Dice player WILL CRASH YOUR PRIME! - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Just wanted to give everyone a warning. If you leave dice player open and turn off the screen, it will crash and reboot. (It takes a few seconds after you turn the screen back on. Yes, it will still crash of you close it with the home button right after.)

Eh, no it doesn't... please don't state things like these as facts. Ask a question, sure... but don't say it like this is a universal thing because it works just fine here.

Just tried it and no rebooting here either. Dice player works just fine on my Prime.

No *Thank You* points for you sir! Post some factual info first please.

Just to clarify, the situation is like this: I pause a .mkv file and turn off the screen. When i turn the screen back on, no matter what i do next, it will freeze and reboot the prime. Thankfully, these are the only crashes i get on it

Just tried. Worked fine for me. I'm not going to test the overnight. If it crashes cause I leave it on overnight my life will go on.

Tbh it's probably the way the movie is encoded. Mkvs have tons of different codecs. I reencode mine so they're less than 4gb so the fit on my micro sd. I tried just now with a 12gb movie. Still works.
I still bet it's the movie encoding.

Two things are still crashing my Prime, Youtube and Dice player. 90% of the time, Dice works great, but if I do something like pause, or maybe rewind, sometimes it crashes. I had one occasion where it just crashed right in the middle of a movie and I didn't do anything. It's so rare and random I figure it was a codec problems since I only watch MKV. I still think it's a great movie player. Youtube still sucks though.

Its cuz the hw decoding and video encoding. Watching animu mkv sometimes crashes my prime.

Confirmed. I have this problem as well. Very annoying.

Had this problem once, didn't try again...
Another thing I noticed with dice was while using hdmi-out, the subtitles with srt or sub file stayed on prime screen but video went to TV.!!

is it right that Dice Player won't play off a microcard?
got my Prime yesterday, and can't 'access' the card via Dice Player
had I known about this, I wouldn't have spent £ 70 on a 64GB card

[Q] DICE Player issues after ICS

DICE player for Android plays videos fine, after ICS, but there is no menu button anymore. No way to turn on/off subtitles, or choose subtitle files. Also, there seems to be no way to remove the bottom status bar while playing a video. Has anyone been able to find work-arounds?
This sucks.
Send a mail to the developer so he knows what he need to work on. Hopes its a easy fix for him. Diceplayer have been the best player just because of its many and easy settings when it comes to subtitle and more.
Does anyone find a workaround or it is up to the man behind Diceplayer that needs to fix it.
Start to miss HC more and more.

There's no need to panic, keep in mind all these apps were wrote for either gingerbread/honeycomb.
ICS has just been released (this is the second device)
for apps as popular as the dice player, I'm sure they'll be writing a version (or altering the old one) to play nicely with the new OS, just gotta be patient.
Yeah I know. Everything just need some time.

The settings are only viewable if you open the DICE player app by itself (i.e., not from a file manager). As far as I can tell, those settings are not doing anything.I changed the font size, and it has no effect when I actually play a file.

Yeah, I know I can find the settings inside the application.
I talk about the menu/options key that you can access when you are playing a video. And the subtitle size can't be changed. Aside that the video playback works great as usual.
Have mail the developer and told him about the "problem".. So know we just wait.

just a heads up
this is not specific to dice player.
about 40% of my apps no longer have menu buttons.
there is no alternative that I know of.
they just are not compatible with ICS
ICS is totally sucks. Did live up the all the hypes. I wish I never updated my to ICS. HC was working great for me. After updating to ICS, all kinds of issues...screen flickering very few minutes, some apps totally don't work anymore.....
ICS Feels more like a phone OS. HC felt more for tablets.
Now with ICS there no need for tablets specific apps because the phone app should work. This means that we won't see any apps that take advantage of tablets bigger screen. I still think it would been better if we got one OS för tablets and one for phone. Now we with tablet just will get phone apps because that's the idea with ICS that phone and tablet are the same.
Back to Diceplayer. Just received a mail from the developer and got a test version. Now we have menu button and the subtitle size can now be changed.
The status bar still shows. But that should be a easy fix. He don't have a ICS tablet so it's hard for him to test how it works. But now when he now about it I sure he can work something out.
Really hope he gets a paid version up on market soon, so he will get some $$$
We need to remember that ICS only been out for 1 month. And only runs on 2 device. Remember how long it took for HC to get good support. I am sure that if we just give the developers of apps time to fix and update there apps to support ICS it will become better.

Watch a movie while surfing the Web!!! Stick it!!!

I came across this app by chance while bored and searching for new apps to play with and wanted to share with the community. If this has been shared before (did not come up in a search for me) my apologies.
While this app is still young and a little rough around the edges, it's still pretty awesome. It allows for a resizable and movable pop up window overlay (that's themeable!!) to play a video as you do other things like surf the web or play a game. Think Picture in Picture on your TV.
It even allows multiple instances of video under a lot of circumstances. Basic but useful multitasking all the way.
https://market.android.com/details?...sImNvbS5teWJveWZyaWVuZGlzYWdlZWsuc3RpY2tpdCJd
It's $1.50 in the android market and definitely provides something that made my iOS friends at work VERY jealous of today. I added some screenshots of it running on my TFP. Video ran very smoothly even with Fruit Ninja playing in the background or multiple tabs.
P.S. It also ran smoothly on my Epic 4G on Gingerbread though it's not as useful on a phone screen!!
Can you resize the video window?

