Case Mate finally shipped - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

My case mate case for the galaxy note finally shipped and I have to say the case feels amazing in my hands, it also keeps the thin feeling of the phone. It feels extremely durable as well. One thing though the case was so god damn hard to put on i was afraid I'd break the volume rocker. Otherwise I extremely recommend this case and ill post pictures soon enough!!

I had one of these for my Inspire. I liked the feeling of the plastic as it gave some good grip but I hated the rubber portion. It collected everything including lint and it was way to tacky.

Which Case Mate is that? How does it go? Is the first layer silicone and the outer lay plastic?
Right now I have the Reiko Hybrid case -- very durable, but very heavy and thick. I'm debating getting the Case Mate, Ballistic, or Trident.

Its the case mate tough. I owned the reiko hybrid case and i ended up hating it due to the fact that it blocked the Ports from easy access

How's the weight/thickness compared to the Reiko Hybrid? Considering it was only $9.00, I got it as more of an in-between "holder" to wait off for the better companies.

I just ordered one of these coming in a couple days
Hit thanks if you like it.

Its extreemly light as if almost the case isn't there but enough to tell there's weight added. $40 is pricey but considering the quality, look and overall feel id probably choose between this and seido! The seido case looks nice i hope somebody posts a review soon

I was hoping this would be the last case I bought for my gNote. I found the Case-Mate Tough on sale on Amazon for $17.99 (free shipping) way better than the $40 retail!
My gNote is not insured so I wanted a case that would provide a good degree of protection without adding too much bulk. I felt this case would meet this need. It has a good grip and solid construction.
My only gripe is the the silicon is not tight on the edge on the top and bottom! Ugg! The hard shell does not hold the inner silicon in place on the top and bottom, the way it does on the sides. When pulling the phone out of my pocket the lose silicone drags/clings. So I think this action may make the silicone baggy/loser over time.

Comments about loose fitting silicone and the pics showing it to be a dust magnet are disappointing. I was really hoping this would do the trick. I have the Reiko Hybrid case. It's protective but it's a monster.
Now that the Candyshell case AT&T wanted $40 for is in the low $20's, I may be revisiting that. I still don't like the glossy back's scratch magnet aspects but its slim and the silicone (TPU?) layer holds tight to the surface of the phone.

I fixed the loose silicone on top and bottom with some double sided sticky tape. Works like a charm!
Now that I have had a chance to use it for a week or so, I have to agree with the OP. It feels very good in the hand and totally secure.

+1 - CaseMate POP case and a Moshi iVisor (They better be careful. I think Apple owns a copyright on any word starting with a lower-case "i", and they seem to be a little sue-happy recently). Same setup I had on my Samsung Infuse. The only thing I didn't like about that case was the lack of a kickstand, and this one's got it. Perfect!
The only thing I don't like about the pop case is it seems to only come in white/grey, otherwise love the case.
Asking what case to get is like asking what kind of car you should get. It's very much personal taste, hehe.
With that said, I was in Asia last week and came back with about 20 different designs. The one I favor is a 0.2mm case (just ebay it there are tons)... they're only a couple bucks, and they provide scratch\scuff protection, and are the ultimate in thinness. They don't provide very good grip though.
The Ringke silicon case is alright, I have one in red which looks nice, but it's not ideal for me because with any silicon case I find the sides are not as tight fitting to the phone as I like (problem with ANY silicon case, most people are fine with it but I'm a bit OCD).
There is a TPU case I bought on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OTAUG6
And thus far this TPU case has been my absolute favorite of all the 10 or so cases I have. It's got the right amount of grip, but isn't sticky removing from pocket like a silicon is, and it's absolutely tight-fitting and has the ATT mic cutouts, and the color is cool. Not super crazy about the argyle back, but the color is nice, so it works.
But again, personal taste is a lot of it. If you order from somewhere like Amazon if you don't like the case you can return it without hassle.
#10 on this list
http://www.traemcneely.com/2011/10/...i777-samsung-galaxy-s2-sii-cases-covers-sgs2/
I just received my Acase from Amazon today. I have to say it's pretty nice. It's a silicon case, but with a hard case on top of it. It adds a bit of bulk, but it is definitely fully protected. It's as thick as my current gen iPod classic now. Not too great, but not too bad for $10.

