Never used it before until today, and I must say it has quite a useful interface.
I used to use programs to send texts and stuff from my computer when the phone was charging and this does that. Also drag and drop files from computer wirelessly. I know this isn't new news, but, I never used it until today and haven't really found anything I don't like yet.
Listen to any music on your phone, view your recorded videos, pretty much access the entire phone from within this interface.
Anyone who hasn't checked this out should try it. Pretty cool.
Kies is actually pretty good better than most OEM's stuff. And the web version kiesair is great.
Yeah I like it. Though it seems to have problems reading my contacts/sms messages.

Haven't tried it before now, its connecting as I write this so I'll see how it goes. Didn't work from Opera so I'm trying it from IE...
I played around with it for 20 minutes. Seems to work ok, a bit slow to load and play videos within the interface so next time I use it I'll try to save the file locally first to see how long that takes.

Music when connecting to Kies Air
I dont know if its just my phone or anybody has experienced this:
Everytime I open Kies Air on my Galaxy Note, a weird samsung tune is playing on the background and can only be stopped if you are already connected with another device or if you press stop.
I hate the music, anybody got an Idea how to make it stop, well other than muting the phone.

I liked Airdroid better, although I've found 2 minor problems. One, it doesn't show your videos, only pictures. Have to use its file-view feature to find them. Second, if multiple texts come in at once (a message divided over multiple text msgs), it will only show the first one unless you refresh the page.

Does anyone know if there is a way to bookmark in videos on the vibrant?
I have some workout videos that i regularly watch, but i hate having to skip through the intros and figure out where the actual workout starts, and it would be so much easier to just bookmark that spot. Or on some documentaries be able to bookmark certain spots that i want to remember.

hmmmm i wonder what the problem is, because even when i play avatar and press menu, the only option that pops up is "via blutooth"...
is there a video playing app someone could recomend that might do this?

Uhm... you can just drag and drop you know. Or are you talking about just connecting to your PC and it syncing automatically?
Assuming you have wifi in your house, turn on wifi on your phone and then go and turn on Kies air on your phone (it is in your app drawer)
kies air will give you a web address to browse to, like (http://192.168.1.10:8080) the numbers will vary depending on your home network.
All you have to do then is use your PC web browser (Internet Explorer/ Firefox /Chrome etc) to browse to the address given by kies, when you get there you can transfer all the pictures, video and music you want to and from your phone !
Yeah but you direct connect will be much faster than kies air. if he wants to put all his music on the phone, direct connection is much better.

I can't argue with that, realistic speed over usb is 6 megabytes/sec (48 Mbit) where as over the air I would guess around half that although not tried it.

i use wifi explorer on my galaxy S. i can copy a 700mb video file onto the phone in about 30 seconds. on wifi it takes a couple minutes. if he's doing that with a few gigs of files... well yeeah lol.

Or I assume you can just use the Kies desktop client on your computer. You're going to need to install it if you want to root your phone anyway (for the drivers, unless something has changed)
If your collection is properly tagged then sideloading is the quickest and easiest option. Maintaining a properly tagged connection makes device changeovers much, much, simpler. If you tags are a mess it'll be a bit of an investment in time sorting them out, but thereafter you're good to go. Mp3tag and Mediamonkey are two programs with good reputations, I use mp3tag.
Just plug in the cable to your computer and drag and drop to the phone. Done.
If you have the Microsoft drivers installed for S2 (not the crap Kies software), you can use Windows Media Player to sync all your music and videos into phone. I explained into a thread how I installed the MS drivers to enable proper communication with the device.
Audiogalaxy rocks. It works over net. I live in Austin and was able to stream while in Puert Rico like I was at home on my pc.

I really don't have uber high demands for my phones, I just expect them to work and fill my what I believe to be simple needs. I'm hoping that I can list some of my issues and possibly get some positive feedback to help weed through issues, not only for me but for other users. I know this phone has a lot of passionate followers, I can definitely say, I'm not one of them.
I don't mind rooting at all, but cannot lose 4g capabilities. I know I've seen some locked OSs, any suggestions would be appreciated. I also bought this phone based on my ideals behind Tegra and the SIM slot as I'll be doing some world travel within the next few months. Now to some issues I've had...
Default Music player - efing sucks. If there isn't a good 30secs of lag loading media from the external SD card, the damn thing crashes after 3-4 songs. I fully understand that rooting will get through this issue with a different (hopefully android default) media player. But I'm struggling to find why this is an issue outside of poor development. Have about 8GB worth of music on either a 16gb or 32gb SD card. Wipe Dvcache and NO PROBLEMS with same memory card.
Camera - Can't shut off shutter sound? What the hell were Motorola software techs thinking? Yes the camera is very good, but what the fizzle? I ironically heavily considered this phone over the GS2 because of the dedicated camera button. Only to be frustrated thanks to the inability to take ninja photos.
Multi-Touch - I had issues with multi point touching. Multidev gave some direction here, which if I root my phone later today, I'll definitely go in this direction.
BT Media Stream - Specifically with the Sync in Ford vehicles. I've used it in both a 2011 Focus (sync 3.0) and my 2011 Mustang (sync 2.0) and repeated the same issue detailed in this thread. Completely drives me up the wall, as I have not had this issue with any of the roms I ran previously on my Evo4g. Everything else works well with Sync, including making and receiving calls and text/email notification.
I'm sure there's been a few more issues that I've had slip my mind. But, I guess I'm really just hoping that I can use the benefits of this phone without continuing to 'deal with' the shortcomings of owning a handset that isn't going to sell 500k units and get the kind of manufacturer and homebrew software support of a phone that has sold 500k units.

i use google music app, not the moto one and i love it.. ive had NO issues with it what so ever.. and it is THE default android player
camera is annoying but you are required to be rooted to remove it.. dunno if anyone has or not tho. any third party app should still work with the button etc etc
as for bluetooth.. no idea again may be solved by removing the current music app and putting googlemusic on there (use titanium backup to remove the moto music player )

I guess the only other thing I'm looking for in a rom is just general speed. The phone flys when it comes to opening programs and program performance, but the general speed of menu access and transitioning from one base mode to the next leaves a lot to be desired. Just getting in and out of text messages takes just too damn long.

