Remote control apps - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi All,
i am trying to find an app that will allow me to remote my PC from my Prime but that will also work with the docking keyboard mouse pad.
what happens till now in apps like logmein and team viewer is that i see my PC courser and my asus courser as well which means i have to touch the screen in order to move my PC courser around
is there any app you know that can work with the asus pad mouse?

Have you tried Unified Remote? You'll need the PC version also.<--- This one is for Media Center PC's and has several kinds of remotes for that, please see my edit below.

EDIT: I competely overlooked what you were trying to do LOL... Was late when I saw your post. X2 like posted below works pretty good, and a buddy of mine uses Remote Desktop Client and says it works very well for him. He has bought the pay version which costs $25 but there is a trial version to try out. He said X2 worked OK but RDC works better for him. There are several out there, you just have to play with them to see which one works best for you. Here is a link to Remote Desktop Client...
Free Trial: https://market.android.com/details?...HJhbG9naWMuYW5kcm9pZC5yZHBjbGllbnQudHJpYWwiXQ..
Pay version: https://market.android.com/details?...mNvbS54dHJhbG9naWMuYW5kcm9pZC5yZHBjbGllbnQiXQ..

X2 does what you want through the standard winsows remote desktop

Erhh, have you tried the application that comes with the Prime in MyCloud?
It's a version of Splashtop, though I must admit I use the newly released Splashtop THD now.
Regards,
Dave

Don't think I have used LogMeIn Ignition with the dock, but believe that left trackpad button along with trackpad is same as touching screen.
Use that to move cursor.

[Q] Remote Desktop, MHL HDMI and Bluetooth keyboard

Hi All,
My dream, one that I hope Android can help me fulfill is to hook my Galaxy S2 to a HDMI tv, fire up remote desktop and by using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, effectively have a full desktop available.
I am yet to try hooking up my phone to a tv as I am waiting for the MHL cable, but issues I envisage are the following:
1) When the screen is mirrored on the TV, the RDP program will not use the TVs display show 'full screen'. I have installed some RDP applications and they allow you to select the resolution so perhaps this will resolve the issue
2) Are there any RDP applications that allow bluetooth keyboard and mouse entry?
This is the hold grail for me!! Many a time I have stayed in a hotel for work or holiday and not had my laptop with me and wished for such a solution. Combine this with Wake On Lan and it's perfect!
I hope someone can help!
I can't believe i'm the only one that wants something like this to work!
RDP programs should just take any inputs from your phone and pass them onto the remote machine so BT kb/m should work ok IMO. Not sure about the mirroring but if it is fullscreen on the phone then maybe the MHL cable will upscale for the TV.

I'm waiting for the cable before I can try. In fact I would have had it by now but my girlfriend wants to buy some stuff for me for my bday and I believe she's already ordered it!
I should get mine tomorrow and I'll try it out.
Thanks! I'll check back on thread!
I've been doing some reading around and have found that BT keyboards and a mouse will work no problem.
I tried my MHL cable with the Android VNC viewer app and allows you to fit to screen but does not output at the tv's native res.
I have had similar experience with Remote RDP, it just mirrors the phone's native resolution. Hopefully this kind of thing will be supported soon, including internet browsing at 1080p.
Thanks guys, that sux!
I still haven't received my cable so I can't try for myself, but have you managed to make it work to a workable output on the TV?
would be interesting if we could port some parts from the atrix (webtop) over to this phone. I actually enjoyed that feature.

Perhaps, this kind of program may help to format the resolution?
Am I missing something? If you got a bt keyboard and bt mouse and the phone to tv hdmi, don't you have it all? Why would you need a remote desktop or vnc software?
Well, you'd have it all except for USB, which you might be able to live without.

If it could pump out the full Remote Desktop resolution then you will effectively have a full desktop through your phone rather than just have the phone's software capability.
Fair enough you can surf the web and play a video but what if I want to use full excel or Word, and multi-task like on a desktop.
I've still not received my cable so I don't know whether the browsing the net with the phone's browser is legible on a big screen.
In my earlier post I complete missed off the applications name - LCD Density - haven't tried and I don't know if it's compatible with the SGSII, but sounds like it changes the native resolution of the phone.
Try Splashtop as your vnc app it is the only one to my knowledge that can stream audio almost perfect and video pretty good over vnc and works like a charm on the atrix.
Did you find a good BT keyboard that works well with the Evo? I'd prefer one with a built in trackpad, as my goal is to use this on the road (ie, airports, trains, etc), and would like to have an all-in-one keyboard/mouse.
The one thing that I haven't had time to tinker with have been HDMI goggles that can give a virtual display. Has anyone tried these w/ the Evo's mini-HDMI output?

Remote Desktop Question

Splashtop Streamer works really great for just remoting in and doing things. However, I wanted to see if anybody uses a different remote app. for playing games on their desktop/laptops?
I wanted to try Minecraft and it works really well, the arrow keys work but when I try to use the mouse, the pointer uses the pointer on the tablet and not in Windows. Splashtop doesn't really have a lot of features, anybody have any experience with a different app. that allows the pointer to be used better in windows?
Id be interested to hear from what other people are running as well. I'll be using my prime to connect to my work pc so I can do estimates on the go.

Because that has about 5% of the features of the actual Minecraft game. Also, my cousins run a server and you can't connect to those in that app.

