The top bar is "HD Widgets". Don't know if it comes with the free version or not. I picked up the paid during a big app sale.

Slight redo. Switched to ADW launcher, disabled the dock bar. Top bar is a combination of widgets.
1) Fancy Widgets (one for current day forecast, one for multiday)
2) Minimal Text
3) SwitchPro

My daily high contrast home screen

Still using the same layout. It's perfect to me, why change it. Have however been using this Thunderstorm Live Wallpaper for a week now and freakin love it! Can set it to strike lightning when you tap it too. So tapping it app, strikes it and it opens. Just fun. Keep it sitting under my monitor all day.

Have you tried another Launcher? ADW Launcher EX is working awesome and you can choose the size of the desktop icons and how many show up on the screen.

ADW is my preferred launcher as well, even lets you backup your settings/desktop which is very nice. Search for "wallpaper" in the Nook Color forums to find fixes for that--QuickPic or whatever it's called helped me a lot and made the whole process much smoother. Also, opt for .png files (convert them if you have to) as they scale better. Make sure to format the backgrounds to the appropriate resolution.
Also maybe check your build.prop and see if your LCD Density is off. Have you altered it?
Your abrasive approach to the problem lightened my day
Something must be off on your NC, because I am using Zeam and Fancy Pro ... and it looks phenomenal.
I would uninstall and reinstall both, reboot and see what you get.
Could you post a pic perhaps? Hold down the "n" button and quickly press "-" (minus key for Volume).

Wallpaper Set & Save in the market will help with some image quality problems. Not sure what problems you've had with JPG images, you mention scaling, so maybe that's why I haven't had any problems since all the JPGs I use look phenomenal, but are sized correctly at 1200x1024.
I have the Zeam launcher and it works like a charm. I used pretty much all the launchers and finally settled down on Zeam because it lets me do the most customization (especially the dock). Combined with Super Keys and Apps Organizer, it gives the best flexibility IMHO.
Try using the stock launcher to set the wall paper & then switch back to Zeam. That works for me. Zeam seems to zoom the wallpaper too much.
Cheers,
kev
Finally got this working with high rez backgrounds
I also was having nothing but problems with this, no matter what I tried I would always get blurred/zoomed in backgrounds. Finally, I found the application QuickPic by alensw.com which did the trick (search for QuickPic in the marketplace).
Use it to navigate to the image you want to use as a background, tap the down arrow in the upper right (tap the screen if it doesn't show), and select the option "Set As" and the next menu select "QuickPic Wallpaper" and then adjust the box to fit what you desire and press the "save" icon on the upper right. This will take a moment, and when its done you can exit the application and enjoy your high res background.

I use Zeam and QuickPic and Wallpaper Changer but what made my wallpapers look right was resizing to 750h x 1024w. Now they look good no matter how I set them. I don't know about the widgets though.
Crop wallpapers from the market did the trick for me. I'll post my settings for it when I get to work:

hey I read this yesterday and forgot to post. I recommend using ADW EX and download free from the market an app called WallpaperCASA. I had the same nasty gradient blocky problem you did for wallpapers and everything. ADW EX actually does some things for mdpi devices to make them look like nicer HDPI devices. give it a try
Zeam actually did the best job making my wallpapers look good. You need to check the "manage wallpaper internally" option under settings. The image still gets cropped a little but it is significantly better than any of the other launchers mentioned. ADW, VTL and LPP made the papers look terrible in landscape mode. Not sure how it compares to some of the market apps others have suggested.

i've since changed the power controls to the switchPro widget, which looks much much better.
left panel has a desktop visualizer widget with transparent icon then when pressed pulls up an app organizer folder containing my most used apps.
Which calendar widget is that?
Thank you
calender widget is smooth calender. the center home screen is a hybrid setup. top is simi clock with battery display on right. below that is simi clock weather widget on the left for current weather, then beautiful widgets showing the forcast (resized to 3x1 with launcherPro full version). Below that is smooth calender. To pull it all together i resized the simi clock widget on top to pull it down over the rest of them to get the divider line and slight background tint.
This should be a sticky.... Or I can just subscribe. Lol. I love sharing/borrowing new ideas

get all the drivers working for the phone, plug into a computer. Get the android sdk. in one of the folders (tools?) there is something called ddms.bat. run that, and if your phone is talking to the computer you can do a bunch of things. one is screen shot. You don't even need to be rooted.
Here is my screen shots. Page2 is my homescreen. I used WidgetLocker, Desktop VisualizeR, Minimalistic Text, and Launcher Pro. Icons and wallpaper were from the ultralinx blog which I can't link to since i'm new, but I found it from this website.

Which screen capture program did you use? Thanks
Wallpaper is from a Honeycomb (3.0) dump, I believe they might be from the Xoom. Resized to 1080x960, custom LP dock (kind of a cool city theme that matches the wallpaper), new MinimalisticText custom format (for time, weather and battery all in one), also tweaked my Folder Org folder themes.
The second picture is for fun, it's the 3D transition in LP, which is INCREDIBLY smooth and fast on the Atrix (it's way cooler in motion, but figured this would give you an idea).

That looks great!
Got mine on Tuesday. Here my screen with what I can do while still unrooted. Using adw, clockr for clock, stole simi weather from first poster.
Any thoughts on what to do with the empty (not seen) screens? My first android phone.

Curious how many keep the big flip clock on home screen ?

I was just curious how many people keep the standard HTC flip clock with weather on their home screen by default ?
I used to like it on my EVO 4G the first couple of months, but then got sick of the HUGE numbers, made me feel like an old man with such a big clock on my screen, and changed to Beautiful widgets clock instead, I run some custom clock skin, and custom weather, to give me that all black and white look. I wish we could make the HTC flip clock smaller, the big one makes me feel like I am blind, and need large granny numbers to see it.
Opinions ?
I like the clock but it takes up too much screen real estate. I'd rather have another row of widget space.

