Battery Life - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I know there are some people experience battery issues, but I've experienced none. Running on the latest build .15, This is after leaving it unplugged over night at 100% to then moderate use all day (Youtube, Email, Browser, Pinball, Sprinkle, Music, Camera, Video Cam).
I'm happy to say the least.

Cripes!!!
Is that with or without the keyboard attached?

Without Waiting for the price to drop a bit before I buy it, it will drop soon I'm sure.

The battery is so good on this thing it's not even an issue. I never check battery stats or anything like that.
Can go through a day no problem, always on performance mode.

I am sure that that battery statistic includes plenty of standby time, since it is unlikely anyone would be playing pinball for 24 hours
I get similar battery life with my Prime. A day and a half or more with moderate use and normal downtime (like when I am sleeping). I am pretty sure I could leave this thing sitting in standby mode for weeks and still come back to it and find usable battery life remaining.

same here and i just plug it in when i get home.

On update .11 I was getting 2 1/2 days (tablet only) with the same moderate-heavy use, always-on WiFi. About 4 days on standby.
Update .14 I guess is doing better than .13, but I only get 2 days with tablet+dock and about the same usage as before. Haven't tested standby.

I've found battery life to go like this on .15, with auto brightness (which usually finds a good level for me) and Balanced battery setting:
1. Around .375%/hour on standby. That seems excellent to me, particularly considering that I keep wifi on and everything syncing in the background. I can't imagine getting better standby battery life unless I turned everything off, which I don't want to do. I like it that my Prime is up to date when I wake it up.
2. Around 7.5%/hour when doing things like ebook reading, VERY light browsing, etc. That also is excellent, meaning I can use the things for ebook reading for over 10 hours. Can't ask for more than that. Note that if I read outside in direct sunlight and Super IPS+ mode turns on, battery life is cut SIGNIFICANTLY. That's to be expected of course, and it's just as much of an impact as I imagined.
3. Around 15%/hour for heavier browsing, ebook reading, watching video, casual gaming, etc. That's a little less than I'd hoped, coming in at around 6.5 hours total.
4. Around 30%/hour for heavier gaming (e.g., Shadowgun). I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Seems like it's excessive, but then again this IS pretty intense gaming.
I can help these scores a bit if I run on Battery Saver mode, which will work for all but heavy gaming. Funny thing is, according to CPU Spy mine barely ever pushes 1300MHz or 1400MHz, no matter what mode its in. It spends most of it's time at 1200MH, in deep sleep, or in the lower (100MHz-400MHz) range. I wonder if Nvidia still has some tuning to be, and if performance and battery life can still be optimized a bit--it seems to spend TOO MUCH time at 1200MHz when that kind of speed doesn't seem necessary, and TOO LITTLE time at 1400MHz when that kind of speed would be helpful.

Wow! Great battery life OP. That guy named Ickii needs to see this thread. He created a thread on his prime getting bad battery life.
Same results here though. Great battery life in balanced mode and very heavy usage.

[Q] Battery life

Well, this question is for my lucky friends who have their new toys
Battery life is so good?
Post your test here!
Don't have screens for ya but battery life is more than adequate. My gf and I used it for about 5 hrs last night and it dropped to about 45%
(Games, xda, Netflix, and just tinkering around)
I'm curious what kind of battery life you folks are seeing, now that you all have had time to get some real world experience with the NT.
Thanks!
10 hours of continuous usage with 25% brightness.
Sent from my HTC Mecha using Tapatalk
Yea, the battery life and responsiveness of the device is definitely top notch.
I'm pissed as hell the bootloader is locked, but this device is an absolute steal for $250 bucks. Especially if you can manage to discount that price down.
Extremely responsive and awesome battery life considering I'm running max brightness and wifi 24/7.
I'm always surprised when I'm done using the Nook that it was still running. Granted, I ran it until it had only had around 20% left. But hey, if your sitting in one spot using your nook for more than ten hours, then you need to find something else to do. ^_^

