system really slow after upgrading to 2.3.3 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi. after a long wait, I decided to upgrade my xperia x10 to gingerbread android. it looks cool, but it became reeeeally slow. everything is slow, from switching home screens to playing games. but the main problem is when i try to listen some music. i get a break every 10 seconds or so. it is so annoying!
I upgraded manually to 2.3.3 because the update was never available for me (I'm in brazil, and heard something about SE having to upgrade themselves, that you had to send them your handset so their techs would upgrade it) so since that's just stupid, i did it myself. along with it i rooted my phone, and installed recovery thing.
since 2.3.3 was really slow, i googled and found the jit enabler thing. installed it with the xrecovery and my phone wouldn't boot anymore. so i had to flash 2.3.3 again, this time i cleared everything, rooted again and everything. it's still very slow, i installed task killers and everything i could to improve performance, but 2.1 was way faster. songs are a little better now, but still annoying.
what to do now?
ty

Flash Fps uncap, it will boost your speed dramatically, also flash the music stutter fix
Sent from my X10i using xda premium

I had the same problem when I upgraded to 2.3.3, very laggy, even installed Jit enabler and got it stuck on SE logo, had to reinstall the rom again too. I'm using a custom rom and it's a very different phone now...fast no lag. You've rooted your phone, maybe it's time to take the next logical step.

Away from stock
Above poster has it right, try installing another's ROM now, WB has it down i think. You can also try a different Launcher( i use Launcher Pro) and a different Music app( i use Poweramp) use TB to remove all unwanted apps. move all your pictures and video, media, to SD card, but ensure your SD card isn't too big or too full, sometime an SD card with too much junk on it will slow everything down, such as with an sd card that is bigger then 16MB or a cheap one.

flash FPS as the others said, or just go and root it straight ahead and flash a rom. they are pretty stable by now without any probs! i use Donut HD and i had NO problems at all!

I also updated my x10i and its also quite slow, so how do i flash the fps uncap (please step by step, i am a noob xD) do i have to root it first?

[Q] Queries from a Fresh Optimus one Owner :)

Hi, I just bought an Optimus One P500 from Letsbuy and got it delivered yesterday.
I didn do anything freaky and tested the Battery Life of the same.
After first Full charge for 3.5hrs, I started using the phone.
The phone lasted almost 22Hrs ( 6.30 PM -> Next Day 4.30 PM)
All the default apps and settings were maintained, I didn change any.
Usage Scenario
Phone Calls - 50 Mins
SMS - 150 +
Wifi Browsing - 1hr
Music playback - 15mins
Video Playback - 15mins.
As I was checking out various features of the phone, I always used ma phones display except when I slept.
Now before I go tweaking and rooting the phone I need to know few things.
1. I am planning to Root with Gingerbreak as ma phone is 2.2.1 wid V10C firmware. So what are the Risks invloved in Rooting. Does this void warranty?
2. What all are the Apps I could safely Remove from my Phone via Rooting. I dont want that Vaccine Cleaner or any Bloatware in ma phone.
3. My Phone memory got decreased to 155 Mb from 170 MB, I didn install any app. Just synced ma Contact list wid Facebook and Gmail. What may be the reason?
4. What should I do to increase My phones Internal Memory other than using App2SD?
5. Any problems when updating to 2.2.2 after rooting? Any issues with 2.2.2 ? Does it solve any current issues ?
phone is less laggy with 2.2.2
if you root you void your warranty
after routing you can remove any app that came pre loaded with your phone.
to increase internal memory you can move the applications to sd card, some applications may not move to sd card. low phone memory does not hamper the performance of the phone. applications run/load faster if they are on the phone memory
One thing you should know is that the sdcard which comes with phone isn't very good, and it can be automatically unmounted sometimes. This is because it's a class 2 sdcard.
So you may want to buy a class 6 or higher sdcard. The more the class, the best performance you get.
Reply to question 4
You can try clearing cache.
Search for cache cleaner on market.
thanks for the fast reply. are you sure Rooting will void warranty. i hav read that the phone can be brought back to the original sTate and thus it won't void warranty. i would like to know a final word regarding this.
if we remove an app after rooting can the phone brought back to factory state.
Also i have say 6 albums n ma picasa so if i sync it where will these pics get stored? i dnt want ma phn memory to be filld up by pics.
It is possible to flash original software back on your phone using kdz updater which will remove the presence of any customization on the phone(root, custom recovery, custom rom etc.) And make your phone appear unmodified for all practical purposes.
Read the following thread for instructions -
HOWTO] Rooting, Installing -Android SDK, Custom Recovery, Custom ROM's
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
During ur initial days of use of ur phone, battery life will be shorter. That will change and the battery life will increase in a few days. Happens with all new battery. And if you plan to u use stock instead of custom ROM update ur phone to the latest V10E before u root ur phone. This is a root able version with Ginger break.
Rooting your phone would void your warranty but you cal always unroot using the latest version of Gingerbreak so that wont be problem. I suggest you upgrade to 2.2.2 and then root.

