[MOD] WebCM10 - WebOS-like app switcher [03/10/13] [PA/CM10/CM9/AOKP] - TouchPad Themes and Apps

Here is my release of WebCM9/10 - a WebOS like App Switcher.
Supported roms:
CM10 03/04/13-?
Schizoid 03/06/13
CM9 Nightly 03/03/13-?
Files for older roms can be found in the archive
WebCM9/10 will probably not work on any other roms (including the uninstallers).
Only 120dpi, 132dpi, and 160dpi are supported. Other DPI's will not look right.
WebCM10 in Action - thanks to RolandDeschain79 for creating the video
Make sure to create a backup in CWM or TWRP before flashing this.
Downloads:
WebCM10 for CM10 03/04 (with battery stats)
WebCM10 for Schizoid 03/06/13
WebCM9 for CM9 03/03/13
Flash with Clockworkmod or TWRP
If you'd like more detailed instructions check out ncinerate's write up.
Instructions for WebCM10 for Schizoid:
1. Flash zip in TWRP or Clockworkmod
2. Change these settings in Settings > Paranoid Settings > Apps > System UI:
Phablet mode (only 160 dpi is supported in this mode, make sure Force Tablet UI is unchecked in Settings > Rom Control > General UI):
Size: 160 dpi
Layout/UI: 600px
160 dpi Tablet mode:
Size: 160 dpi
Layout/UI: 721px
132 dpi Tablet mode:
Size: 132 dpi
Layout/UI: 900px
120 dpi Tablet mode:
Size: 120 dpi
Layout/UI: 960px
3. Reboot after changing these settings
4. When you change from Tablet to Phablet or vice-versa you may get stuck on the boot animation. You'll have to force a reboot with the power + home button if this happens.
Known issues in WebCM10 for Schizoid:
Right side of thumbnails get cut off in Phablet mode due to the extra notification bar
Bottom of portrait thumbnails get cut off
Changes in WebCM10 for Schizoid:
Tablet mode rebuilt to support Schizoid (mainly overriding the AOKP bits)
Portrait is spaced correctly (as in PA)
Changes in WebCM10 for Paranoid Android 2.99:
Rebuilt from the ground up (again) to support PA (may also work in 4.2)
Portrait is now spaced correctly
Known issues in WebCM10:
Portrait is not spaced correctly
Bottom of portrait thumbnails get cut off
Changes in WebCM10 12/11
Added clear recents button
Changes in WebCM10
Rebuilt to support CM10
Changes in WebCM9 0.4
Switched back to dip from px, should increase performance and things scale better with dpi changes
Created separate layouts for 120, 132, and 160dpi (any other dpi may not look right)
Fixed stretched dismiss button at 120 and 132 dpi
Built this version in such a way where no original xml files are modified - new files are used (makes for much simpler porting)
Some layout fixes
AOKP support
Big thanks to Dubi for finding the file that controls the resolution of the thumbnails.
Other:
Build WebCM10 with clear recents
Build WebCM10
Build WebCM10 for AOKP JB MS1
Build WebCM9 0.4 - Simply copy the files to the respective decompiled APK folders and then recompile (for a different tablet, adjustments will have to be made the the dimens.xml files, and the folders will likely have to be renamed).

Interesting app looking forward to see your progress...good job

very nice.. gonna give this a try

Downloaded. Installed. Works Great!
Using this @ 160DPI, works fine in portrait mode also. Black bar I'm assuming is from where the status bar would normally be, looks like it belongs though.
Performance seems fine. Only part that doesn't seem fluid is the flicking the apps up and away. I am running my tablet at 1.7 instead of the standard clock speed as well. Keep up the good work.

Added new version!

What happens if im using a dpi that isnt supported?
Im using 140 dpi right now

Should work just fine.

This is sweet
Card view is my favorite feature of webos. I like this mod a lot. Not sure if it would be possible to execute from the home button, but that would be bomb. Nice work!

Added version for latest nightly (2/28) to the OP.

Out of curiosity, would this work on CN rom?
Thanks

Not likely. It'd have to be ported.