Good book, nice day, under a tree? Done that many times just reading off my PDA.
Thanks for the feedback!
The battery life is definitely adequate.
I can usually go 2 day without charging thus far. I keep brightness at ~20% or so (I can't stand brighter, it actually bothers my eyes).
I also use multi-picture-live-wallpaper and it doesn't seem to drain my battery at all.
I do some pretty heavy use of it as I am reading on it and studying for med school for probably ~6 hours at a time
Battery life is great. BN's numbers seem dead on.
Lasted the flight from San Francisco to Sydney
I'm getting around 10 or so hours of use at 2/3 brightness. Battery life is amazing on this. I charged it last night. Took it off the charger at 10am didn't touch it till 10pm tonight. It was at 99 percent then. I think it turns off wifi when it's sleeping.

Yeah, it definitely turns wifi off on its own when sleeping
Yeah Ill echo the comments here, battery life is absolutely superb and the responsiveness of the unit for the price is fantastic. Sadly its a case of if only B&N....to fully realize what the tablet would be capable of.
I have to agree that battery life is amazing on this thing.
I've got wifi turned off full time (to avoid updates from B&N) and the battery just seems to last forever. Granted you always use less battery when you're not going online, but still, it seems to really really last.
Frankly it's making my phone quite jealous.
Umm, my nt's battery isn't as impressive as i hoped. I use 25% brightness, wifi on, no fancy live wallpaper. I noticed for every few minutes of sjurfing, battery would drop a percentage or so. For usage of about 3hr withoit wifi, i would use up about 40 %.
Anything i could do to tune it up a bit? I do noticed amazon appstore is always running, so is clock, contact, tb, and my yahoo mail app. Any help is appreciated.

That sounds about what I'm getting and I'm wondering whether it's defective or not (still within return window).
edit: Probably normal - ran into some threads on B&N's boards where other people are averaging 5-7 hours. If I idle / read, I get about 1% every 8-10minutes or so so B&N's time estimates were definitely not "video," "browsing" or "games." Wifi on, installing or rebooting a few times, it drops to 5-6 hours tops between 100% and close to 0%.
My phone gets -way- more time, even reading.
the battery on this is great one of the biggest things going for it. better than my phone for sure.
For you guys with bad battery life, you might want to try better battery stats. Then check for partial wakelocks. That's usually the culprit on my phone. It seems weird some of you are getting half the battery life of the rest of us. Personally I haven't even turned wifi off at all, and also haven't turned my brightness below half.
It's in the google market, it won't show up on the nook. I downloaded it on my phone then used the app share my applications then back up to sd. Upload to dropbox. Then download it with dropbox on your nook.

I looked at this (and other battery programs), but wasn't sure what they did. Now I sort of do. I'll check it out! Wifi on definitely uses up at least 20-25%ish extra battery, and I *have* been moving a ton of stuff to/from sd cards and uninstalling and rebooting a lot, but the above did seem very short. Too bad there isn't a battery hardware test
Failing those applications it may be worth doing a full reset; Especially since most other owners are reporting MUCH better results.
Before I start nuking things around, I used BetterBatteryStats, check for partial wakelocks, and the highest % is from ActivityManager-Launch, which occupies 0.3% or 5minutes or so since I fully charged it.
Also, i noticed "Wifi Locked" is extremely high, like 89%, whereas wifi On is only 26%. What does that mean?
I'm not fully versed in how Android handles power management. So what should i be looking out for? Thanks!

I have been using my TP docked all day. woke up this morning at like 9 with 100 on both dock + tablet and have been watching anime since . It's 8 now and my dock is 0 and my tablet is about to die as well. I'm at about 40% brightness, I was expecting better battery life though.
Sent for my Transformed Transformer Prime :>
I get about 4-5 hours use from it doing simple tasks in low power mode.... 12 hours is a lie, if i use it on and off i can make it almost al day but that is with very minimal usage.
So i say u get about 5 hours low power mode and like 3-4 hours in normal mode ( nonstop usage).
jzen: I suggest you rma for that battery life, I have a lot of issues with the prime but battery is not one of them.

