[Q] I need your help smart people, I messed up big time - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So....I wanted to un root and and return my prime back to stock so I did the dumb thing by un rooting my prime and then doing a factory reset from the settings menu.
Now when I rebot my prime it keeps coming back to CWM and I can't get it to flash my recovery, though I know why. Its the recovery of a custom rom, a rom that needed to have the prime rooted.
Another ****ty thing is that I can't get my computer to recognize the prime. I see it in my device manager, but I can't get the USB drivers to install. I was hoping to use my micro sd card and install the stock rom, but I can't seem to find it when I look for it in CWM. I really need your help folks and I hope that some of you really smart people can help me.
Thanks
Kyle

Easy, Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088 and follow Brick 1a... Next time search the forums before you post.

Sorry to be a pain, but i did all of that. What I am having trouble doing is setting up the adb, (I have watched all the youtube vids and forum post I can find) I can't get my computer to link with my prime. I have watched every video and read as much as I can, but can't see to get drivers installed.
I can tried USBDreview, following every step on every forum I can find. When I go to device manager it says "transformer" with a yellow !, but I can't get any type of driver to work.
Trust I am not trying to be a pain, but I have google and read a ton, I just can't figure it out.

download and install the android sdk.

DID that, but some I go to the command prompt it wont find any devices and I have tried and tried to get the right drivers. I just can't get it installed. Right now I am trying to figure out Universal Naked Driver Beta 0.6.2 on how to install it to see that will work.
I will keep trying

Ok the Naked Driver worked, well I think it did.....in my device manager its now saying Asus Transformer Prime ADB Interface.....I am now starting from the begining with ADB.
I am sure I will have more questions please post if you have any tips or suggestions
and THANK YOU again.

[Q] Windows 7 will not pick up SGSII in USB Debugging Mode (Will not root as well)

I just bought my new Galaxy SII for a penny. Great deal, and spectacular phone. Happens to be my first android phone as well (been waiting for one for years). The only problem i am having is when I put the phone in USB debugging the computer won't pick it up in explorer. If I enable USB mode I can copy files, but I cannot root (Trying the Xperia X10 Easy Rooting Toolkit, spits out crap about "cannot find the path specified", no matter what I do). Kies also seems to not work with the phone... I have tried both my Self Built Windows 7 HP 64 Bit Desktop and Windows 7 HP 32 Bit netbook and both have the same problem. Windows Devices and Printers reads the device but says that the driver has not been installed, when in fact it has...
Any and all help to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Haha thanks, got it working. Rooted and everything, sorta excited-kid in a candy store .
OK. So if you couldn't tell, I'm a complete newb with android, wanted it for forever, but circumstances didn't allow me to until now, and now I feel a little over my head. Sooo:
1.) Could you (or someone) maybe post links to some threads or sites that would be good to ease me into the world of android?
2.) With my Samsung Galaxy SII, if I am installing ROM's and taking them off, and installing new ones, what are the chances of bricking my device?
3.) Since I rooted it, I went over to CyanogenMod and downloaded the ZIP to the latest stable ROM. I then dropped it into my SD card, and went into a app I downloaded called ROM Manager. When I went to install from SD card, and it rebooted, it gave me an error and popped back out, seemed like I did it wrong. So how do I install ROM's (CM7 in particular).
4.) How would I go about removing that ROM after its been installed and im tired of it ?
I hate feeling like a newb, and would be very thankful for any help people would be willing to give to get me started!
Ok, two more questions .
1.) Is there a good app to backup my current apps before doing a wipe(I have a ton of them...)?
2.) I read that ROM's cannot include google apps, so how would I get them on? Would I download the APK and then sideload them?
Thanks again!
The ROMs that I downloaded were all in ZIP folders and I couldn't figure out what I should link to odin as ZIP folders aren't compatable to flash . And then my phone wont reboot into recovery or download mode (can't remember which one I need to be in for Odin). I tried with debugging on and off and it just boots right back into android. This is very frustrating, as I know I must be doing something wrong...
Thanks for all your help

Wow you need to slow before you do something stupid. Take the time to read and just as important, if not more important, take the time to search the internet for your questions.
Learning what steps needed to do something to your phone is not the goal. Learning what you are doing and why, should be the goal, and learning how to do each step is a sidepoint that you learn as a by-product.
Most important thing to learn why and how to check for is to make sure what you're flashing does not contain bootloaders. If you mess with bootloaders and the smallest thing goes wrong, you end up owning an extremely expensive paper weight, i.e. a brick.
In general flashing what the majority flash here on xda is safe. But that's not a guarantee as any garbage can be uploaded. So read the entire thread. Some are long. If you can't be bothered to read the longer ones, at the minimum use the search tool to look for particular words to your question. Search before you post. It will be evident by what you ask that you've spent the time researching, and will attract a higher level of help.
I'm not trying to be mean or come down on you. You're already starting to do what's right by asking when you're not sure.
A NOTE TO YOU AND EVERY NOOB ON XDA:
One of the biggest reasons people's questions receive no response for a day or more, is because their question could be easily solved by using the search tool in xda or one google search.
In the wise words of tom cruise, "Help me, help you. Help me, help you!"
And yeah, he can fly.