I finally installed this and its awesome. I'm at 140dpi and it works great. The only thing that needs work as you said is portrait mode.
---------- Post added at 07:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:38 AM ----------
The only suggestion i have is that the stock version not change the battery at all.

Unfortunately, it replaces the battery files. There is no way around it.

Ok i see. Its not dificult to reinstall desired battery style anyway

I put it on them all
I have a TP. My wife and son do too. I was playing on my machine and they saw my set up. Needless to say, everyone loves this. I got a nice fix for my flashing habit installing on their machines. Thanks again.

I so glad I came across this. This is great.
Can you add the circle2 battery mod. That is the one I love to use but I can't add it after I flash this without loosing this hack.
Thank you again for your great work.
Gary

I'd say go ahead and upgrade to AOKP Milestone 4, it is built in and does not interfere with my mod.

Having issues with this now after the latest Nightly update (20120312-1621). Errors on boot. No system tray. Just a bunch of symbols in the error box. (like 1$2$%#). Reflashing update over this fixes though.

Yup, that's why I said only up to 3/9, some things changed in 3/10 that broke it. I just updated it to support the latest nightly.

FIXES & OTHER THINGS
(1) If you are on T-MOUS and are having problems with MMS see this for fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8981441&postcount=250
(2) If you get an error downloading any apps such as "Angry birds" try un-mounting your SD card then install the app and then mount back after it is installed.
(3) To switch to 2G or any other use the included "network" app.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
- Extract build to your desktop
- Place "Android" folder on the root of your SD card
- Unzip a data.img below in your "Android" folder (optional for faster first boot)
- With keypad lights on, run "CLRCAD.exe" then "haret.exe"
- First boot will take up to 10-20 minutes unless you used a data.img below
First boot setup
- I recommend waiting 5 minutes before unlocking the screen the first time on first boot. Everything seems to go a lot smoother that way.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are 2 versions now. V0.4 Has the blue battery and has the clock mod to remove it from the status bar (see below for picture) and V0.4A has the clock in the status bar and also has the circle battery meter (see below for picture).
I recommend starting with a fresh data.img but you should be able to use the same data.img from V0.3 without any problems

hi motoman,
will the cmd line "wifi.mac" work with mdeejay's kernel? I am asking because I would like to try this build but it has mdeejay's kernel and 4-6mA stand by is promising. I am always using hastarin's becuase the wifi mac change works for me.
thanks.

That's a good question, I don't have anyway of testing it right this second but I have seen M-deejay put that in his startup.txt before so it's worth a shot. If it works for you let me know and I will add it

Looks good. Thanks for your effort and sharing.
just to update, wifi.mac works. At least I can use the real mac address. Tint fix works for me.
@Moto, no heat intended, do you have, by any chance a comparison between MCCM's update of this same build of mdeejay?
thanks,
jm

Glad it worked for you. As far as the changes go, I'm not sure all what he did besides kernel fixes but I changed some graphics and tweaked a few things to the build itself (to my preference, not saying it's better by any means). If you booted both you should be able to tell overall. Everyone has there own idea of modding and customizing builds, you know? I wouldn't of released it if it was the exact same thing. I think he likes to keep everything the way it looks, which is good too. Just giving people options