Just got my case-mate tough case today. Seems sturdy but not liking the silicone layer that attracts dust and lint. Oh well, can't have it all.....
Question: Will a TPU case, diztronic or any other be shock absorbent from a good fall? Just wondering if that might be the way to go.

What features do u want the case to have? Style, belt clip, protection, material..etc... My next case will need to have a kickstand but still provide the same protection.
It sucks being needy...lol

NOTE
if you get any case with black silicone (trident, case-mate, otterbox, incipio, etc), the lint will be obviously visible. you can remedy that by getting a colored one

Good advice, and I'll remember that next time. I actually returned the Case-mate today because of that black silicone layer collecting dust...I'm a little OCD when it comes to dust on my phone. Definitely an awesome case. Am using the Matte Black version.
Cost is real good, and doesn't make the phone look bulky at all, easily slips in and out of the pocket
You may initially feel that since there is no volume rocker cut-out it would be difficult to use (some video reviews also show that), but trust me it does not feel uncomfortable at all. On the contrary, the divided volume rocker on the case actually has a nice feel to it.
Checkout this portion of a video, should give you a fair idea

Yeah I was looking for a TPU case, I liked my red sensation case much that I didn't want any kid of material, I bought the matte black as well, I was considering the smoke glass matte translucent case but I didn't know if I was going to like the color scheme over the white amaze, anyway, I watched the video and too bad they didn't have any colors, oh well the case looks great though can't wait to get it in the mail, anyone have the smoked glass one over a white amaze? Let me know what you think
I have a case from body glove that I absolutely love. It has a built in kickstand too which is a plus for watching media, got it pretty cheap from the tmobile store.

Just ordered the case-mate tough case.
$28 after 20% off with '4MOM' code.
I had a hard time deciding between this one and the trident aegis case, but decided the extra $8 is worth the peace of mind of knowing the three pin holes around the camera aren't blocked and I think this case looks a bit slimmer. There isn't much information out there for the Amaze version, but the Sensation tough case is well reviewed. So I am hoping the Amaze one will be the same.
Will post some pictures when the case gets here.

I ordered a different case from Zenus and another wallet case but in black with the stand on the back. It's the same price as the brown nubuck leather case. And one of their graffiti silicon case. I'll be switching between whichever I feel like using.
I'm planning on going completely naked. No cover, no case except maybe a belt case. Not sure I'll want to keep this in my pocket.
The $7 TPU cases are quite thin, at least until you find something you like. You can also order a Neoprene sleeve or the OEM sleeve to keep it in while in your pocket. I ordered them and the Neoprene one was $4 and the OEM 25
I tried one of the "ultra thin tpu cases" for sale on ebay and so far, I'm loving it. The case really is ultra thin, and mine is clear frosted so it also adds a bit of grip.
Note, it offers zero face protection, and only covers up to the chrome bezel on the sides.
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-Thin-...ng-Galaxy-Note-5-3-i9220-0179TT-/250996534376
Fits really well for being thin and flexible, and the slimmest case I've seen so far.

I bought two cases.
http://www.amazon.com/EMPIRE-Samsun...S0WO/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1329718439&sr=8-9
The empire case, i use when I'm at home. It's almost like not having a case at all. Protection for the left and right sides and the back are there. Top and Bottom are open as well as the front of the screen.
When I go out of the house, I transfer to the Zenus Wallet Case:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/samsung-gal...784392?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4600c77d08
It's great for going out...protects the phone reasonably well and I don't have to carry a separate wallet. Oh it the case itself looks AWESOME!

