Hello, I'm glad to announce my next free application for WP7, the SilverDict.
SilverDict is a offline dictionary application, compatible with famous StarDict program by dictionaries format. Application is very fast, simple and reliable. You don't need to switch languages, SilverDict is using all installed and enabled dictionaries to search the words.
On the first run, application will offer you to download and install dictionaries from online repository (based on free XDXF dictionary collection http://sourceforge.net/projects/xdxf/files/ ) or your own dictionaries from cloud stores (SkyDrive or DropBox).
Dictionary file archive for download and install should be:
in StarDict format (i.e. have *.idx, *.ifo, *.dict.dz or *.dict, optional *.syn files; also optional resource (images) directory;
dictionary archive should be zipped (has *.zip extension) or in Unix-style compressed tarball format .tar.bz2 in one file. For *.zip archive you may try to archive more then one dictionary;
Of course, for downloading dictionaries you should have your Internet connection enabled (for download only, SilverDict does not required Internet connection)
Please, be patient: dictionary installation requires some time (depending from dictionary size).
I don't recommend you to install too many dictionaries; BTW, SilverDict can display up to 8 dictionaries simultaneously.
I'll be glad to hear your impressions, suggestions and feature requests here! Happy searching!

SilveDict+ (no ads): store link
version 1.8: fixed bugs; added SD card support (WP8 only);
Please note: zip archive extension (.zip) is reserved for system; you should change '.zip' extension to the '.zip.dic' first.
version 1.7: fixed various bugs; improved stability; added ""Rate My App"" control.
version 1.6: added Live tiles support; now you may pin article to the start screen; Windows Phone 8 support; added ""silverdict"" protocol for WP8; third-party developers now can use 'SilverDict' as an add-on dictionary; fixed various bugs.
version 1.5: custom color themes, independent from the system theme; "Favorites" tab (please enable in the "settings"); ability to swap languages in "Dictionary manager" by flick gesture; fixed various bugs, improved overall application stability;
version 1.4: added input box with history; fixed various bugs;
version 1.3: improved umlaut diacritic support; improved dictionaries order handling; fixed various bugs;
version 1.2: fixed online repository access
version 1.1: fixed bugs with DropBox login, and saving input text
version 1.0: initial release

By far, Silverdict is the best looking dict app I've tried, WP7 or Android. The design is clean, polished and intuitive.
The "tab" design is a very useful idea (2nd picture OP). I usually use 3 portuguese dicts on Fora Dictionary (Android app). When I begin to write a word on it, various suggestions appear (of all 3 dicts). In Silverdict it's a little bit different, it's more individualized: you write a word on textbox and the results aren't displayed all together, but in each dict's tab. It seemed to me as a flaw at first, but now I really like your design option sensboston.
EDIT: after playing a little bit more with SilverDict, I find to feel that it would be more intituitive if when I tap a word all dicts display it's meaning. As it is now, each time I select a tab I have to tap on the word to display it's meaning, even if I have tapped it before.
Fora Dictionary has a start scanner function. When activated, if you copy a word on browser or an e-book reader app, it automaticly opens dict app and displays the word's meaning. It's a superb feature, but due to WP7 limitations it will probably be hard to achieve. Besides, WP7 e-book readers I've tried don't have the option to copy a word (can't understand why).
EDIT: with Freda e-book reader, with a 2-step procedure, it's possible to copy a word. Start scanner would be a nice implementation in Silverdict, if possible of course.
Skyfire works great, but I'm having an issue with dropbox. I added my account and it opened dropbox page on browser. Due to "not having jave script" my folders weren't displayed.

Thanks for your review and comments!
As for design: I never tried Fora Dictionary but a long time customer of the ABBYY Lingvo dictionary (IMHO, the best dictionary profuct for Windows). SilverDict is copying Lingvo's UI: you have a list of found words (with variants) and you have to click word to display explanation. I thought, dictionary separation by tabs will be more intuitive to end-user; but I can try to implement tab-less, merged list.
As for DropBox: it's a strange. I've switched app to production state (it takes some time) at DropBox devs site, but it still works fine for me: on my Focus or on emulator. Tomorrow I'll try (at work) on the other different handsets. Will be good if someone else can test that functionality too.