Yep! This was one of my all time favorites too so I thought I'd share! I just hope people don't think that I am trying to start some contest with mccmjoon76 or something lol. You shouldn't even be able tell they are from the same Inc build soon. All the credit goes to M-deejay since he was the original creator of the Inc build for the HD2 as far as I know. I respect both of their work.
By the way, I checked our dropbox and you did some really awesome work with those digits. I updated our conversation text.
Hi, how did you get your battery indicator?
motoman234 said:
This is a build based on M-deejay's froyo INC build with some graphic and system tweak changes done. You may be asking what the difference between this and the other froyo INC builds out there. I try to customize my builds to make them look different from others. I was making this build for me to use but I figured it would be selfish if I didn't share
Droid_Incredible_Remix V1.0 features
-Based on the Android 2.2.1 update
-Full 5mp camera with zoom
-PPP only
-Multilanguage
-Very loud sound
-DSP manager
-ril_wrapper from letama for better data connection
-Using M-deejays S6 kernel (Very stable for me)
-4-8mA in standby
-Updated graphics
-Added spare parts
-Removed all Verizon apps
-Removed most bloatware
-Others I am forgetting, will post them as I remember.
-A lot more features and changes to theme to come!
What's working?
-Everything that is working in other builds
What's not working?
-My only complaint is the camera still has the green tint.
FIXES & OTHER THINGS
A work around for the green tint in pictures is to go to camera settings and under "white balance" choose "Incandescent". I am aware of the build.prop fix but it brings on a lot more problems with the fix. I will try to have it fixed in the next version.
First boot setup
-I recommend waiting 5 minutes before unlocking the screen the first time on first boot. Everything seems to go a lot smoother that way.

I've been having the same problem with a few of your Sense builds..
While going in to edit the APN settings, I randomly receive a force-close for com.android.phone........ I followed your instructions on first boot and am now trying my second reboot. Is there any solution for my dilemma?
EDIT: No luck even after running TerminalEmu "su", then "fix_permissions"..

Camera worked like a charm! Data seems fine for me though. Loaded up tasvideos.org VERY quickly, although I can't vouch for the disconnects/reliability (yet). And I apologize for posting; I didn't even notice you posted that in your fixes

[CG ROM][RC2.3][9/21][AOKP][Jelly Bean][HTC VIEW]

I am naming this ROM with my wife's initials CG as a token of appreciation for her support of my work on this project.
Also credit should be given to Chaosz-X, as part of our ROM was based on his work (mainly the vendor config files).
We have moved to RC release which means it's fairly stable and with most functionality supported. But it doesn't mean it's fully working there are still some bugs and some functionality unsupported see below section to see what is not working.
Also remember that this is not a ported rom it's build from scratch with official HTC HC kernel source modified to work with JB AOKP, so it's very stable but the progress is slower since the degree of difficulty is higher. So be patient.

That's because it's build from aokp tree directly, if you have use cm9 or aokp or any other aosp flavor rom, this is how small it usually is. But it doesn't have gapps. so you need to download those separately.
Well, installed, but it doesn't seem to be booting. It just stays at the initial HTC screen. I'll leave it be for a few more minutes, but if it doesn't work, I'll upgrade to Honeycomb and then try flashing it again.

Makes sense. The files for my phone that are built from AOSP are always smaller than the original ROMs, too.

Already started the process to upgrade to HC. I'll keep that in mind for next time, though, if necessary.
Flashing right now
Edit: Ok so from the few minutes i been playing with this the only bugs i notice are:
Red perimeter around the screen if i remember that has to do with the drivers
A occasional lag with the keyboard
the nav bars look too small but once i went into rom control and changed the nav bar width back to default they looked better
Whenever I long press anything on Trebuchet or Nova the screen rotates and then rotates back real quick not allowing me to move the item or anything
I downloaded and it installed on top of Honeycomb without a problem. This looks very promising!
yncconsulting, are you interested in feedback and bug reports at this time, and is this thread the right place for it?

Edit: Ok so from the few minutes i been playing with this the only bugs i notice are:
Red perimeter around the screen if i remember that has to do with the drivers
A occasional lag with the keyboard

I saw at first the same issues with the red perimeter and not being able to drag an app to the desktop, but this has fixed itself after installing an app from the Play Store.
EDIT: oops, now the rotate-when-drag-to-desktop effect has reappeared
Thanks for the ROM its working great the only issues I have run into is with the homescreen transitions little laggy. A few forced closes when I use the ROM settings and tried to change the theme. Any chance of getting a Sense 4 integration in the future? Or any Sense for that matter I know that this is huge having a working ICS but I really like having a Sense in there too. Again great job guys.

Wow, sounds great.
I know over on the E4GT you have to be VERY careful about how to flash an AOKP ICS build, what recovery to use, what kernel to use - lest you brick your rig.
Any special precautions here?
** Thanks so much for this! Should I assume that the pen will work everywhere with this rom as it does in HC?

