[Q] Gingerbread update for unlocked T-mobile P500 - Optimus One, P500, V General

I have a LG Optimus P500 from T-mobile which is unlocked to all GSM sims. It runs Fryo 2.2 and I would like to upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.x. Is it possible to do that? Would that lock or brick the phone? Is there any way that I could install gingerbread 2.3.x since I don't also see T-mobile official gingerbread release anywhere for P500.
Is KDZ an option or should I stick with Fryo?

T-mobile has not released an official update for next version of android popularly known as gingerbread. KDZ is a gingerbread update for lg and it is a firmware update utility specifically meant for lg phones.

I know that I can update using KDZ but I have a unlocked phone and just skeptical if it would get it locked and also the chances of getting it bricked are more since it is a unlocked phone. Just trying out to know if someone had used KDZ on an unlocked T-mobile P500 phone.

u guy can help me up rom 2.3 for lg ku 3700 korea version.thanks so much

Seems like we both are trying to get a response but let us see....

I have the same exact phone from Walmart on T-Mobile. I tried to use kdz and bricked my last phone. Luckily walmarts people sent me a brand new one when I told them it bbricked while I was talking on it. SO being very careful I rooted and flashed clockwork mod, made a backup and then flashed cm7 nightly 34 which has been working amazing for weeks now, just had to use funny sim fix for the data to work.

Thanks for the update and info. Now I know using KDZ would brick the phone. I also bought it through Walmart but I would be here in Bangalore for sometime and I have unlocked the phone. As you have mentioned I would like to root and flash clockworkmod but since I have unlocked it I doubt it would work or if I try it would lock again.

Can you post a download link for cm 7 most recent

There is a thread somewhere with the official LG GB roms.
I loaded the rom for Taiwan with KDZ on my unlocked P509T.
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/ATWNBK/V20d_00/V20D_00.kdz
It has indonesian, german, english, spanish, french, italian, malay, portuguese, viet, turkish, arabic, korean, chinese in the language & keyboard menu.
It is unbranded and has little bloatware. And the phone now ids itself as a P500.
Rooted with the lge_adb.conf trick and superoneclick
EDGE & HSDPA connect fine - at least for TMO MyAccount - out here
in Los Angeles.
The most important function lost was WiFi calling, otherwise it seems to work ok.
You can always flash back it to the official froyo if it doesn't work out.

All you have to do is do a search about rooting and flashing recovery then flashing ROM's its all here just search for it. And if you can't find what you need Google still is a working reliable search engine.

<gingerbread> how to update without bricking?

Today v20c was deployed. Last time I tried to update an optimus one with the lg software the phone was bricked. Is there a failsafe guide to update the phone?
Thanks.
Go to service center.

just put your phone in emergency and use kdzupdater, BUT do not unplug you phone untill it restarts itself. even if there is any error just start over but DO NOT UNPLUG YOU PHONE
Download the kdz file, use tools to get Dz file from kdz, backup NV from lgmdp ,flash dz file using lgmdp software (DZ button at bottom of flash window). Never lose emergency mode.(don't remove battery)

today in italy the v20c was released and I updated using the official procedure more than 12 phones.
Maybe you problems with official update procedure could be related to the computer you used for.
I believe that if you follow the procedure on a "clean" computer you will have success. Uninstall all software and drivers related to LG or any other phone. Check in devices if all USB and modem drivers was removed and reboot.
Start installing the LGMobile Update without connect your phone by USB and follow instructions. If you have success uninstalling previous soft and drivers, the LG application will install USB drivers and after you can connect you phone and continue with update.
Good luck
KDZ worked without any hassle. I just deactivated the LG modem before proceeding.
I updated 3 phones with this system.
I updated using lgmdp and now my phone will not get data so no internet unless i am on wifi does anyone know why or how to fx it?????

it didn't work with my phone in general after flashing the new official update I couldn't get 3g anywhere even on that rom tried flashing a new baseband thru recovery and kdz but nothing had to use kdz to flash original firmware and start over it was a pain in the butt the ROM looked cool but with no data no thank you

Well, enjoy your non-working data then. The new baseband will NOT work on CM7, period.
Next time, think about what you are doing.