Thin case

Hi there,
Im looking for thin case.
Best I have found is this case on ebay
Design is not bad, but its not covering glass area around the camera.
Questions:
1. Is there any thin case(plastic, rubber) that covers that?
2. Anyone tried skins? Will they remove easily(considering phone is jeans pocket)?
3. Those who are using various rubber, gel, hybrid and so on cases, how much fatter is your phone with them? If its not that much fatter suggestions on good cases then

I have tried them all, best case is either the capdase brand or official HTC TPU case. They both let your phone slide into your pocket easy, don't bulk out your phone, look great and offer good protection.

Look up the Kraken AMS. That is a reasonable case.
Alternatively just look for something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-HAR...sesPouches&hash=item3a6a2fac16#ht_1887wt_1396
Best thing about this type of case is it doesn't add too much bulk, and is easy to get in and out of your pocket (unlike a silicone/rubber case). And it will actually protect your phone in a drop unlike that case you linked to in your original post. As for your screen... only BIG cases include a plastic layer to completely cover the glass.
Are you just looking for something with raised edges, and then use a screen protector perhaps? (Like the ebay one I showed you).
http://www.amazon.com/Acase-Superle...1HVI/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1333169597&sr=8-9
this has been the best case for me so far, its very thin, and has a rubber skin with a hard plastic shell..the kraken, and defender are way to big for me. this case is just the right size its about the same size as a tpu case.

My case looks exactly the same and it was £3 from amazon.
IMO the thinnest cases are the back cases ones that doesnt really cover the top and bottom bezel...just the sides and back. BUT if you really want to protect your phone and not get it scratched up over time, you are better off using a TPU type case as the are not too thick and are of softer material and will not rub off any of the black anodized paint. Unlike any hard cases, whether its back only or 2 pieces. Also TPU cases are more absorbent during accidental drop on hard surfaces.
I was running seidio 2pc case hard case w/kick stand with my first 3d and although it had felt inside it eventually rubbed off the pain on the top corners of my phone. The felt inside was very thin and the case is not skin tight so it would move some and the slight movement of the case over time eventually sandpapered some of the paint off. TPU or rubber type cases are more skin tight and is not as abrasive as plastic on painted metal and will not damage the paint so long as you also clean it off from time to time. Some dirt can eventually get in between and the dirt will act as sandpaper. So just consider this when you're buying a case as some of you would probably like to sell your phone later down the road or just want to keep it looking new for a long time.

Just got the same one for $16. So far pretty happy with it. Not a huge fan of the gloss finish or the rounded edges, but a squared off look would probably be too bulky. Big fan of the casemate I had on the s2. Maybe they'll come out with something soon. I'd prefer white as well.

People bought the Speck cases from AT&T because its the only case they had out at that time. The case is trash. Rips easily. But I heard that if you got it at a corporate at&t store...they will replace it if it has rips or certain damages. Thats what the sales rep told me the first day it was launched. Anyways I ended up not getting it due to it being really glossy.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
already had mine replaced once. 2 weeks later and I have another rip. Wonder if I can get my money back.
I wasn't a fan of the case either. I get a discount on the accessories so it didn't hit my wallet as bad as most but to me, it offers better protection than the active seidio case I bought. I need to have a holster for my phone so being the speck fit in the active holster I'm using that. I was looking at some of the TPU cases but I'm hoping for the surface case to be made for the Note. My Zagg protector hasn't had an issue but I don't ever take the case off.

To clarify: your Speck candy shell will fit comfortably into the Seidio holster?? You may have solved my problem....!!!!
Yes, the Speck case fits the active holster PERFECTLY. I had an issue with the soft rubber on Seidio Active case peeling back when I snapped it into the holster so I put the Speck back on and it fits just as good if not better then the Seidio case.
Didn't have any problems with the speck. No tearing or anything other than normal wear. Protects better than the stupid trident case I bought. The trident corners want to slip off, and I barely trust it. It's survived drops though.
Any case is better than none.

The Speck case scratches extremely easily, but I haven't noticed any problem with durability, and I think it gives great protection. It's definitely not worth the full list price, though.

Many thanks for your response; the white does not appear to be available yet; will order when it is.
