If it's too new (within the timeframe the S2 was developed), it won't have hardware support to decode. So you will have to use software or re-encode the video in Handbrake to something that you can decode with hardware support.
Thanks for the information.
In your opinion has S/W decodign ever been bad for you? Or slow for the S2?

Setup Nook for nfs stream on local wlan

Okay so I didnt really come across alot of central material on how to do this with Nook or if it even could. Since storage capacity is an issue most HD content is probably not going to be getting stored on most users tablets. I would guess that alot of users already have lots of content on their personal computers. If you have a decent wireless router configured correctly it shouldnt be a problem to be able to stream this content to the nook. The nook tablet has a decent amount of ram and the cortex a9 is more than sufficient to stream, so i was bored and figured id give it go.
What you will need to do this
Rooted Nook Tablet 8gb or 16gb shouldnt matter - for documentations sake im running aokp milestone
Personal Computer with somewhat organized media structure
Hanewin NFS Server Easy to setup in windows
BusyBox Installer Latest version of BusyBox - BusyBox Installer is what we used
MX Player seems to be the best android video player ive come across
Neon Codec is compatible with our processor and is necessary for decoding files with dts audio
Its important to organize your movies into a single folder if possible to decrease on mountpoints. If you must use different folders, try and name them movies1 movies2 movies3, etc
After organizing download and install hanewin. Make sure UPnP is enabled on your router it saves you from having to fwd ports later on.
Open Hanewin in the general tab uncheck UDP and check version 2 and 3, and check TCP.
On the server tab, Check "allow mount of remote devices", check "Reset innode table", check "convert windows drive letters", and check "utf-8 charset"
On Exports Tab, click on edit exports file. You need to setup like this:
Code:
my\path\towindows\folder -name:movies
my\path\to\someother\windows\folder -name:movies2
once you have entered all of your shares, save the file as exports.
now click restart server button on the right hand side.
you should see your mounts show up in the box.
Now download and install busyboxinstaller on your nook
type in mount script in busybox installer on the scripts tab by clicking the plus sign in the top right
name the script whatever you want
then in the command section type the following: You do not have to put the extra /sdcard/movies2 or so on if you are only mounting 1 folder
Code:
mkdir -p /sdcard/movies /sdcard/movies2 /sdcard/movies3 /sdcard/movies4
busybox mount -o nolock,tcp,hard,intr my.pc.ip.address:/myfoldermnt /sdcard/movies
the -p option on mkdir will check to see if the directory exists, if not it will create it
the mount command must be formatted exactly the same swapping out mypcipaddress for your local lan ip, and myfoldermnt for whatever you called your nfs share in your exports file, then mounting on the directory /sdcard/movies
once finished save the script and run it, then use root explorer to check and make sure /sdcard/movies exists and has your nfs content inside
you can set this script to run at boot also, if you are not at home no worries it will just error out and continue booting without you noticing
Setting up the Nook
Download Neon Codec
extract the neon folder to the root of either your internal or external sdcard
Download and install MX Player
Once installed configure it. Your movies may show up in the folder, dont attempt to play them yet.
click on settings and goto decoder
Make sure "Use h/w+ decoder" "h/w decoder local" "correct aspect ratio" are checked and nothing else
Now scroll to the bottom and you should see "custom codec" click it
navigate to the sdcard where neon folder is located. click on neon then click ok once the folder contents are displayed
MX Player is now setup, completely exit out of it
This next step is important because without it the h/w decoder buggers out and you are stuck with software decoder
navigate to main settings for tablet, enable developer options
scroll almost to the bottom and check "disable hw overlays"
now would be a good time to set your custom mount script in busybox installer to run at boot
now restart your nook
Open MX Player and you might not see your content, click the refresh symbol at top right and it should appear
select your movie of choice and go
enjoy full hd movies on your tablet!!!

I can't play any playlists with my Lenovo A820!

