Why thank you good sir
I just would like to know how many different editions are there for the 7510 because as far as I know, a change in bootloader shouldn't affect the use/flash of CWM. This isn't Apple.
He isn't doing something right..

I thought all models of the 7510 were WiFi only. Thus the difference between 7500 (Wifi + Mobile carrier) and 7510 (WiFi + No Mobile carrier)
I could be completely wrong in my thinking. So please tell me if I am. Also if I'm wrong could you point me where I can see a 7510 with a mobile carrier? Please don't say Google, I don't care enough to go searching for something I don't think exists. I guess I would search if you give me what keywords are going to yield results.

Sorry but I'm lost.
You lost me at "should I use the same command prompt"
Then again at "Fastboot flash OEM unlock"
My only advice that could be relevant is to goto the sticky in development section and follow or at least read s0ckm0nkeys guide to rooting and see if you can get where you want using or reading it.
Like I said, I'm lost so my suggestion is only a guess about what might already be posted about doing what you want/need.
Hopefully this will help, but keep us updated.
Edit: just realized I haven't re-read the whole thread so I will and if I notice anything that gets gets me UN-lost, I'll come back and post more.
Edit2: so this page is the whole post LOL so yes I'm still lost and the above suggestion of checking the sticky guide is all I can offer.

Well this is my 2 cent's WiFi or not some models come carrier locked, Verzion probably sells the WiFi and 3G model's but I'm in the dark on their product sales, They probably lock it for certain reasons, I don't really know the details.
I have a 3G 64GB 7500 and yeah it came with a locked bootloader, but as far as I know flashing a CWM should take care of that problem. Because after flashing CWM I didn't see the locked logo anymore.

Guess it's possible. Carriers do some strange things. Why they would even offer a wifi only version, besides profit from the initial sale, is beyond me. Still being wifi only, I can't see how it could be "tied" to any carrier. Even if sold by one. I mean it's wifi only, how could they "tie" it to themselves besides labeling it Verizon or whatever? I guess if you're contracted to their wifi access it could be tied to their wifi access points. Like I said they do some pretty strange things. But still it would be easily "un-tied".
From everything I have ever read or seen the 7510 is wifi only not carrier related at all and I've never read or seen a 7100 that's not sold by or "tied" to a carrier of some type. Therefore my thinking of the 7500 & 7510 difference.
Don't they both basically come with a "locked" bootloader anyway and flashing cwm unlocks them? Never seeing or hearing of the lock logo on a 7510 though.
Maybe this is where I get lost again with different terms used actually meaning the same thing or something other than what I think it means. Such as, I think wifi only means just that, wifi only, and that is what makes it a 7510 and not a 7500. If that's not the difference I wish someone would tell or show me so I could quit showing my ignorance.
I was being sincere and not trying to sound rude asking for someone to point me to somewhere that actually corrects my thinking if I'm wrong here. Because I've never seen it and am too lazy and/or stuck in my thinking to "try" to prove myself wrong.
Once again, its way past my bedtime, I'm laying here in bed trying to figure out what in actually trying to say. Probaly talking out my arse again.

As far as I know AT&T has the same with the new Sony NGP or Vita as they all it , probably because the carrier has some unlimited monthly data plan or something that can be shared of as a personal hotspot, I don't know really, one of the many marketing strategies. Could sell the Wifi version cheaper with some sort of portable internet router on a plan. The company SMART here does that, they sell you this tiny little pocket router with a 3G sim in it and there was an offer for the iPad non WiFI included.
And it's all good mate It's still very informative stuff, I haven't touched or kissed US soil in order to know what goes on with their carrier plans, I admire the fact you being updated, for someone in his prime >:]
And yeah, I think/assume it does unlock it because my tablet no longer shows the locked logo when booting it to fastboot

I there, I just flashed the stock ROM for the 3.2 Android version on my 7500 using Odin and my carrier logo was replaced by the Samsung logo. My Tab is still locked to my carrier because I decided not to unlock it yet - didnt find a cheapper carrier anyways
So simply by flashing a stock rom of a newer android version I was able to replace my carrier boot logo for the samsung one... Is this what you want?

Hi all,
I read a lot of stuff about locked bootloader and scary stories of bricked tab.
I saw the great videos from qbking about rooting and flash about odin (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462961)
but it never mentionned locked bootloader.
I bought a retail 10.1 tab without any carrier stuff but I assume that my BL is also locked.
Is it safe to follow the root and flash process without unlocking its BL ?
Regards.

I flashed an entire new version of Android (3.2) with Odin and found no problems. Another thing, I have my Tab since November and only last week unlock it from carrier... just for fun!

Thanks viarizi !
Did you unlock your tab before flashing your 3.2 image ?
Regards.