You don't understand my data did not work on the official ROM either I did everything it said to do fallowed all the steps and it went just like the post read I rebooted the ROM worked except the data even with the official ROM it would not work I even tried flashing the baseband again for the v20 rom but still nothing and the only way I could get it back was by using kdz and flashing original 2.2 and starting over
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
ZOMG. You are not supposed to use v20? baseband for the ROM you have in signature (CyanogenMod 7.1-RC0 v6.5.5). It will just NOT work.
- Check that you have v10 baseband
- Wipe all, reflash mik's ROM.
- Do NOT flash any other baseband "patch" or whatever similar.
Now you will have perfectly working data.
v20 baseband will ONLY work on official 2.3.3 ROM and ROMs based on that official 2.3.3. ROM.
If you still do not understand this explanation, then kindly stick to stock ROM and do not flash anything at all.

[Q] Get euro/german rom on my at&t atrix

Hey guys, got an Atrix 4g one week ago, it's a at&t atrix, unlocked by code, for now rooted & on olyfr_u4_1.8.3.
Bootloader is locked.
The only think that i want to change is the system language to german.
so i downloadet morelocale 2 an set to german.
but it change only some apps and the market, and not the complete system..
The first Atrix's in Germany are sold 2 or 3 days ago, and we have a little comunity, so my question:
Can somebody dump an euro frimware and can i flash it on my atrix 4g?
Are there any hardware changes on the euro atrix?
Is there allready an tutorial or can somebody makes one?
THX guys!
A system dumb wont work cause the att one is different from the retail/german one (same hardware but different software) what you can do is wait until the first custom are available cause e.g. cm7 has support for german language. I am doing the same cause mine is a att one too

[REMARK] Are LG RE-Making GingerBread?

This might seem crazy, but has anyone noticed that all the Optimus one official GB links dont work anymore?
most people probably already have the KDZ, but LG have taken it off their servers and you can no longer update with the lg mobile updater tool. And to top it off, the Update Notification app in the stock rom says V10E is the latest update.
Maybe LG are RE-Making V20?
What do you guys thinks happening?
Personnally i hope the new GB (if thats it) is like the firmware of the Optimus NET

I don't think they will be making more updates. They want people to buy newer models, it's not their interest to keep people happy with their old phones...

All the other KDZ links are down; i think, because i have tried V20A; V20E; V20F; not V20C yet. But all these seem to not work.
The main cause could be that LG simply dont think that their GB is decent enough and took it down. but after half a year of saying GB would come, LG wouldnt just say stuff you guys and remove European V20 unless they were gonna change it somehow
Thoughts?

It Says V10B was removed, meaning LG dont WANT us to have it. They wouldnt take it offline after more than half a year of promising. The official update was online for a month. LG are definately doing something, or it wouldnt be offline.

stuck on bootloop with security error message. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING. I just want to get the phone back to stock. nothing works. Has anyone had this problem and successfully unbricked their phone? Any help is appreciated.
the problem is being worked on as we speak, mostly due to not having kdz files for that version of the L9. I use the same version too, most of the time, which is why i'm not doing much beyond rooting it and freezing the bloatware.

Use the KDZ for the Canadian P769:
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=18
If it works, you will loose wifi calling and any of the T-Mobile bloatware. I may be able to send you my kernel, wifi calling APKs, and T-Mobile bloatware.
Good luck.

Canadian V11a works great on T-mobile P769BK phone, I am on at&t SIM, work great on at&t than it on t-mobile.
Actually, it is very clean rom without any bloatware except default web page to Wind Mobile website.

So can be rooted or not be rooted? I am confused on that one. I figured the same method would work as the 10E. I am hoping this will let me get back use of my recovery on my P769BK for T-mobile US. After a failed OTA reboot to recovery either reboots phone or goes to dead android.

I am using the Canadian 11A on my US T-Mobile P789BK. It can not be rooted using any of the current methods.
The firmware itself is nice in that it is fast and pretty much bloat free. The little bit that is there can easily be disabled.
Everything works great including wifi hotspot and usb tether. I have been running it for a week now and so far I haven't run into any problems.
I hope someone can come up with a method to root it as I would love to have that option once again.
BTW:
I have used the KDZ offline method to install USA 10G and Canadian 11A and there is no problem going back and forth between the two at any time. Even all apps, wallpaper, data...etc. remain untouched. You would not even know that you switched except for the additional T-Mobile apps and the boot screens.