when you root ur phone.. you can always flash a custom rom for more internal space abd better performance.. try mik_os Cm mod
Thanks guys.
So I will post my status as of now.
I rooted using Gingerbreak
Installed Move2SD Enabler and set default location to Memory Card(2GB)
Installed Rockplayer Pro
Installed PowerAmp Pro
Installed Terminal Emulator
Installed Juice Defender Ultimate
Unrooted phone using Gingerbreak
Now My Doubts are :-
1. Am going to Update to 2.2.2 as I am currently in Unrooted State. Any issues with that ?
2. I really wish to remove all that Vaccine, Bollywood, Picsay, LG adviser, LG App Installer etc from my phone for ever. But If I remove them, can they be recovered. Also if I Uninstall using Titanium can I later Upgrade to Gingerbread when Its released by LG.
3. What is Custom recovery. I read the guide and every stuff here, but I still got that confusing. What are the uses of loading custom recovery.
4. Is custom recovery of any good for me ( I dont intend to use custom ROM now) Is it important to do Custom Recovery for Stock Roms ?

1. Don't think there will be an issue updating. But u should have done it after updating as there has been some who's been saying updating after rooting has been a lil tricky. Try this thread for more info : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041528
2.You can remove them. Don't think there will be an issue. but try freeze option to be safe. I removed all of them accept for LG adviser and install. No problems.
3. Custom recovery is similar to the BIOS of the computer. U can use it to wipe all the data from ur phone memory, Install custom ROM, etc.
4. U don't need it if u plan to only use Stock.
Thanks, as per your advice I unrooted and updated my Optimus One to V2.2.2 aka V10E.
And now I rooted again with gingerbreak and removed bloatware with Titanium Backup.
Can you guys suggest a Startup Cleaning software as we have MSConfig in windows ?

Hi, I'm a new user but hey, android is familiar with me lol Okay, for your questions, these are your answers!
1.Rooting basically allows you and apps to access to important system files. One thing good is that it allows you to set CPU Speed and other stuff.(Go Market and search for 'root'!)One thing bad is if you accidentally delete any file (Oppsies!) , then your phone risk getting BRICKED So, make your decision wisely! (p.s. I rooted mine!)
2.You can remove everything you want but remember, your phone can stop functioning if you accidentally maybe uninstall like...market? It's really your choice
3.Usually it is due to some stupid cache, go market download 'Cache Cleaner' or something like that to clean the cache.
4.For this question...Apps2sd is ur best bet but you can try link2sd too . Jkjk, to increase your internal memory, you can:
1)Do Q2 (Uninstall system apps lol)
2)Take apart your phone and install another chip or something like that
3)If above options do not work for you, use Apps2sd or Link2sd!
5.Based on my opinion, no, rooting does not affect update. Issues? I'm not sure but one thing is for sure, your choice!
I REALLY HOPED I hELPED YOU! Gotta continue my Optimus one gamee!!!!

Hmmm....Go market and search for startup auditor or autorun lol
There's cache cleaner that is packaged in void echo rom. You can set time for automatic cleaning of cache say every 3 days etc.
Other system related stuff that comes from that rom include:
Watchdoglite >> monitor running apps that eat too much of your cpu so you can end it
Spareparts >> let's you monitor what apps eat your battery
Setcpu >> with this you can overlock your phone for best performance or you can set it to your desired frequency for battery saving purposes. Depends on what you want
Fast Reboot >> this automatically restarts all your apps/running backgrounds without needing to reboot the phone
Thanks guys you saved the day. I installed Startup manager but it lists only a few stuff. Anyways did some tweaking and happy as a clam.
Thank you guys
Custom recovery not necessity if u don't want to flash custom rom.
You will be able to update from LG if u have just rooted and removed some bloat.
All the bloatware will come back if you upgrade.

