Display contrast and ICS 4.03 S7-301uV100R002C233B010 - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Just installed Android4.03 S7-301uV100R002C233B010, and in high res mode i think the contrast on the text etc is too high compared to the last ics 4.0.3 international version.
the high contrast makes the text a little blurry
Anyone installed this version and find the same thing?

This may prove to be a showstopper for me as I only use the tablet in the high res mode.

This phone or X8?

they both have the same price and both are pretty similar. i am wondering which phone can run games better? and how does 256k colors impact picture quality? because x8 xperia has 16mil colors.
well, in terms of games, the X8 has a 1200 mAh battery while the LGOO has 1500 mAh's. thats going to give you some more battery time to play games. and as an owner of the LGOO, i can say that games look fine. even if the X8 has more colors, I dont think you'll see much of a difference if the games arent made to take advantage of the higher color range.
another thing is the X8 uses a skinned version of android while the LGOO has a pretty stock version of 2.2 with most of the original features. if you like time scape, then cool, but i personally dont like it at all.

What drew me to the OO as opposed to the X8 was the amount of RAM: 512MB on the OO vs. 168MB on the X8 and of course Android 2.2 versus 1.6 on the X8.
I've tested phones with higher color screens, but I haven't noticed any real-life difference due to the 256k color limit, neither during gameplay nor during movie/photo viewing.
In the end, they're both budget Android phones so (advanced) gaming simply isn't their forté, but I reckon the OO will do a better job under most circumstances.
thx for replies. just found that OO has some bug where cpu load goes up to 100% when you touch the screen, i wonder will it be fixed or the phone is made to work this way
The problem of CPU load when touch the screen happens with another devices to.
My brother have a Motorola Milestone and the same happens running Android 2.1.
choose LGOO
had the same dilemma last week
I went with optimus
because :
a.)FROYO vs 1.6 in x8 -(2.1 is the latest I heard from SE but still, check web between the difference of 2.1 and 2.2 it's HUGE.
b.)The built is much better for me, more solid, a bit heavier, but it's bec of the more powerful battery(believe me you'll need battery!!!!)
pocket legend works fine on optimus one
os: android 2.2 vs android 1.6
ram: 512mb vs 168mb
battery: 1500mah vs 1200mah
display: 3.2'' vs 3.0''
OO wins
you cant possibly see any difference between 16m color screen and 256k, theyre just nubers to raise the price
the human eye can recognise up to 70k colors as ive heard anyway... so both are above your capabilities ,unless ur some super-eye man
Used X8 for couple of weeks and then got Optimus One and Optimus One is much nicer to use. Its faster and Android 2.2 makes everything smoother to run
OO is better
Of course the OO is better in every range, but I think They're not the same price.
Here in Hungary the OO is almost two times expensive than the X8. It is because service providers haven't sold the OO yet
What about buy this phone form another country? eBay for ex? Or you have bad feel about warranty?

Sadly, it's total bull.
I've seen the (awesome) live background Artemia on better screens (with more colors) and it looks definitely better, less banding and less visible dithering (the colors flow into one another more naturally).
I think Artemia is a quite good way to show off why the OO's screen isn't really good.
Still, I'd vote for this phone. I love how it never runs out of memory (as opposed to the Samsung Galaxy). Plus, it's cheapish

Does the optimus one really have 512 megs of ram?
Why would those useless at LG only put 256 megs of ram into the LG Optimus T (the t-mobile version of the optimus one, identical, except I guess the ram). I have two LG Optimus T phones on the way from ebay (they work with Wind Mobile in Canada) and i'm that the Optimus one has more ram than it does.
T has 512 bro

Ah ya, gsmarena doesn't have the specs listed, and really no where seems to have the ram specs listed for the Optimus T, only the Optimus one.

