Beats audio on any Gb rom. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I haven't tried it yet but thought I would share.

Flashed fine. I'll report back later
Sent from my AT&T cellular device.

I would be all over this if it improves the audio output quality of the i777. I'm skeptical, and btw I would never buy beats headphones.

Been using it all day and haven't noticed any improvement at all.

Don't we need to have specific hardware to make use of this? just like the xperia video mod that came out a few months back that was also a no-go?

It says you don't

Because its just an EQ that changes some settings. It may or may not make any difference, but it may be slightly better for some people.

Didn't think it would, but apparently its working on the i9100 since 100+ people are very happy with it.
I will never own a Beats product, I'll stick to my Technica for the time being.

It may have made a slight difference, not really sure. Definitely not flooringly awesome

just my .02 here, this could help with the EQ settings and such but part of the perk with beats audio is some really awesome headphones. be like that 10k Mordaunt-Short setup will sure sound alot better then my 300$ home theatre in a box from phillips.

Supercurio ran some audio tests and confirmed there is no benefit to this. So Sad. I miss my voodoo sound.

Im closing this as of now, because Beats Audio is owned by HTC and has not made it open source. Also, the main Beats threads have also been closed and will stay that way until a decision is made.

Thanks a lot
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
i will guess and say no. if there's an app, then it's related to the audio chip. i've already read the one in our phone is poor quality, so i'm getting another Cowon PMP.
and it was showed that it was mainly some really good EQ profiles in software and that is why they can add that to roms.
I would think that porting from a sense rom to it might not be too easy , but never know.
Yeah my friends just let me listen to some music via headphones on his Evo3d and all I can say is wow.

Voodoo sound

Coming from the cappy, is it possible for this phone to have the benefit, or is the audio chip not the same?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Not the same. Not as powerful from what i understand. Would be nice though...

This is a shame, and will keep me from upgrading to the S2. I have a captivate now and was looking forward to improved GPS with the S2. However, GPS is good enough on the captivate now (custom ROMs), and the sound quality is too good to give up.
Maybe try listening to the sound quality?
I haven't noticed any significant difference between the two.

I noticed quite a change. The Cappy is slightly more 'crisp' and with bass boost that was in voodoo, it sounded far superior to the SGSII.
Is there a way to incorporate bass boost?

Interestingly enough - Supercurio is working on doing some MC1N2 audio tuning. It's in extremely early stages (as in, he has no threads on it, it's only there for those who really know where to look, and he does NOT like when people put alpha-grade testing software of his into widely available releases.)
So some interesting stuff might be coming - who knows, often research projects like that just don't pan out, so don't get your hopes up.

The only issue with market equalizers is that they are mostly software based which will distort the sound. Voodoo sound is software thats specially designed to rework how the hardware outputs audio allowing for better clarity

I spoke with supercurio a couple days ago about this actually, and according to him there will be no "Voodoo Sound" for the SGSII. The hardware simply does not have the features required for it to work, and the audio hardware is really inferior to the previous generation Galaxy S phones as well.
I cant believe that would be a deal breaker for getting this phone....i think it sounds great as is! But, to each his own!

How well it actually works, who knows - it could prove that the above link is a failed experiment.
He's doing a simple "Volume Boost" app, mainly for the Galaxy Note, but he mentioned it could be used on the Galaxy S II.

That's not the only problem. When you stream through Google Music or Pandora or even YouTube, (WiFi or not) the 4G LTE radio causes another buzzing. HTC has confirmed this, but has yet to release a fix.

I actually have noticed this as well. Even though I wouldn't consider by JVC XX crappy or cheap, they do buzz while my klipsch do not.
Since, from what I have read, only a handful of us are experiencing this issue, I can only assume that only a handful of the devices are defective. So, I called up verizon yesterday and told them that my DNA has a hardware defect, and they are sending me a brand new device! (the DNAs are so new that they don't have refurbished ones yet)

I would say it's something wrong with your phone then. I use my music every day on the way to work on the bus and I haven't had any buzzing since taking the ota. I'm on complete stock never unlocked or rooted. I like this phone the way it is so I'm leaving it be. But the ota fixed it for me.

BEATS AUDIO PETITION for the DNA

I've noticed many of you on viper 1.1.3 have enjoyed the beats mod that I was able to get working on our phone. I'm also very aware of everyone asking when it's gonna be updated for the new viper 1.2. Well after weeks of trying everything I can get my hands on to get it to work I've come up with nothing.
I did However find out some interesting things from HTC after writing them a few emails. I got them to tell me that yes an ota would give us more options for beats audio. But since they don't feel that there's nothing wrong with beats what's the point for fixing it? That's where you come in...
All I ask is a simple email to HTC explaining to them how much of a downer beats actually is on this phone. Its that simple. I know it's a long shot and I know it's a small crowd of us that actually give a damn about it but it's ridiculous that we have all of the same files in our phones as say the ONE X but are limited to just an on/off switch on the DNA.
Here's what's needed to send them your thoughts:
-the model of your phone.
-a brief description of what you find missing from beats(ie eq settings, etc)
-that's it.
-whatever you do DO NOT explain that you're rooted or s-off as that will do nothing but hurt our chances in getting this OTA.
Like I said it's a long shot at best but the more people making an uproar about it the more they may be inclined to do something about it.
Here's a direct link to their customer service website:
