(Q)How to change status bar icon colors - HTC Rezound

Ive been searching for the better part of this morning on how to change the status bar icons. My battery is red right now but i want to change the 3g/4g icon, signal bars and whatever else i can to match. Ive been able to find the files i need to edit but thats where im stuck. I downloaded gimp and cant really figure out how to change the colors. Is there another program i can use to edit them? Or can someone just help me any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using the UOT Kitchen.
http://uot.dakra.lt/

Thanks I've tried that but can't get the 3g icon and wifi to change. Are you able to?

Haven't done it with the Kitchen, but I did use this guide to change my status bar icons.

Thanks a lot for that I just read over it and it doesnt seem hard at all. The problem im having now is finding an icon pack with all the signal bars and wifi bars, etc

If you like something from the UOT kitchen, just screenshot the demo icons, resize and format them accordingly.

I didn't even think of that. Thanks a lot you just made my day

if you still need a hand, shoot me a pm and ill give you directions on how to do it with gimp, its actually rather easy, although there are quite a few icons to change

Thanks that would be great I sent you a pm but it's not showing in my sent box. If you can pm me maybe that will work. Thanks for being willing to help

[Theme] Gingerbread CM6.1

Made this for myself and thought I would share. Support will be minimal due to time limitations. Unless there is a major problem.
This has been used with CM6.1 on both a Vibrant and Nexus One.
Not responsible if you don't know what you are doing.
Included apk's are:
- Browser.apk
- Contacts.apk
- Phone.apk
- Settings.apk
- mms.apk
- framework-res.apk
All of these are fully themed using the gingerbread files graphics files.
XML edits were also done to make the menus black with white text.
I didn't include the gmail app since it is from the market now. If you want to theme the notification icon, use a morph that is posted in the theme section. Or use ninja morph.
Enjoy!
p.s. must change clock date and notification text colors to match in CyanogenMOD settings (UI tweaks)
Wow booted with no problem. Awesome work... can u boot this on a nexus too or did u modify it from the nexus, for the cm6 for vibrant... its really themed well.
It will work on the nexus as well. Confirmed by my co-worker.
Nice! Maybe I can use other cyanogen mod themes from the nexus forums
Do I load this using morph or CW?
Flash in clockwork recovery
Looks good. Just want to know,
in case I want to go back to the previous theme, what should I do?
Thanks for the work and help.

what part of your theme mods the menus black? wanna use it for my personal gingerbread theme for the vibrant.
edit: saw your post in the other thread explaining it to be an xml edit in framework.res-apk

everything is perfect only 1 thing, signal bars stay gray??
Signal bars should be green if you are in network. some of the roaming bars are gray.

Actually in the gingerbread sdk they are all grey. But the green does look better.

I just ripped open the framework-res.apk included in this theme and the green bar .png's are indeed there, so not sure what's causing them not to show up.
What weather widget is that? Can I find that somewhere around here?
ok so, there must be some major issues with the network in my area today. I normally get bars and today I haven't gotten any but my data is there, however, very spotty as well. Guess is they're fixing the network or something. The green bars should show up as they have on other 2.3 themes, as the .png's appear to be there in this theme as well. Thanks OP.
Wow thanks so much.
This is really amazing. I appreciate your hard work and for you reading it to the community

Translucent notification bar for GB?

I did some googling but the few solutions I found did not work, does anyone know a good mod or app to make the notification bar translucent on GB roms? Specifically I am on Simply Honey 5.0. Metamorph or otherwise?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the advice, I went there and was eventually able to make a pretty decent themed pulldown menu, but the only thing that didn't change was the top bar even though it was right in the example it showed before I finished it. I tried a few more but everytime the bar was the only thing that wouldn't change.
Oh well, I just can't seem to work this thing out. Thanks anyways!

decompile the apk, I think its systemui.apk and then modify the status bar and then recompile it

1% battery mod

I did some Googling and searched the thread but i didn't find anything.
Is there a mod for 1% battery increments for the stock rooted 2.3.4 x2?
I've found them for other phones and built into rom's but what about stock rooted?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
1) wrong section
2) check out UOT Kitchen. You can customize your own battery symbol how ever you want. And its flushable, just have to upload systemui and framework-res.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
i have rom toolbox so yes i already can change the battery icon....thats not what i am looking for...i want it to read in 1% increments...stock doesn't....i cant update the icon that is capable of doing that but it'll still just update in the stock increments
This post prolly get moved to Q&A...but anyways the 1%mod is a series of edits somewhere in the framework I believe.
I thought I had seen a flashable version a long while ago but can't find it. It gonna take some digging around to find....good luck
Use UOT Kitchen to make a mod, its easy and customizable.
I could make you one if you want.