1. Not really. Once you root, you will learn how to unroot
2. You can use System app remover. (market)
3. Could be the cache of Facebook and Gmail.
4. Well the first thing is to remove cache that are built up by storing the web and youtube.
5.No , I rooted from 2.2.2 10E and I claim that was the best decision I made so far.
I recommend you to flash fransiscofranco's Devoid rom , efficient and newbie-friendly. However you need to flash custom recovery first to flash anything. If you need help , pm me.
You can thank me by pressing the thank button below.

I dont wanna move to a Custom ROM now.

Is it necessary to calibrate battery after upgrading to v10E or 2.2.2, does an update via LG s/w updater alter the battery calibration values and should i calibrate it again ?

[Q] Latest stable ROM for mini pro?

Hi all,
I have a mini pro/U20i running Eclair, specs as follows;
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006
Kernel: 2.6.29
Build no: 2.0.A.0.504
Rooted, xrecovery installed
I'm looking to upgrade to the latest stable android version available for my phone, but must admit the in-depth tech talk does go over my head a little when looking at the ROM threads. I have enough tech savvy to be able to flash etc, but not too great with the programming speak.
I'd like to ensure that bluetooth, wireless, root, gprs etc are all 100% working on the ROM I upgrade to. Not bothered about radio or anything you can get an alternative of from the market.
From what I've seen gingerbread is available but not yet 100% functional, and I know there are stable Froyo versions available however the requirements state the baseband as above, but ending in 53404015 is required.
Is there considerable risk flashing a ROM if my baseband is slightly different?
I'm particularly looking for stable multitouch too, but the thread I read says manual edit of .sh and .prop files must be done - and I don't know how to do this
Dev and user opinions would be muchly appreciated.
Hi you will need the newer baseband just update with seus then you will need to reroot and install xrecovery again then once you have done that go to this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059361 ) its the most stable I think and dual touch is included so no messing around
Hope this helps you
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
just use the flasher and baseband files from the baseband thread. much faster and easier than using seus and rooting again. just put the rom you want on with xrec, pull the battery out, flash, and youre done! shouldnt take more than 10 minutes once you know what youre doing!
For me, using SEUS is safer, even if I have to root and install xRecovery again.
I you want the most stable ROM with all functions working, you have to choose CM6-MiniCM hybrid noOC from Slade.
I'm using that ROM since he released it and never had a reboot, and everything is working.
If you have stock rom, you should format SD card.

yeah using SEUS is better... and you can reflash after you update using it....
after root and xrec, just make a backup on xrec so you can reflash to 2.1 back... and dont waste time on reflash+root+xrec again.... i did that save lots of time
ps: make sure full wipe+dalvic clear before restore backup... ^^

Yeah, I did it too, but never needed that backup I flashed with SEUS last, when I first updated to slade's ROM

Cyanogen Froyo CM6-Latest (based on MiniCM/CM6v2) - v2.0 + DualTouch is the most stable ROM for me. Just flash using SEUS or flasher to get the required baseband.
I recommend using the flasher because it helps you understand the flashing process. Just follow the tutorial.
Thanks for all your help guys, that's helped me out no end
I am now the proud owner of an x10mp android 2.2.1 (went with Slade's ROM - big thumbs up, it's beautiful!!)
I have one final question.. when I installed the last ROM I had, I used flashtool, so doing it with xrec was a new experience for me... I did notice that before it installed the rom, it said 'formatting /system' or words to this effect.
I need to install the two hotfixes that are posted with the rom - the drain and browser ones... do I package the files within these zips into an update.zip and run again from xrec or can I transfer the updated system files just using root explorer? I'm worried that xrec will take the update.zip as a full rom and will delete the contents of my system folder - please reassure me this isn't the case and it will just update with newer files!
MANY thanks again for your help and advice!

Just use each from xrec, it will replace some file but it won't format your system, only the big release file does that (100MB++).

It depends what formatted, deleted or owerwrited on update script. Don't worry, slade knows what he's doing
Anyway DON'T TRY TO FORMAT YOUR SYSTEM WITHOUT INSTALLING NEW ROM!!!
Just always follow install notes and everything will be fine.

