[Q] Calls going straight to Voicemail - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i updated my phone to CheckRom and kernel to NEAK and then Syhia.
For some reason, some of my calls keep going straight to voice mail since then. I thought maybe it was an issue with some app, so i did a wipe install of Checkrom and installed the NEAK kernal. But still same issue.
I then changed the kernal to Syhia and still some calls go straight to voicemail.
Anyone have any clue why? Any suggestions? Would greatly appreciate the help.

I had a similar problem. go to menu, settings, call, and turn off call rejection.
Hopefully its a similar issue u are having.

Whatever the issue is it's not kernel or rom related. It's purely a network setting issue. And these vary from carrier to carrier. Call your carrier.

Thanks for the reply guys. Sorry took me this long to post back.
Well i wanted to stay on the custom rom, so i did try installing it again, and i thought that since it is a full wipe, it will fix the issues. I also did a wipe cache/dalvik chache manually.
Any hows getting no where, i resotred using my original backup and everything seems to be fine. No one has complained about it, so i am guessing its all well now.
I had restored it before mrwarlock43's suggestions, but i do remember making sure that the blacklist was empty. So i never turned call rejection off.
All running now i guess. Just going to wait until ICS or the next rom before i reflash again.
Cheers and thanks for the help guys.

[REQ for assistance] Missing a lot of incoming calls...

Hello! I have been kind of tracking an issue, and it seems that there is just no rhyme or reason to it.
I seem to miss somewhere between 25-50% of my incoming calls. I'll be in full 3G service in a lot of these instances, GVoice alerts me to a new VM which is my clue.
I tend to listen to the VM then return the call and always ask if they just called, and it is always within just a few short minutes. So the VM is getting to me, but not the call.
I thought that maybe my ringer was getting turned down - not the case.
I thought that maybe things were going awry, but every time I test, the phone rings as expected...
I am running KangBang(CommRom)1.3 with the OTB Kernel (v1.3 as well) and my radio is ED01.
Unfortunately I cannot say when the issue started - it may have been there from the get-go, but unknown to me. I can, however hypothesize that I have seen this issue over more than one radio (and therefor ROM and kernel) version...
I am at a loss and rather unsure how to proceed on troubleshooting the problem.
I did call Verizon Tech Support today to try to make some progress, but they simply had me do a *228 2 to reset roaming and test. Of course the test call came through (like when you have a rattle that won't reproduce at the mechanic's shop).
The tech who helped me was really kind and actually SMS'ed his info to me in case I need it, so I have an avenue, but I think it best to return the call with things to try. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in coming up with things to try.
TIA.
had an issue where i missed 2 or 3 calls when i first switched over to new radio and ROM, I re-wiped and reflashed everything again, radio, ROM, and kernel and haven't had any missed calls since,
give that a try, just back up everything with TiBu
I will give that a try.
I did a full wipe this weekend when I was trying the 1.4 kernel, but I then restored a CWM backup, so I'll give that a go.
Many thanks.
I have the same issue everytime I do a fresh install of Google Voice after a long period of not using it. Check your GV settings, try toggling 'do not disturb.' I can't really pinpoint what fixed it, but all is well now.

This sounds like an issue with Google Voice and not your phone or rom. I'd uninstall and redo as well as double check all settings, do *228 (both options), reboot, etc.
Samsung/USCC have acknowledged a missed calls issue on the Mesmerize that they are working on releasing a fix for. No idea if it's possible that the Fascinate has the same issue but I wouldn't be surprised.
Thanks for this! I did re-wipe all data and caches to no avail. Had not even considered GV as a culprit... Many thanks!

[Q] Are you intermittently missing calls without notification and sms don't arrive?

Anyone else have this problem? I don't get calls from certain people. Sometimes I don't get sms that they send. My gf can't get a hold of me by calling and sometimes our sms don't arrive at the other end. We're both on verizon, she has a feature phone. I'm using a gingerbread rom now, but this problem happened with someone else on a different rom I was using months ago. That time too the other person was on verizon with a feature phone. I'm going to wipe and install Ivan's eris official to troubleshoot, the next step is to try and get verizon involved.
Sounds like the issues I had when my apn was "lost". Search for the "apn fix", it's in a ton of threads since most cm roms have had the issue.
Wrong forum BTW

could be that your phone is stuck in low memory state, try deleting all the apps you don't use, and boot into recovery and wiping dalvic cashe, reboot, might want to look into cashe2cashe

This happened between me and my wife, My daughter had placed me in my wifes blacklist, you might want to check just in case.
thanks for all the replies!
ianoob- i will try this, thanks for the info! i found .mak's apn fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684856
rigbyrobot- hmm... i keep my installs pretty lean, putting as many apps on the sd as possible.
Sparticusx- i considered that, but it does not explain the intermittent missing sms.
update: flashed ivan's eris official, gf's call went right through. next i flashed Ginn Tazz followed by gapps and .mak's apn fix and all seems well. thanks again!

Google Voice not forwarding texts to stock messaging app

Recently Installed CM9 agrabrens 7.1 fantastic btw! I turned do not disturb on last night and after disabling it I no longer recieve texts on my cell phone off data. It seems that Google voice has stopped forwarding my text messages.
I have tried flashing other roms wiping data and deactivating my google voice account and no luck. I am able to send messages via the stock app fine just not receive them.
Any idea what I should do to approach this?
Thanks
I have the same problem. I am glad I am not alone. I am thinking about reverting to complete stock and then seeking technical support. Why do you think it is a Google Voice issue? Did you flash VM Firmware?