That's a good idea the only thing is u need to be on home screen to see the 1% increments.
Other than that...good idea
Ya thanks for the idea I just want it built into the status bar like all the rom's. I can't believe there isn't something available already to flash to get this...oh well I'm a dev will eventually do it

Actually you can show on notification bar.

True but I'd rather have that not running in the background and don't need additional icon in the bar.....thanks though....I want the current battery icon to just read 1% increments and then I can update the icon with rom toolbox.

I PM'd you a solution.
ok, I'm still an android noob, but I believe the functionality is already there, its not like my prior TP2 that required special drivers.
Hence I think you really could just use UOT to change the existing icon on the bar to the needle gauge type with numbers?
somebody correct me if I'm wrong?

You can use UOT Kitchen to mod everything but status bar and boot animation.
You just have ROM use the right systemui and framework-res apks, otherwise you'll get fcs operantly.

[Q] Change color of "15 toggle" mod

How would I go about changing the color of the "15 toggle" mod myself?
What color did you want? There's blue, purple, and green.
I know what colors there are lol. Off the top of my head I can think of 140+ other colors I'd might like to have...

Open up the lidroid apk with 7zip or similar program pull out the drawable-hdpi folder.Leave the Lidroid.apk open on your desktop. Color the images to your liking. Then drag the folder back to the open lidroid.apk on your desktop.Close apk.Push to phone. PROFIT!

You could pull it apart, decompile the apks, change the color of the images, and recompile, and you'll have to for each new color you want. It's a decent bit of work but probably the only way you're going to get it unless you talk to the person who makes it and convince them to make another color for you.

Understood. I was hoping someone could also point out the exact file/apk that I would need to mod and hopefully it would be as easy as doing a replace all for the color code I want to replace... which I see bigfau provided (lidroid apk)
What about the icons in the notification area? Battery, signal strength, and etc?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Your right, no worries.
No, I didn't by chance happen to see bigfau's post before I got mine in, as he beat me to the punch and slipped in while I was typing mine.
Besides, even though he replied just before me, is there a problem with me providing similar information? If anything, two people telling the OP essentially the same thing will further reassure the OP and give him more confidence to try his own hand at theming.
And what does pointing me to his ROM thread have to do with my post? I'm well aware of the development going on for our phones.

So I read here that if you are using a mod to change stuff, you can't further update those same mods from the ROM (which might help explain why I have been unsuccessful). So I went into the "15 Toggle.zip" I am using and tried to swap out some PNGs from the "drawable-hdpi" and got a "Not Implemented" error from 7zip... what's up with that?
Not sure if it matters but the PNG's I am trying to swap are not those 9.PNGs... I can't even open those to see what they look like. Something about unsupported compression method...
I think its because you need to decompile the apks, swap out your images, then recompile. It's what you have to do for standard theming, so it should be the same for what you want to do.

hmmm, read somewhere else you only needed to decompile if you were doing stuff to data, like changing values or code in XML files. There are folders within the apk that I can copy to without problem (although expected changes have yet to take effect). Guess it wouldn't hurt to de/recompile and see what happens.
Something else I noticed is that for the "15 Toggle.zips" that don't change the status bar icons, I can swap the status bar images np. But when I run the .zip in CWM, none of my changes take effect. But if I try to change the status bar icons of a "15 Toggles.zip" that I know changes the status bar icons (like bigfau's green 15 toggle mod), I get the "Not Implemented' error.
While I know swapping using 7zip works for some stuff, you're going to run into trouble with .9's and like you've said, xmls, but if you take the little bit of extra time to just decompile and recompile all of the changes will work. In my opinion, its worth the two extra minutes just to not have to deal with the hassle of guessing if something will work or not.

Thanks For The Instructions
I just want to say thank you to all those who have provided information in this thread. With the guidance given I was able to change the color of the toggles from the available purple/green/cyan to what I wanted a teal green and a white version. I only changed the toggle colors nothing else in the notification icons but I feel awesome about it being my first try at anything like this. Both the teal and white look great! I just extracted the images and recolored with gimp then repacked the zip. So thanks! :good:
Amanda (Pimms)
P.S. If anyone wants the teal or white version PM me and I can send you them!
Edit Battery Color
BlackZenith and I figured out how to change the color of the battery and other icons in the notification bar, you must edit the drawable-xhdpi (note the x :laugh for the images to change from the SystemUI.apk file. Just letting you all know in case you are having trouble with that aspect. I was editing the drawable-hdpi folder at first and when flashed nothing changed.