Right then, an update (excuse the pun!)
I followed SEUS to get the xx 4015 baseband
I flashed Slade's noOC rom and then hotfixes using xrecovery
I now have a happy 2.2.1 android mini pro with multitouch!
At first, it was a little slow and I had a few blank screens and FCs....
Screen brightness was very low even when I was actively using the phone, so I unchecked the auto display option and set a brightness I'm happy with. Sorted!
With Titanium I restored my backups, including my wifi connections. Saves having to re-enter all the passwords right? Wrong!
I had a number of connection issues. Data was very slow, to slow to even register my google account on market. Wifi wouldn't load market or bring up anything in the browser...
When I did establish a fast enough data connection, market was completely out of sync with my phone apps.
Turns out the data connection just needed to 'warm up' along with the new android system. As for the wifi, I removed all my connections with the 'forget' option, and manually scanned and entered the passwords again. Now my wifi flies
So all in all, a very smooth upgrade process, a couple of hiccups with the data/wifi and brightness that have been ironed out, and now I am loving my new android again. The multitouch is very slick and having superuser, jit and xrec preinstalled is just brilliant! Games are lag free too which makes a big difference (yep, I'm an Angry Bird club member)
Think I've made my iphone user hubby a bit jealous. I like to remind him every now and then that apple have him by the balls, and he has to buy a whole new phone to do any update such as the one I've just done (again )
The battery drains a little quicker than on the previous rom, but I expect that will settle down after a few days. One thing I have noticed is that I'm repeatedly ending apps with ATK that I hadn't even opened - on my last rom I'd never see anything that I hadn't opened myself.
An example being, just opened ATK and I have the following running;
APN OnOff
Gmail
Maps
None of these I've opened since I last ran ATK Other repeat offenders are Browser, google search and camera,
Any ideas? WhatsApp used to open randomly until I moved it to the SD card. It's behaving itself now.
Don't need to use taskkillers in 2.2.1, android handles battery quite efficiently.
Battery increase is due to overclocking and because it's a custom rom.
Hope that helps.

My battery life has stabilised now. Took phone off charge about 8.30 am and now, 1.30pm it's at 83%, so can't complain
I find apps such as maps and google voice/search do drain the memory quite a bit so still prefer to use atk. Just opened atk to find I have;
maps
handcent
apn OnOff
gmail
google voice
ROM manager (I've never opened this since installing the rom)
calendar
camera
all running and memory at 41M. Killed apps and memory now at 71M
Is there a way to stop these apps from randomly running? Apart from a calendar alert for today, I haven't manually opened anything from the list
cheers,
K
Sorry for ignorance:
Can I flash a rom and do all the nec. stuff from Ubuntu? Or will I need Window$ to flash a mini pro?

It's normal to have applications taking up memory. It is so that it will be speedy in opening those apps so try not to use a taskkiller. The only time these idle apps use battery is when there is CPU usage: so check with your spare parts. If they don't use CPU, no need to kill.
If you're insistent that the apps are frustratingly persistent, then freeze the app using titanium backup. Note that freezing certain system apps may cause problems eg freeze google talk and market won't work.
Try at your own risk.

Problems with SE original rom... help

guys, i had CM7proV21 rom in my mini pro, but i had problems and i used seus to be back to SE original rom with android 2.1...
everything is fine, but i can´t use the camera, it can´t record videos and the still images get errors with strange issues... so in video, it stops and can´t record. Almost on .21 or .40 seconds... and so, tels there is no space as my SDCARD is 16G!!!!
i tried to root the phone again and resintall V20 from the custom ROM, but i can´t get xRecovery to work...
don´t know what to do anymore... help
You should try to use CWM instead of xRec as it's widely used by any of these ROMs, and if I'm not wrong, MiniCMPro (as any other ROM would do) used CWM since V6/V7...
To fix these problems you can try to do a factory reset in CWM and clean dalvik or reinstall MiniCMPro, do a factory reset (in ROM and CWM, wipe everything (cache, dalvik) and then using SEUS to restore the original ROM, or maybe use pfonck's '2.1.1.Clean.0.0' ROM instead
Good luck!

