As we all know that the ICS update on the 10th of March, will I be able to update OTA update with this current baseband? It bcame LPH after flashing litening rom then reverted back to previous rom using rom manager however the baseband remained LPH. For OTA/KIES update to work, do i need to flash stock rom first?

Can anyone help me ?

Bit of patience might help. Bumping your thread an hour after you asked your initial question isn't likely to endear you to anyone here
Yes. If you want to get ICS via Kies, you'll need to go back to stock.

Updating through KIES if you are a power user isn't so good to be honest. For example, KIES force you to use the original ROMs baseband version if you want to receive firmware updates (also correct CSC and so on). Newest baseband doesn't always means the best one. I have compared XXKI4 to XXLPH and surely I've got better battery life-performance balance in KI4 So i can recommend you using Mobile Odin/Odin for flashing .. more flexibility to be honest

Baseband is not relevant .
Custom kernel is .
Kies updates those phones that have original firmware codes anything else and its a maybe.
OTA no rollout on that so far but supposed to be working for ICS .

Android ROM/firmware/modem/kernel terms?

Hi,
Sorry if its a rather simple question but can someone please either explain or point me in the right direction on the different terms used on Android phones especially when it comes to custom roms, kernels, firmware etc
What do these terms mean, what do they do and what can be updated individually or what comes part of other software/firmware/ROM etc..
Also which terms are used interchangeably but mean the same...
Apologies for asking this simple question and thanks in advance as I'm confused to what exactly i can update, in what order etc! BTW I'm using an old miui build and i thought i was running an old siya kernel? I still want to stick with miui ROM....

basical the following is:
baseband = modem is the radio that allows you to make calls.
kernal = firmware which contains the apps and other controls.
build = Rom is firmware, modem, bootloader all under one file.
Kernel the very base of the OS communicates between cpu etc and OS .Same as Linux or Windows kernel
Firmware usually a full package includes apps kernel modem OS and csc .
Modems are interchangeable for most country's
Kernels are interchangeable .

why no battery% on stock ics?

http://youtu.be/tKHaoQ-QfrQ
in this video aaron shows the features of the official ics update for the t-mobile sgs2 downloaded via kies.
what i noticed is that he showed the battery percentage feature.
so my question is why does the t-mobile sgs2 have battery percentage in the display settings and the international sgs2 doesnt?
Wouldn't that question be best addressed to Samsung ?
asked via email, no answer since yesterday.
maybe someone at xda knows why...

Unless that someone at XDA works for Samsung doing programming for the framework for the I9100, all you'll get is baseless speculation.
Buddy, it is here, not all region roms have that option.
XXlpw, JHLP9 and the leaked jplpc ROM has this option.
downloading neat 2.2 (xxlpw)
thanks allot for the info :>

I have the international (i9100) S2, and I have the battery percentage in display settings, after official my ICS update. Check if you're running 4.0.3 or 4.0.4, the first OTA I had to 4.0.3 didnt have this option. Now, I've received another OTA to 4.0.4 where I can show battery percentage as stated.
Hope this helps

[Q] Galaxy s3 firmware upgrade through kies is not supported on my device?

I updated Kies and connected my S3 to see if there were any updates
Kies says my device doesnt support firmware upgrades through kies..is this true or do I need to reinstall kies as I previously used it with my S2
Meaning is usually one their is actually no update for you yet .
Or you have none official firmware .
Solution as always same as SGS2
Wait Or use CHECKFUS or download stock firmware from sammobile or from stock firmware post or from stock rom thread .
jje
hmmm, strange way of writing this message ?
Anyway, I am still running official stock so I will wait untill there is a new firware available for The Netherlands
For the time being I am testing battery life with this one
Not to bad I must admit. First battery cycle 7 hours on screen time
have you rooted or has your CSC changed? that error is also tied to incorrect CSC codes
haven't done anything so far.
Just took it out of the box and started to play with it ;-)
using mac or pc?
This is using a PC running Windows 7 and last version of Kies
if all is well with kies it should look like this

This is what mine shows :
you could flash stock unbranded GT-I9300_PHN_I9300XXALE8_I9300PHNALE4_I9300XXLE8
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=4666
maybe that'll fix it, bit of a strange one to have that problem out of the box?
I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I used to connect with my S2 and Galaxy tab 8.9 ?
When you suggest to flash the LE8 this would be using ODIN ?
yes,

check my previous post for your stock unbranded firmware link
Thanks for your help
O, I also found that problem when I tried to update my Galaxy Y, I think the application has some problem. And I have downloaded the latest version of the Kies, its sucksss...So I update my mobile via mobile, so you should update it via your phone going to about>software update....

One UI 1 Beta version, how to go to the full version of Android 9

Hello!
I'm currently on the Beta version of Android 9 One UI 1. however in my country (The Netherlands) the full version released but somehow I didn't get the update over air.
Everytime I press Software update, it says:
''The latest update has already been installed
Current version G965FXXU2ZRKA/G9665FOXM2ZRK9/G965FXXU2ZRK9''
How can I install the full version without losing all my data again?
Hello
The release for the U1 version did not come out yet firstly, secondly you already have the first bet and there were 4 and 1 fixes, and when the release for odin comes out, you can flash the home file in csc and the data will not be deleted, but then there may be problems.

I'm sorry, I didn’t understand correctly when you wrote U1, because there is a g965u1 device, for exynos smartphones yes, it is really updated, download samfirm, write G965F and your region and it will find and download the firmware for odin