I have been through about 5 replacement Photon's and need to replace it again after the holidays, (Motorola has finally fixed the problem with it officially, YAY!) Now, you shouldn't be complaining compared to what I have been through.

I have not had a stable music player, other than Rhapsody, that didn't crash or force close on me, including, Music, Google Music, Honeycomb Music, & Player Pro.
I personally hate the Rhapsody interface and I am forced to deal with it.

First copy and save to it to sd first incase you want it back cause delete is permanent.
Set system to rw then delete
Delete camera sound ogg.

I wasn't aware of the Multi touch problem, and I have ran into my touch screen locking problem yesterday while playing Mario Kart 64 yesterday.
I backed up my touch screen folder, and replaced it with the 8 multi touch files.
That is a deal breaker, but I'm glad to have the solution.
Edit: I tried Mario Kart again, but the touch screen continues to lock up after holding down "A" for a bit (to accelerate). Did Motorola lock how long you can press down on the screen?
Yes, I tried the multi touch app and they register all 8 touches.

I wish I could remember when it started but I can't, probably sometime in the last 3 months. In the beginning it was very rarely happening but now it is ridiculous. It happens with the default music app (my car automatically grabs the music off my phone via BT when I am near it) and Spotify. It happens if I am connected via Bluetooth, or if I am using an aux cord, or if I am just playing it off my phone, both with and without earbuds. I can't find an external reason for it, the phone can be sitting untouched on my desk and it will just pause the music randomly. I then have to turn on the phone to press the play button to continue listening. Any ideas?
Oh, and my phone is not rooted and I have the lollipop update. Thanks!
If you want you can download this app and start running it while your playing your music it SHOULD capture everything in the system as it is happening: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.infamous.logcat then just copy everything audio releated. You can also search, see by us seeing whats going on in the system we can better determine it. Who knows maybe you have found a new bug in the lg software :good:

Sorry, I just now checked back. I have been using the log, but am not familiar with it and I have no clue how to use it. I have recorded/saved logs but I don't know how to access them to even look at them and I haven't had time to read up on how to use it. My fault for dropping the ball. As soon as I can find the logs on my phone I will post something. Thank you for following up with me.
Well I have made logs and I can't see anything on them at all pertaining to the music pausing. The program is extremely slow when I try to 'record'. The last time took 8 minutes just to load the recorder. I tried to export the log to post but after 15 minutes of the program "compiling', I gave up. The problem is extremely frustrating as some days I can run for 30+ minutes with no problems and then all of a sudden every few minutes/seconds the music pauses, which of course then interrupts my run (I'm training for a half marathon and this is stressing me out, lol!). Same goes for in my car; everything is fine and then boom! it's just pause, pause, pause, pause, over and over. I am at a loss.
Anyway, I'm just going to wipe the phone and start over, one app at a time. Maybe something weird is somehow conflicting.

Well, just following up in case anyone comes across this same problem and stumbles upon my post.
Before wiping my phone I started making backups of my stuff, I had also done as much possible searching to see if anyone else was having this issue. Well, when I got to my Fitbit app, I remembered that some people had issues (not identical, but sort of similar) with their Android activity trackers and their phone, which made me wonder if I was having the issue too. I have been using the Fitbit app with a Fitbit One with no problems. In January I upgraded to the Fitbit Charge, which uses the same app, BUT the Charge also connects to the phone through the app via Bluetooth so that phone calls will show up on the Charge display. Anyway, I uninstalled the Fitbit app and I have not had the issue since then. So I am guessing there is something with the app, the Charge, and the phone not working together.

Hello all.
I think a lot of people had some kind of problems with whatsapp in windows phone, but ultimately they were just a minnor annoyance.
However, since the last 2 updates of whatsapp (the ones which adds Status), the backround task stops working after a small while.
I have marked Whatsapp to run always under lockscreen, but this doesn't seem to be working.
For instance, I enabled and watched the phone' web portal looking for the WhatsApp.ServerHost.exe. After a while, it disappears and Whatsapp Web just says "Phone not connected".
However, if I go to the "Apps" in the same web portal, and launch whatsapp, it of course comes back to life, and Whatsapp Web works again.
Is there a way to make it work ALWAYS?
I mean, anything else besides that setting that I've mentioned. I guess I could write a simple c# in my PC (or even better, in the phone) doing this, but thats a waste of processing power.

PS: My phone is a Lumia 1020 @ 14393.448, it has 2GB of RAM and I dont think it closes the applications because ram is low...

Um here seems to still quit working randomly. It works for about 10 or 20 minutes when the phone is locked. I've developed a small tool that launches whatsapp if it sees the service is not running (using the web portal of the phone). That makes the whatsapp web happy for a while, but im getting tired of this.
Oh and by the way, the notifications seems to be working OK, but the problem resides in the whatsapp web, which shows "phone not connected" (as I stated in the first post)