Silverdict works great the way it is so don't get into to much work. It was just a remark I made and it's nice to have an app with a different approach. To be honest, each time I use it, the more I like how it works.
Just a small remark: on settings, there's an option to enable/disable save last input, but it doesn't seem to work. I have it disabled, but each time I start Silverdict the last word I typed remains on search box.
And about "detect copied word" function, is it possible to implement?

Yeah, I already figured out this bug. I'll fix it in the next release.
As for your request: unfortunately it's not possible because of Microsoft limitations http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms589129(v=VS.96).aspx
I don't understand why, truly... Seems like they are too scared because of xda whitehats hacks and don't have enough facilities for proper testing

Unfortunately, I expected that... bah!

Looks very promising. I'll definitely give it a try once it hits the marketplace.

Just forgot to ask: if you have free dictionaries (under free license or without licences) that isn't in the repository, and you want to share 'em with others, please let me know.

[UPDATE] new version (1.1) of SilverDict uploaded, two significant bugs, with DropBox and cleaning input box are fixed . Big thanks to myself11 for testing!

Has Silverdict been already approved on Marketplace? Can't find it yet.
There sould be an Android version Now when I go back to ICS, dict apps seem ugly and less pratical.

Today MS approved ver 1.2 (with latest bugfixes), should be available in 12+ hours.

It's online!

Can you explain a bit about Skydrive and dropbox Integration ? What is that being used for ?

Yes, sure! For SkyDrive access I'm using standard Microsoft component from Live SDK (you can find my working example source here, on xda). For the DropBox I've used DropNet, https://github.com/dkarzon/DropNet.

P.S. I mean this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529197

It's for the user to be able to add his own stardict dictionaries to Silverdict. If you have none or simply are happy with those available online, there's no need to sync with Skydrive or Dropbox. In my case, it's very useful since I have gathered stardict dictionaries that are not available online.

He-he, I recognized this question as a developer's question Yep, myself11 is absolutely right: using cloud storage you can easily install your own dictionaries.
Technically there are lot of various dictionaries, available on internet; most of 'em can be converted to StarDict format (I don't have enough time to collect 'em all!) Another issue is a right owners... So, SilverDict just provide flexibility.

i would prefer a table containing the string and the translation. just like LEO-dictionary. but the offline support & diversity of dictonarys are quite good!

roqstr, SilverDict is a dictionary, not a translator. Offline sentences translation is a very complex task and can't be easy done on the handset (it's requires a huge database - for example, how Google's translations works). By the way, what LEO-dictionary you are talking about? Just checked Android app called "LEO dictionary" - it's works the same way as a SilverDict but online only and without SilverDict's advantages.

That app is just great. Thanks.
I have recognized searching for special charaters as the first one in the word does not deliver a result, e.g. Öl, árbol ...
Am I missing something?
Thanks ...

[APP][Manila2D NEW Weather] MeteoRay AW v1.2

This version of Meteoray has been totally rewritten from the start, this done so that finally a weather tab worthy of its name is available also for Manila2D, with automatic offline hourly updates.
No comparison in our opinion, to the ineffective and statics forecasts that this interface has as standard. No necessary patch for Manila, no altered dll , no external server dedicated.
Very easy to use; It is possibile to easily obtain the forecasts for any location present in the database of Accuweather (over 2.7 million locations). This version is aided by the weather forecasts of "Accuweather.com", elaborating the data which is freely available on the internet enabling it to be shown correctly in the weather tab.
MeteoRay is "Donationware", therefore you are totally free to say a simple "thankyou" or to make a donation to the programmers (My daughter and myself) to add an incentive for further development, correction of bugs, release of new projects.
It is our intention, within the shortest possible time (considering that programming for us isn’t a profession but a passion) to expand the program with new features making it along the same lines as the Italian version shown here:
http://meteoray.mondoweb.net/topic779.html