Tablet only
100% to 74%
2.5 hours
Wi-fi on, gps/sync/bluetooth off... eco-mode with backlight way down and streaming Internet radio (screen forced on whole time)
I ran mine pretty hard yesterday.
12.5 hours from 100% to 7%.
No dock, all tablet.
Watched some Dexter on Netflix, Recorded Video, used max brightness, power save, full power etc.
Surfed, Streamed, GTAIII, you name it. Used Bluetooth while streaming / gaming.
That is far more than i would ever do in a normal day.
Gotta say I am happy. My Tab 10.1 only lasted about 5-6 hours under similar load.
I guess if I averaged out each day with normal use I'm getting between 9 and 10hours in normal mode with the screen at 50 to 75% brightness. I do a lot of gaming and surfing. Since my Prime is new I'm still am doing a lot of customization. That will tail off a bit and I suspect my battery life should go up a bit. I have not rooted yet though. When I do charge it takes about 2 hours to go from under 10% to 100% on the wall charger and it turned off. I'm real happy with that.
Try this one on for size!!!
Here is my battery usage...though I will say that I am testing it for a battery spike usage so I did not use my prime at all during this time period...and you can see the issue I am having with the spike...but this is after a full charge with minimal use of just the browser from time to time....I am curious if anyone else is seeing this kind of battery spikes:
100%-29%
6 hours - at this rate I'd get roughly 8.5-9 hours out of a total charge
Tablet only, power save mode, screen forced on, low brightness, wifi on, bluetooth/gps off, streaming internet radio...
Tablet + Dock
100% tablet/100% dock to 7% tablet/0% dock
12 hours
listening to music, running TuneIn radio app in the background over wifi, screen forced on, lowest brightness.
bluetooth/sync/gps off.
Playing games, music playback, stream videos from desktop, youtube. prime only. About 7-8 hours on power saving/screen brightness 2 notch up from lowest.
Cheers!

Frequently, battery "spikes" are just where there's no data for a moment--in otherwords, if you reboot your Prime, during the reboot there's a gap in the battery recording data that then looks like a spike on the graph. It could be that.
Sure the prime can idle for 2 days or more but if your interested in actual batter life during use it is realistically about 6 hours of battery life on just the prime. The dock will help you to get another 4-6 hours.
Again, non-stop usage you will get around 6 hours battery life (gaming and netflix).

THERE is no denying the battery life on this device is Great. WAY better than my Ipad with same type of usage. PRIME was rated at the top of tablets in battery life. Only a lil bit behind ipad2 but more than ipad1. IT clearly has the best battery life of any android tablet out there. AMAZING considering its also the most powerful tablet out now also.

It kicks Chuck Norris' ass, straight up
12 hours of 100% screen on+wifi is a *tremendous* amount of battery life in a netbook-type form factor with the dock. There's only a few that could possibly come close, but not without sacrificing weight, size or horsepower or cost - $650 is simply amazing for this kind of device....especially now that Ubuntu has been formally chrooted onto it.
But usage styles, manufacturing defects, you name it, will influence battery life.
One guy reported only getting 4-5 hours of solid tablet-only battery life, which sounds like a manufacturing defect.
I'm also extremely interested in getting a baseline "real" number - sounds like 8-9hours is 'bout right for wifi/screen on 100%
Can't wait to start tweaking the hell out of it's software wise, underclocking, smart radio on-off.
I really believed ASUS' 18 hour battery life claim, however I'm curious what it's going to take in real life.
A lot of guys will overclock the Tegra3 for more performance - they're already doing that.
I'm the opposite - give me as little clock as possible and max out the battery life - I *really* geek out when I can eek out another hour

Well you know since we rooted already, you can use system tuner pro to manually lower the Max speed to increase battery life even more. It also has some presets n there which I think it has its own power savings mode also. It might even be better than Asus
Power savings mode. Haven't tried it out yet.

