[Q] CM9A2 dim brightness to webos dim brightness - TouchPad General

On webos, you have the lowest brightness, then the autodim brightness, which is lower than the lowest brightness you can adjust via a patch
is there a way for enable this dim brightness on CM9?

well, to reply to myself, i found an app called rootdim that can force lower brightness to hp touchpad patched to run on dim brightness

Awesome! The lowest brightness on cm9 is a bit too bright for dark situations, so this app will hopefully work wonders.

[IDEA] Brightness Control for AUTO Brightness

I figured this would come along by now but for some reason it hasn't. On my iPhone I could set my brightness that the auto brightness would adjust accordingly. Because the auto brightness is generally too bright or too dark. Also maybe adding some timing controls for how long before the auto brightness adjusts. The displays in these devices suck down the battery like crazy this would help significantly.

I too thought we might have seen this by now. I know there have been some tweaks in ROMs, but a slider that sets the sensitivity or the upper/lower limits would be excellent.
u talking about this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708660
extended controls has a auto brightness controller sort of if thats what your looking for

Extended controls has an Auto Brightness setting, same as Froyo Power Control widget.
What OP wants is auto setting where you can control sensitivity of light sensor.
Ok I'll try explaining again. Communication isn't my strong suite. Basically, on an iPhone you can set auto brightness, then under auto brightness checkbox you have a slider that calibrates the brightness throughout the range of the ambient light sensor. So it's still a brightness control it just works in conjunction with the auto brightness setting. Being able to fine tune the brightness throughout the range of the ambient light sensor would be a bonus because with the current auto brightness I can barely see the screen in daylight but it's not maxed out because I can still adjust it all the way up with the power control widget and the opposite is true at night, i could go dimmer at night and still see the screen clearly. Strictly copying the functionality of the iPhone wouldn't fully address this. An app would be ok I suppose but I'd much rather see a system mod. I really hate apps like Trackball alert, nothing against the author I just don't like running an additional app to address the lack of a feature in the OS itself.
Good thought
I agree completely. I'm a recovering iPhone user and the adjustable auto-brightness is a feature that I desperately miss. One of my top complaints about android.
This idea is fantastic. It's something I've been thinking about too (never knew iPhone has it though)
When indoors I sometimes find auto brightness too bright. When outdoors and its sunny sometimes its upper limit is not bright enough. In both situations I have to turn off auto.
Actually last night I noticed that auto brightness was dimmer than the lowest brightness setting. I reckon that a lower/dimmer threshold should be available too on the manual brightness settings.

Auto-brightness on HOX+

I just realized something weird. I used my phone in a completely dark room and I was blinded by the bright screen on auto-brightness. I couldn't imagine that it was on the lowest setting in a dark room and switched auto-brightness off; and indeed with manual brightness I could bring the slider much more down to darker levels. Is that normal that auto-brightness doesn't go down to the lowest brightness levels?
I also don't like the auto brightness issue, it was too bright in a dark room.
I end up buying Lux from the play store and it address my problem.

I am no fan of auto brightness inside of buidings either.
Outside it is handy, but indoors I switch to a widgetsoid app toggle on my homescreen with 5%/25%/100%/auto steps
25% is more than enough indoors, with 5% in dark rooms.
But with the advance of custom ROMs the auto brightness settings will be adjusted to more suitable values, I believe.

Auto screen brightness -- too dim in dark environment

It works, it's just that it over compensates in the dark.
I know there is probably not much that can be done about it, just thought I'd ask.
I think the Auto brightness is adjustable.
I agree it gets too dim, but works fine in normal lighting conditions.
The brightness is adjustable, manually. I have not found any means of adjusting the bounds of the auto brightness mode. It is the low intensity limit that needs adjustment.
I would like to be able to have a feature like adaptive brightness like what's on pure Android without a third party app...

While on auto brightness tap the sun burst directly opposite the checked auto brightness. Voila!
0-50-90
But then the whole phone goes dim. We want the brightness of the 2nd screen to stay bright at all times so we can see it.

Awesome! Didnt know about that feature!
I find the auto brightness is a little too dim. I would prefer if it was 10-15 points brighter than what the algorithm chooses. Now I leave auto brightness off in most cases of active use

Reduce brightness level

Hey guys so problem is my screen flickers a bit when I turn the brightness to max. So is there anyway to set the maximum brightness level through build.prop or somewhere else so that when I move the brightness slider it shouldn't go too high.

auto brightness too low

Since I got the a21 I noticed that when I'm out with auto brightness on it adapt to the sun but once I'm home the brightness slider goes all the way down
and pretty much stay there unless I go near a light.
Is there a way to recalibrate the auto brightness?