}
Installation
It couldn’t be any easier: Just open up the zip file and copy the obtained folders wherever you want to. Preferably, but not absolutely necessary, copy them to the internal memory of the pda due to the slightly slower start up time of external memories such as SD, miniSD or Micro SD. Wherever the folders are placed the software will autodetect the paths needed and will act accordingly.
Requirements
Manila2D interface working normally (obviously) and the presence on the PPC of .Net Framework (freely downloadable from the Microsoft website however present in most of the cooked roms). Put in a number of locations inferior or the same as those set up before hand on your Manila2D interface, up to a total of no more than 5 on MeteoRay. The locations chosen in Manila2d can be any provided; It will be MeteoRays job to change them into the locations you have chosen for the software If for example you wish to choose 5 locations in MeteoRay you must first put 5 or more in Manila2D before updating.
Options description
A few options to simplify the use ,from top to bottom:
- ACCUWEATHER LOGO Opens Opera (if present) or Pocket Internet Explorer on the www.accuweather.com homepage
- ENGLISH/METRIC with this switch you are able to download the data directly in Fahrenheit or Celsius, this way you will avoid the bug present in Manila2D relating to the conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius (not very accurate)
- BOX for CHOICE OF LOCATION put in a number of locations inferior or the same as those set up before hand on your Manila2D interface, up to a total of no more than 5 on MeteoRay. The real difference being that you are able to choose your own. The code that you must put in is that used at Accuweather.com; at the first start up of the software it will show 5 pre-programmed locations in the UK to use as an example.
- "EXPLORER ICONS" each of them opens the corresponding page of Weather Forecast AccuWeather (online)
- UPDATE use this for normal updates of the weather forecast. The forecasts downloaded will be for 3 days, and for 3 days the software will work offline putting the necessary weather icons in the correct place in the Manila2D. To reset the update interval, just do a normal Manila2D update before downloading the forecasts with MeteoRay. However, the Manila2D normally does this operation when the PPC is connected to the PC using Activesync
- >> use this to move over the screen of advanced options.. Also using the key << you can return the to first page. The advanced options aloe the selection and the download of the Satellite Animations from the whole world in .gif format. They will be saved in the directory "Meteo" and can be visualised using your preferred programme
- EXIT does this need explaining?
- INFO Information about this software.
Normal use
Meteoray downloads the necessary data to enable it to work correctly through any working connection on your PPC. Needless to say that it is ideal to update using "free connections" such as WI-FI, Bluetooth or Activesync. The data shown is that relative to the next 5 hourly steps (for example, if it is 21.12, Meteoray will show the forecast for 22.00 in large numbers and in small numbers it will show the forecasts for 23:00, 00:00. 01:00, 02:00) The second temperature in the small icons at the bottom is the "Realfeel" (the temperature that is actually felt by the human body depending on the wind, humidity etc).
Removal
Very easy : just remove the folder containing the software. On reaching the first hourly step you will get an error (then there will be others; basically the PPC is trying to use the software that has been removed)
For those who really want to remove all: you could remove the whole key "MeteoRay" from "HKCU - Software" to eliminate any trace of use from the registry, the file "MeteoRay.png" from the directory "\Windows" and you have finished. The others can leave everything as it is, it takes up just a very few Kb of space and there are no further consequences.
What is and isn’t allowed
You are free to include the links to the MeteoRay Forum to enable the download of the installation file, but Not allowed to enable those files to be directly downloaded from your Website, Blog, ftp etc...
For a very simple reason: To make it easier for the user during the update. To have on the web various versions, obsolete, incomplete or bugged won’t help you, in fact it will do the complete opposite .You are also allowed to include the software as it is , (without making any changes to it), to your own personalised roms. Just one suggestion, do it in such a way to allow the files to be overwritten to simplify any eventual updates.
Final notes
Unfortunately our English isn’t the best; this page has been translated for us, but our future replies won’t always be as grammatically correct. We are counting on the "XDA-Dev Power Users" for the most obvious replies to be given to the less knowledgeable Users. Thankyou in advance for your cooperation.
Important
At the moment it is only possibile to use MeteoRay with locations in your own time zone; after receiving your feedback and views about this present version we will further rewrite the software routines to eliminate this annoying limitation. This will allow MeteoRay to be able to easily visualise also the time in different time zones, therefore working as a mini-time converter (useful for those who travel or even just for curiosity).
If you are satisfied with the work that has been carried out up to now, you could offer us a pizza or a beer...
Enjoy it, Davide & Federica Ippolito

ok thanks great app i thought i was doing something wrong
Thanks for your consideration.
I could also implement an internal viewer (and probably I will do in the future), when I'm working on offline html report summarizing the Weather Forecast in table like this:
Great i look forward to using future versions and a lookaround your forum thanks
Interesting Man.
Will try asap. Thanks a lot.
Please enjoy

