I just made a really simple widget that just makes a "shadow" for you to use as an overlay. Right now its just 1 color and 1 opacity, no settings. This is the very first thing I have EVER made for android so that's why it's so simple. I will try and add customization soon, if someone can help me with it that would be great otherwise I'll just figure it out myself(might take a little while). Hopefully this helps someone out there to make the creation of a "Hubs" style layout a bit easier.

There are 2 or 3 posts about HUBS and how to create the widgets and such already in this forum, including a post from the original author. The link below is to his post and it has tutorials and videos that will show you all you need to know to create the HUBS layout that works best for you. It will give you all the help you need to make whatever widgets you like. You might have already seen this post but here it is just incase... If so just keep at it as it is very easy, just takes a bit of time.

You made it sound like you were experimenting with HUBS. Also when I replied there was no [APP] in the title of your thread just [HUBS] so don't come back calling me out when I was just trying to help according to what was in the original OP. You are right, I was wrong to flame. I just lost my temper to the sarcastic post he replied back to someone just trying to help. I don't claim to know it all and I help where I can... Where do you see that i'm bragging?
Again to the OP, I'm sorry for losing my temper. But without downloading and actually seeing this was an .apk it does sound like it is just a saved widget. So that being said thank you for making the app as will save some time for people doing HUBS.

Ya, sorry I didn't need to say my thoughts so harshly. You were just trying to help, I just thought the OP stated that I made this widget for other people to make it easier for them to make Hubs layouts. I see that it wasn't that obvious and I'm sorry for the harsh response. We are both in the wrong so lets just forgive and forget.

You bet thank you! I have downloaded the .apk and will give it a try soon as my prime is charged. I am no Dev by any means but will help out with it any way I can.
Finally got time to give it a try and it does what it says quick and easy. Works with no problems and i'll keep an eye out to see how far you can go with it. If it gets to different colors/transparencies and pre-made with text it will really be a great time saver. Not sure all of that could be done though.
I tried it, but when I stretch it across my screen in landscape it doesn't go all the way across. I use ADW with 10x10 grid and it only fills about 6 or so grids across but its centered...

Thanks for that, I'm not entirely sure why that is since i made the normal size of the widget 1300x900, but I'll look into it. Just wondering, were you just testing it or do you actually need it full screen. I kinda figured nobody would ever need it fullscreen so I never really checked it. Right now I'm working on that configuration menu(still trying to figure out how to use a color picker in my widget...so if anyone could help that would be great), but I'll try to address this issue as well when I release the new update.

Actually I just fixed that full screen problem, I just had height and width mixed up

Hey I was wondering if there any Devs out there who would mind helping me develop a rom based on assassins creed 2 the game. I had an idea. A red colored rom with the Animated custom boot screen and shut down screen. If anyone has ideas please let me know. I will be in the.process of making this tonight.
How exactly is this a ROM? What you're proprosing is simply a "theme," you don't have to make a ROM to change the boot screen and shut down. That doesn't fall under the definition of a ROM.
Interesting idea, though I haven't played the game in a while and don't remember what animation you're referring to. As the other poster politely mentioned, it wouldn't be a rom, but could probably be a fairly simple metamorph theme.
As for the animations, if they're part of videos from the game, there's a good chance they're stored as bink files somewhere so you could download the bink player and pull frames to use for the phone animations.

You shouldn't assume anything based on a person's amount of post counts. The number of post counts doesn't change how a person thinks. I don't need to CLARIFY questions because I'm stating it since it is pretty obvious that it isn't a ROM.

my only point was that even if it is the wrong section - if someone can help, then be helpful if not, then don't.
we were all new once and if someone hadn't gone beyond the normal flame and redirect then we wouldn't be here contributing or helping.

No you do not have to be as condesending as possible. I know the difference between a rom, and a theme. I making a rom, with a whloe new gui. The reason I wanted to make the rom instead of just the theme was to test the vibrants HD graphics. The type of gui I want to make can not just be apllied by a simple visual style change. I love this fourm and I have been here for the last 3 years. This fourm has taught me alot of the knowladge about phones and rom development I know today. Im sorry I dont post much or develop anything frankly, because I just dont have the time. Please dont ever assume that because someone doesnt elaborate what they mean that their "stupid" or dont know what their talking about. Anyway, as for the rom, I have made some progress. I was wondering if anyone could help me find a couple of boot animations I could put in my rom, I was thinking one that would show Ezio behind a target and then leaping in to the air with his hidden blade and stab the person in the neck, then the next screen show the assassins creed logo and ad assassins creed rom. I have already made my gui and used an custom kernal to OC my rom to 1.2 gigaherz. Battery life is still a very big problem. Anyone have any ideas ?