Difference between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2

I keep reading posters claiming that CleanROM is better than Beans because you get "all the new features" of 4.1.2 android.
After trying both ROMs (they are both awesome) I always end up going back to my red/black themed Beans setup as I like all the Beans custom options that are not available in CleanROM.
My question is however, what features am I missing out on by running 4.1.1 instead of the newer version?? After running them back to back, I could barely remember which was which. The two seemed exactly the same to me, what did I miss here??
Not a whole lot.
Touchwiz sees some minor updates, like autocorrect on the keyboard. Some other things, we already had, like the ink effect on the lockscreen.
As for base Android, nothing you would care about or notice is in 4.1.2. Most users think that a version number higher means its faster, more stable, better on battery life, and many other things.
At the end of the day, its simply not true.
4.1.2 came out when it did (instead of being included in 4.2) because the Nexus 7 required it for the new hardware revision (power management hardware change). It wouldn't run on 4.1.1.
Take a look:

Thanks for the reply, that's exactly what I figured.
I saw no advantage whatever when I tried both versions back to back but I thought maybe I missed something.
I already had an auto-correct KB and 4.1.1 is certainly just as fast/stable etc.
My battery life with beans ROM and the perseus kernel is amazing also.
4.1.2 is faster then 4.1.1 benchmarks proves it
On 4.1.1 on quadrant I'll score like 6100 but on 4.1.2 I'll hit 7000

LOL, exactly.......
I laughed so hard when I saw your reply I almost choked on some ice tea I was drinking!!
So far, it seems to me that the biggest difference is that auto brightness on 4.1.2 is a lot brighter that on 4.1.1. It almost seems to not be working when you come from 4.1.1 because it keeps the screen much brighter on average. So much so that it seems that it isn't auto dimming.

It depends. it is my understanding that auto brightness works differently on 4.1.2 since you can set a "notch" that you want auto brightness to work around. e.g. auto brightness on and set at 100%, auto brightness will either dim slightly under 100 or slightly over 100. while 4.1 uses the intervals between 0-100% and dims accordingly to location. e.g. you are in a dark area, and it sets your brightness at 20% down from 100%.
that is why 4.1.2 seems slightly dimmer, or slightly brighter depending on the situation
to me FW updates mean one of two things, security, feature, or compatibility updates. it doesn't mean it is faster. i also don't see why anyone even cares about quadrant scores after it has been debunked that the paid version gives you +1000 points.
Yeah, that's how it's been explained to me too. It seems from reviews that Samsung cranked up the max brightness as well. I honestly don't like it. It makes the screen burn more power as it's not as flexible. I guess they did this because people have complained about their screens being too dim since the Galaxy Nexus. If I'm in a dark room I need to turn it down to not blind myself, and when I go outside, I have to turn it up to see. Kind of defeats the purpose of auto brightness. I agree, the whole benchmark thing is useless. This phone kicks butt, but there are certain triangle fill tests that it does very poorly on in comparison to other chips. However, it doesn't effect it in game play at all. I'll take that over pretty scores any day.

GTA San Andreas - Low Res

What I'd like to do is to import Low Res models and textures (PC or PS2 eventually) to gain more performance and stability.
Considering the models and textures have been reworked and improved, it's obvious that they require more resources.
I'd rather have a stable framerate and good performance rather than amazing graphics, though I don't like the texture resolution setting in the in-game menu.
Also considering GTA:SA is no longer compatible with Xperia M as of the 1.05 update (even though I played it just fine on earlier versions), I also want to increase performance and stability because there must be a reason why they removed compatibility for a lot of devices.
Has anyone tried this before and what are your experiences? Did it improve your framerate and performance?
I assume what you could do is decompile the apk, batch resize all the textures to a smaller size. Never tried it but it should work.
Isnt that exactly what the Resolution setting does?
Anyone has an idea? I read that the SA Mobile 3D Models are built differently than the PC Versions 3D models, so importing them would not (should not) work.
Any other sollutions?

[Q] lag on lolipop ?