Thanks, my friend! If this topic will be followed with interest, even this version will have soon the same features of the Italian...
At this moment has already been downloaded 58 times and this topic 815 read... any comment? Some impression of use?
Really cool app!!
If you can implement summarization, it would be outstanding. Or you can give options to set offline update steps to more then 1 hour. for having, like half day review
Thanks for your comment, cadac.
I can certainly implement summarizations and more, but before I continue working on I would understand if it can affect the Users.
And 'I will improve the graphics but, I repeat, is important for me read your impressions of actual use.
Problem whn pressing "update"
I have an HTC Touch Viva with Manila2D v.3.0 build 31508. I have put "MeteoRay AW 1.2" in the Program Files folder.
I get two basic4ppc errors when pressing "Update": "__main_aggmeteo" and "__main_assegnadati".
Check your internet connection.
It is not yet optimized handling errors, but the messages you read are due to a failure to update.
PS - 158 downloads at this moment, no others comments or suggestions?
How do I get this to work with US locations? Especially the ones not in the default Manilla 2D weather database.
Thanks

[APP] sneakText 1.0 - encrypt/decrypt any simple text message for any purpose

A little tool I wrote for WinMo 5 and up. Uses a custom built alphanumeric text cipher to secure just about any text-related operations you can think of. Enter a message in the interface, followed by a codeword, select 'sneak' or 'unsneak', and hit 'do it'. The app will then either securely encrypt the message, or decrypt it. Maybe good for those couples who both use WinMo
Tech note: Requires .NET CF 2.0 or later
EULA note: Use of this app is subject to an EULA located here. The basic points are:

NEW: An iPhone version has been released on the App Store for 99 cents - if you like the work I do here, feel free to purchase a copy on iTunes for either you or your friend... now your iPhone-using friends and colleagues can join in the fun too! Get it here at http://itunes.com/app/sneaktext
Edit: WOW this has been awesome! Got probably 100+ downloads on this within 2 days, so glad you seem to like it so much
If you want, feel free to post any success-stories or reviews in this thread, I wanna know how you guys are using it and what you think, whether I could improve it or what features I could add/remove... if you want of course
And again, totally optional, but this would be awesomely helpful if you could (my Wizard is really starting to perform its death-rattle now, battery's starting to screw up), please donate and help me on my way to a Touch HD so I can keep on writing apps for you guys, maybe even learn to cook and push a few ROMs out
YAEdit: Doesn't seem like I can embed a button that easy, so if anyone is interested in donating, PM me and I'll give you my paypal details
New version uploaded today (11/29/2009), same version number because it's a bugfix/minor change
Changes:
- Removed 'help' menu and replaced with 'edit' (about button is now in functions menu)
- Added 'edit' menu which enables you to copy from and paste to the 'message' field. You still need to type your key, but IMO that's good practice...keeps the keys memorabl
I changed the attachment in the first post to point to the latest version, so you can download it exactly the same
If you have any suggestions on what I could do to improve the app, let me know in this thread

LtBrenton, sorry for the dumb question but how do I sent the encrypted message via text. What is the procedure? do I copy and paste or is stored in a folder somewhere?
Hey, just copy and paste the resultant ciphertext into a new SMS. Remember the receiving party also needs to have a copy of the app and know your codeword they then paste it into the app and decode it

Great app!
Is there a way to implement copy/paste withing the app, by tapping & holding? On my touch pro i need to use the keyboard to ctrl+c/v to copy/paste the text, but on my HD I can't copy paste text at all.
Other than that great work!
hey, on the HD for now you'll need to use the windows SIP ctrl+c/ctrl+v. I wasn't aware the tap/hold menu didn't work. I'll get this fixed in the next release as soon as my ISP stops dicking around with the 3G node...mobile lines suck when they're your main link
Update, it's fixed and the binary's been built. Unfortunately got no way to upload it for now but it's coming VERY soon

