Boot into recovery/bootloader - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I was wondering if there is a way to boot into recovery, or get into the recovery when the phone is off. I've done a lot of searching, but the ways described will not work (power on with left and right key under the display pressed down)
Does anyone have any solid knowledge on this? It would be much appreciated.

U have to turn on phone and (if u have doomkernel) keep pressing back when blue led appears. If not just keep pressing back when u turn on till it appears (it's not back and menu at same time it either or and menu won't do anything unless u have doomkernel

I could be wrong but as I understand it you must have power from the device in order to access recovery as recovery is either in kernel (ubl) or on nand,, both can only be supplied power from the handset, you cannot use them like an external drive.

Laneyofdeath: thank you, it worked. Strange that this information is so hard to find. Anyways, i appreciate it
And for the other reply, i know i need power, but i wanted to boot into recovery from off status. Perhaps i did not explain myself good enough.

Not sure what u mean pal. Do u mean boot to recovery whilst device is switched off?
Sent from my X10 using XDA

There are just no button combinations for recovery for the X10.
The only way to get into recovery is to spam the back(xrec)/volume down(cwm) when the kernel boot screen lights up.

What i meant was to get into recovery from when the device is off. And power + hit backbutten when le wild blue light appears worked ;-) thank you guys for your help

solution for Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i with Recovery menu

You have to hold down BOTH the volume up and down button's, then press and hold the power button, once you see the "vibrant" in white letters pop up, release JUST THE POWER button...
I always have to use 2 hands to get into recovery....not talented enough to do it one handed.
Try it that way
Im sorry for the confusion...i wanted to get to the RECOVERY MODE by using the 3 bottons combo.
I know I can get into recovery mode by using ROM MANAGER or VOODOO WIDGET, or hit POWER button and reboot into recovery.
However, I want to try out CM7 room and the instructions said to use the 3 buttons combo. I have tried holding vol. up , down and power. Release power button and still holding up and down vol buttons, but phone just boot to bootlogo and not recovery mode.

Are you holding power all the way until the Vibrant logo shows? All 3 should be held constantly... once you see the vibrant logo, you can let go of power only (maintain volume buttons).
You are probably doing this, just making sure.

The ota from jfd to, was it ji6? Supposedly fixed hwl'd phones.
You could try flashing that. Can't hurt... Worst case, it doesn't work just odin back.

I hold all 3 buttons until the Vibrant word flashes once, then I let go of power only. Works every time.
Try that too.

Shot in the dark here but did you flash the speedmod kernel that was linked to the CM7 page. If so thats an i9000 kernel and I think that will screw up the 3 button combo.

Try flashing one of the 2.3 compatible kernels built specifically for the Vibrant. That might solve your problem.

Did you try to wipe battery status in xRecovery?
When?
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
Do you have xRecovery or CWM Recovery installed in your device?
If yes, you can do this:
- Charge your phone to 100%;
- Unplug the charger and turn you phone off;
- Hold the back button and turn your phone on;
- When Sony Ericcson logo appears, you will notice that the status led of your phone will be on. You can release the back button now;
- A recovery menu will appear. Use volume rockers to navigate, home button to choose an option and back button to back (lol);
- Navigate and find the option "wipe battery status", it's in one of the last menus;
- Reboot your phone, and see if the battery is 100%.
You can see the procedure here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943626
I will try this.

Would be quite unlikely to hardbrick from recovery flash, especiallybif you flash right stuff for S3....can you get to download mode, even if you cannot, try download mode combo and plug phone to odin, does it wreckingnize it? Does phone show something (galaxy s3 bootscreen) or screen stays compleetely black?

Screen is completely black and will not start using (Volume - + Home Button + On/Off), does not appear on my computer when connected, does not appear on Odin.

A usb jig will help you if you can get your hands on one.
Sent using xda app-developers app
I live in a rural area and I dont know what a usb jig is or how its used.
This phone cost more than the moon and the stars!!!! How am i ever going to fix this!!!!????
Have you tried taking the battery out and putting it back in? I had a similar issue with my note 2. I flash something and it was just a black screen. Power button, home button, and volume button did nothing for me. I took out the battery and put it back in and I saw the samsung splash screen and went back to the black screen. So I had to take the battery out, hold down the volume, home, and power button and push the battery in. It was a pain to do. Having a second person may make it easier. But give that a go.

New day new problem mate! (just kidding)
Did you install any mods? Are you sure it's not releated with the debloat you made?
EDIT: I found also this guide for force shut down:
1.Power + Vol Up + wait for 3 rumbles (make it 4 if you count the first standalone rumble)
2.It will be a total shutdown and you can start your phone normally by pressing Power key again...
Factory reset helped. Sill dont know what was the problem.

Tablet S boot loop?

So yeah, one night my Sony Tablet S shut down in sleep mode like it does occasionally. Next morning when I tried turning it on, it stayed on the booting animation for several minutes. Did several hard resets and tried again to no avail. Even tried letting it run out of battery, charging, and then booting but no dice. I've never rooted or modified my tablet. Any help? Or do I need to get a new one? I've had this tablet for almost 2 years now and it's served me well, no problems like this before.
Thanks!

Did you make all system updates? What was your release number?

I was on the latest release for the original Tablet S. 4.0.3 release 5a, was it?
Is there anyway to factory reset this damn thing from the "outside" using adb or something?
Did you try to flash the original sony Firmware in recovery Mode?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
Try going into recovery mode. When tablet is powered off, hit power button and volume up button together and hold volume up button for a while. When android recovery menu comes up, make a factory reset from there.
