Droid Incredible HD?! - HTC Rezound

If this is true I guess I'll have to 'hand-me-down' my Rezound to my wife like I did with the DROID Incredible 1.
http://www.droiddog.com/android-blog/2012/03/htc-droid-incredible-hd-hits-the-fcc-lte-on-board/

yeah but the specs still don't match that of the rezound, according to the rumors.

its HTC'S Mid range device like the ONE S for verizon

thunderbolt 4g → rezound (high-end)
incredible 2 → incredible hd (mid-range)

And you would think the 'Incredible' would be a high end device by name alone! Bastards..

i doubt its incredible hd. remember we were suppose tobe the incredible hd. im guessing its a qhd display. its amoled as well.

Droid Incredible → Rezound.
The Rezound feels like the Dinc did in its launch which is great I love my Rezound, everything reminds me of the Dinc. The Dinc 2 felt like a completely different phone, still great but nothing like the Rez or Dinc.

blue snake is right... the Inc was the flagship, then the Inc 2 was nothing.. and the tbolt was nothing... and even though the rezound is nothing, it's much more like the Inc 1 instead of the tbolt

Meh...the rezound will still be the best phone in verizons lineup, spec wise i mean.

It won't be stock ICS.. VZW loves to put their crap bloat on phones, it's how they make more $$$. IMO I bet the Galaxy Nexus will be the last out of the box AOSP device we see on Verizon.

Indeed. If Verizon had their way with the Gnex, it woulda been loaded with just as much bloat as all the smartphones on VZW.

I am actually experiencing major buyer's remorse because of this.. I had dinc's 1&2 and loved them and I chose this phone because of the similarities but if the dinc 3 comes out I am going to be bummin big time

i mean the designs are identical minus the 3 capacitive buttons. im not sure what verizon is thinking here?

Yeah just saw that. Honestly, I don't like the styling changes from the Rezound to that. If only the Rezound came with NFC, then there would be absolutely no reason to envy any other device.

How is this a stupid marketing move? The Rezound is in a different class than the Inc line. The Rez is low upper tier whereas the Inc is high middle tier. The Inc 4g will have a qHD display, not the 720p of our device. The Rez successor is essentially the One XL, which VZW hasn't released a version of yet.

I wouldn't say they dropped the ball, necessarily. The Rez just had horrible timing. A month, essentially, before the most anticipated flop, I mean, device on VZW in the Gnex? Then the mighty Razr line. VZW will always push Moto devices harder than HTC because Moto plays nice and HTC doesn't (in their eyes, not for people like us). Moto keeps everything locked down and HTC is more user-friendly. I seriously doubt the Dinc 4g will be marketed any more than the Rez.
EDIT: and the red accents thing is HTC, not VZW, ie the Sensation and every other HTC device of the past year.

Interestingly enough it says on that article (taken with a grain of salt) that it has Android 4.0 with Sense 4. Interesting. If true, I wonder if it could mean that at some point Sense 4 *could* come to our rezound?
This is all about the DROID branding, therefore it'll get pushed hard, but the big thing the article doesn't mention.
Is the dual core, a Snapdragon S3 or S4?
If it's S3, we got it beat, if it's S4, this device is a bit better in terms of raw power and ability.

Rezound vs Vivid

I have a Vivid, a friend of mine on Verizon has a Droid Bionic. Been having some issues with it and obviously it's a Motorola so it's locked down. He asked if I'd recommend the rezound. From what I've seen the rezound doesn't have ics yet and I imagine it'll be the same terrible sense infested 3.6 pos that's on my phone. My real question is, does s-off require a wire trick and are there any cm builds for it? Based on my phone imo I can't recommend because development wise its kind of a dead end.

