sorry for my poor english, when u use a2sd every app is installed on ext partiton on sd card, link2sd use ext too but u can make individual choice if u want an particular app to sd or not, advantage with ext is obviously that apps are usable even when fat32 partitition is mounted on pc

[Q] App2sd Mod (dalvik-cache to sd) problem

hello, i got a problem here with my x10 mini with app2sd (Mod), when i changed my memory card to a new one, the phone wont booted! keep lagging on the sony ericsson while logo there, but when i inserted the old memory card, it Booted!
Anybody can help me? thank in advance!
Apps2SD is not quite flexible you know about swapping memory cards, have u read THE thread?
Anyway, there's a new way to move app to SD, use Link2SD, latest version can move dalvik cache per app too.. so it's much more powerful then App2SD.

Just use Market and search Link2SD, it's already available there. When opened, it will list all the application and when you click one of'em, you'll find 'Create Link' button for moving it to SD ext2 partition. the latest one have a checkbox saying 'move this apps DC too?'.
Or go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326 for more info on that.

LG P500 Slow and low memory

I have the froyo final installed. The problem that happens is the delay to restart the applications when I turn on my phone. Usually one minute or more for all icons to open the main menu from LG. Most applications are installed on my card and still am low on memory on the phone, only 30mb. I'm using an application to move the phone card that is pro APPS 2 SD. I have installed the Gemini that also moves the applications. My card is not partitioned. What is the solution to the phone beginning faster and have more free memory the phone? Every application when I install on the phone says low memory. I have micro sd sandisk 16gb class 4.
i also had that problem, now i fresh flashed devoid and use darktremors a2sd script, everything starts up very fast...

What is the difference between them? For example datasd and apps2sd you have to do flash. The link2sd you download the program in the market.
i think widgets cant me moved on sd card via links2sd...while in a2sd you can move everything ....even widgets ...they work as the phone assumes that the partition created is added to the internal memory...

[Q] Link2SD vs. DarkTremor App2SD

Hi all,
I use a V10E stock ROM (2.2.2), rooted. I am running out of space, despite using Move2SD Enabler, and Froyo App2SD. So, I have been reading for a while now about DarkTremor App2SD and Link2SD.
Has anyone used DarkTremor a2sd on a stock ROM before?
How does it perform in comparison to Link2SD?
The problem with Link2SD is that it does not move the application data to the ext partition. I have about 170+ apps installed, so they have tons of app data.
What do you guys recommend?
I have a follow up question
what's the difference between the two?

Neither does dt's a2sd. If you are really running out of space with those, the only option left is ungaze's data2sd which moves entire /data partition. It is quite experimental and the author is MIA at the moment.
Maybe you should just download something like CacheMate first and clean up the cruft? I have 200+ apps and 100+MB left on internal storage.
I don't think use DT A2SD on a stock ROM.
I'm using Link2SD (not stock ROM) and so far it's going pretty well. I have well over 50 apps installed and the internal memory stayed the same, at 153 MB free.
Thank you guys for the prompt reply.

I use cachemate on daily basis. And still the same.
I had a GT540 before and I used something called autorootapp2sd by joe.stone. It gave me the choice of which folders to move to the ext partition (dalvik-cache, apps, apps/data,..etc). But this used to work on 2.1, so it can mess up with 2.2.
DT a2sd doesnt work on stock roms. Link2sd works fine.

Link2SD does do this, but not by default. You can select which apps for Link2SD to affect. The reason why is that some apps and widgets you DONT want moved to the SD or they stop functioning properly.
I'm running Link2SD on stock LGP509T (optimus T) with Froyo 2.2

How to sd partition and swap partition on 4gb sd card
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
first of all i must say i read once its better to have a high class sd card, for example class 6, it doesn't matter the space, its more important the class because higher class higher speed.
i must say i have a 8 gb sd class 6 and i have brilliant performance.
so if you have smaller class u can try but i can't tell u it will work perfect because i don't know.
about the way you can do it look for it in matmutant faq because he posted an easy tutorial explained by a guy called ferotakis i think...
look for it and if u find it let me know. if not i will try to explain here or will look it for you...
U mean the RBAP thread by matmutant...?

yeah! thats it! look there for the way to use app2sd and you will see a short tutorial by ferotakis on how to do the partition. after that look in post 3 of that page also because there is a list of useless apps u can delete to increase your memory and RAM.
Thanx buddx..

aps2sd is not difficult at all. it depends on how many apps u will install in ur phone. if u install a lot u should use aps2sd if not u can use native move to sd. the difference is native always leave a part of the apps in the inside memory and app2sd moves the whole ap. I've used both and considering i usually install a lot of apps I've had much better results with app2sd. now its up to you
but everything is well explained in matmutant faq.

How to use Link2SD?

I know there are a LOT of guides for this and I was looking them but is taking me a hard time to understand what should I really do. I recently installed CyanogenMod 7.2 on my Live with Walkman. I have a 32 GB sd. The thing is I've been always used this app (Link2SD) WITHOUT my SD partitioned. The only thing I do is when an app is installed on phone (internal memory) I just move it with this app and that's it. I don't link it or anything cause I haven't partitioned my SD. But im curious about this, is it really necessary to make a 2nd partition for this? If it is possible, how can I do it? I have already read a LOT of guides but I want an easy way, I read somewhere it is even possible to make the partition via CWM, is that true? Also, I don't have a SD reader or anything, (I have a macbook) but I have Windows 7 installed in a virtual machine (Parallels).
So is there a way to do it that doesn't requiere a memory card reader? Please help

2nd partition is very necessary for Link2SD....bear in mind if you use the native app2SD (moving apps using Link2SD) it only move the apps(apk)...if you have 2nd partition and use Link2SD to link, then you can move not just the apps(apk), you can also move the data, dalvik-cache and the lib that come along with the apps....
i don't know if CWM can make partition but ROM manager can make it for you....

just follow the instructions on ROM manager on how to partition your SD....then ROM manager will reboot into CWM and it will make partition for you....just one draw back using ROM manager if you want to make partition is the biggest partition you can make is 512mb .....
i suggest you use MiniTool Partition Wizard to make 2nd partition....
The best way is using mini tool.
Backup your sdcard content first.
After that, open mini tool, delete your sdcard, create 2 new partitions. Both must be primary, set first with FAT32 or FAT. Then the second is your sdext. Make it to up to 1gb or less. Then create linux swap, 100mb is enough. Then press apply.
Done,

One question. If I do it using ROM manager, would it erase all data on my sd?
Sent from my WT19i using Tapatalk 2
Of course. Your sdcard will be formatted. That's why u should backup first

Ok thanks. It seems I successfully partitioned my SD card without losing ALL my data. The only problem is that the apps that were on SD (mostly games) are gone. But reinstalling them is not a big problem after all.