- Added 'edit' menu which enables you to copy from and paste to the 'message' field. You still need to type your key, but IMO that's good practice...keeps the keys memorable
OK, fixed version is now downloadable from the first post in this thread Have fun
Out of interest, would anybody be interested in a "Secure-XDA" ROM consisting of a pile of crypto tools bundled? I was thinking of something like the following:
- sneakText installed by default
- Notes replaced by encrypted version
- Lockscreen replaced with a PIN/password prompt, which can have configurable 'consequences' for bad entries (such as forensic-wipe of certain files, SMS alert to configurable number, or in an extreme case, forensic wipe -> hard-reset)
- Built-in support for file/email encryption with PGP or similar
- other similar features
- Cool 'secret agent' theme
Any thoughts?
i will try and get a video of the app this weekend ..
Sweet, thanks for that man Looking forward to it

[APP] < CarPal > Monitor maintenance for several cars with autoreminders | v0.91 beta

[APP] < CarPal > Monitor maintenance for several cars with autoreminders | v0.91 beta
UPDATE April 4: I decided to stop the development for the WM OS. I sold my WM phones and switched over to Android (N1). I'll continue working on this app for that OS. Sorry to whoever was waiting for updates for WM, and a HUGE "thank you" to guys who provided feedback/requests for features.
The whole idea was to create a modernly-designed application for my Rhodium that would keep track of different maintenance tasks for my car. What makes this app different from the others is that you set how many miles you drive per day (on the average we drive same amount, give or take), that will allow the App to "predict" what your car's odometer shows. Based on that (+ depending on how many days ahead you want the reminder to be) it will throw a reminder telling you about that particular task.
Currently, the project in is beta. It's fully usable, but not yet as easy/convenient/cool as I want it to be. Of course, I expect there to be bugs, but mostly visual, non-critical stuff that I'm still working on. For curious minds, data is stored in CarPalData.xml in the working folder, unencrypted. I decided to keep it that way for easy access and modification.
If anybody wants to tinker with this on his/her own, lemme know, I'll make it open-source.
Update Feb 26: Sorry guys, got a real big project at work right now, no time for on-the-side development... Should free up next week or so, I definitelly want to add some cool new features to CarPal. Thanks for all the feedback - I'll use it to prioritize the new features. Most likely expect the bike support, gas usage/stats and Dutch/Spanish/Italian languages in next release. Hang tight =)
Please send me your translations!
To translate the app, follow these simple steps:
1. Install the app.
2. Go to \Device\Program Files\CarPal\ and grab the CarPalTranslations.xml file from there.
3. Inside the file, duplicate the "English" node, and rename it to your language name.
4. Translate all the strings in your new node, just make sure you keep the node names intact, only rename the contents of the "string" attribute.
5. Send me your file and you'll see your language in the new release!
Features:
Works with any "decent" resolution (Q|VGA, W|VGA, landscape + portrait).
Wizard-based data entry
High-contrast design to be easily visible outside
Keep track of multiple cars in the same app
Create multiple tasks for every car
Automatic reminders based on how many miles you drive per day on average
Add additional details to your tasks, like locations, owners, etc.
New in version 0.91b:
Multi-language support. Comes with English and Russian by default. Very easy XML translation, contact me if you wanna translate it.
New item in settings - can switch languages from there.

Still being worked on:
If you hide the app instead of exiting, it will hide too damn well. hard to bring it back up.
Some visual bugs
Get rid of that horrible icon.
Integrating reminders into system reminders
Testing how well the app behaves when it's hidden (running in the background)
Improving interface to be more clear as to where user is at, etc
Non-touchscreen device support. So far app relies on users tapping on buttons.
Add csv importing funtions
Some easy method of translating interface to diff. languages
Other things on my list...
I'd love some feedback, if you tried it - let me know how it worked for you, and what are your thoughts.
And remember - I keep all data in a separate xml file, so you won't lose any data as the app is updated. So feel free to enter your stuff into the app, just backup the CarPalData.xml as needed.