Hi, azhhael !!
1: I had almost same video problems on MiniCM7pro V21 (you said CM7proV21 ??) as yours before.
So I did reinstalled, then it problems to solved.
2: Did you read post of everything on the thread of [ROM]MiniCM7Pro - V21 + Lite Versions by Paul-xxx again ?
There are so many good hint for you. So you should to read [who given important hint] by your self, I think...
3: You said [resintall V20 from the custom ROM (?)], is that meaning [already to installed MiniCM7Pro V20]
You said [i can´t get xRecovery to work], but maybe you must have Cwm recovery v3.2.0.0 r4 or later.
If you don't have any [ClockWorkMod (CWM)], I think [link of following] is most easy way to enable CWM.
Try it !!
[RECOVERY] ClockWorkMod Installer - Windows v4 - Linux v4
Thx to Paul-xxx and rect2409
pls: I love custom rom of Paul-xxx too and I think a he is artist of genius.
So sometimes hard to enable. But when overcome the problems, can got another awesome world.
By the way....I'm very sad about he lost the his u20i...
Sorry about my very bad English.

OK i know ur worried abt ur phone... but dude.... this is the DEV forum!! ur question should be in the QnA Forum!!!!
having said that, i dont understand what u want...
do u want stock rom on ur phone??(if so use SEUS)
do u want video recording to work for longer time??(if so clear ur micro SD card as u said it's full)
do u want minicm pro to work correctly?? (if so then wipe data in CWM recovery and then install miniCMpro's latest zip)
He already used SEUS, but his camera isn't working. You got it wrong.
About your problem, try reinstall SEUS and use it again (I haven't found the update files). Maybe the Android got corrupted in the download.
Sorry for english, btw

If I having fee time, I want try to reinstall MiniCM7Pro v21 on my device for the check but I don't have much time at now.
If you had only video recording problem, relatively easy to understand.
But now you had also phone call problems, maybe it is not MiniCM7Pro v21's problem I think..
So let's one more try:
SEUS (download & Install) again -> Flash SE latest firmware -> Root -> Install CWM -> Download & Install MiniCM7Pro v21 again
And Let's write on the note about what do you do at each steps every time for make recipe of Install custom roms
When you got good result, it recipe will can help another people in here !!

everything is fine, but i can´t use the camera, it can´t record videos and the still images get errors with strange issues... so in video, it stops and can´t record. Almost on .21 or .40 seconds... and so, tels there is no space as my SDCARD is 16G!!!! .....