Just updated my tablet to lolipop yesterday and there're lags with nova launcher as well as facebook and gmail . did anyone else experience the same thing with me ? I would be grateful if someone can show me how to fix it. Thanks a lot
Maybe switching off Adaptive brightness will help
I also have the problem, even sometime very slow to silde the surface, sometime very smooth , i like android 4.4 more than 5.0 lollipop , because is stable
Mine is very smooth. I did clean install but apps restored using titanium backup
Sent from my SGP621 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes I have the same issue.
The version is currently 23.1.A.0.726, sometimes it's butter-smooth, but for other times it's laggy even if you just flip around your homescreen and settings.
Set brightness to ghe low level wil help, yes, it did, thank you,but why ? My tablet is no longer smart =_=
It always had this problem, even on kitkat. I partially solved it by installing lux auto brightness from play store, but it's still not entirely fixed. These Sony devs are really blind, 2 lollipop updates since then and haven't done anything about it.
I received my tab today and decided to update to lollipop. At first I noticed lots of lag and dropped frames. I then put it on charge and noticed that it was buttery smooth. Since taking it off charge it's still buttery smooth. Not sure what I did, but am a lot happier now. I just hope it lasts.
Update...
Have now realised what causes the dropped frames. Its when you have the brightness set too High!! The brightness seems to throttle the processor. Bit stupid if you ask me. Luckily I usually have my brightness set about 50 to 60%. I hope Sony fix this.

Have the same issue, took a while to find the cause.
I'm still on 23.1.A.0.690.
Does anybody already have 23.1.A.1.28 and does still have this issue?
Some guys in a German board say they do not see any difference in low and high brightness and I think they have the newer version...

Hmm, I didn't use my tablet much until recently but I did notice some stuttering while moving around if screen was really bright (on 23.1.A.0.690).
I do not notice the same stuttering on 23.1.A.1.28, actually it seems as fluid on maximum brightness as it does on minimum.

Mines definitely stutters on 23.1.A1.28 when brightness is over 50%. Still faster than my old Samsung galaxy tab s.
Just checked another device in a local "MediaMarkt" store.
It was running on 23.1.A.1.28 and also had this lag - it was really terrible... When I covered the bightness sensor, it started to fly.
This is ridiculous... I hope Sony will fix this in 5.1.
On a side note, mine has a rainbow effect when looking straight at the screen, which is disturbing when reading web pages. The demo device in the store had exactly the same effect - so I'll have to send it back.
Sigh, that was such a great device, but these two issues are a killer for me

[Q] I need some opinions

If someone have SM-G850F (Samsung Galaxy Alpha). He can write me his opinion about this phone. He's look gorgeous, and performance look fine for me. But all experiance and opinions are welcome. And i really care about battery life. Its only just 1860 mAh. Is that's okay ?
I'm one of standard user's (just texting and calls, facebook and whats'app ) . Is this will be enough for me ?
Thanks.
Sorry if my English poor.
Buy another spare battery its removable.
According to GSMarena galaxy alpha had 52hours endurance rating so if you have two batteries then a total of 104hours hehe!
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_alpha-review-1118p3.php
I bought this spare battery charger so I can charge my spare back up battery
Performance is excellent I think on par or in between Snapdragon 808 and 810
Thanks to 720p resolution the GPU can load faster graphics compare to heavy 1080p to 4k resolutions, besides its a compact 4.7 inch device so there's no problem even not full HD.
As of today there's no huge difference when you play a game on a 4k resolution or 720p resolution
Clickme
Execept in terms of speed, huge resolutions needs a powerful GPU to render those graphics well while 720p resolutions like Galaxy Alpha (see attachments) can render faster graphics much smoother.
4k resolutions = same visuals(720p) but less FPS
720p resolutions = same visuals(4k) but much faster FPS
So which do you prefer?
I like compact a phone, easy to handle and to operate and of course not eye catching especially in public places.