[Q] Question about battery life for prime

Hi
I have a question regarding the battery life on the prime.
ASUS advertise up to 12 hours on their website...
I'd expect to get at least half that with normal use..
How long does your battery life last with normal use?
Like ebook/pdf reading, some browsing, some youtubing and maybe some
light gaming?
I dont have much running on mine, i always try to kill backround processes.
I always have it on low brightness and turn the wifi off when not in use.
I usually dont make it much longer that 4 hours with light use... maybe 5 hours.
I use mine mostly for pdf/ebook reading. A little browsing/youtubing here
and there...
Is this normal or do I have a defective unit that I should replace?
Other than this I have no problems with the prime.

My wife and I get about 8 hours heavy use. Video, nook & browsing.
With similar/more usage than what you describe, I get much more than advertised...at 70% right now on performance mode at 7 hours at full brightness with wifi never sleeping. Keep in mind their 12 hours was playing video the whole time. I'm ridiculously impressed so far.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA
I can't tell you exactly how much I get, because I never got down to under 20%. To be honest I mostly use it with the dock, watching video and browsing outisde (+IPS) on never ran into battery issues after 2-4 hours.
So I never every until now worried about the battery, it was just there.
it really does last quite well, im used to charging my phone up every night and i cant get this thing to drain quickly, i wanted to do some full drain cycles on the battery and it actually took hours and hours to empty it.
you wont be disappointed!
Honestly, coming from an Apple employee, it kicks the iPad's ass not only at battery life, but at charging too. This thing charges in just about the same time it takes to charge an iPhone.
Wow.. 8+ hours... I dont see that happening on my unit.
I think ill try a factory reset and if that doesnt help
I think i'll have to return it for a new one.
Thanks everybody for your comments
I get about 16 to 1 day and 6 hours with the dock (That's using it very wildly, meaning not sparingly).
I surf alot, watch videos, play games, test settings.
I use IPS+ sometimes only but most of the time I have my brightness level on about 70%
Cheers!
Well, just did a factory reset, down 6% already after ~25minutes.
I think i'll see if the store will let me return it because of
unsatisfactory battery life
I get like 6 hours on screen time generally....pretty bad. Probably a lot of bugs to work out with the tegra 3 still, hopefully Asus is working on it. I do not even do anything that intensive, just web browsing, chatting, taking notes, don't even watch videos or play games too often. Battery life would probably plummet if I played games.

With the screen on?
Could you possibly take a screenshot of the battery statistics?
I would really appreciate it so i could have something to compare to.
Or even anybody with similar results on their prime?
16,5 hours since charged, and i've got
2h40m Screentime
3h24m WIFI on
61% charged
Usage: Watching a movie, surfing, playing around with the system;-)
Fully charged at 1pm yesterday, after flashing Primulous from cwm touch, i have been benchmarking, browsing, took about 10 min of 1080p video, running wifi analyzers to configure repeater in my house, left on overnight, on balanced mode. Woke up at 5am, have been youtubing, browsing. Its 8:30 and battery just hit 20%
I AM IMPRESSED to say the least, battery life is so good due to running "minimal" when flashing Primulous, wasn't quite this good when on stock, with bloated apps
I have just about every tab on the market in the past 2 years. iPad, iPad2, Transformer w/dock, Acer, HTC Flyer, Kindle Fire, Galaxy tab 7, galaxy tab 10.1 and now the Prime w/dock. The Prime battery outlasts all of them except the gTab for me. I get about 2 days between charges prior to the dock and about 3 with the dock. Stats right now are at 70% tablet 92% dock with 10h 36m on batter and 2 hours of screen on.
With WiFi running at 10h and taking up 81%of the battery. I switched it off this morning to see if I get an improvement since I dont use it and I definitely see a HUGE improvement.
I've always had issues with leaving my WiFi on connected all the time. Lasts about 4-6 hours with WiFi on all the time. Now that I have it on JUST when the screen is on, it lasts about the good 6-9 hours. Anyone having this issue too?