2) That's why, Preferably the original asker should clarify his questions
If SEUS downloads the entire rom, only then will it proceed to install it on your phone. otherwise installation wont even start.. seems like a problem with your SD card buddy...
SD CARD?
OH!!!!!!!! Can the Sd Card cause so much problems in the ROM installation? I though the ROM should be installed in the internal memory!!!! That´s really make sense... cause i got real problems after change my SDCARD from 4G to 16G one!
May i be back to 4G?
Mini Pro can´t support 16G CARD???
Yesterday i did:
1 - factory reset > wipe cache > wipe dalvik cache
2 - using CWM installed MiniCM7Pro v21
3 - though was strange as paul say in his page:
- Root (OK)
- CWM 4 (x)
- For CWM 3 Read Here (OK)
- Only 2.1.1.A.0.6 SE firmware (OK!)
- Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 (OK!)
I followed all the instructions for user with CWM 3, so after the first ROM installation the CWm should be modified to 4, but it didn´t happened. May it has caused all the problems?????? (vídeo, callings didn´t complete, and NO APP could work!!! I installed but just got erros and erros forcing to close the apps)
How can i make sure CWM4 is installed???? Is there no manual installation for this version!?
4 - ok... ignoring the version of CWM V21 was installed and i got this erros:
- video freezes
- camera with artifacts in images causing serious deffects and making it unusable
- no calling completing
- error installing some app from market and when i could install no one of them could open, just got force closing erros making me uninstall the app (neither Titanium backup could work!)
- didn´t test more, cause i was so frustrated i gave up
5 - today i did all again
factory reset > wipe ALL again
used SEUS to reinstall (repair) the SE last ROM
- calling it´s ok
- didn´t test app installing from market yet (i´ll post here as soon as i do it)
- camera can take pictures, but video still freezes near 40 seconds recording
is all this cause of the SDCARD??????
OMG so... i´ll have to be back to my old 4G CARD?
BUAAAAAAAAAA
Hello again azhhael
Woooooow !!
Your report is really perfects
I can understanding the sequence of your events to easily.
But.......................Why can't you solved ?
Maybe SD card caused ?
If you can, try back to 4 gb and install MiniCM7pro again.
Then if without problem and work will be fine, give me a your 16 gb
However, can you see the inside of sdcard via MiniCM7pro ?
Because Video recording (40 second) data saving to where ? To phone memory ?
>> camera can take pictures, but video still freezes near 40 seconds recording
40 second use how many mega byte ?
Maybe sdcard cause call memory cause then meltdown...
I'm sorry today was don't sleep all night, so now I'm stupid already.
I go sleep now
After wake up I thinking again.
By the way if you tried something and got any result, please posting here !!
Hello Echo... hope u have rest time this night.
I'll report again what is happening now.
After all i told before in the last post, i came back to SE ROM and got this:
USING 16G SDCARD
- calling it's ok
- camera take pics but when i try to visualize it in the gallery i just get artifacts
- video freezes and the mobile STOPS! (i could see that files from camera r in SDCARD in the DCIM folder... as i think it should be...)
- app didn[t work sfter install and some others neither got installed
CHANGED TO THE OLD 4G SDCARD
- calling it's ok
- camera take pics
- video it's ok
- app are all ok
so... eliminating all i believe the problem is the card... is it right? Mini pro can't support 16G SDCARD? No way! I bought 4 of these ones!
I believe that if i install v21 now it will work fine, but before i try to install v21 again i[ll one more test, i will format another 16G card, i'll create ext2 and fat32 partitions (as my 4G is) so i'll try to use it instead of the 4G card. If it works fine, may be a card problem to access the data... at least that's what i think so now...
so, after find the answer for this question i'll be back to v21, hope it's fully working... hehehehe no issues...
tomorrow i'll test it all and so i'll post here, maybe as u tell me i can help another one with my problems described here
Hey. Don't go sleep yet. I have the same problems as you, but with diferrent card sizes. My 2 Gb Sd Card that came with the phone was too small for me, and I bought a 4 Gb (I don't need that much, but 2 Gb + helped).
I was using the Sd Card ultil I had the bad idea to fix my Mp3 tags (album art, in fact). When I have done that, I put my musics in my SD and music started to have some bugs (I can't describle it).
I could live with that. But all my photos started to corrupt and photos taken started to get cut (50 to 90 per cent was a grey, and the rest blur).
Came back to My 2 Gb Card, everything worked fine.
About 4 weeks later I, don't know why, had the idea to test again my 4 Gb Card. It worked fine. But I had forgot why the Card was corrupted, and had the brilliant idea to fix Mp3 Tags again. -.- My mistake. Card got corrupted again. Now I have all the problems I listed above, and .apk files have Problems Parsing the Package.
And I can't go back to 2 Gb card because I have lots os apps on SD and about 20 more musics.
(OMG, never wrote a text like this in this forum).

All my problems was with stock ROM. The problem with the music was that, let's say, music 1 is playing, and sudenly, some random point of music 2 starts playing for, like 2 to 3 seconds, and goes back to normal. It did happen 2 to 10 times, depending on the file.
Now, with Mini CM7 Pro the problem is lightly different. it don't play stretchs of the music, it just jumps to another music.
The problems with another types of files are the same.
When I got this problem, I was trying to install Gin.Tonic ROM, and the recovery was saying there was a problem with the package. I tought it was a recovery problem, used SEUS to reinstall Android. Root, xRecovery, CWM Recovery, the problem persisted. After 2 to 3 months later (about 3 weeks ago, I realized the problem was with the SD Card.
Now everything I install, apps, morphs, and Backups I use my 2 GB SD card.
And you are from Japan, that nice. I want to go there one day, but I have ZERO knowlege on Japanese. Want to go just because I played The World Ends with You, in my Nintendo DS, and loved the Shibuya district of Toquio.

Thx Felimenta97 !! I'm happy to talk with you.
Btw, my friend living in São Paulo city and she is 3rd generation of Japanese. She is soooooo cute
I live in Ribeirão Preto, about 300 Km from São Paulo. I will go for Japan but in a long future (I am only 14 years old and my parent's money, compared to some of my classmates, and American and japaneses in general, is lower. My wishes are to go to Orlando (Universal Studios), then New York and then Shibuya. I am freaking out to see Hachiko (I wrote it right?)!!!
Yeah, it's nice to talk to you too. Have Facebook? Search for ''[email protected]''.
Back to the topic, I tested the version based on Mini CM7 Pro, the latest is based on Flame.E. I am already placed in this ROM, besides some bugs. I think it's because it's the semi official CM7, and accept a lot more tweaks and morphs and etc.