Excellent point, and an obvious one too.. how could I miss it
While I'm adding that to settings, you can still use it fine, numbers are numbers, there's nothing in the functionality that would "care" if it's in actual miles, kilometers or millimeters =)
I'll add that setting today/tomorrow.

Shouldn't be too hard, can you upload an example csv? Hopefully with title row, so I know what's what =)

Would be nice to be able to do an exchange in both tools!
New version - 0.91beta:
Multi-language support. Comes with English and Russian by default.
New item in settings - can switch languages from there.
If you want to translate it, let me know so I can add your language to the install package.
Translation is very easy - install the CAB, then get the CarPalTranslation.xml file from the install directory.
In there, just create a new "Language" node, copy/paste any existing language, and modify the strings. You can test it right there, just launch the App, go to settings, and switch to your language. Remember that app-restart is required.
More stuff is coming in the next version...
very, very interesting! this would be a very useful app. i'm looking forward to it. i am also for a list of regular maintenance that can be ticked for each car, e.g. oil change, tire rotation, wheel alignment, etc., and reminds you of it based on the set mileage, let's say, every 3,000 miles.

At this time you can do all of that, except for creating one task for several cars at the same time. I'm still working on that.
If you have just 1 car, that won't really make a difference for you, so you're good to go. For several cars, I'm working on creating a nice table that will let you handle all of them easily and at the same time.
Give it a nice test run and let me know if it works for ya =)
P.S: table functionality is coming next week, most likely.
Thanks=)
Looking forward to try this out.
looks nice
requests (if you please):
- different background (I for one use this for my motorcycle, not car)... if you can't allow us to choose background then at least give two options: (1) MY bike (a BMW R1200GS) (2) a plain background (maybe the popular carbon fiber one)
- ability to import CSV
that's all before I even try it more after I do

Made a Dutch translation for you, but can't get it work. I'm sure you wil fix it.I overwrote the English text in the editor and after that I saved the file again. I do not know what I've done wrongI hope you can add it soon! Could not upload the xml.file, so i did it in text format
TATAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, it works great now!
I add the English file again and now it works
I also commended alongside a few comments or suggestions. Obviously intended positive
- ability to add dealer or servicepoint, contactperson, adres etc.(maybe dealerlogo) or linked with a Pocket Outlook Contact.
- larger field for notes, more information about task/service
- more matching fontsize in userinterface and textinput fields.
Userinterface is a bit to small, text input to big in my opinion.
- task/service planning also possible with scheduling (pocket agenda), not only by km or miles(Most services are km based but also time based)Sound Alerts can also be planned with the Agenda alarmfunction.
- background change or switch for each car or motorcycle(more evident). At aglance you can see more quickly which car ot motorcycle is meant for a service.
- creating a masterlist for service or maintenance with checkbox option.
So that you can create a todo-list from that masterlist for each service, car or motorcycle.
Succes with development!
ok tried it - seems it is missing the most important feature for me - fuel and fuel statistics
anyway keep up the good work, I'll check it out from time to time
nice app... will definitely give it a try...: )
does this app require the GPS to be turned on all the time or do you periodically update the distance travelled?

+ Added new awesome application icon for Anuvadak - Many thanks to tnyynt
+ Added support to show all indic and Asian languages. Shown in the video
The last enhancement was difficult to add but it happened.
There is a trick to it.
Anuvadak now uses Arial Unicode MS font to show all languages. Unfortunately I cannot pack the font with the application as it would be illegal. Also the font file is around 28 MB. But no problem.
The font is packed with all the versions of Microsoft office 2007 onwards. It is located in Windows> Fonts directory by name Arial Unicode MS. Download the font from the windows (PC) directory and copy it your windows phone > Windows > Fonts directory. Install the app, Restart the phone and bingo!! all languages show up now
For people who don't have access to Arial Font, I am attaching a another Unicode font (free). Download that font and repeat the copying instructions as above and it should show up nicely. One thing to remember, when using the alternate font remember to change settings from the application menu to choose Bitstream cyberbit.
The drawback of using this (Bitstream cyberbit) font is that it doesn't show every character in every language. Some characters from Arabic, Persian and Chinese are missing. Hindi is completely missing.
If anybody has any problem, let me know and I will try to help you as much as I can.