With web browsing, ebook reading, and some YouTube I get 12-14 hours when my screen is set to "power saver" performance mode and with the screen at about 25% brightness. If I have the Prime plugged into the keyboard dock I get 15-18 hours depending on what I am doing.
First thing. Don't kill background tasks. Unless your Prime is seriously suffering performance issues you should ignore any background task that is running. Compulsively killing tasks will actually drain your battery faster. Do you have a lot of apps syncing? Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc? If so turn off the ones you don't use often or at least set them to update no faster than once an hour. Also, set the WiFi to turn off when the screen is off, this will improve standy battery significantly.
If you keep getting battery drain, before you return the Prime do a factory reset and see if that solves the battery drain. There could be some system process that isn't ending correctly and keeping the Prime awake. Factory resets are wonders at solving this kind of glitch.

New Battery

So I started a new thread cos its kind of different to my other one. The last little niggle with my Prime seems to be the battery. I read the instructions for once and it said to charge it all up. So i charged it till it was green and then powered it up for the first time. So as the instructions say i need to break the battery in. At the moment i am getting about 5-6 hours. The pad is on balanced with auto brightness. Does this seem normal for new battery. I would hope to end up with 9-10 or are my expeditions too high?
From what I remember the instructions stated that for the first time you should leave the prime charging for 6 to 8 hours. I personally didn't follow this and I'm still getting pretty good battery life. My advice is to let the battery drain out and charge it to full again and leave it connected for at least a couple of hours. The battery should calibrate itself through a couple of charge/discharge cycles and get better over time. Forgot to add, I have my wifi set to turn off when screen goes off.
If you're on firmware .21 it may be due to wifi. Check your battery stats. I have great battery life but as soon as i turn wifi on and use it battery goes down waaay fast.
I hope the new firmware thats coming adresses that, because before .21 that wasnt the case.

People that didn't fully charge it up the first time for 6-8 hours, exactly what kind of life are you getting and could you please explain what things you are doing on it. I didn't charge it fully and it accidentally got turned on during its first charge.
Thanks,
If you are on .21 don't expect the battery to be near 8hrs while on wi-fi surfing/video/screen on/etc. I had it on .15 for 2-3 days while deciding if I wanted to root or not and it was near 8hrs wi-fi on. I'm also hoping for the next update to fix whatever they implemented in .21 that's causing a significant amount of drain.
I am on 4.0.3, is that the right one
Sorry, wi-fi is .22
Thr charging over night for 10 hours or whatever is nowadays just a Myth that came from the old NiCd batteries (It was true back in the day), new LiPo / NiMh batteries have no Memory Effect and the first charge is nowhere near as important as with old ones.
In fact is actually better not to stress the battery doing full discharges / charges cycles.
These batteries get to their full capacity after about 10 charging cycles.
So if you didnt not charge X hours for the first time, dont worry, yout battery ill work fine.
The only thing that should be pointed out is that if you use very often your battery, every 2 - 3 months is recommended to let the battery discharge to 0% and charge while off to 100%. If you dont use the battery often (always connected) then is better once every month. Thats to keep the internal chip from the battery calibrated.
Well atm i am draining it down to <10% then charging. Is it ok for these modern batteries to be left on charging past 100%?
Battery life still seems pretty poor after 3 0-100 ish charges. 1-2% seems to last less than 5 minutes when on the net on balanced mode and screen brightness mostly down.

Yes, once the batteries are at 100% they stop charging. You can have them 100000 hours connected.. and they wont go past 100%.
im on .21 and i get great battery life. i never cut my wifi off. its on 24/7. battery drainage will more so be dependent on display brightness and what you are doing. wifi is already a known, wifi on any device drains battery at a faster rate than wifi off. it takes power to make wifi work ya know..lol i can easily get 9-10hrs. + with my brightness set to less than 25% & wifi on all the time.
also the two biggest drainers, as far as programs go, is gaming and web surfing. especially web surfing and especially while using flash. since web browsing is very ram intensive. I've noticed some browsers drain battery faster than other. Meaning some browsers are more optimized than others when it comes to power consumption. This shouldn't be nothing new. Everyone's battery drainage will be different because people use their device in different ways.
we have an update about to hit us any moment or day now so don't get too stuck on battery drainage on .21. it'll be time to test how it is on newer firmware.

