[HOW TO] How to completely remove an app? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is my case:
I have installed some apps on my SGSII without buying from the market (just for testing). Now I decide to buy them from the market but I can't, even when I uninstall them from my phone, clear their data... the market still consider that I have purchased those apps so I can't buy them.
How can I fix it?
P/S: Sorry for my English, it's not my primary language.

You can choose to clear market data and login again...btw this would like the first time you ran market by accepting conditions n all...
Taptlk'd from my sgs2!

No you won't. Your purchases are tied to your google account, not any local data you have.

Not working, it's still "purchased"

The "purchased flag" is not on your phone - it's stored within your Google account, so there is nothing you can do about this. Contact Google and ask them for advice, but I'll tell you now that they won't help you.
Just out of curiosity, why are you bothered about paying for the app now? You've obviously downloaded it for free from somewhere before now.

I know i probably shouldnt but i do this. Download from "other" places first and the purchase once i have treid properly. I dont think 15min is enough to get a handle on some apps. But i feel if you gonna use a payed app, buy it.

It's saled off now, just 0,25$ - 0,49$, with that price I thought buying is better than searching.

No google voice?

Can't access it from the market.
My number is ported through google voice.
What give? Am I missing something?
IDK what to tell you, I have it. I used it to text before I even activated the phone.
I have a 3D now and I was able to download it just fine. Works good on EVO 3D.
working good here too, try rebooting your phone.
Yup, same here. Works great.
i noticed this today also
i got my phone yesterday and downloaded it fine
i got my moms today and its not there in the market
Wait, what? Can anyone else confirm this? I know it's probably something that will get resolved pretty quickly, but I'm going to have a major problem if I can't have my google voice app for even a day. I guess I'll just not activate the phone until someone posts that it's definitely in the market.

google voice is in the market on the evo 3d i just downloaded it right now
When I searched for it, I couldn't find it either. I had to find another Google application and at the bottom of that app's page, click on "View other applications" to see other apps developed by Google.
i just 'pushed' it from the android website from my desktop. it's there. it works.

In general, when I can't find a known app on the market, I go to www.appbrain.com , find the app and install it with the QR code. DON'T create an appbrain account and it will show you everything, not just the apps that it "thinks" are compatible with your phone. Here is a direct link to GV and here is the actual QR code if you don't want to bother with all that clicking.

Ok. From what I have read you have to log onto Google voice on a pc and on the upper right you click and disable text in that. That is how u disable this. I hadn't tried it yet since I'm not at my pc. Let me know if it works.

The only thing I could think of is that my device is rooted so the app wont let me use it. However, my nexus 7 is rooted and I can still play this game which doesn't make any sense.. any ideas?

If you are looking at the app in the play store you should see device compatibility, if it's not compatible there that could be one issue. Did you side load the app, d/l it from a site that other than the play store? Need some more info.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to imply it was cracked, just wasn't sure if it came from a different store other than play, there are many out there. Honestly I have no clue why, sort of like why my Nexus 7 can't install the Amazon Mobile (Store) app but my Galaxy Note 2 can, very odd thing. So again, sorry about any misunderstanding. Did you try to side load the apk file or change something in the build prop?

It's alright man haha. I actually fixed the problem. It was because I wasn't connected to wifi/mobile data and it's one of those games where it checks for a license every time you open it. It was a fail on my part. Thanks for your time though!

Pop Up Ads All Over

I have just, in the past couple of days, developed a pretty serious issue with pop-up ads appearing all over the place on my phone. They come in two different ways. 1st is when an ad pops up over the top of another app. This has happened with GO SMS and with the Facebook app for sure. I can't recall what other apps it has happened with, but I don't get the impression that the ad is related to the app I'm in. I've had them pop up on the home screen as well.
Here is an example of a pop-up ad when I opened GO SMS:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I also have it happen where I open my browser (I use Chrome) and it will automatically launch a new tab, then the tab will act as a redirect and send me to the Play Store for another app (basically sending me to the download/install page for an app).
I don't recall installing any apps just before this started happening. I believe that my app list is the same before and after this issue, but I'll keep looking. I have not rooted and am using the Nova Pro launcher, if that helps at all.
How can I figure out what is causing this and, most importantly, how do I make it go away? A factory reset is an option, but I'd like to keep that as a last resort if possible.
Thank you for any and all help.

Air Push Detector said it is not necessary for Android 4.1+. I ran it, though, and told it to scan anyways. It didn't find anything.
It is driving me nuts that I can't nail down where these are coming from.
Try uninstalling gosms. If I remember right. When I tried that crapp it was full of ads

I can try that. If that is the offender, that'll be a real bummer. Used it for about a year, now, between my S3 and Note 3 and never had an issue. I got pretty comfy with using it as a messaging app, too.
That said, if it is going to cause pop-ups like this, it isn't worth it.

You recently change a theme in it or something?
Many of the "free" addons to Go* products are full of this crap.

I had an add on, but it was from a while ago. I can't really think of a thing I changed between it not happening and happening.
I have deleted GO SMS, though, and have not experienced the issue since. Looking like that was the culprit. Now I just need to find an acceptable SMS app.

factory reset
Settings>Apps>Google Play Store
Then:
1. Uninstall Updates
2. Clear Data
3. Force Stop
4. Reboot
See if that helps. And next time please use Google, lol

Moved to Q&A..
As suggested probably best is a factory reset. That ought to remove it.
But you need to track down which app you installed that put that in or it will happen again.
Ok, so far I've done the following with no success:
- removed several recently installed apps
- cleared data on play store
- full wipe and reinstall ROM
The [email protected]&# message comes back every time. I have googled this and strangely have not found much on it, nor any clear/useful ideas on getting rid of it, or what app/process makes it show up. Really frustrating...

Damn, finally figured it out, appears it was legit. Maybe associated with the fact that I recently turned on, and then turned off, two step verification with my Gmail account. Hit continue and Google verified my account settings. I had already done that on my pc, but for some reason Google wanted to verify on my phone as well. Weird!

8.6Mb data used in Pay and 2.4Mb data used in Pay Framework here, I have 2 Bank cards, 3 Membership cards, I'm registered for the reward program and I'm using the app regularly.
Something is wrong with Pay using 6Gb of data, did you try cleaning up with Settings-> Device Maintenance-> Storage -> Clean Now?

Could be a reporting glitch. Boot phone into recovery and clear cache. Then boot up and check. If that doesn't change it you will have to reset the app. There is no other way.