amazing app..will add a video for it soon..
Many Thanks!
Works great on my HD2. A quick comment, however:
I normally use Google translator for looking up how to say Chinese phrases. And, of course, Chinese uses a character system. While the characters show up just fine in the app, I do not have the option to view the Romanization of the characters (how they would be pronounced), though this is offered on Google's website.
Any plans to implement this?
Edit: Nevermind, Romanization is evidently supported, I guess Chinese just isn't working for it.
Other than that, beautiful app, defiantly keeping it on my must-have list.
Thanks guys for your comments....
Let me know the bugs, features wanted.. and I will update it.
Now working on Speech to text... might take some time.. so hang on

... Some kind of app memory. It's a li'l tedious to have to choose your langs on every launch. Maybe a config file in the app dir, or a few reg entries.
And, by "Speech to text" do you mean speech recognition? 'Cause, that'd be purrty *****in'.
Thanks!!

Sure.. next minor release will see your suggestion .. (i dont know how I missed that lol )
And yeah you guessed it right ... speech recognition !!!! its the next big thing I am working on ...
This app is great i just tried it and it worked perfectly!
This is probably a little bit off topic... but The onscreen keyboard you have in the screen shots looks amazing. Where can i find that skin if you dont mind me asking?
This app is really fantastic. And so useful.
The UI is nice. Text to Speech (or speech recognition) is a great feature and works very well with respect to the main languages (French, English, Italian, etc.)
Ability to copy and send via SMS is cool also.
So.... Thank you very much
Some things could maybe be improved:
- Could you kindly add the ability to PASTE some selected text in order to translate it.
This would be an important and useful feature. For instance if ever you wanted to translate part of a sentence taken from a webpage...
- Improve the icon of the app.
- It seems that some special characters are not supported for some languages (e.g. Vietnamese, Japanese, Greek).
- Memorize the last selected languages once you exit the soft (instead of English/Spanish by default)
- Ability to send via Email also?
ehy man, amazing app! thank you so much!
thanks a lot for this app !!!
can't download...
it just keeps telling me to wait at the download page. could you upload the cab here?
Wow! This program is genial and single in pocketpc.
Sorry for my english.
Very nice program. I wonder if it is possible to split chinese into mandarin and cantonese.
Very nice program. Thank you a lot.
How to save settings (Enable Instant Translation, Languages, ...)?
Thanks so much for such a lovely app!
This app is great but it doesn't load proprtly on my i900 - WQVGA
the X buttom is very big ..needs some tweeking
Fine tuning needed for black theme
Great apps. Thanks.
Too bad it does not play well with black theme (white text on black background).
Feature "Romanisation" is disabled. Is it bug?

Description
Quick Links are okay, but you can not have a quicklink for everything. Or are you just conservative and want to have a launching tool on your PPC? WiMoRun enables you to run programs typing in their name or a keyword. You can start all executable applications within the whole device. With the T9 panel you can choose your apps even faster.
It runs on Windows Mobile > 6.0
If you have ideas to improve this app just let me know.
Features
- run programs by typing their names
- tag programs to get an alias i.e. calc will open favourite calculator
- autocomplete list in realtime
- application cache to boost speed
- T9 input panel for faster searching
- skinnable UI
History & Changelog
Code:
v0.7a (VGA only, Non VGA is WIP)
- crash problem after generating cache is resolved.
- added an application icon, thanks to Farmer Ted
v0.7 (VGA only, Non VGA is WIP)
- added support for skinning, custom skin tutorial soon
- changed autocomplete. you need to specify at least 2 chars for autocomplete
to work (for increasing speed)
v0.6
- added a T9 panel
v0.5a
- fixed a bug that caused tags not to work after adding support for every path
v0.5
- greatly increased startup speed using a cache
- users are now able to run any exe in any path of the filesystem
v0.4
- improved autocompletion with suggestion list
- added keyword/tag handling
- substituted buttons with softkey links
v0.2
- simple error handling if file not found
- larger controls for finger usage (still not nice looking)
- dropdown list of available programs
- autocompletion
v0.1
- basic functionality, run programs by typing their names
Not yet implemented
- a recently launched list
- support for command line options
- opening contacts
Installation and use
After installing cab choose Run from the Programs list.
Feedback
Feedback and reporting are desired, new feature requests, too.
I'd say it would be useful, especially if you save a list of recent applications, which is missing in 6.5. Dotfred's task manager has a run tool, and I use it all the time (it saves mru's).
I think with the Auto-Complete feature this app will be a time-saver, specially when you want to run or open something from Windows folder (you have scroll a long list to find what you want).
Thanks for your efforts!
Version 0.2 is online.
Improvements are a finger friendlier control-size and an autocomplete feature.
I like this app idea a lot.
Here are my suggestions:
- As you type, it presents a filtered list (filtering in real time) all the apps that fits the match as you type. Then you can just type the first few letters and select the app. Think of how Windows 7's start menu works. You start typing and it immediately gives you matches and gradually filters the list down as you type.
- A custom T-9 input panel, which can work with the above filtering feature as a more finger friendly alternative. It would work exactly as the dialer's numerical pad does to filter out your contacts by the letters associated with each number.
- Custom keywords for apps. Basically you can associate keywords with apps. So let's say you use Pocket Informant as you calendar app, but you just want to type 'calendar', you can associate it and it will launch it.