Web surfing and gaming and WiFi are 3 major things in this tablet, what should we use it for then??
here are some battery saving tips!

That's what I'm saying. Everyone web browsing and gaming is different. Some web pages people visit might be loaded with flash content vs. Someone who visits a site with less flash content. The one with the loaded flash content will drain or use more battery than the other one. Same with gaming. I might like to play Dead Space or Shadowgun and you like to play hang man or some other simple game. The battery will drain faster with me playing the 3d graphic intensive games vs. The person who is playing simple or less graphical intense games.
Wifi is a must have and no way around that if you want to web surf. The amount of screen brightness, 3D gaming, and web surfing will influence how fast your battery drains. Wifi drains battery but not at a faster rate than those other things listed.
I think some people here expect to have brightness up to the Max with super ips+ on, gaming and web surfing all day and expect to get 10+ hours out of it. Lol. Its not happening. There are easily things you can check for and change to make you have better battery life. -
-First one being not to use auto brightness and don't have brightness higher than 25%. That's if you so concerned about making the battery last long.
-Second thing you can do is go into settings and change screen off display settings. I have mines set to 30 or even 15 secs. That means once 15 secs. Or 30 secs. Pass and I haven't touched the screen, the screen will cut off. That's a huge battery saver right there. Because my screen isn't on as long when its not in use.
-Third would be to go into settings and lower the frequency of sync settings. I don't need my email syncing every 5mins. Or my Facebook syncing every 5 mins or etc.. cut them down to maybe every hrs, or every 12 hours, or once a day. The best would be to sync when you open up the app instead of it doing it automatically in the background. Completely cut off sync to apps you never use. Constantly having things sync in the background is a major battery drainer when the screen is on or even while device is sleeping. If you put device to sleep and its always waking up to sync data, don't be surprised if battery drains at a faster rate during sleep or when device is awake.
-Fourth, cut of unneccessary sounds. Do you really need the keyboard or screen presses to make a sound when you press it? If so, don't be surprised your battery draining faster.
-Fifth, cut off that stupid vibration motor. Do you really need your tablet to vibrate when ever you press something on the screen or keyboard? Do you really need it to vibrate when your gaming? If so, don't be surprised your battery is draining faster then. Because everytime that vibrate motor goes off, it drains battery.
SIXTH, you can go into settings and have wifi cut off when device is asleep. Or you can go into Asus customized settings and have it cut off network activities when the screen is off or device is asleep.
All very easy steps people can take. Same thing as in saving gas in a car. There's things you can do or not do to make it last longer.

Its Def the firmware Asus should fix it soon hopefully
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA
It does seem to be getting better though. I have had it on for over a day now and it is at 50%. Probably had a good 3ish hours of actual use. During the breaking in of the battery stage is it better to let it drain then fully charge or charge whenever I can?

Well hopefully after a few charges I will make my way unto that region, I think it has climbed though to a closer to 6-6.5.

Sick of terrible battery life on mate 10 pro

Having purchased the mate 10 pro back in march i was expecting a good 6hrs of SOT. However i have only managed to hit that once in 3 months. I have done multiple factory resets and investigated what was wrong using accubattery with little to no success. In fact i have found something odd. I get better battery life charging to 90% then 100%(how odd right?). From 100 to 20 i get about 3hrs 45mins to 4 hrs of screen on time. I get a similar amount if not more if I charge to 90 and let it drain to 20. ( usually around 4hrs SOT) I have thought about taking back to the carrier and fixing it but i cant be bothered waiting 2 weeks for them to probably not find anything wrong and returning it back. The model is BLA-L09 8.0.0.134(C34). Im gonna try using a different carrier to see if its a carrier problem even though i consistently get full bars of signal. Anyone else get such crap battery life or is it just me. Im hoping future updates like gpu turbo will rectify this problem and improve efficiency. Check my accubattery stats in the link below. Usage is normal web browsing, messnger, fb, youtube. All background apps disabled. Location wifi scanning off.