Yea. I goofed and I flashed an international ROM onto it. I was able to find a unrooted stack tar to flash. I plan to do a lot of reading before I do this again . If anyone has any ideas on where to start that would be great.
And no problem, I understand as I am a heavy user of tomshardware forums. It frustrates me when people ask for advice a two second search would pull up.
Again thanks everyone! XDA is awesome!

[Q] Need help to root my phone

Hi,
I am trying to root my phone and have not had any success. I am on a Mac, but I set up a Windows 7 virtual machine and I am following the instructions on the article "How to Root Samsung Galaxy Note and Install CWM Recovery"
Whenever I run the runme.bat file and hit any key, it does something and then closes out so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I made sure that the USB Debugging option is on, and I read somewhere that I need to set it to Charge Only mode but I am not sure how to do that. Does anyone know how to fix this?

There is no RunMe.bat (that I know of) for any rooting method of the AT&T Galaxy Note, so it sounds like you following directions for the International Note. Good thing it didn't do anything, or it likely would have bricked your phone.
I would suggest you research and read a bit more so you are more comfortable with the process. This video is a very good step-by-step video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T40_b0M34OA
I believe this was made by a fellow XDA user, so find them and thank them if it helps!
Check out this link... i just rooted my at & t galaxy note.. step by step instructions for pc. should work in your virtual machine... its always 100 times easier to root your phone on a pc. try to get your hands on one to do it!

Hope this helps..worked for me
Thank you very much.
I follow those steps, boot the phone into downloading mode, and then connect it to my computer. When I do this, on my virtual machine running Windows 7 this is what it says in the device manager:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
Is there a fix to this or should I just use a friends PC?
Did you download the drivers from Samsung and install them in Win7?
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-I717RWAATT
Not sure if that's the issue or not - but it's worth asking.
That was the problem, thank you. I should have just downloaded that zip file in the one post...
thanks for all your help. following the forum post I was able to get the Note rooted!
Cool.I too use a Mac but I have windows installed with boot camp.
Now that you rooted, try installing saurom ROM.I did and my note runs much better and you have some nice customizing options.

good deal. i wouldnt recommend messing with a rom or kernel if youre happy with the root. you could trap youself in bootloop and the phone wont turn on unless you flash everything back to stock... it gets a little difficult if youre new to it... good luck with your note!

[Q] Possible Softbrick from OTA Update

Alright. I have lurked XDA for a long time and this is the first time in seven years of WinPhone/Android flashing I have felt the need to create an account and actually ask a question myself. I really, really did try to find the answers on my own.
So here's the story: Bought an Atrix 4G when they first came out a couple of years ago. Used it for a couple of months, upgraded to Gingerbread no problem. Eventually gave the phone to my girlfriend on T-Mobile, so I had to unlock it. I was very clear with my instructions to NEVER update that phone when it prompts for it.
And she was good! For two years she used that phone with minimal problems. She switched to AT&T this summer and got a new phone, so I got the Atrix 4G back. I hadn't touched that thing in two years and when the prompt came up for an update, of course I updated it. I knew, the *instant* I hit the update button I knew, that I was not supposed to do that. I figured whatever, I want to throw Jelly Bean on it anyway, so let it go and I'll sort it all out on the other end.
Well here I am on the other end, and this thing is effed. It gets as far as the Moto logo and DUAL CORE TECHNOLOGY... and just sits. Still says UNLOCKED up in the upper left, so I guess that's a good sign.
So that's where I am now. Here are the problems I have:
-I want to upgrade this to CM 7.2.0, but first I need to be able to talk to it. Every link for the drivers I can find points directly to Motorola's (now defunct) MotoHub site. I found ONE link that didn't, and it was just an installer for Device Manager. So I can't talk to the thing.
-When I try to do a recovery, it fails and I get a splash screen that says www . goapk . com. No idea what that's all about.
-When I try flashing from a ROM on the SD card, it says it completes the install, but still will not boot past the Moto logo.
So guys, I come to you now at my most desperate hour. Help me, XDA. You're my only hope.