Pocketcloud works when splashtop won't. My PC won't wake up after about 30 minutes of inactivity when using splashtop but pocketcloud still works.

Thanks for sharing but I just tried PocketCloud and it was a laggy mess compared to Splashtop.
I use teamviewer more often than anything else. I haven't tried gaming with it, but just thought I'd through that out there as an option.

Appreciate it. I'll try it out and post if it can work with games or at least Minecraft.

Well for gaming, there's the OnLive option. Bad thing is it'll cost some money. I really haven't seen anything else satisfactory to stream games.
are there any RDC apps that don't require you to install a host on the other PC? just being on the same network?

Well all windows PC, windows xp and beyond have rdp all you have to do is enable it and then you can connect to it with any rdp client.
Teamviewer is what I use, works great on every platform I have tried.
I use log me in ignition and i love it.

The Xtralogic remote desktop app is a real RDC which doesn't require anything to be installed on the host system. It actually interfaces with Windows software beyond just showing you a clickable image like a lot of VNC apps.
My question is has anyone installed Xtralogic RDC on their prime, and does it work well?

I used Xtralogic Remote Desktop Client. It's in Market for $25, but there's a trial available. I use it on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, my Galaxy Nexus, and have used it in the past on the TF101 and Galaxy S.
It works with the built-in RDP server on Windows 7, Vista, XP. I used it every day to manage a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. It also supports Terminal Services (RD Gateway) and Windows 8 (tested it with a Windows 8 VM).
It's not the best for streaming video from another computer, but in terms of true RDP compatibility, I have yet to see anything that beats it. $25 buys you a lot of updates, support, and flawless functionality.
@thegadfly you must have responded right after I clicked reply I'll be getting the Prime tomorrow so I'll post back here when I test it.
I used Splashtop on my TF1 - only one I found that properly used the keyboard and touchpad in the dock. Will be sticking with it for the TF2. Tried the phone version update on my Note this morning (now supported 720p resolution) and it's awesome - faster than before and new touchpad input is great.
Probably a silly question but is there any program that allows you to physically turn on your PC remotely

[Q] How can we solve the remote desktop right click problem?

So I got my dock today and I've begun sampling remote desktop solutions including several RDP clients, VNC clients and Splashtop HD.
So far Splashtop seems to be the clear winner in terms of video performance, which is important to me as I'd like to at least be able to do simple things in games with high video demands (check the auction house in MMOs for example). The problem is that when I plug in a USB mouse or use the touchpad with Splashtop HD, there is no right click support- right click seems to be bound at some level to back in Android. I have not pulled the trigger yet on Remote RDP (paid) because I already own splashtop, so any comparison between the video on the two would be great, also.
So, questions:
How might it be possible to change the way android sees a right click from the mouse? If it were possible to make android see a right click as a random rarely used character like ` (tilde), there are ways to tell your desktop to interpret such a key as a right click (mousefighter comes to mind).
If the above proves impossible or unwieldy, is anything comparable in terms of video to splashtop?
I agree splashtop is pretty incredible from a video standpoint. You might try gotomypc? I believe they have an android app.
I didn't know about this right click issue, I've been using splashtop but I don't have my dock yet.
I'm sure there is a workaround...
TF201 | XDA Premium
i use pocketcloud. The free version only allows one config but i just reconfig when i need to. It has a nice mechism for different mouse and keyboard functions but i have not tried an actual mouse with it. Not sure how good video and stuff is since i just use it to admin servers. It does pass windows sounds though.
Plz post in the Q & A forum..
Pocketcloud Free does support right click from an external mouse Sadly, de paid pro doesn't I hope they will upgrade soon.
I don't know if this would theoretically help, but in ICS there's a setting to change the touchpad right-click to long press rather than back. Doesn't seem to work for me though...

Long press left mouse button=right click in Splashtop. While that's not perfect it doesn't seem to be a particular problem, or at least in my use it doesn't.
I use this, and right-click seems to work just fine. Free and real RDP (not another program that needs to be installed on the desktop) makes it perfect for me.

Don't know how well video works, though. I've never expected video to work over RDP.

Under MyCloud>MyDesktop should be the slashtop app. So far it has worked pretty well on both my mac and PC.
I use Remote RDP by Yantao. There is a free version, which I used and it was great. I can't remember which version it was, but I think I shelled out for the enterprise version (~$20), mostly to show support. The ~$10 version and up have the best features (obviously). My favorite is the ability to attach the storage on my phone as storage devices on that computer through RDP, without any additional software or protocol. Great for when I need stuff from my document library at home.

I use pocketcloud like everyday. Never had any problems with it.
+1 more for splashtop. Its fast enough to play games.
Another great free app for accessing your network is SHARESFINDER.
https://market.android.com/details?...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zY2FuLnBsYWNlcyJd
"SharesFinder is intended for scanning wireless local networks for shared resources (SMB, FTP, HTTP). You can explore SMB resources directly by SharesFinder, HTTP resources with Android browser and FTP resources with another tool supporting this protocol (FtpCafe recommended).
SharesFinder is a simple analog of Windows "My network places". Also, it can be used as SMB client."
This one works great on a tablet and supports RDP (Windows Remote Desktop) and VNC and is really cheap compared to other Remote Desktop apps (0,99€). You dont need an extra program on your PC, which is always nice!