Guys, hate to bust your bubble...but this is an Alpha-release, which means more things don't work than those that do. Please read my original post, this release is for ppl who are curious about ics, want to play around with it.

It doesn't happen for me, wanna share a video of how that works?
Don't need bug report as there are too many and we know it. Unless you have some ideas or suggestions on how to fix the issues.

Okay, on this ROM now.
I've seen a couple of the bugs that the others have seen, but no big deal for me. For the rotating thing, a reboot put it back to normal for me.
The biggest thing I've noticed that actually does matter to me (other than the rotating thing above) is that scrolling can be wonky at times. If I flick too fast, it won't scroll very much, or it will just bounce a little bit where it is. I sometimes have to follow through with the motion all the way for it to smoothly scroll, in any direction. If you need a video of that, just let me know.
You're off to a better than excellent start. Of course there's bugs that need to be worked out, but you've gotten further than anybody else has, so kudos!
Not that we don't want to but this is source from aokp which means its pure google android without any HTC add on.

Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0T9vUtBDOQ
I'm first long pressing an app icon on the desktop, the screen rotates twice while I keep the finger down.
I then enter the apps menu and try to long press a widget, then swipe over to the apps section and long press an app, both with the same effect.

[SOLVED] CM10 Hybrid - Rotate Lockscreen

I am posting here so as to not clutter JamieD's CM10 thread.
Currently:
-Phablet Mode - Small
-Apex launcher
No matter how much I play around with System UI and Android System, the DPI does not change for the lock screen.
I am trying to increase the DPI and rotate to landscape.
Any help would be appreciated.
******************************
SOLVED - Installed JamieD81's latest PA ROM All is good.
- paranoid settings
- Apps
- Android Settings
- 720PX
- I personally changed to 213DPI
Playing around with Google Framework at the moment, doesn't seem to be helping at the moment.
I think the System UI might do it. ..though I changed it and haven't been able to get back into tablet mode. After making a few changes. pad.prop is really finicky.

I'll try playing with System UI again. Wasn't successful previously. It seems that some setting changes do not seem to stick perhaps?
BTW, even though I could get the dpi changed it still wouldn't rotate for me.
And backup your pad.prop. I was testing with mine now I can't get it to go into tablet mode again. I re-flashed the ROM to get a clean pad.prop and I can't seem to get it to change from 320. Grrr. Do you have access to post your pad.prop?

I think I changed it to Tablet UI instead of using the slider. My slider wouldn't go over 170. I'm sure I messed up my pad.prop.
I just checked. In cm9 it was Google Framework to change lock screen. Doesn't seem to be working with cm10 though...

Trying to Hellraise Chameleon v1.2 - Samsung/AOSP hybrid?

Not sure if anyone else noticed this Rom over in the I9100 forums but it looks great. Pretty much the best of both worlds the smoothness of a Sammy Rom and the some of the best functions of a AOSP Rom such as dialer, SMS, contact, etc. I tried to use the Flash-aholicsTool with no success. It seems to process it okay but when you flashl the rom you'll get a lot of "System UI' has stopped working errors.
I might be in the minority but...this looks like it would be a great rom if someone with a LOT more skills then me was able to make it run.

Seems like a nice rom...I think I'll give it a spin...the Chameleon v1.2 rom I was referring to is based on the latest sammy release XWLPU 4.0.4.
Thanks
Hopefully you full wiped before flashing. If not that could be why it isn't working for you.

No I did a full wipe....with a format of the normal (data, system, etc) actually tried multiple times.
I was able to get it to work. I had on force close for android.phone but once I cleared it I was able to use and make a call without issues. I did not test out the Chameleon v1.2 very much. Just was curious.
So here is what I did.
1. Flash the rom completely and then booted it up completely.
2. Hold down the power button until the popup appears and choose reboot, then recovery.
3. Choose the Chameleon add on if you want it. (I did this step).
4. Go back to recovery and choose the i777updater-Chameleon I made and flash it in cwm. It will give you the mic swapped siyah kernel 4.1.4 and add other files for our button config, CSC files, etc.
5.Reboot and it worked for me. Again I did NOT thoroughly test for it as it just seems like a version of CM9 or something from my very limited use. Hope this helps.

