Alright thanks for letting me know because im getting an xperia s next week whit rogers and really wanted the gnex for that feature but guess no need to take the gnex

I've used it on my sensation and it works pretty well. Low lighting situations are pretty frustrating but you are given an alternative unlock option when those occur.

My nexus s is on official 4.0.3 and they removed the face unlock feature.. due to the low VGA camera
I was thinking "that's stupid"
So I flashed my phone with a ics rom with face unlock and I can tell you one thing... its HORRENDOUS
Probably 9 times out of 10 it won't work
Should only work well if the camera is 1.3mp+

i can't find any face unlock in ICS of Xperia S, can anyone help me?

Tried it a few times on my Galaxy 2. Worked first time every time, but then I went to work ;-)
Most of my day is on the road or in customers premises. Worked fine at the customers though I did get some strange looks. However on the road its a pain in the butt. You have to wait for the camera attempt to time out before you can use the pattern to unlock. I have gone back to the swipe.

i just got it so how can there be a problem already?!
everything else is fine just the launcher is lagging..
Try full wipe of the phone, everything is smooth here unless i connect HDMI which is a different problem
done the reset and NOTHING changed.. im a bout to return this baby
It's because of gingerbread I think.. I have seen ICS on the Xperia S, and it's an amazing difference. If you can stand it as is for a couple of months then you'll be up for a treat.

I don't think it's gingerbread since most people don't have that problem.

Can't see much difference to be honest... I had mine for two weeks now and I can easily say it's as smooth as the iPhone 4s.. And yes my brother had one so I can compare..
My complaints are with some force closes that I face with a couple of apps but that's a different issue which is related to the app itself..

Most people don't have the problem because they are not noticing this "laggy-ness". It's something most people doesn't think about. As for me, I think it works pretty well - but ICS is gonna be better.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk
Very visible for me. I hate that. Must.. Be.. Smooth..
Some widgets needs to get tweaked. Very choppy when scrolling to them.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
It really lags but not the widgets just when i scroll through the icons in the launcher it stutters badly,,,
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
My phone is insanely smooth, not choppy at all.
Obviously if you have like 5 of those animated weather widgets on a screen it will probably jump a little between screens, but yea, you have 5 animated weather widgets .
Do you have a different launcher? maybe you have a really heavy launcher?
I seriously have no problems, and I am really picky if I have weird lags and such.
Maybe you have a lot of background apps running?
Maybe the update to. 67 could help?
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
& no i dont have much running just 370 mb ram free.

Weird :/
Well I updated as soon as I got the phone, so I have no idea if that is an improvement or not. So I am not sure what to tell you

As per my issue I would Luke to inform you to make a checklist about your needs and try to match on gsmarena with your checklist. I hope you will find your best one.
Another thing is no device are fully compiled for all sort of needs like surfing, gaming, music, video etc. Every device has its own pros & cons, you will find these over gsmarena too.
Please update us about your needs and your selection. So that this thread will be helpful for other's whone looking for it.

Large screen is not that important for me. Good battery, yes. I would prefer sense but with my requirements, it doesn't fit my budget.
My requirements:
GPU for HD Games
Camera 5MP or above
Screen resolution should be good
At least 1 Ghz processor
And some other basic needs that now a days are fullfilled on almost all the handsets. Oops and also xda support/development of tons should be good.
For the above specs, I found Neo V to be beneficial. Any other suggestions ?

I don't really know how much your budget is since my currency is the Euro but for your requirements (mine were pretty much the same) I would buy Xperia Play (if you're really into gamming). I also considered Neo V but I wanted a bigger screen and the physical controls are really awesome. Neo V is around 160€ in my country and I bought Play for 200€, not that much difference.
I'd recommend a galaxy S. Strong gpu beautiful screen flash and good rom development..

****.. now I'm really confused between these three phones:
HTC One V - doesn't have front camera
Sony Ericsson Neo V - less internal space and a bit old
Samsung Galaxy S - less ROM
Above phones have its cons. I'm from India and here, 3G is not yet fully established. It might take almost a year or 2 for it to get established fully.

Don't buy the galaxy s. Its a nice phone but very old and Samsung has stopped supporting it. You're better off with the Sony or HTC phone that you've mentioned.
Ps.Sony phone gets official ics.

Neo V has CM9 support from FXP Team and also we (TeamXperia) ported AOKP to it so its handy
One V would be the best choice if you are looking for a newer phone
All depends on price, if they are similar price then go for one V

Do your research on the phones available to you and make up your own mind. Never and I mean never get a phone based on how many Developers the phone has because you will be disappointed when the next best device comes out and the Devs move devices as they tend to do.
In closing make up your own mind

Typical get my beautiful Xperia s back from repair and worse then before

Feeling now like I have married a beautiful wife but she never stops nagging. ( ok I have and she doesn't just incase she reads this >:~} )
Had the yellowish tint and it was getting it worse then sent it off to Sony came back a month later with ICS installed but nfc broken and I use it all the time and getting FC even using contacts aaarrrrrggghhh if it goes back to them I may just give up and jump ship grrrrr
6 reboots and countless FC's and gave up installing the rest of my daily needed app's that never gave trouble before.
Just a *****ing post.

You can try installing ICS again using SEUS.. It may help
Was debating about that, or could get a hammer to it >:~}
But would not bring much satisfaction cause one blow and its done!!!

just calm down and breathe, take a step back and youll see things much clearer.
Things like this can sometimes be easily fixed with one click of a button. Repair it with SUS.:fingers-crossed:
Just try repair using PcC or SUS, many issue can be fixed but just give it a go mate Gud luck

Oh brought back to stock few times and did a Sus as well but before did that went into config and this forced the nfc which is good but not the proximity which is real bad.
So now thinking of slow painful death on the phone drip of acid in the jack slot may do it >:~}

NFC has issues on the stock Roms. Try a custom Rom and see if it works better or even drop back to gb. Stock ice is buggy.

True, and not that it brothers me rooting and fixing, but really annoys me that we spend plenty of money like lemmings on devices that are really below standard.
It its usually the second version of all manufactures devices that the bugs are ironed out.
So now have to spend hours of my time fixing the crap that should not have been there in the first place. Companies are now out sourcing the support for their devices to the crowd. If only they would reduce their prices to match the poor support!

[Q] CRT TV tube lock screen effect?

Actually at least with sense, they haven't been able to implement it since ICS. They did something to prevent us from using it.
With aosp it works, it worked with jellybean on my one xl
Slithered from my HTC One X+
Thanks for the replies everyone looks like I'm going have to wait till Jellybean is available for AT&T HOX+. I tried to mess around with the framework-res.apk but the phone did nothing. That's if I did it right.