Goapk is the recovery from I believe it was romracer or someone. Since then, there have been updated recovery.imgs that can be used. Usually the drivers install automatically when you hook up the device to the computer, but i'm assuming you're referring to adb and fastboot files? Those files are here on xda, off hand i'm not exactly sure which thread, but they are here online. If that's what you need, download them, and then via fastboot flash an updated recovery to your device, then try flashing the ROM following the usual proceedures.

Thank you for your response, but man I really cannot find those drivers anywhere.
I know there are two different drivers I need to have the PC driver and the USB driver... but the only thing I can find *at all* is the Motorola Device Manager. I knew I should have saved those the last time I downloaded them.

Sure but the motorola device manager only works if you phone its working, cuz when you open the MDM it`ll only look for updates and the shut down... sooo.... any other way?
I was in the same quandary and installing the Motorola Device Manager - is THE only known way to get the drivers for Motorola devices. It should auto detect your phone as Atrix and go ahead. However, I don't think you're going past the bootloader, so not much luck there.
You said, you could still access recovery? Why don't you try the fruitcake stock ATT GB ROM then (from recovery)?

[Q] Is my SGPT121 salvageable?

I have spent a week sifting this forum and was unsuccessful in answering my own question. Please guide me as I am a NOOB to Android. Or straight up tell me I gotta send this in to Sony.
I bought this Xperia Tablet 2 in May. LOVE it! Made no Root mods, totally stock. Updated to 4.1.1 - OK! Updated to 4.1.1 release2 - issues.
Within a week, the tablet would shut off in the middle of Paper Monster and web browsing. I would restart and everything was fine, for a while. Then it shut down and would not boot back up. Sticks on SONY.
Tried soft reset, no luck. Tried Recovery (very hard to get into, fails 80% of the time to enter) no luck, still sticks on SONY.
So I don't have access to put the USB Debugging feature on, and its not rooted so 6.5 All-in-One can't help me (at least not in my current NOOB status)
I did purchase a brand new SGPT122 to replace this one, but have not set it up in hopes maybe someone could tell me how to copy the OS or RECOVERY off of it and install it on my SGPT121 to revive it.
Whats my next step?

Option 1 send to Sony tell them issues and ask for downgrade in firmware. They will probably say it is not possible.
Option 2 root and use AiO tool to install rescure back-door then you can install JB r1. You can then unroot and have it as stock.

OK I have been attempting this all evening. I cannot get my computer to recognize the tablet. That is because I cannot enable USB Debugging because I cannot get past the SONY screen, right? Or is there another way to root?
It appears I can only access the Recovery Screen, and it does not like the version of OTA.zip I have. I have not found Recovery ROMS for this tablet.
I really appreciate your time, Thank You.

Adb should still be available in recovery wether usb debugging is on or not. Is it asking for a driver at all?
If you had the latest update installed then. You wont be able to install anything and it will need to go to sony.

Check your device manager to see if the tablet driver is properly installed, if not, install it. This might help.

Thanks for the help! I called Sony today, they said since the computer doesn't recognize the device and it will only go into recovery sometimes the pad needs service. (I know OF COURSE) But is does stand to reason since I have plugged into multiple PCs and no recognition. They are sending a box for me. I just hope my 32Gb version doesn't tank also.

How to make a full data reset when the tablet don't want to turn on ?

Hello guys !
I was wondering what I could do of my old Touchpad, and I realized I could install Android on it. But I made, way before, some manipulations on it to install Android, and it seems that the tablet don't want to turn on... I tried to make the Home+VolUp+Power Button combo but it does anything, so I'm a little bit confused of what to do, since I don't expect my tablet to be dead now...
I would really be happy if someone could help me !
Ok... To be totally honest, I searched for hours, trying to find a solution, and the most interessting one was that I needed, or to find a way to launch ACMEuninstaller2 and my Touchpad (I've got a unable to find device error), or to install ubuntu to use tpdebrick... The thing is that I don't have any laptor that I can use to install ubuntu on, so I'm really lost... I don't know what to do, the drivers don't want to get installed, my TP can't get in USB mode, and my computer don't recognize the tablet... I really don't know what to do, so I'm really begging you to help me in any way you can ! I would marry you if you could fix those problems I have.

EDIT: Well that link is useless, isn't it? Try this
Thank you.
I searched and realized that I needed to put my tablet in WebOS recovery mode, the thing is that making the handling just make nothing appear... My screen is completly black, there's just a little white led when I plug my tablet to my PC, but it's all.... So I can't do anything, but I can force the tablet shutdown, that's a good news I imagine. Now, I'm stuck, and I don't know what to do...