I had that same problem the first time I flashed it. Then I went back in and flashed it again and had the one force close but then it all worked after. On the first flash it seemed to me like it was an issue with the cwm recovery version. I was on cwm 6. and when I went back to recovery I still had cwm 6. and thought that was weird unless they were using it as well. Then when I flashed it the second time, reboot the phone, went back to recovery to flash the add on then I had cwm 5. then I rebooted the phone again, then again went to recovery and flashes the zip I made to fix the button and all. I am not positive here but it did start working for me.
I only tried it out for a short time, maybe 30-45 minutes. It just seemed like a version of cm in a way so it wasn't of much use to me. I didn't really see any of the Samsung stuff in it.

OK I am downloading it again and will try to check it out. I will change a couple of things like the contacts.apk or phone.apk or? since that is the error that I saw. If I can get it to where it is stable I will send you a pm with a link to my edited version of it. I am just gonna kang it because there has to be something that can be done for us. I am NOT saying I will port it and post it anywhere. It is their work. I will just see what I can figure out for personal satisfaction and then share with ya what I did.
Solely because it is bugging me seeing that it isn't working. I have NEVER had an issue with ANY i9100 rom not working so gonna give it a try.
Sent from My SGH-I777 Running Red Reaper Rom
That'd be awesome, RockRatt. Let us know what your experiences are.
FYI, the phone crashes are presumably due to the CSC files from your updater zip. The ROM dev took out all the CSC stuff, and I did not get those crashes prior to your zip. The problems I am having are: SystemUI crashes unexpectedly and frequently, and "Preparing USB Storage, checking for errors" will sometimes remain in status bar permanently after boot.
The SystemUI crashes remind me of the ICS leaks back in the day that no one could figure out. Finally I think Entropy (who else?) found out it was related to mms APNs or something. I don't quite remember.
It's strange b/c we have been able to run i9100 ROMs with only kernel and keylayout changes. Not sure why this one would be different.
Things I have tried:
Full wipe, format system AND sdcard
Run ROM without external sdcard
Run ROM with inlcuded (SpeedMod) kernel to see if more stable
remove Busybox, unroot
Reinstall Busybox/Superuser
playing with APNs
switching modems
I think I got it all to work properly. So far NO issues at all. I will upload it and shoot whoever wants it through a pm. Again this is NOT my work so I cannot put it in here. I just got it to work and put it into 1 zip file to flash. I replaced the original kernel with siyah 4.1.4 mic swap from AJ. So shoot me a pm if you want it.

Use Ktoon's Flash-aholicsTool. It works perfectly with this rom.
EDIT: Data won't be enabled by default; after booting and going through the setup wizard, tick "enable data" and on the next reboot, it will connect.
I guess there's something either with my hardware, or with the way AT&T's network is where I live. Seems you and RockRatt have no issues, and others like me and OP have nothing but. It's weird because I can't think of any other I9100 ROMs being this device/region specific.

I had issues too. That is, until I used Ktoon's tool. What did you use?
I know i mentioned this to all who pm'd me and dont know why others have issues with it. I had it run for two days with no issues at all. And i used the EXACT same zip on my phone as those I gave it to. AJ also asked for it so MAYBE he can figure it out if he wants to or has time. I didnt plan on using it too long anyways, even with no issues for me and it did seems smooth. I like using CM10 or one of my ucle5 roms personally. It just didnt have enough for me to stay on it. I like more of a themed rom and it is basically a look alike (graphics wise) as CM9 to me. I didnt see anything of the samsung apps or asop apps I cannot get with CM10. Hope for those that are determined to get it working figure it out. Personally AJs UCLE5 is just as smooth and fast without glitches of any kind. My roms I made were based off his work and they just work. When i like living on the edge i use CM10 which also flashing it every few days pretty much cures my flash addiction.