I don't know when or who began the SOT fever, but it's not a very reliable way of measuring battery life across users and devices.
I can squeeze 4h maybe a bit more depending on the day, and people consider it bad, well in my former phone I would be happy if I'd get 3.
But I don't disable any radios, I don't set the screen brightness to the lowest value possible when it's just bearly readable and I don't care about apps running on the background, actually I've every kind of aggressive battery management disabled.
I stream a lot on YT, Netflix and from my cloud drivers, when the screen is of I'm probably still streaming some kind of audio (be it podcast, spotify or YouTube), all this mostly via 4G and connected to Bluetooth headsets.
I have seen a lot of claims that the Kirin 970 isn't as efficient as it's counterpart (SD835 and 845), but haven't found any test backing up this claim, neither have I been able to test it.
What I noticed is that the Mate drains quite a lot of battery on standby compared to other phones, makes me think that the modem isn't very efficient, because the kernel goes through the right cycles of sleep and wake (doze maintenance windows) when in standby.
Having the phone connected to WiFi while on airplane mode improved my battery consumption quite a lot, if your carrier supports vowifi you can try it.
But having a charger that can charge enough of the battery in a bit, I don't even care in saving battery tbh.
7-8h here regularly with most of 4g,ive never seen less than 6h.

i never used to care about SOT either but upon watching utubers like uravg consumer and Mr mobile and other say they easily last the day with 60-70% remaining makes me annoyed that my mate 10 pro cant do that. Also reading through the battery forums where people are getting 6-8hrs makes me frustrated that i cant similar mileage.

do u have accubattery installed? what does the discharge rate say? My discharging speed currently is 529ma and this usually reaches 600. 4000/600=6.5hrs of continue use. Im never gonna get that because theres also standby battery usage.

On average I have 6-7 hours with very intensive use and moderate use of 9 -10 hours, I had never had a phone with which I was carefree of the battery. I have the c432 version. 145

Makes you wonder what they (and others) classify as intensive use.
Mr. Mobile also claims that he didn't felt let down by the 300ah battery on the G7 thinq, it would last him a busy day till the night.
Well it lasts me from 7am to noon before I'm reaching the lows 30%, depending on the day.
Here is the thing, what someone may consider "intensive use" might just be light use compared to your usage.
Someone that says "oh but I'm playing like more than 1h a day", well this person might have the phone on auto brightness (and the Mate chooses a level that falls loweer than what I would want), several radios turned off and he/she might be playing a not so gpu and cpu intensive game, in the mean while if I'm streaming 1h of youtube I know the hit on the battery will be dramatic, 4G radio and BT always on, screen on a higher than average brightness and I might even be doing something else on the phone (either using PiP or dual-window).
Unless there is an app crashing you battery, something that's easy to spot, it might just be that your usage is just more demanding that others.
The only variable that you don't have a control is indeed the network coverage, the leaser the coverage the more battery your phone will use, and if your network is based on lower frequency bands, your phone might be working a bit higher indeed to talk to the tower.
As for your mention of GPUturbo, it will automatically oberclock the gpu when in a demanding game, I'll suppose it might have a slightly negative impact on the battery, but it doesn't need to be this way, and if it is, you'll only notice it while playing a graphics intensive game.
Edit:
By all means I'm not trying to discredit those or any other reviewer, but I put my questions mark if the totally unscientific "in my use" measuring should be the only kind of information we get from them.
This will sound pretty familiar to anyone who watched any phone review: "in my use with browsing, some calls, music stream and emailing I get X hours of use"
And I'm like okay, but how many minutes of calls? Over what network (wifi, 4g, 3g...), Speakerphone, regular call or wired headsets, what Browser and how long, screen brightness, etc etc etc ..
Even if you try to be consistent it's difficult, I know for a fact that in winter I get more battery life out of my phones due the simple reason that the days are shorter and darker in general.
If you are testing a Key2 you'd be expending less time playing games or watching content, just because the form factor pushes you off doing those tasks.
I think those reviewers should move towards more consistent testing found in more classic reviews, providing a consistent environment for testing, like measuring the phones brightness to test how much battery something like X time of video playback takes. There are even automated tests that you could run a few you'll get a score at the end.
I'm not really sure why y'all get such bad battery life, I have all my apps set to manual monitoring none automatically launch unless I tell them to it only certain ones they running in the background. I don't need every notification every second, so that definitely helps GPS is turned off, Bluetooth always on connected to my Android Wear, Spotify three to five hours per day average over Bluetooth, PBA bowling for about an hour a day, camera wanted to pictures a day if I'm in the mood to take pictures of my car, and regular everything else phone calls texts checking Instagram Snapchat Etc

