[Q] New SGS2, where's the beef? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, been surfing the form for a few hours now and not seeing some usual answer and questions.
Phone : T Mobile SGS2 -- Right out of the box.
1) Is there an Odin package that will replace the stock recovery with CWM for a brand new phone still running GB ?
2) Where is the Stock ICS ROM Odin pack or the Latest Samsung/T Mobile Stock GB Odin ROM (with or with out root)
Im sorry if these are repeats, i'm coming from the SGS4G forums where these are common stickies.

The T mobile version is different to the I9100 and has a sepetate forum on XDA. You might want to look there because you'll probably brick your phone using roms found here.

[Q] Urgent Help For My Galaxy S i9100

I Have Bought A Box Packed Galaxy S 2.
And I Have Rooted It Also.
After *#1234# On It:
PDA: I9100XWKE7
Phone: I9100XXKDJ
CSC: Unknown .
Now My Phone Is Not Recognised In My PC And Also I Am Irritated Of The Yellow Traingle On Boot Screen.
Please Help Me Out As I want to transfer games and music on my phone...
please some one reply....
Don't know why your PC won't recognize the device, the triangle means that you'r running a non samsung signed kernel! Flash back your stock kernel (look in dev section how), then the triangle will be gone (you won't loose root)!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
but where can i find the stock kernel and what about the recognition on pc why its not recognised...??
as I said, search for the stock kernel in the development section there is a post with all the kernels, should not be too hard to find
regarding the connection issue:
reboot your pc, reboot your device, check the usb connection type in the gs2 taskbar (you have to activate usb mass storage each time you want it), if all fails: go into win device manager and reinstall the driver(s)!

is ke7 firmware ok with my device or should i come back to ke4 or ke2...?
ke7 works well here, so I think it should be ok for you too!

Csc is to do with regions... Maybe the way you rooted made you install a csc which isnt relevant to your region. There is a thread in the dev section that explains it all. Use the search bar

Hi all,
It's my 1st post in XDA-developers & I would really appreciate your help. I have the following Samsung Galaxy SII:
PDA: I9100JPKG3
Phone: I9100XXKG1
CSC: Unknown
Kernel version:
2.6.35.7-I9100JPKG3-CL388633
[email protected] #2
I have fully read the thread originally put by Intratech in the developers section but I couldn't post there since I'm still a new member! Can you please help me answering these Q's:
1. I couldn't find the firmware JPKG3 neither on the official firmwares section nor on the Frankenstein one! Does this mean, I'm running an unofficial firmware?
2. The CSC is unknown, I read a post also by Intratech providing the CSC file: "csc_xsg_i9100ojpkg1" & using Odin to flash my SGSII. I obtained the file, so is it possible to flash it to my device? And if I flash it, will I solve such an issue? Do I need to backup my data? Will the data be wiped out?
3. The kernel version of my device is weird? Is it a rooted device although I bought it from an original reseller of Samsung in my country?
4. In the thread of Intratech, I found a newer version JPKG5 for XSG (UAE). Is it possible to flash it to my device, will it solve the CSC & Kernel issues, while updating the firmware as well?
5. Finally, based on the steps posted by Intratech, will the firmware update wipe out my device data? Can you please confirm?
Thank you so much & waiting for your help.
Any help pleasssssssssssssssssse?

[Q] i9100 to i777

Okay so I am fairly new here, however I would not call myself a noob.
Anyways, I am facing a major and weird problem with my Samsung Galaxy S II i777. I couldn't wait for ICS to come to our phones so instead I installed a rom that was meant for the international GS2 (i9100) using "Install ICS on Galaxy S2(SII) I9100XXKPA firmware Android 4.0.3 (much stable)" on the dial android site
It worked pretty well, except the softkey key mapping but I reprogrammed that anyway. So the phone works, however I am not able to go back to CM7 Nightly. And I'm pretty sure it was because I didn't only flash the i9100 ICS PDA file, but also the PIT file, the CSC file, and the MODEM file in odin. So my phone essentially is programmed completely like a i9100. Whenever, I try to flash stock rom in the PDA section of odin I get the Galaxy S II i9100 boot screen and it just hangs there...and eventually it says Upload Kernel Panic Mode.
This process happens whenever I try to flash any type of i777 stock rom even with stock i777 PIT file and i777 Modem file.
The weird thing is that I can easily flash the i9100 ICS anytime...
So I am very confused haha
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance

[Q] Newbie --India --Three Network mobile -- Basic Questions

Hi All,
I bought a used galaxy S2 I9100 yesterday, new to android.I have been a iphone user for 4 years and pretty aware of jailbreaking, unlocking installing custom firmwares. the terminology here in Android world is different though.
Have searched and read through different guides on the forum but still got some questions.
Model GT i900 LKAH3G
PDA i9100XWKE1
CSC I9100H3GKD4
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513 [email protected] # 2
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XWKE1
Looks like it was on Three network but it is unlocked mobile as i can use my airtel sim on the phone.
I dont want the Three network related stuff on the phone so i need to debrand the phone -- how to do it? there is guide on XDA forum but it talks primarily for O2 phones or might be i did not read it correctly. (there are also some options like the network mode which are disabled on this ROM )
Once debranding is done should i be ok to use any ROM or kernel?
Which would be best ROM to be installed and will it work for me in India.
Can i install the custom ROM and would i be able to install apps from the android Market.
If these have already been answered , can you please provide the link for that thread.
Thank You
I'd advice you to try the new ics roms, you can find the instructions inside the various rom threads, flashing these roms will get rid of the three junk as well as update your phone to the latest android os a.k.a ICS ..........
there is no such thing as a best rom for a specific country, but you can try different modems to find the one that gives you the best network and battery, you can find your modem under the baseband in about phone....
google for more info
happy flashing and welcome to Android we luf you here...........
Learn how to use Odin
Download stock gb from from checkfus or sammobile.
Flash using Odin, you will be unbranded.
After that root using cfroot, now learn how to use cfroot.
Now you can flash custom roms.