If you not rooted your phone now, just report it to SE. If you rooted and unlocked bootloader, reflash using SEUS back to 2.1 and lock bootloader
We already solved the problem. It was with the SD Card..

[Q] Questions about roms/ and some issues

Hello, I'm a new member here. Been reading for the past few days on this forum and I have a few questions.
First of all I have my phone for a month now and I got fed up with the little internal space, so about 4 days ago I decided to Root my phone with the "upd_1.zip" file. After that I flashed the CWM4 on it and whiped my battery data.
I meanwhile bought titanium backup also and moved few not so essential apps to the sd card via titanium backup (im not sure if this creates the needed partition on the SD card or not though? do i need to do it proprerly or is it good as is?)
To get to the point:
My main problem is that the phone since it got rooted started to "forget" it's settings... mainly what bugs me is the Contacts get unlinked every time i reboot the phone, accounts get unlinked, my adw launcher forgets it's theme (this also happens without reboot), my yahoo email doesn't notify me properly, and apps in general don't seem to work properly anymore... (i also thought it might be from the app move to sd card, but i left the launcher for example on the phone, also haven't touched the contacts app...so i don't know)
How can I fix this? Will a new ROM help me fix these problems?
If yes, can you recommend me any good roms? I was looking a lot at cyanogen mod and ice cream sunday, but i cannot decide which one to get because i'm not sure which one is the most stable one of them?
What matters most for me in a rom is probably to be stable without too many bugs, to run flash if possible and to be more responsive than my current stock 2.3.3 rom. I don't really use the stock apps/gps stuff either, except maybe the youtube app, camera and the market app
My other request is please someone write down how to install a damn rom for noobs without any abreviations because the developers' install description is really vague and abstract in many cases (for the Cyanogen mod or ICSunday please)
My phone runs:
S5840XWKP6
kernel
2.6.35.7-perf-CL313173
[email protected]#1
GB.XWKPJ
Thanks, Joker
Hello Mate
Whatever custom ROM you flash to will have a bug or two but they aren't anything serious thats just the thing with custom Rom's.
Installing Rom's is very easy as long as your phone is rooted (as you have already done) and you have CWM (clockwork mod recovery tool 5.xx not 4.xx) as you have said. There is a problem with CWM 4.xx with the Galaxy Ace it tends not to work properly.
All Rom's are downloaded from links on this website, copied to your SD card as a zip file (which it's downloaded as) then applied by using the CWM tool which appears in your apps after you have installed it.
There are lots of step by step instructions of how to do this just google "how to root galaxy ace" or "how to install CWM 5" or "how to install custom ROM" do you get my drift?
I'm using custom Ice cream sunday CM7.2 from the development section of this forum. It's fast got only what you need in a Rom and has hardly any bugs.
Do some reading my friend i've flashed my phone about 50 in the 2 months i've had it just testing ROM's but i like the one i have now.
Cool, thanks for the reply mate, do u have any idea about the problem i'm having lately by losing my settings?
I was asking for the how to flash guide because of statements like these:
"then install zip
after install, go through set up then set oc if you use and any other settings then reboot."
which makes no sense to me, go through what set up and what's an OC... and what other settings?.... get my drift?
And i'm currently downloading "theMyth" rom to test out... hope it turns out, it'll be my first custom rom
If your using clock work mod 4, it's not saving anything because it doesn't work with the galaxy ace i only found out after it messed up my phone and of course the back up of my settings didn't work!
OC means over clocked cpu application, yes you can over clock the cpu just the same as a pc or laptop make it run faster etc but it's not advised unless you know what your doing or you could fry it.
You definately need CWM 5 installed before you go flashing any new roms. Also have a good read of the reviews for a ROM before you try it etc that gives you all the info you need to know if you will get on with it or not.
uhm yeah... just flashed themyth on my phone and redownloaded titanium backup and it doesn't show up on my apps list, wtf
Make sure your installing apps to your phone and not your SD card??
Also check CWM has changed to version 5xx etc.
still if i would be installing to my sd card shouldn't it show up on my app draws or whatever it's called? on market i don't have "open" option only "uninstall"
Ahh yes i had this problem. Some custom roms need google apps (gapps) installed for your phone to receive stuff from the market.
Do you see the Andriod Market App? Can you sign in?
this is what i was telling you earlier depending on whos Rom you are installing depends what things they've taken out or left in. If it's taken out you have to download some or the apps again to get other things to work.
yup... i redownloaded it from the market, but "open" wouldn't show up, luckily i had the app on my dropbox too and i managed to start the restore apps on it now, im curious what happens when restore will finish
it worked afterall, im happy atm
cool mate you will learn alot by trying different roms but the basic process for flashing is always the same.
Hi guys!
I've been reading your comments on this thread and now i have a lot of questions!:
1) I have installed 4.0.0.9 but according to cooltt it's better CWM 5.x.x, how i can install it now?
2) I thought like jokerman170 to install TheMythICS but now i seeing that he has had problems, how you solved it? Which version you downloaded?
thanks in advanced!!
u can flash it just like the 4, i don't really like this rom, looks like a stupid theme and i got 256 rating on quadrant :| wtf
i downlaoded the TheMyth beta 2 full
icsunday2 here i come
icsunday2 it's difficult to install for a newbie like me and some people have had problems with this rom.
Why TheMyth is bad?
sorry for my english
it wasn't too fast and was kinda buggy and low quality imo, ICSunday is cool, but can't really log onto my wi-fi yet, working on it now
EDIT: worked with second try, really impressed with ICS2 atm
Okay mate
Ok guys thing is installing icsunday is not tough but u didn't understand what to do.mmmmm use cwm 5 for icsunday and icsunday2 is best rom ever.
sent from my phone
plzzzz hit thanks if I helped you in any means .......
i did use the 5, cause the Myth rom upgrades it for you
Btw could you check out my other thread that i just started.... im kind of a retard...