Same s-off wire trick, same pos sense 3.6 tho you can get sense 4 roms. No CM yet... Almost there but not yet.
That's an advantage over the vivid definitely as sense 4 isn't possible due to ril restrictions imposed by at&t. Still sounds just like the vivid though as not being the most developer friendly

Yeah nowhere near the development of the nexus or anything but it's not too too bad
The Rezound certainly has been a ruff road to follow development wise. It is an awesome device with stellar specs. The one downfall is the device is still waiting on full AOSP support. Apparently though one of our developers did have a break through the other night with getting LTE data working. So hopefully it won't be very long yet as he is just basically working out one final bug before he releases his work to the community.
One thing is for sure, the Rezound has awesome radio support, so signal wise its pretty much the best out there. Atleast in my opinion.

So I doubt my friend would be willing to do the wire trick, as I haven't done it on my Vivid, however I know on the Vivid you can get by fine with s-on, you just gotta flash boot.img through fastboot before you flash a rom in recovery. Same ordeal pretty much? I'm guessing so, internally our phones our identical aside from the radios and the rezound being clocked 300mhs faster. They are both HTC sensations at their core lol

Tell him to get it man. Like it was said before, the rezound is way above league then the bionic. Both the Rez and Nexus have their strong points, overall most people agree that the rezounds strong point is hardware, and the nexus is software. Though ill tell you that Newts Sense 4 is amazing, and I have been using it since his original release, it only keeps getting better.
And if chad can pull off a lock on 4g, with Aosp, the rezound will only be arguably the best phone on Verizon.

Well, it started with the many replacements of the tbolt, then HTC's hard stance against updating their tablets kinda pushed me over the edge, then they updated the flyer/view to broken software and they wont even fix it. Now the Rezound is having touchscreen issues. So I'm just tired of dealing with the problems and the lack of OEM support after purchase. I appreciate the Dev community for the zound, but sammy seems to be stronger in that dept. So I think I am going to give them a shot. I won't touch Moto with a ten foot pole. It may be a bad move, but I'm willing to take that risk after all the issues I have had recently with HTC. So for me, from here on out, it's going to be Nexus, or Samsung.
Samsung is worse.
I love my Rez and I still think of it as probably one of the, if not the most undervalued android phone released to date, but I don't see myself going for yet another carrier exclusive device after this. Of course, reviews might be so great for the DNA that I could change my mind but so far I am not that impressed.
Having said that however, the lack of a LTE capable Nexus 4 kinda limits the options for those looking to upgrade atm and I really cant see myself with a Galaxy S device. Wish Sony would be given a chance at penetrating the US market, they seem to strike a fair balance between corporate dev support, hardware and software quality.
I'll be getting this. The hardware and build quality will be top notch, it can be unlocked through HTCs dev website and be able to load cm. It was between this and the note but son, I am dissapoint at it having the older gen exynos and 720p screen on a 5.5 inch screen.
no, my next phone will be honor 2 or note 2

Its looking like ill most likely be getting it. I'm thinking ill be getting the DNA and one other new gen phone probably a GSM phone since I have two contracts, one with ATT and one with Verizon.
But I will be more careful than usual with this purchase. I'm currently so broke I can't afford the down payment on a grilled cheese sandwich. But this phone is a priority, and I owe it to the BAMF community. So I've been saving my pennies and will be selling some stuff to raise some funds.

samsungs radios and signal are 10x worse.
in my house, my gs3 gets about 6kbps download on 3g.
my rezound, when its not pulling 4g in my house (which the nexus and GS3 CAN'T), pulls atleast half a meg to a meg per second. doing anything on the gs3 on 3g is terrible, and ridiculously slow. fb app won't even load. rezound loads it no problem. hell, i even tethered 3 tablets to my rezound last night and while we were all browsing at the same time, ti was STILl faster than my gs3
i don't think i'd buy antoher samsung phone ever again, and i really want the DNA...dunno if i wanna fork out 600 bones for it tohugh

Key Lime Pie for the DNA a possibility?