Genius idea!!!
Thanks for fast update!
I try it now.
Great application, really useful! Looking forward to updates.
Great Idea, could better
Hi i like the idea,
Autocomplete in this form is nice but imho its not practical enough, i still have to know the exact name of the app.
Have a look at "lauchy"for the pc, when you type it lists all applications that have the letters in them you type, regardless of the position.
So if you type "expl" you would get a list with "explorer" and "file explorer".
Cheers Marco
Thanks for your first feedbacks.
I will try to improve autocomplete and give a list of programs to chose matching the criteria. I also like the idea to tag programs. A T9-like input panel will also be on my list.
Very good idea but not a new one. This is basically a launcher program. Everyone, check out ZLaunchy program, it has t9 keypad and runs programs, contacts, docs, etc. I have assigned it to a hard button.
ZLaunchies Description says it only uses the programs in the start menu. WiMoRun is designed especially for those programs you might not have in a quick link program. running docs, contacts or other stuff may be integrated, too here
This is off topic and I apologize for that.
the pictures in the first post have fingerkeyboard2 with wider keys than the default one. I have been searching and trying to understand how to install a fingerkeyboard skin with wider keys (the default fingerkeyboard2 are smaller than the stock HTC HD2 keys).
Again, I apologies for this off topic remark, but this is the first time I found someone that has an example of what I have been looking for in a long time... and I have searched the forum.
@davidshooki
Please use private message instead. if you write me your email I can give you the CAB I use
[End of Off Topic]
@topic
Version 0.4 is out now. I integrated an autocomplete list substituting the one line autocompletion. Buttons are now replaced with softkeys. The program is also able to save tags/keywords now. If you type in the keyword, the linked application is opened.
a T9 panel is not yet implemented, I think that needs a little time.

Yes you're right.
but zlaunchy has a variety of features which your app should have as well(search via t9, search in contacts etc.).
zlaunchy is a great model for for winmorun since it's so lookalike.
As I remembered there was a win mobile smartphone app that had a lot of functions.
looked for files, sms, programs, contacts, it even calculated a formula if you inserted numbers(ex. you inserted 2+2 and it returned 4 on the result list)
I lost that app when I changed to winmo pro since it was shipped only with that phone model.
It was called VOQ from the sierra wireless VOQ phone.
Version 0.5 posted.
Now all executable files are held in this list. It doesn't matter if it's in the Windows or Programs directory.
To avoid long startup times the program generates an application cache. It can be renewed out of the options menu.
have fun
edit:
just fixed a bug and promoted it to 0.5a

version 0.7 is out now, but only for VGA. graphics scaling for lowres devices does not work the way I want it to. Maybe I'll find some nicer controlls, too.
custom skinning will be available in one of the next versions
Nice job! Here's an ico group, if you want it. It looks pretty good in the start menu (it's just hacked from shell32.dll).