[Q] Is it worth it to root?

I'm still waiting for my SI number to come up, and I'm starting to get a little impatient. I'm considering going ahead and using flashtool, but if I go to that much trouble, why not just go ahead and root?
Here is the reason for my question: I rooted my x10mp to upgrade to 2.2 since there weren't going to be any more official updates. That gave me some capabilities (like apps2sd) that weren't available on 2.1.
So, what can I gain by rooting my 2011 xmp?

are your phone x10 mini pro or xperia mini pro?
xmp is the one that getting ics not x10mp :silly:
btw to answer your root question. nothing really.
i only root just to use v6supercharger, market enabler to install some apps that cant be installed "this item cannot be installed in your country" (because i live outside US), titanium backup, and link2sd for moving apps/data/cache to sd. thats about it.
My old phone is the x10 minipro. My current phone is the 2011 minipro. Edited my first post for clarity, thanks.
dave
probably not
of course, this depends what you want to do with your phone... imho, if you have not decided to root your device for other reasons then it is not worth to root it for getting ICS: If you use stock ROM + a small amount of other apps and feel happy about it you probably don"t need root. ICS would give you a little icing on that gingerbread
IMO, definitely YES!
Definitely, it's worth!
Just root, no other mods, to just install some useful apps and achieve control over which you bought: your connections (droidwall...), your CPU and battery (cputuner...), backup (titanium...), adblocking (adaway...), autostart (autorun manager...), or just VIEW how is your system made (root explorer...).
I played with all of that stuff on my x10mp, but I don't really play with this phone as much. I forgot about adblock, though. That's a good enough reason to root for me. Thanks!
dave
Well
Well
You will be able to do a lot of things
u can remove unwanted system apps (i use AntTek app manager)
u can modify system files
u can use apps that needs root (like root browser ,market enablers ,etc)
if you find yourself in need to do any of the above
then root
otherwise don't
it doesn't make a lot of difference
specially if you are on ICS
Got my XMP rooted and flashed to ICS. Took me a couple of hours to do it, but part of that time was spent figuring out my antivirus software on the computer. Ran a repair with PCC and lost root, so I had to do it over again, which took me about 45 minutes. Thought I'd try to run a repair on SUS, but I was afraid I'd wipe out root again, so I skipped that step.
Got some root-only apps, reinstalled most of my old apps, did some housecleaning. Everything looks good and it seems to run just fine. Now I just need to do the same for my girlfriend's XMP.
Just a couple of things: I lost my calendar info with the upgrade, though I tried to back up everything. Also, I'm wondering about skipping the repair with SUS or PCC.
dave
If you like to tinker with stuff then go for it.