I agree, if it could be shrunk down just a tad smaller, and allow for 1 row of a news widget below it, would be perfect.
I currently run a clear engadget news ticker under my beautiful Widget clock. I transferred this APK, from my EVO 4G, and it works perfectly, just like the stock engadget news ticker, expect with no border, and it's transparent background.
with the clock and current widget size their is more than enough room for a third row of apps, if they just shift them down slightly and take away the app name it would be perfect, leave the name in the app drawer but we all know what the icons do by now it's not like we need to read the name on the any of the home screens

Would be perfect if I could have three rows below the big clock. One for a news ticker running right below the clock, and then two rows for app icons.
I love the clock, I've always left it there on all my HTC phones. I like a clean home page so there's only my Handcent and K-9 mail icons other than the clock. I like the left page also so I leave that intact and then add a couple icons to the right page.
I always use it...kinda why I could never get into non-Sense ROMs.
Really old screenshot from the EVO, but multicon was/is my best friend...unfortunately it doesn't look quite as good on the 3D.

I use fancy widget pro. Clock and weather on one row.
I don't use it. I have a clock on the notification bar and one thing I hate is redundancy. I leave my main homescreen blank so I can look at my wallpaper and each page is themed. One for media like music and youtube widgets, one for messages, one for social etc.

+1 for Fancy Widget Pro, but I use the 4X2 widget with battery % and no background most of the time. Once in a while I use the G-Tab Simi clock for a change.
I used to like it but prefer the simplistic style of Clockr...great app.
Fancy Widget Pro, got it free on Amazon 1 day. Great little app.

[APP] [SHARE] JB Aspect free cropping

I found it on SII forum.I tested it on CM and stock.
Here is Original Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222518
This is an small app that lets you crop an image freely when trying to set the wallpaper or lock screen background.
In the Jelly Bean stock and stock-based ROMs, is not possible to properly set the home and lock screen wallpapers, due to a nice new feature of keeping the crop box aspect fixed to a square, but the area to be cropped is a smaller rectangle.
When trying to set the lock screen wallpaper with a portrait image, the always squared crop box touches the lateral borders of the image, forcing you to select a much smaller area -possibly scaling the picture-, and thus leaving us in a less than optimal situation, unhappy with our powerful pocket computer that could do much better with such a trivial task.
This lazily done app comes as an option when you try to set a wallpaper, and just calls the stock Gallery app with a crop action without the aspectX and aspectY parameters that lock the aspect of the crop box.
Note: This app needs the stock Gallery or Note 2 Gallery.
UPDATE:
2013/16/22 [v1.51]
- Fixed character encoding error in image paths.
- Other minor fixes.
2013/06/09 [v1.5]
- Prevents hiding part of wallpaper behind status bar.
- Lock screen wallpaper can be cropped to any size.
- Can work with AOSP's Gallery.
- Launcher icon with settings for some of the above features.
- Fixed screen rotation bugs.
If wallpaper scrolling is enabled, it's better to select an squared area or wider, or else you will see black bars to the sides or a scaled image. This version lets you choose what happens in that case.
2013/05/06
- Works with Quickpic.
- Better lockscreen wallpaper size (checks status bar height).
- Home screen wallpaper maximum width is 960; minimum is 800.
- Checks if lockscreen wallpaper is writable. If not, S2 Gallery handles it.
2013/05/05
- Handles all lock screen wallpaper process. Works on Note 2 Gallery.
MAY NEED ROOT. This works by saving the image directly to the Gallery data folder.
- Lock screen crop box is fixed to match the screen.
- No lateral black bars in home screen.
- Signed. You must uninstall the previous version before trying to install this one.
- Kick ass icon.
2013/04/23
- Processes and sets Home wallpaper to prevent zooming.
- Checks whether the Gallery activity exists.

LG V10 - Resize Widgets?

Hi Guys,
Just got my hands on a V10 and it is a lovely phone. Just trying to get to grips with it having upgraded from a Note 3.
I am trying to figure out how to stretch the Widgets so they go across the entire width of the screen.
I could do this with my Note 3 but can't seem to do it with my V10.
Am I being silly?
Thanks

Just hold your finger down on it as if you were going to move or delete it and let go once the delete/remove option comes up. You can then grab an edge to resize. Blue lines indicate an allowable resize, red lines a size not available. Pandora for me can go from 4x1 to 4x4 but not 5x1.

Odd. When I do that I get the blue lines around the box to move it, however when I release my finger the widget falls down again and locks.
I don't get the options of moving the sides to resize.
Also, all the promotional photos of the V10 show the clock widget with the hours on top of the minutes, which I prefer. I don't see that widget on my device and I can't shrink the 3x2 clock widget to make it present this way. Where is the clock widget showcased in this picture?

Jimmy, I've been using android phones for years. If you don't have an answer, don't respond. I have a horizontal clock on my lock screen as well as my home screen. Regardless of which screen is in the picture, the clock is vertical. Do you have a vertical clock on your device on any of the screens?

Turns out my problem is with the Audible widget and amazon music widget both are not actually resizable.
Other widgets resize in the way you would expect.
doesn't work quite correctly
I had trouble resizing widgets too. But I noticed that if I first moved them away from the left side of the display, I could then resize. Weird.

no, I do not
they also used a similar vertical clock on the press pics for the lg flex
I tried the same widget (Pandora) in Nova launcher that wasn't stretching all the way across the screen in Lg's launcher and it changes size just fine. Silly Lg