First of all i would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the developers that have put their time and energy into the DNA.
Secondly i just wanted to inquire if there would be any possibility of the DNA getting Key Lime Pie (when it releases of course) with the assistance of the talented developer repertoire?
There's a possibility i'll win the lottery tomorrow.
So I would say yes, there is a possibility.
With HTC's track record and this being a Verizon only device, I would bet on no. Not to mention that they have already shifted their focus to the M7 which seems to be headed for a multi-carrier release. I'm sure they will go (almost) all-in with the M7 since it might make or break them in a lot of ways.
Just my opnion, but like was said above, anything is a possibility.

I'm not so sure VZW will be getting the M7 though.
and to the OP, we most likely won't see KLP officially on our phone, but considering the M7 is mostly the same hardware as the DNA, It SHOULD be easily ported. I had a rezound that had ICS and Sense 4 long before ICS was officially supported on the phone and that phone NEVER officially got Sense4.
not to mention someone already has Sense 5 on their DNA (sense 5 being released with the M7)
Has Key Lime Pie actually been talked about anywhere besides rumors though?? just curious.

Not enough of a difference to make me say I regret getting the DNA.

If you already have the DNA, you shouldn't regret it. I doubt the M7 will be a night and day difference in performance. It all depends on Sense 5 for noticeable performance gains imo.

Fingers crossed

i dont regret getting my DNA. its an excellent phone. Key Lime Pie is slated for a release sometime in May, so i was just wondering if the DNA would get it in one way or the other. I mean, my OG Incredible got a Jellybean port lol
Since i believe htc +verizon just upgraded tb to ics any thing is possible..
Fyi my son just got dna i think battery life is a little disappointing again much like tb

Your son most likely has it on full brightness and playing games all day because if you're comparing the battery life with the tb...oh man... But battery isn't bad at all

Yea, it doesn't have any of the red accenting (or anything similar to that) that gives the DNA it's premium feel.
Also, I believe that the DNA will get KLP since its so popular and such a super phone.

Yeah I am very interested to see how sense 5 is. I like 4+ but I hope that the scrolling from screen to screen isn't so heavy. That's the only reason I use nova prime on this phone.

To keep or to Sell my DNA....

So...I've totally switched over to the S4, and I'm liking it enough to keep it. Now I have to debate on selling my DNA or keeping it as a backup (still have my old thunderbolt as well)...
Opinions?

I'd keep it as a backup, I'll be keeping my DNA as a backup when I move on, sell my current gnex backup. Not as much money returned, but really, a DNA as a backup is a pretty bad ass backup.

My son uses my gnex since it just sits otherwise. And an iPhone 4, each has games the other doesn't lol. He's not even 5 yet :sly:

I almost sold mine, but was worried that it would have the no sim card error for the next owner. I'm pretty much stuck into keeping it. The sucky hardware buttons (not the volume or power button) on the s4 have been reason enough for me to stay with the dan.
Sell the gs4 and keep the DNA lol

I hate to say it, I kind of like the S4 a lil better.
So far there haven't been any phones that would be a large enough technological leap to warrant a new phone but if you do I'd keep the dna just in case and sell the tbolt

The s800 wipes the floor with the the s4 pro, though. The Note 3 is incredibly intriguing, albeit too big for me.
I really like my DNA. I am personally not a big fan of AMOLED. I have heard they have gotten better, but the GNex kind of ruined it for me.
On another note, it's pretty bad ass that the DNA will receive 4.3 before the Verizon GNex (that is if the Verizon GNex ever gets 4.3).

According to HTC's Jason Mackenzie , "Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well.", the DNA is supposed to be to 4.3. Verizon's support page doesn't say either 4.2 or 4.3, so I guess we'll have to wait and see...

This. Everyone keeps saying 4.2, but the support documents that Verizon put out doesn't say anything about the version number. The only thing we're going on now is HTC's comment.

While the transparent screen is an interesting thing to see it never made any sense to me as a new technology to focus on as it just reduces the quality of the screen image. The note 3 is the most powerful so far but honestly will anyone notice the speed difference now considering how powerful both phones are?