Hi KJplasma &atifsh
Thank you for the details.
can i install the below listed indian stock firmware using odin
PDA :I9100XWKE8 CSC:I9100ODDKE2
or do i need to install the firmware from UK
PDA :I9100XXKF2 CSC:MULTIOXAKF2
do i need to change the csc if i install the UK version?
Thanks
forget about csc.
if you have i9100 you can flash any region ROM and use in any country.
if you want Gb than go for la2 italy rom , iv used that and last time i check that was the fastest stock rom for GB
you can also flash ICS rom like uk lp7 too, just stay away from lp9 roms at the moment.
ad dont forget to wipe using the dialpad code *2767*3855#. [will wipe all data stored]

My friend dont go for LPJ that is unofficial beta release,
go for anything above LPQ on the sammobile firmware list ...
or pick anyone from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487.
Thank you Zac and Atif.
I have tried to do a factory rest from the phone's privacy menu but even after everything is done, istill see some files in the gallery.
i tried the code *2767*3855# everything goes fine but i see the message "cant access to system\csc\h3g\system\" and then the phone strats as normal.
can i flash it to the OS even if i am getting this message using odin or do i need to
do something before i flash?
factory reset will not delete your user stored data on the SD card...that can be manually deleted...if you want
you can flash the OS from ODIN
thanks for the responses.
I have upgraded to I9100XWLP7_I9100XEULP, and its working fine. the only problem seems to be its heating a bit where the camera is located . will read more topics and see why this is happening.
thank You.

Yes though the newer dxlp9 was much better, previous one had bunch of issues including sleep of death.
Also that ROM introduces the contact/dialer lag bug. Which some how got to Google account and now every time I sync contacts it get back.
I deleted all my contacts and synced again and it's all better, tried on dxlp9 and was working fine, than I switched to my regular cm9.

For a start, if you remember your last ROM that doesn't had heat issues, flash that modem. Doesn't matter if you use GB modem on ics.
I flashed the modem of my region xxki4 which is 2.3.5 jpkj2 and had no issues of heat in ics.

What model number are the phones I9300 / I9305?
they are i9300t
I managed to root both of them. I know have a major problem. 1 of them had a problem with wifi. It couldnt connect. I read about a solution by copying the wifi folder from version 4.1.1. Tried that. It worked for once but after reboot it stopped. And now I can't even turn on the wifi. It gets stuck on Turning on... Do i have to reflash the rom again and if so how will i do that? It was stock rom on stock kernel. Only rooted. gt i9300t moder and build DUELL2.
Also can i flash a rom with different build over that? For example XXEMC2 that i have on my Greek galaxy s3?
I9300T rooting is the same as I9300 rooting, follow the guides of CF-Root 6.4 or CF-Autoroot. (I got a T model myself)
You can flash any I9300 rom also on the T model, therefore root is not 100% necessary. Full wipes are recommended for flashing different versions though.

just saw it .
For wifi, try a stock ROM (flash it new incl. wipes etc.), or try a different kernel, whereas the stock kernel should always work.

you can find (unrooted) stock roms for instance on sammobile.com or (rooted) stock roms here on XDA in the General section.
Easiest way to flash them is via Mobile Odin (gives you the option to keep root) or Odin (you will loose root but you can flash CF afterwards manually).
And yes you can flash any build that is made for the I9300/I9300T.
The only difference between both models is the frequency of the baseband (the T model is more optimized for 850mhz) whereas you even can use modems of the I9300 on the I9300T.

There is a difference between the ROM's firmware (basically your OS, e.g. XXEMC2) and the modem (basically the part which gives you the connection to the next mobile tower and is managing the frequencies, e.g. DUELL2).
It does not matter that much what ROM firmware you use as they are nearly identical in each country (here and there dif. apps due to providers) but more that you use a modem that delivers in the country you are in. Hence, I would first try the modems of your region (you can find a list of all modems in the General section's modem collection).
Regarding the risk of bricking: there is always a risk, no one can guarantee you anything , whereas if you follow the guides you should be fine.

Ok. So the CSC numbers that are different on lets say the DUELL2 and the XXEMC2 are not something to bother me right? I just download the XXEMC2 rom and flash it on the DUELL2 S3 and then I just will root it. right? Will the phone become i9300 after that procedure? or stay i9300t? So I know which file i should use to root it.
Soz for too many questions but the phone is not mine and I need to be sure for the procedure.

The firmware code (XXEMC2) should not be of concern.
The modem code (DUELL2) should be of concern IF you experience bad performance in the region you are. If so, flash a different modem and try it.
The phone will be an I9300T whereas in the menus it might tell you I9300, anyway there is no difference in the files to use.
For rooting, follow the guide, you can use CF-Root 6.4 (if you want a custom recovery) or CF-Autoroot (if you want to use stock recovery).

So you obviously missed the thread stickied near the top of Q&A titled 'Flash stock firmware' then ?
The only difference is you obviously need to get I9100G firmware from Samfirmware, not I9100.
This is basics, you should already know this stuff before you start flashing custom roms, and you're certainly not going to be spoonfed it.

The only difference is you obviously need to get I9100G firmware from Samfirmware, not I9100.
This is basics, you should already know this stuff before you start flashing custom roms, and you're certainly not going to be spoonfed it.

You REALLY should know this....
1) no need to flash a separate kernel.
2) no need to unroot.
Flash the correct firmware via Odin and your phone will be in an "as new, out of the box" condition.....
That's ALL you need to do.