Yes. You can manually resize by dragging the arrow on the bottom right corner or expand by pressing one of the soft buttons on the windows titlebar.
I actually was able to play 2 videos simultaneously on my Epic 4G's 480 x 800 display.
You can also position the window to any part of your desktop if it gets in the way.

What did you use to convert it? Any programs i try using (forget the name, derp) either come back unplayable format or really choppy or crap quality from blueray rips.
If i wanted to re-encode the movies i have to the exact resolution of the TF201 for best quality and lowest file size, what do you suggest?

Definitely reboot. About the 3rd time I fired it up after installing some add ons it began running like a charm. The first time you use it there may be a very long start and turn off period. That's ok.
The XBMC interface is running smoothly on my TP.
When i try to stream (WiFI) a X264 movie with DTS over SMB it stutters like mad.

I wonder if this can and will support HDMI CEC.
I gave it ago on my Prime running the stock rom, i was quite impressed with how well it worked.
I could map my SMB network shares on my Windows Home Server perfectly and XBMC would stream anything SD fine, 720p MKV played some what ok with random frame drops / jerkiness every couple of seconds, 1080p video was very jerky and not really any watchable.
Plugins such as the BBC iPlayer worked (sometimes buggy), YouTube and Ted Talks also worked very well.

I may be wrong but I believe that these versions of XBMC don't support hardware acceleration just yet. I haven't been on top of the development of this app but that tidbit was enough for me to wait for the final release.
github is here: https://github.com/xbmc/android/commits/android-rebase-8/
There are two builds AFAIK
zefie's: http://files.persona.cc/zefie/files/cell/androidapk/xbmc-unofficial/?C=M&O=D&S=&P=
and the one on miniland: https://www.miniand.com/forums/forums/1/topics/136

I had the same issue... It's because somehow it doesn't work when your volume isn't at anything but 100%. If it's set to the loudest it can be, the sound works fine.
It's not dead yet. Plenty of ROM development going on in the dev section.

XBMC 12 Frodo
Has anyone tried XBMC 12 Frodo RC3 on ATP? I have a TF201. I'm a long time user of XMBC since the original Xbox, and the app looks great. I'm very happy to see this. But unfortunately, with this version, the videos lag quite a bit and I get absolutely no audio. I've tried changing the audio out options and playing music/video with no luck. I did not yet try pushing the video/music out through HDMI yet, but not really much point yet.
Anyone else trying have experience with this?

Audio lags behind Video stream

Not sure if it's just me, but when I'm watching video streams, anything from ESPN, YouTube, browser embedded videos, or HTC Media Streamer based content, Audio stream noticeably lags behind. About half a second actually.
Has anyone noticed this behavior, and what's the solution?
Thanks.
i've noticed it lags on the videos that you record. the audio is a little quicker than the video.
Yup that's exactly the case. Audio lags behind video in pretty much anything that's using HTC's native "Streaming Media Player". Massive and consistent lag.
Netfilx, WatchESPN, and similar third party apps don't lag as much though.

I'm talking anything, not only your camera content. If you get TubeMate and download any YouTube video onto your phone, and then play it with the default player, you'll notice a massive lag. Doesn't matter if HD or SD content. The phone is definitely NOT struggling to keep up.
The issue has to be within the actual OS settings.

In YouTube app lag isn't as drastic, but if you download the video and then watch, we're talking over 250ms. I also restored recently, same issue.
Am I the only one having this issue?!
i haven't downloaded any videos on to this thing so i really can't say lol
so wow, I was just watching a youtube video and yeah... the audio was slower than the video. I bet it has to do with the full HD screen.. what else could it be? ugh pretty damn annoying. this sucks because I'm anal as hell when it comes to audio and video lag...

Even when streaming within YouTube app, the lag is present, it's just not as evident. However, when playing any content loaded onto the device, the lag is north of 250ms which is major!
Another example is my subscription to Futubox which has two ways of delivering HD content, browser flash based, and m3u8 where HTC MEdia Streamer handles the content natively. Flash plays perfectly in sync (although drains more battery), but m3u8, or rtmp/rtsp lags terribly.
I've tried the same exact m3u8 stream on an iPad 3 and a PC, no lag whatsoever, even when AirPlayed.
I simply mentioned TubeMate because it's the easiest way to grab video content onto the storage. Besides that, TubeMate downloads whatever the digital source is, could never be the cause if the issue.
This is OS level issue, and it's real.
so it seems screen resolution is the culprit. btw guys I've reported this to htc, and sent the link for this thread. They're in contact with me. I suggest you report it too

I can log in, choose a movie, the movie starts, but though I can see the subtitles I can't see the image. Can you help me?
My phone is a GT-I9500
The pictures and videos are beautiful. Watching Netflix or Hulu are just as beautiful as they were on the Note. Extremely pleased customer....
