[Q] How To Root Xperia Pro MK16I 4.0.2.A.0.62 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if there is any (tested) method of rooting xperia pro with firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62. My phone is unlocked. I have no idea if my bootloader is locked or unlocked...
Some say they rooted this firmware, some say they failed, and I would like to know for sure if there is any way to root it.
The reason I want to root my phone is mainly to remove the annoying preintalled apps.
Any help would be great. Thanks!

How To Root Xperia Pro MK16I 4.0.2.A.0.62
I had to downgrade the software back down to version 4.0.2.A.0.58 in order to root the phone. My thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22619413#post22619413 refers.
Unfortunately, as yet, nobody seems to have posted a simple method of rooting the phone with version 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Cheers

I have a rooted 4.0.1.A.0.283.
Will the phone stay rooted if I upgrade to 4.0.2.A.0.62?
Thanks in advance,
Danny

as long as you update it OTA it should keep rooted.
updating with PC companion will remove the root access

Well thanks... That was I guess the best help I could get here... I guess this section isnt much helpful...
I am HTC user and not used Sony much before.. My brother got Xperia Ray and he wanted to install some rooted applications that my HTC has with Latest OTA...
I didnt know much about Sony so therefore I called for help... I had to spend almost 6 hours to learn everything about it MYSELF.. First 4 hrs spent on solving the problem that FlashTool was just searching for my Mobile and Not detecting it..I couldnt even Update it..:-S
Atlast I had to update via Wifi.. i didnt want to do in first case coz I was afraid of Bricking it via OTA which I read in many threads here.. But then Had to take risk..
You guys cud hav saved me 6 hrs by just spending 5 mins on replying me what to do...

Not 100% sure but you may unroot after updating. someone can confirm.
i have locked bootloader, so i don't know if there are problems with unlocked, but my neo was rooted on .42 and stay rooted after .62 ota update.
If you unlocked your bootloader via se official way then no you will brick your phone with a fota update, if you unlocked with setool2 paid for method then you should be fine, but i'm not sure about the setool1 method.
Why not flash with flashtool ?
NO WAY DON´T DO THAT YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!!
Use wotanserver or other way.

thanx for that info! Not really thinking of updating but dat notification kinda annoying..
any idea of removing/deleting that notification without moving to .62?
one more question... if i flash with flashtool the .62 firmware, will my bootloader still be unlocked?
Sure it will be unlocked.
The bootloader as nothing to do with the firmware.
To root you must to flash rootxperia.zip through recovery, it´s the easy way.
Search in the foruns and you will find the thread.

uninstall UpdateCenter.apk with titanium backup, or search for it with root explorer or any other explorer with root access.

I have a Neo bought unlocked with 2.3.3, I made OTA update and I briked my phone. After restore, first I flashed with a new 2.3.3 and after used x10 flash tool, I rooted with DoomLoRD_v4_ROOT. I received that is a new software update available, I was affraid to do it by OTA and I done with pc software update from SE. After update I still have superuser app but my neo is not rooted.
How can I root it again without any flashes or downgrade. Is out there any app working? I tried with Gingerbreak, SoperOneClick v2.3.3 and DoomLoRD_v4_ROOT, but no result.

How is you bootloader unlocked? Official way, s1tool or setool2?
And you can't root .62 without downgrading first to .42. But I guess that trick only works for bootloaders unlocked NOT BY OFFICIAL way, but still not sure, that's why I'm asking you.

Use Flashtool to put back the .42 or .58 software, root it, and then update via Update Center on the phone. After the update, the phone will be still rooted until you do a factory reset.

[Q] Xperia mini pro rooting help

Please tell me how do I root my phone? I have the build 4.0.2.A.0.62. I didn't find any proper guide. please help me.
4.0.2.A.0.62 cannot be rooted, because the exploit has been fixed.
Currently, you need to downgrade to older firmware(.52 or .58 for example), that can be done either with WotanServer or with Flashtool(requires correct files), then root with program in this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346198. After that, just make OTA(Over the Air) update to .62 firmware, root stays(at least it stayed on my LWW).