Actualy I unlocked it from carrier 3 weeks after flashing new droid version.
First I unrooted it, then flashed new droid version with Odin, finaly unlock it from carrier using a regular Samsung phone unlocker software (unfortunely I dont know which one just that it had roms for almost all Samsung phones).

Can someone please explain if the bootloader is locked or not (if you don't see the unlocked padlock)? I don't get how we can manipulate the kernel if they're locked... Are they (kernels) getting replaced, or is something else happening to them when I flash a ROM (ie. pershoot's CM9)? Also, is there a method to unlock the GT-P7510 bootloader if it is locked? Would fastboot work?
Sorry for confusing you, I've just read so many different things about the bootloader I'm lost now!

I just rooted a SGH-T959 phone with superoneclick, sucess,Can this "one click root" apply to galaxy tabs? all of the eventually?? Like revoulutionary to the 10.1 tabs?? I know,I sound lazy...

[Q] Updating Samsung Vibrant

I have a Unlocked Samsung Vibrant from T Mobile. I unlocked it after rooting superuser, busybox and using SGSUnlock.. My phone currently have
Firmware - 2.2
Baseband - T959UVKA6
Kernel - 2.6.32.9
Build No - FROYO.UVKA6
My question which is the best OS for my phone.?
Can the phone be upgraded to that OS without Locking?
And if Locked how to Unlock it again?
THANKS IN ADVANCE..
If by unlocked, you mean rooted, by all means keep it rooted. As for os and roms, i find that it's best to test them out and see what you like. I ran bionic for a while and recently switched to MIUI which is an amazing rom. Follow noob in 3D guide on how to install miui and give it a shot.
If by unlocked, you mean carrier unlocked, then no it will not relock when you flash another ROM, it will stay unlocked.
Depends on your taste. I've ran bionix, trigger, and many other roms. Miui, surpasses them all in customizabilty. If you want a truly custom experience use my guide (link in signature and stickied in this section) that will take you step by step through flashing the rom. However, expect slight more battery drain compared to Froyo (2.2). That's a flaw of gingerbread (2.3) based roms.

I am particularly interest in this part. I have read the reviews on the market and half of them say it "bricked" their phones and other say it worked. Please elaborate if you will on this. EFS/IMEI is something not to be messed with, so that is one thing I am leary about.
I want to unlock mine, however my carrier is notoriously stubborn when it comes to that. So much so they actually tell customers to go to the corner places and have them do it.
So this app, "sgs_unlock", will remove the carrier lock if you have one?
(Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread Woodrube. I just was curious because I had never heard of being able to do this before.)

Yup it worked like a charm for me, so I could, insert a different Sim card into my T959, and start running, Simple Mobile!!
Used to run T-Mobile, but now fully open to any GSM type of provider!!
Thread hijack, but other than inserting another SIM how do you know you are unlocked? I just used Galaxy Unlock in the market, mainly bc it had far fewer negative reviews and made backup of efs folder. Is there somewhere to look to see if it is truly unlocked? Some file created?

Total noob in regards to Sony and customizing

I'm not sure where to start in regards to Sony.
I myself have a Galaxy S2 and read the Bible there and got great advice/suggestions in the forums, but the Sony bit has me confused.
I have an old Xperia X10a sitting collecting dust (it's about 2-3 years old now) and since a relative wants to get a smartphone and an Android more specifically, I thought this would be perfect for her, in case she were to mishandle it or lose it.
So first, I have to unlock the phone.
Then what I'm confused about is this so called "bootloader", is this something I need to worry about or not?
So unlock phone, then, what?
Thanks in advance.
Meant to put this in Q&A, sorry Mods.

You don't need to unlock the bootloader. just follow this thread that root it, install the Xrecovery(0.3) and flash donutHD 2.2.9 and you never have to worry about anything else. Or and unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with sim unlocking to work on different network.
So tell me how it went and ask any questions.

Lol flashing is hard for this phone e compared to others. Half the time the kernels don't flash because there's only two files in it instead of a lot for the loader.bin. like the othernight I flashed a kernal and wifi was broke and the phone was stuck sideways. Its different and I understand I'm in the same boat. Took me almost 13 hours to get this thing to stay rooted and unlocked. Used superoneclick to root and everything said I was except the flashtool lol.

All kernels that I tested was flashed with no problems. the .bin files aren't problem. All kernels which I had worked as they should. Wifi was not broken, and if it was broken, theres an update package to fix this, or you can ask in thread whats the problem that wifi is not running. ...... well sry man but I havent got problems with rooting or flashing. I think this phone is the easy task not the hard one.

I agree with harviak.. I had only one issue till now n that was when I was a complete noob and hadn't followed the steps correctly. I got it workin myself after that. So don't get scared of customizing.
Btw if ur cousin is on a different network and ur x10a is locked to a certain network then the bootloader has ntn to do with what u need. U need to remove the simlock. Look for an appropriate guide here on xda
And if u feel interested in putting in a custom ROM unlock ur bootloader (look for a thread called flashtool and check out the guides there)

[Q] Rooting without unlocking bootloader?

