[Q] Galaxy S2 version Rev0.1??? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

So I just bought a Galaxy S2 last night from Best Buy. I opened it up to see it that the version of the phone is Rev 0.1? How many revisions of this phone are there? If there are more than one is there one that is preferred?

Just curious where did you find this rev #? if i can find it ill tell ya which one mine is.

If you take off the battery, it is on the white sticker underneath near the bottom right hand corner.

Mine says the same thing.

I don't know, but I was reading somewhere else where it said that version 4 of the S2's can't be unlocked as easily as the original ones (using free software). So I was wondering if maybe that was fixed as well as the USB connection.
I guess I have read that people ruin their USB ports sometimes on these phones? I just want to avoid anything like that if I could

I don't remember what my original was, but the replacement I got is 0.1 rev as well.

I got mine last month ( refurbished) and its also Rev 0.1...

Thanks for all the replies. Ok so it is safe to say that the rev 0.1 is nothing old or nothing new. It probably is just the same revision that they never updated. Now I just need to see how it overclocks and can be unlocked and I will be a happy camper

Yet your rooted and running UnNamed?
If you did that much, it isn't that hard to run an app or switch a few files to do so.

ICS Officially out for AT&T Note according to Leo Laporte on Twit podcast 5/20/2012
I havent gotten any OTA updates or notifications of it yet but according to Leo Laporte, he has it and it is running on his Note. He made a VERY clear statement that he has not flashed any roms on the phone (when asked about flashing Cyanogen, which to my knowledge is not yet 'really' out) but that he was running ICS that AT&T pushed to his phone. He also made a claim that it would be available in mere days to those who dont yet have it.
http://twit.tv/show/this-week-in-tech/354
It is discussed from a few seconds after 1 hour and 1 minute into the podcast to just prior to 1 hour and 3 minutes (only about a minute and a half).
He also made it VERY clear that AT&T pushed the update (he claims he didnt download it and flash it himself) and that it is an official release that he has on his phone.
Yea, there are no screen shots, no proof, just his word, which sadly doesnt mean much (Leo has a fantastic radio voice but isnt so great on relaying accurate information or opinions sometimes).
If it was officially released by att then surely it would be showing up on kies for some people.

As long as he said it then it must be true, right? I've also got a Note running Jelly Bean.
The only thing I put stock in is when I see it right in front of me, that's not happened yet.

FAIL
If he is really talking about the International Note (n7000), then this thread truly IS an epic fail...
To be fair to the OP, i actually watched the twatcast, and Adam Curry holds his up his AT&T Note when Leo talks about the ICS update being pushed to him. Adam asks "For AT&T, really?" and Leo says "Yes". But they are all talking on top of each other and not really listening to each other, so whatever.
It is here, probably cause the OP, had no clue. He just wanted to be the first of many to yell ICS.

I actually thought it meant, "Our original ICS version had at least 1 major bug that we discovered when testing in real-world situations and we aren't going to release it until it is ready for everyone."
Of course, they could have also meant, "At least one of our 'content partners' (who are paying big bucks to get their advertisement disguised as an application inserted into our release) hasn't actually sent in their app yet and we aren't going to release it until it is monefied for everyone."
LOL im so surprised people are surprised by lack of updates from telus/rogers/bell
we may get most phones before the usa, but we pay for it with our carriers holding back updates

throw on one of the highly debloated roms in the dev section based off LE2 leak.
or go one further and put one of the aosp based roms on there and be gone with all the ATT and Samsung bloat

I don't like AOSP ROMs, I was using OnlyOne HYFR B4, and it still has those AT&T things in Wi-Fi settings, and carrier name on the status bar.
Actually they were not big deal but it had some kind of bug, when I try installing an app from APK file, I can click "Cancel" but I can't click "Install".
So, I will be staying on rooted stock Gingerbread ROM with the holoNote kernel and wait for official ICS from TELUS.
Wow that's rediculous.....

Gnex is ICS out of the box.
@JamieD81, we're in the same boat with bricked N7000's. I bought another N7000 with a cracked screen just for the motherboard, since the only place to get N7000's fixed is in Europe. Plus I went thru 3 mainboards on my I9000M. I still buy Sammie's crap, but I'm being a little more careful about flashing roms now. I'm waiting until the official rom is released, and played with enough before I throw my i717 on the line this time.

Oh well not the worst thing in the world at least we have leaks but maybe on the 12th we could see if the s2 X official ics modem will work with our phone for better hspa speeds as I'm sure allot of people on Telus don't have LTE available
Edit: S2X ICS was released today ahead of schedule before an ATT or T-Mobile release, so the future is looking friendly (<-- see what I did there)

Are you serious? There are so many places that fixes phones in Vancouver/Richmond for a decent price.

What ROM should I install before selling?

My upgrade happens on the 26th and I'm counting down the hours before I can dump this craptacular device.
I'm rooted, natch, and running twisted's ICS.
What should I stick on it when I sell? Should I unroot it?
And where have you guys had the best luck selling?
The slacka$$ in me wants to just stick something stable like Thundershed on it and call it a day.
Well really depends on if the person you are selling it to really wants it rooted right ?

In general, I would put the newest official GB release on and leave it rooted.
Swappa is the one place i hear good things about as for selling a phone.
Honestly I would just leave it as is and sell it on swappa. I've seen a lot of phones sold on there with cm roms installed.

[DEV] Galaxy S5 Service Codes/ Sim Unlocking (Like we did on the S4)

Hoping to get a couple people to help explore the options for SSIM Unlocking our S5's in a similar manner to the way we achieved it on the S4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068
This post here had the Service codes -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41237580&postcount=7
I tried all of them and the important menu, #7 UMTS is absent due to the *#27663368378# Being disabled.
I forget if there was a LIST or way to dump the service code lists from a rooted device. Will constantly update with progress/ MODS, not allowd in this section? Move it please.
Let the work begin.

Would be sweet if it was in plain text like we found on the HTC SENSATION. That wont happen on a Samy device. We can still dream though.

No OEM unlock option in T-Mobile Samsung S9+?

I have a T-Mobile s9+ and for the life of me, I cannot get the OEM unlock button to show in Dev options. I've had my phone for over the 7 days, as I saw you need. I've even tried doing the "change the date manually and restart" trick and no luck.
Is there no option for the T-Mobile version of this phone and it's already OEM unlocked? Can I just go ahead and root my phone without issue? Or do I need to get that button before I can go ahead and root/install a new rom?
If you have the G965U, no you will not be able to unlock the boot loader.. My oppinon, is when all manufactures were done stealing ideas from dev's live here on XDA.. They decided they did not need them anymore and locked the phones down.

You can install GSI, but they have the same downsides that the default oreo root ROM included has, if not more. I'm on 10 too lol. I tested it, played around with it then went back to stock. It was neat.

I mean the good thing about this method is that it doesn't unlock bootloader, so it doesn't trip knox. The bad thing about not unlocking bootloader is that you can't install custom kernels or recoveries.

I'm hoping the next phone I get, the BL can be unlocked. But I will have to do good research as to which will work with T Mobile. That is who I have now.