I just flashed MeanRom and the issue went away. Unexpectedly reflashed cm9 agrabren again and still no messages....
It just started happening suddenly I know that my configurations are correct.
I may try a superwipe
When I flashed into MeanRom all my messages came flooding in thank god so I didn't lose them up in the cloud but i like cm9 i Don't wanna lose texting...
Did you flash Virgin Mobile Firmware?
My messaging has not been working for a month. During this period I have tried many ROMs. I am not sure if this is ROM related.
Yes but I stripped the boot loader out of it so I am on boot 1.4 and also flashed back to 2.17 but maybe I haven't done anything other than that. But why would it be fine then randomly stop working.
I haven't tried any others from mean ROM which worked and agrabrens. I also have a kernel of he who must not be named installed I tried without it as well and problem remained. Was running great until this morning.

Bump Issue still exists
Finally I was able to get messaging back using stock app. When I disabled Google Voice I started getting error Msg 2134 and solution to it is to unblock text on the phone through Sprint's website. Damn Sprint, even they didn't know about it.
My Sprint > My Preferences > Block Texts > unblock all. And you messaging should start in a few minutes.
If this doesn't work try disabling your Google Voice account and then try it again. You might have to try different browser or wait a little bit.

Call Bug

Hi, my sister's unrooted HTC One on stock 4.4.3 has a phone call issue. She'll call someone but they can't hear her and she can't here them. If this happens, she does a reboot and when she makes a phone call it'll connect. After a certain amount of time the phone call issue will appear again.
Has anyone else experienced this? This also happens on my GF's rooted HTC One running Viper rom.

Have your sister copy all of her personal data and files off of the phone and perform a factory reset through Settings. If that doesn't work, then have her download and the run the T-Mobile RUU assuming she is on T-Mobile. Again make sure all of her personal files and data has been removed from the phone.

Thank you! She is on t-mobile. I will help her with this and report back.
This literally just started happening to me as well. T-Mobile HTC One on ViperROM 7.0.0.
I made a phone call Sunday (12/7) no problem. Now all of a sudden no audio in either direction using the default phone app. But hangouts dialer has no issues.
This just started happening to me as well! When I'm on wifi calling, I'm able to make a phone call without any issues. But 2 times this week when I tried to make a call when I wasn't on wifi, it was a dead call where I couldn't hear the caller and she couldn't hear me.
I have an unrooted t-mobile HTC One.
Any one have any ideas as to what could be the cause of the issue?
EDIT: It appears to be caused by the HTC lock screen on the google play store which was recently updated. Hopefully a fix will be released soon.

Where did you hear about this? I'm having the exact same issue. I'm on Viper 7.0.1. Restarting the phone doesn't work but a flashing the rom fixes it again for a little bit. Trying to find the cause of the issue so I can correct it without having to wipe my device again.
Well I ran the new RUU to return my phone to bone stock. Calls work after this no problem. So i started re-installing all my apps via titanium backup and today I get a phone call, same thing no audio either direction. This is on the stock ROM, i never re-installed Viper.
I'm going to do a TWRP back up and do a factory reset and not install any apps to see if the problem comes back.

Just noticed the edit. Can you let us know the source of this info please?

HTC is taking responsibility for it, but I don't think it's clear if it's HTC or Google's fault. Either way, HTC pushed an ota for an Australian carrier that fixes the issue, and the venom guys released a flashable fix a little earlier today for their ROM. As far as stock tmobile users, I have no idea nor have heard of a permanent or even a solid temporary fix that normal users could do, i.e. my wife.
Google hangouts dialer does work. I used it today to call people back once they called me and we couldn't hear each other There are other calling apps, but this one is nice cuz you don't have to sign up for anything, it's just Google which we all obviously use already.

Just got an update from T-mobile to fix this. OTA

Phantom voicemail notifications

So I recently flashed OctOS on my LG-LS990 and I am having this very annoying thing happening where I keep getting notifications that I have 1 voice mail when there aren't any. I've gone into the phone app and cleared cache, which makes the notification go away but then it comes back within a few minutes. This seems to happen quite frequently when I am at work and the signal is spotty. I've also called myself from a different number, left a vm, and then checked it from my G3 and deleted it and the icon doesn't clear. Also rebooted the phone numerous times, but it still comes back.
I was using youmail after I flashed the ROM, but have deleted it hoping it would resolve this issue. Which it has not.....
I was using Resurrection Remix ROM prior to this and initially had the same issue, but it cleared up when I did what I listed above. Anyone out there have any other ideas for how to fix this problem?
I have had the same issue and have asked but no answers yes. It is not a huge issue but really annoying. I have flashed Resurrection and OctOS and never could get it to stop showing up. I would get the VM notification EVERY time I got off of a phone call.

Go back to stock. Fix it. Then you might need to reflash CM instead of restore.
That's probably your best option
I have gone back to Stock several times using the Flash tool. When I do I have no more Phantom VM's. Root and flash a stockish ROM and still no phantom VM. But Everytime I flash any CM based ROM and get off of a phone call it comes back. after EVERY call. Aggravating more than anything.

Same here. May look at trying a different ROM. Such an annoying issue.....
Maybe try to just hide the notification. That is what I did. This is an old issue with sprint. If you really want to get rid of it, you have to find an old flip phone or something before android. Activate it and then go and clean out old voicemail's. I have been dealing with it since HTC EVO days. I have never gone back and done the real fix. If you really searched google there is info on this annoying issue.