Not sure where to post this.
Anyway, I want to know if it's possible to root an Android without unlocking the bootloader. My problem is I don't want anything wiped off the phone. I'm trying to get past the lock screen, because I found this phone in the street, so I want to get the numbers in it to try and return it. I've heard you can bypass the lockscreen if it's rooted. It's a Samsung Galaxy S Mesmerize, (or Fascinate).
PS its not stolen. I'm not gonna downgrade from a nexus 4 to this, and it's in such horrible condition I cant sell it.
Yeah, it sure is possible but its device specific. I rooted a s4 that still has a locked bootloader, but I know that you have to with an HTC. Good luck!

Am i right in thinking you are coming from an iPhone? Rooting an android phone isn't like jailbreaking in the sense that no matter what firmware you have, you can still root your phone and flash custom ROMs.

No, never had an iphone, never will i hope. I have had several android phones (moto defy, galaxy s/s2/s3, xperia s, htc desire hd). My qustion is whether it's a complicated method or is it root->cwm->flash type of thing...I just got it and don't wanna mess anything badly without knowing.
Haha nevermind, it was just asking for registering my device. Oddly enough it's already update, don't know if it's normal.
Anyways i would like to have some info about how flashing works on S3 because i have had phones where "unlocking bootloader" and actually letting the company know that the device has been unlocked like in xperia s case. So i just need some info regarding the method. Also some info whether it's worth flashing a specific version or rom out there that provides a better overall experience than stock.

All of the GT-i9300 phones (that's the model number for the international version) have the boot loader unlocked. All you need to do is, like you said, root it, flash CWM, and flash the ROM of your choice.
Samsung did implement a flash counter which will turn from 0 to 1 when anything is flashed, there is an app on the play store that can change it back to 1 called Triangle Away.
Personally i use cyanogenmod, if you don't know, it is the most popular ROM right now (i think) and it is based on AOSP (the Android source code from Google) but with many tweaks and added features that make it much faster and a better experience than stock. Right now I'm running the unofficial KitKat 4.4 version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529775
A lot of people get scared by the word "unofficial" but after a few weeks of running it i haven't had a single issue.
I use a custom kernel so i can overclock and undervolt, it's the boeffla 2.1-beta2.
http://boeffla.df-kunde.de/sgs3/boe...st/boeffla-kernel-CM-2.1-beta2-cm11.0.CWM.ziphttp://boeffla.df-kunde.de/sgs3/boeffla-kernel-cm/cm11.0_download/Test/boeffla-kernel-CM-2.1-beta2-cm11.0.CWM.zip
wait so the counter stays at 1? no way to make it 0?
Oh sorry, typo Triangle Away resets the counter to 0

Galaxy S9+ screen Jittering

Hey all, i wanted to ask if anyone is having the same problem as me.
So i bought a new Galaxy s9+ (G9650) and im experiencing some issues when slowly dragging my finger across the screen. It happens both in portrait mode and landscape. If i were to say... scroll across an image veeeery slowly or Play a game that requires fine accuracy (PUBG Mobile, its how i found the problem), the screen would start to jump around very slightly and repeatedly. If anyone has this problem or knows how to solve it please let me know. Thanks!

No, no changes in anything. I did not even have developer options enabled. i did read about it and tried them but no success. I have been using the OEM charger and cable and never used anything else to charge it. it also happens when in google chrome, maps, Quora, etc. The problem seems to get aggravated when i charge the phone. If that doesn't work im going all out and flashing a De-bloated firmware (Goodbye Knox and Samsung pay)

Im currently downloading the Firmware as i said, i read somewhere about Product code changing while installing a firmware, would that be a sign to the warranters that someone messed with the device and would refuse to service my device? also, i read about Brazilian Firmware being closest to BTU (Bloatware free Android) but sammobile's link is not working ? Don't know if your device has an unlocked bootloader - If it doesn't - Then you can't really Flash anything that could void your warranty - Even if you don't change the CSC that shouldn't do anything to your warranty - it's Stock Samsung Firmware - Doesn't seem like you're too familiar with what you are trying to do - You might want to do some more reading & research ??

I know a thing or 2 (Just gotta catch up on some terms) ? Had an Honor 5 with Cyanogen and an S4 rooted and running AOSP. im just rying to be veeeeeeery cautious since i worked very hard for this phone and i dont wanna brick it or loose warranty. I really apreciate your input on this topic. I spoke with the previous phone owner to see if i could get a purchase reciept and bring it in for warranty repair, untill then i wont touch the phone. if all else fails, then im flashing De-bloated firmware and crying my phone to repair every time i use it ????. I have the worst of lucks ?
Is there a forum for newbies that explain all these terms? it would be nice for all them people trying to get the most out of their phones but arent very tech savvy.