Hi,
I have J river MC 18 (last stable 175) and I have android 4.1 phone. I use a official ROM. I use SD card of 32GB kingston. My phone is Lenovo A820.
In MC I have many list of music. For write in sd card from MC I use this format:
Music\[Album] - [Album Artist]\
For sync list I use m3u (full paths). If I read (in txt mode) the synced m3u file I can read this:
K:\Music\Café Del Mar 04 - VA\Café Del Mar 04 - 02.mp3
K:\Music\Café Del Mar 04 - VA\Café Del Mar 04 - 06.mp3
So, the m3u file is correct. In m3u file there are 193 songs and all it's ok.
the problem is that when I try play this playlist, in the playlist since in the app phone, there are only 120 songs (not 193). So the app in the phone only read the list with 120 songs!
I try this apps and I have the same problem:
Winamp
Google music
Poweramp
Songbird
Poweramp
Playerpro
MC work fine because m3u file it's ok (in there there are 193 songs). So I suppose that is a problem of my phone? but in ALL applications I have the SAME problem!
Any of my songs there are the name with special chars (Ááè...). I've seen that ALL lost songs in the playlists have special chars. If the name of the song is "café del mar 12" there song don't play in the list. But if the song file name is "cafe del mar 12" there song is played ok in any program. The mp3 files are sync well. The m3u files are sync well. But when I try play the playlist from the phone many songs are lost (only the songs with the special chars).
Any solution for this?
Sorry for my english
kind regards
the problem was that the m3u files are in ANSI and the phone only accept UTF8. If you sync a playlist with m4u or m3u in utf8 works fine..
you can use this Script.vbs:
Code:
Set stream = CreateObject("ADODB.Stream")
With stream
.Open
.Type = 2
.Position = 0
.Charset = "utf-8"
.WriteText CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject").OpenTextFile(WScript.Arguments(0), 1).ReadAll
.SaveToFile WScript.Arguments(1), 2
.Close
End With
Wscript.Quit(0)
with this Script.bat:
Code:
For %%X in ("*.m3u") Do (Script.vbs "%%X" "%%X")
you execute script.bat in the same directory of ANSI m3u files and will convert to UTF8 m3u files.
good luck

[TUTORIAL] This method can make sound in ubuntu on android.

this method can make sound in ubuntu on android.
this is a demo.a friend told me about this method.my device is new nexus 7(2013)
I will make a tutorial on xda-developers.
make a audio server on android.and ubuntu send the voice to android.the audio server play the voice.
this method is not real time, have delay.when play music, parse the music,it didn't parse immediately ,go on play about 10 seconds, and when resume ,the music is played from later seconds.
1.unzip the android file.7z, on android install the IRB.apk file.
run IRB,then sdcard have a directory jruby, audioserver.12.rb put here.
go to IRB,find scripts,select audioserver.12.rb,and execute
2.in ubuntu: install socat and perl, use "apt-get install socat " and "apt-get install perl"
3.unzip asoundrc.7z ,put .asoundrc into /root,
In .asoundrc uncomment this line:
pcm.!default "myfifo"
4.unzip audiofifoloop.1.tar,put audiofifoloop somewhere, To allow multiple ALSA applications, can configure
audiofifoloop. Find these two lines at the beginning:
$multi = 0;
$sleep = 1;
Set $multi to 1 and $sleep to 0.
make it executeable,and run it
then you can "aplay *.wav" in terminal, check is ok?
and can install smplayer to play music ,make sure the audio driver select alsa.
can play video in youtube but only html5.I played some but didn't smooth.
View attachment 2214234
View attachment audiofifoloop.1.tar
View attachment asoundrc.7z
I have a very simple method:
1.you can play musice use some player in android,at the same time in ubuntu termianl to do "alsactl store" to save the soundcard parameter.
2.close the player.and in ubuntu terminal do "alsactl restore" to resume the soundcard parameter.
3.then you can use "aplay *.wav" to play .
but this method does have more effect.I don't know.this only some point.
{ in android stock player or google player maybe couldn't ,you shoud find some other player,i used is chinese app 天天动听 } this method only sound in output like headphone,no sound in speaker.

Hello, i'm trying to get this to work.
I would like to know what image from sourceforge.net/projects/linuxonandroid/files/Ubuntu/ you used when testing this.
I have two problems, first when executing the audio server script it seems like i'm getting an error that I can't see that you get in your video when you execute it (but it's hard to tell in the video cause it's only visible for a second so i'm not sure) imgur.com/PckDNyC.png
and then when i execute aplay a.wav i get
shm_open() failed: Function not implemented
So i don't know where to start to fix this, need someone with understanding of how this works to help me out.
I followed the method and it worked fine... Does anyone know who to quit the audioserver when i am finished. i found nothing that would do it.. and had to restart phone.. any help would be appreciated.