All I gotta say is good luck hacking those .qmg files. They are what hold and run the boot sequence, and they have yet to be cracked which means you can't replace them.

The OP was told this and he still wants to make a ROM.
OP, its going to be hard to get someone to help you on such a ROM, since most people probably have never played AC or are not big fans. Good luck.
Ok guys so with a ton of reading and researching here's a little thing I was trying to figure out for awhile and finally did it so Im going to share a little guide. Now non of this is mine, I just follow instructions well
With all the Gingerbread talk/themes I haven't seen anyone here theme the stock MT4G Swype. I'm on CM7 Nightlies but I believe it should also work with stock MT4G sense since I pulled it from there.
Now before we begin I take no responsibility if this bricks your phone or make it burst in flames. This guide does need a know how to adb and have jdk and jre installed properly to sign the apk.
First we need the stock swype:
-I followed this guide from Marine6680

Now we need the Gingerbread Theme for Swype:
-I got the files from Marurban

-The file we need is the 2.6 v0.3 WVGA without Mic
Marurban's guide was kinda confusing and that was where I was having a little trouble. So then I found stone_ship's guide and helped me a lot.

I simply copied just all the keyboard pngs and left glow and wcw png stock. I still need to learn how to change the font color on the popup
After you have signed your themed swype.apk use Marine6680's guide to install it back to your phone. If your having trouble with this I will try with the best of my ability to help but no promises Enjoy!

FYI, you do relize that if you are just replacing the images as you did, that it can be done in about 10 seconds using 7zip. You dont need to resign the zip, no Apk Manager or anything like that. And this isnt really a "Guide" but just a post with links to guides from other people. If you would like a "Guide on image replacement using 7zip" I will be happy to help.

When someone makes a thread with "Guide Theme" in the title, I kinda EXPECT A GUIDE. Not links to guides. No problem lets just start a new and please tell me how an easier way can be done. cause all the things I've read about theming swype was thru either metamorph (I'm still reading up on how to make one) and thru Ninjamorph which force closes on my swype. I never ran into 7zip like you mentioned. I usually just read and try to figure things out myself so please do explain

Well you can still do it, just use the guide and download Marurban's gingerbread theme with the mic on it.
Seems like I missed the party...any how...what's the easiest way to get gingerbread Swype? I don't have my stock mt4g Swype anymore ...hehe!

What are you trying to use it for? Its use is very limited and pretty well documented throughout the forum. The only app I find it works well for is google voice searches and dolphin HD. If you are looking for it to work for a phone app then you will be disappointed. Maybe some dev work later on, but I can't say for sure what the plans are.

I've tried to use it for those two apps and doesn't work. I also tried to use it with Skype.
It says that there is an internal error.
the devs ( builders ) have been stuck for a while with some ( critical ) piece called 'ducati' that's giving them a major row... but i am with you about the microphone. i wish and hope the devs give the mic a first class treatment in the internal plumbing and rig in the voip for skype too. so . . . we just have to wait for the 'old car' to get out of the way !

I guess I am lucky then because google search and dolphin do work on my nt running cm7. Dolphin is sketchy, but it does work. There is a siri imatation that works also, siva??, but it doesn't answer most of the question it is asked so it was uninstalled.

why do some say their microphone works ( okay or so-so ) , while others have no microphone at all. this needs troubleshooting -or- just wait until the devs fix / conquer the 'dukati port 10' bug ? ? ?

when i try to use google voice search : my nt tosses up immediate error screens / windows when the mike is called into action. says... 'audio problem, alert sign, speak again, cancel'... i un-install voice search and still keep the error.

My mic works for some apps on CM7, but not in any voip apps which is what i want it to work with most. I have even used my headphones with inline mic to no success.

I am trying to figure out when you became the forum moderator. I always thought if there was a issue with someone you can pm the moderator a let that person handle issues. I am not trying to flame you, but your method of telling others to go silently and read is getting old.

Also, if you read this persons post carefully, there is no request for a eta or update regarding when something was going to be completed. It was a question regarding if there has been any progress made that maybe they had missed or couldn't find. This forum is difficult to perform a search for info and find what you are looking for, especially when you are new. With time it becomes easier when you learn to use more defined key words. I guess that is what made me angry when your response was rude and uncalled for in this particular sitiation.

You're literally doing the exact opposite of what you want done. You're ****ting up a thread and not just reporting to a mod. It was a question regarding if there has been any progress made that maybe they had missed or couldn't find. This forum is difficult to perform a search for info and find what you are looking for, especially when you are new. With time it becomes easier when you learn to use more defined key words. I guess that is what made me angry when your response was rude and uncalled for in this particular sitiation.

