[Q] I NEED HELP Rooting My HTC Evo 4G - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Need Help Rerooting My New Updated HTC Evo 4G
I have a ploblem. I replaced my HTC Evo 4G with another one. (Bad charging port)
It was rooted and everything was backed up with Nandroid,Clockworkmod,Titanium,a root backup and on my computer.
I was running the Synergy rls1 Supersonic rom.
My problem. I cant seem to find an updated Root. Unrevoked tells me that
my Firmware is too new.I've also tried a few manual roots, but it seems my phone is too new.
Can I use a Samsung phone update?
My phone info:

Model PC36100
Android 2.3.5.
H Boot 2.18.0001
Supersonic
Rom Version 4.67.651.3
My Home Computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate
How do I root? I need to get to one of my backups.Perferably Nandroid
or even Clockworkmod.
Can Someone Please Help Me?
I Miss My ROOT

Do not try to use anything Samsung on an Evo. You need to downgrade your firmware first then you'll be able to use revolutionary tool to do everything you need.

If you are on Inspire Build 3.20.502.52 Then try doing this
Google : No Temproot for Inspire Build 3.20.502.52 < That should lead you to attn1 blog. (Cannot post the URL because of the restriction due to new user. )
Follow the steps there and you should be able to root your phone. If you're stuck during the rooting, they have an IRC channel as well, its #aahkSupport on Freenode.
Cheers!

[Q] New to rooting phones

I have been rooting and romming tablets for awhile now, but never have done a phone. I have a friend with a Sprint HTC EVO 3D with the ICS OTA. I have found this tutorial and wondering if this was the best way to root it. If there is a better way can you please direct me. All the specs on the guide is what is on his phone and also s=on. Also, I know roms are subjective so I probably shouldn't ask, but is there any one rom that stands out for being stable. The person I am doing this for does not have any experience and I don't want to be flashing roms for him and there are so many to choose from it is hard to decide what is the best route to go. I know that the one thing he does want to do is use his phone as a mobile wifi spot so any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestiions.

You might find this guide very useful. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
As for ROM. Moderator preference forbids us to tell you on which is the best, however I can tell you which ones you could try out. All of them are stable, fast and have lots of enhancement tweaks. You can try meanrom, cool sense, homebrew, and common sense. That's not all the sense ROMs but I figured I would give you somewhere to start. Try them all out and see which one you like best.Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I knew better than to ask about roms because in the tablet forum we are always telling people the same thing about it is to subjective and not a good topic to discuss. I do appreciate the response though since it gives me an idea where to start. I guess I need to ask the person who's phone it is what it is they are looking for, problem with that is I doubt he knows what he wants since he has never run anything but stock os.
Thanks again for the help....

That's a very nice suggestion. However the link I provided already has links to unlimited.io's web page not to mention HTC dev unlock. Your not doing yourself any good repeating what I have suggested to other users without fully looking into everything that's on the posts first.
Now my migraine is full blown:crying:

[Q] Need help reverting to GB!

Hello fellow gurus.
First i'd like to apologize for opening another thread.
I read trough all related threads and i couldn find the right answer.
I have GSM Evo3d.
Its on Hboot 1.53.007,unlocked bootloader, S-ON
I installed custom recovery and installed CoolEXE 14b rom and its working great.
All except 3d camera stuttering and 3d video playback stuttering.
As far as im aware GB ROMs have better 3d support.
A few months ago i successfully reverted back to GB using:
- Free 3VO_V2 downgrade to 1.49.xxx
- S-OFF wire trick
For some dumb reason i went back to ICS and now i cant remmember right order of actions to revert back to GB.
What i the right order?
Should i first downgrade of attempt wire trick?
Do i need to be on official ROM to do that, should i relock bootloader first?
Im trully sorry for asking such stupid question but please hlep me get from my current state (Unlocked,Hboot 1.53.007,S-ON,custom ICS)
to my desired state (Unlocked,Hboot 1.49.xxx,S,OFF,Custom GB)
Thank you!
There is no way to downgrade hboot if you haven't s-offed.
Are you able to set phone to usb debugging mode? If so this may help...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585846
I managed to downgrade to 1.49.007 by first installing official rom then wire trick for s-off and then by using downgrade tool.
thanks for your help guys.
I hit thanks button to both of you!
Cheers
Oh,and just one more question:
Have you noticed that 3d video playback stutters with ICS?
Why is that?
I read some thread on xda that maybe HTC deliberatly screwed up evo 3d to make us purchase new line of phones.......

HTC EVO 3D Wont root cm10 or aokp

Okay. So here is my dilemma. I have tried to root this phone for at least a year. But recently i was able to do it. I unlocked my phone and put a working recovery on it! 4ext! But then the problems began. I tried to install ROms like Aokp or Cm10.1 but they would load up to the startup animation then go into a boot loop. For at least 6 other roms this happened aswell. I then read up on some articles and think that maybe this is because of my hboot. It is hboot 1.5 and not many roms work with this. I tried to flash AnthraX-htcleak-rls1.zip kernel since many articles said it would fix the problem but it did not help. PLEASE Can someone help me ! I need cm10 or aokp! BTW this is a HTC evo 3d Gsm (rogers) hboot 1.5.
if you have installed cmw .. you must need to backup the stock rom . in order to fix and accident caused by this kind of experiments
try to flash stock rom to it . it will b ok
try search your relevant product in google. HTC EVO 3D stock rom
find one wich is match your device properly
regards n best luck

[Q] Sprint HTC Evo 3d: Methods of installing Custom ROM (after unlock and root)

Hey Guys,
So yesterday I unlocked and rooted my HTC Evo 3d using the methods outlined at HTC Evo Hacks.
Tomorrow, I'm planning on putting a custom ROM (CM 10.1, because I hear that's the most stable, and I'm a noobie.
The problem arises when I see on the HTC evo 3d hacks cheat sheet page and it gives me too many options on how to go from here to installing my custom ROM, and I don't want to ruin everything by trying all of the methods. Here are the methods mentioned:
", you will need to use HTC Dumlock app to install kernels/ROMs correctly.(otherwise you might lose Wifi/4G)Optionally, you can also install new ROMs from fastboot OR use Flash Image GUI app. Also How to Unroot on HBOOT 1.50 video.
How to Install 4EXT Recovery on HTC Evo 3D! - This will allow you to install custom ROMs with S-ON easily.
How to Install Custom ROM on HTC Evo 3D! - You can use this method to install custom ROMs.
How to Get S-Off using Wire Trick! – If you want to install custom ICS ROMs on your Sprint HTC Evo 3D, you need to get S-OFF! Not required for GSM Evo 3D though."
So my question is, which one do I use? Have you tried any of the ones, beside the wire trick (which I've seen multiple times on the threads)? Do you prefer one over the other? Which one will work best for the ROM/kernel I'm planning on installing? Any and all answers will be appreciated.
BTW, I have an HTC evo 3d running HTC sense 3.6 (OEM ROM) that is unlocked, rooted, and has revolutionary cvm recovery.