NO i don't,don't have need for that. I just look at battery stats in settings occasionally.
Working days,house-caffe bar-office and vice versa,4G/WiFi,auto brightness,3 emails sync, twitter, whatsapp, viber,LINE,Vikings(battery hog game). Around 8h of sot. Give or take 30min.
Working days,traveling,4G only.weaker signal,all other the same....6-7h of SOT.
Weekends home WiFi....playing games and lurking on twitter. 9/10h of SOT.
Bummer for the game

What percentage of the battery does your screen and phone idle take up under hardware?
There's a battery thread in this subforum i believe I've put all my screens there
First of all: you are a victim of your own mind. I study behavioral economics atm and one big implication is that a lot of judgments are based on a reference point that is initially set when you first receive information about something. You watching all these ridiculous "reviews" anchored the magic 8h sot in your head. now you will always compare your numbers to that. or other high numbers. and be disappointed. huawei did not understand yet that it is not enough to make a quick sale by exaggerating specs but long term customer satisfaction.
I only get like 4-5h of sot too (in a period of 24h). I think its great coming from an s8+. The iphone 7 of my gf gets like 1.5h sot in 8h usage lol
I think you should not focus on numbers. battery is dependent on too many factors. (your screenshots about charging to 100 or 90% are pretty useless). rather should you think about "is it enough for what i need it every day?".
i play pubg mobile on max brightness quite a bit lately some arcades mostly, full matches on my ipad (20-40min/day), watch some youtube but i dont have any social media apps besides twitter installed, though i use instagram in chrome. i have a garmin watch aswell. What i am trying to say: doesnt matter what times others get, there are 1000 variables influencing battery life it is simply impossible to pin it down to one number. i have my pattern of usage and its not changing so much only sometimes there are spikes, so all i care about it "will it get me through a normal day, preferably with a little buffer?". if you cannot manage your daily life with one battery charge you should think about a powerbank (there is a huawei with supercharge). because there is no other phone better than huawei atm. its simple as that. 4000mah is the most you get in a flagship, some others reach same usage numbers but in the end no one is notably better than huawei.
I am happy with my 4h-5h sot in 24h because i dont need more. in fact most of the time i only have like 3h sot after 24h and still have 25-30% when i charge. i think our batterie life is pretty similar tbh if i use my phone more i get more sot. i think i could get 8h sot in 10h of usage with youtube or netflix but over a period of 55h i once had almost 2h sot with flight mode at night. i am happy with that.(wth are you guys doing with 8h sot in one day lol do you work?.)
when i go out spontaneously for example i experience the need for a bigger battery but it is only sometimes. for that i enojy supercharge. while all my friends have dead batterys i am still on 40% cause my phone charged from 25-75 during the 20min i showered before going out. all others only manage to charge theirs from 15-35 RIP
With my Mate 10 Pro i get 9h SOT.
if anything, this device is far too stringent with preserving battery life.
if you are having this issue, then the issue is with you and not the device. you won't find better battery efficiency than EMUI
First off disable chrome
I can get 11-13h onscreen easy with my setting. My battery accu check 102% omg

so can you post your power consumption?
for 1h usage of kiwi or chrome it draines 1200mah according to my stats.
generally what i notice is that for it always displays hardware around 25-30% and software around 70-75%. Most people with 8-10h sot here have something close to 50/50. this means that their apps consume less power relative to the phones hardware. i guess the hardware is less variable compared to software.