There was literally no insulting. I told someone to go read development threads for updates. An insult would have been "youre an idiot for posting this here, just read threads." You just don't like my tone.
If you're going to complain about something, at least be honest with what you're complaining about.

i got my nook back in november. i heard about and then hunted down 'succulent' improved cm7. i now have a working mic. major props to master builder / dev succulent !

Hello to all fellow Galaxy users/experts, from a noob.
I liked my Galaxy 10.1 until it recently updated itself to ICS. The operation was reasonably smooth and prior to this and the appearance of the apps was really nice.
I'm not sure how to explain but the new icons are at the bottom are thicker, crude, and unsophisticated. The fonts are disproportionately larger (at least to me). Same goes for the look of the updated browser the look of the tabs on the top remind me of windows 95.
Worse, the operation has become much jerkier and lagged even though I kill all processes using task manager.
Is there anyway I could install another theme or ROM that will take me back to the old version, or any other ROM version? I can root this thing if needed.
I hate it so much right now that I simply want to stop using tablets- and I will never go to an iPad, although one has to appreciate how beautifully they perform and look.

My apologies, I should have said my Samsung tablet updated itself to some newer version that looks bad than the one I got originally when I bought the tablet. It might not be 'ICS' - I guessed wrong.
I thought I might get educated here since this forum seems to be filled with all the bright, ultra-intellectual super-human beings here.
From the responses I received, turns out there are some arrogant pricks out here too- Churning out negative responses and indulging in belittling 'normal' people on forums for no reason? YOU get a life.

Don't get all self-righteous. If you knew these forums, you'd know that your post resembles a troll post (and we get a lot of those). Frankly, I'm not totally convinced this wasn't a troll post, but I'll take a chance and assume you've never been to XDA and don't know how this forum works.
The fact is that this stuff is complicated. This is not an Android enthusiast forum; this is XDA-developers. There's a reason the word "developers" is in the name. If you want answers, you'll need to give a lot more info. To understand how to get that info, you'll need to spend some time learning about your tablet and the android operating system. You can't come to XDA and expect that we all know what you're talking about. Read, figure out what you have and what you want. And then look for a guide before you post a question, and then search to see if someone has posted the same question. The key here is read, read, read.
Welcome to XDA. You'll find a lot of very friendly people here if you 1) put in the energy to figure out what you have and want before you ask for it, and 2) search the forums before you post. Good luck.

Or a custom ROM based on Vanilla Honeycomb.
I am assuming it is the touchwiz that you don't like. Research these forums how to use ODIN to flash a rom, and use the previously mentioned www.samfirmware.com to find an appropriate ROM (I am guessing you are looking for 3.1?)

With the forums changing formats for the main page I can't seem to find an easy way to do something that was very easy before. That was when being able to go to the latest post in a particular forum by just clicking the date that the last post was created (today, yesterday... etc) on the main page for the forum. Now when you click on the topic you go to the first page of the topic and have to click again to go to the last page. Anybody have any solutions for this? Its not that bad but its a little annoying.

I am hoping its a glitch in the coding. Not a new look. its horrid.

I haven't been on lately because I've been really busy. I do hope they switch back because I'll be on even less if the layout stays like this.
The other one was so much better. And it doesn't make sense that the sub-genre forums still have the old look, even though the root forum doesn't.

Well, what did svetius say about your new forum format concerns?
Haven't sent him a pm yet. Just found out this morning. Will probably send one sometime this afternoon. Figured I would post his name if anybody else wanted to send him anything about the new look as well.

Thanks for your response. Can you give us an Idea of some of the Changes that are coming up so we can get an idea of what changes to expect. Also is there any way for us to change the layout to something else for those that don't like the new look? I was also wondering why the look is changing in the first place? in my opinion there was nothing wrong with the old look.
Maybe this will be helpful to some. You can locate this at the bottom of the website. I still personally like the 2013 layout lol.

While I agree with the issue pointed out in the OP, I do like many things about the new look. For example, the way recent thread activity is displayed under each section. It would be nice to just click and get taken to the latest unread (or just latest) post in the thread.

Yup, can use another template! All of our old template are available, even XDA Classic! :laugh:

First search to make sure there's not an existing thread that your question would fit into or an answer already exists.
Next, find the relevant section, such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-mate2/general where you want to create a new thread, and use the "New Thread" button if appropriate, to start a new thread with your question.
Anyone experiencing issues with xda premium and tapatalk? Mentioned names don't appear and cannot quote others. Server related maybe, @svetius?
In one picture I highlighted one of my posts where at the beginning of the sentence I mentioned another xda member. On the apps its blank left with a comma. In the other picture is me trying to quote someone but as you see, its blank.