Tips
Use an alternative launcher
I've included the stock AOSP launcher to keep everything, well, as stock as possible, but I've noticed Apex or Nova to be smoother
Turn on Force GPU Rendering
Ok I don't know the why's and how's or even if this is 100% correct but I've made some observations about GPU rendering in AOSP and Samsung ROMs:
Samsung ROMs seem to respect application manifests with regards to GPU rendering. If an app's manifest has hardwareAccelerated=false, the Rom won't use GPU rendering for that app.
AOSP ROMs seem to have GPU Rendering always enabled (despite what the Force GPU Rendering checkbox says in Settings) and override the hardwareAccelerated tag in applications.
I've noticed much smoother scrolling in applications which have hardwareAccelerated=false if Forced GPU Rendering is checked in Samsung ROMs. Root Explorer is a good example. Try it yourself - open up Root Explorer and fling the screen up and down a few times. Then exit (properly, using the back button, not just clicking the home button) and check Force GPU Rendering in Settings. Open up Root Explorer and try flinging the screen again. Massive difference.
For a smoother and more AOSP-like experience, tick Force GPU Rendering.
Chameleon ThunderBolt! Addon
I've selected a some particular scripts for Chameleon from pikachu01's awesome ThunderBolt! collection.
Better performance, better battery life through Linux kernel tweaks catered for Android OS and flash memory.
Better battery life and performance through usage of screenstate_scaling whereby it switches thresholds/VM tunables depending on your screen state.
Less RAM usage through zipalign.
The screenstate_scaling addon will perform VM scaling and governor tunables scaling to get the best of battery life and performance.
TCP_Buffers script in /etc/bolt_scripts to increase TCP buffers for better network performance.

FAQ
I'm already on v1.0/1.1 Do I need to full wipe to use v1.2?
No, a non-wipe flash should be fine, although if you encounter any issues please perform a full wipe and test again before posting about possible bugs. If coming from any other Rom, you must wipe.
I just flashed it and my phone is running like a snail
As with all new installs, give the media scanner time to do its work and the system to build caches etc before judging the performance of (any) Rom
MTP is not working on my Mac
Make sure you have Android File Transfer installed, and, oddly, click on Camera (PTP) in the USB computer configuration dialogue

4.4.4 Quick settings tiles squashed after DPI change

Hi,
I followed the steps in the create rooted update thread, my bootloader is unlocked.
After flashing the flashable zip & running Nextapp SD card fix & rebooting then running DPI changer to change the DPI from the default of 480 to 361 the quick setting tiles are all squashed to the left side & there is big gap on the right. I have tried different DPI's but it always looks the same unless & set the DPI back to 480 which is too big for me & widgets get truncated etc.
Have attached a screen recording in the zip file as I can't take a screenshot as the notification drawer closes to show the power menu. Is there anyway of fixing this without xposed or setting the DPI back to default, have searched but can't anyone else with the same issue.
Cheers.
Anyone have any idea's on how to fix this? I made a backup with Philz recovery first before flashing the flashable zip & this quick settings tiles thing is making me slightly OCD so if no one can help then I will just restore the backup.
I asked about the same thing a while ago and someone said there's an xposed module that let's you put more icons in the same row, unfortunately I don't remember the name of the model, Im looking for it too

Thanks for the reply
I would rather not have to use xposed at all due to past experiences with it, everything was fine on .314 4.4.2 firmware, get the feeling that it is happening due to the way sony have changed the editing of the quick settings.

I set the following stuff only:
Enable: Change quick setting width (for Z3 style)
Quick settings width (px) = 320 (i use 320 dpi, i'm not sure if you have to set the same as dpi but in my case it worked)
Enable: Change quick settings
Didn't mess with any other options as i didn't need it, hope this helped.
Cheers mate
I use 361 dpi so will probably try setting the width to that, bit annoyed that Sony changed how the quick settings are edited as that seems to have caused the issue, didn't have it on 4.4.2 .314 firmware.
Edit The 270 default seems to be the best one for me, tried some others but some of the tiles were cut off on the right.
