Question about Chargers!! - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hey guys, I lost my USB charger head that came with the phone.. I couldnt find an original MOTO 850 ma charger head from eBay.in..
I tried a 550 ma Samsung Micro USB charger but it charged very slowly.. 5 hrs to full charge.
So more ma = less charging time??
Will this one be good and charge fast?!
http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-Samsung-...Accessories&hash=item4163ef6a3b#ht_3314wt_908
Please help!

The one you found will work fine and charge faster than the original one.

1000mAh
It has been noted in other forums that you need to use a 1000mAh charger to get the full charge. I have used one that was less and the phone was only able to achieve around a 50% charge overnight.

What are compatible 1000mAh Wall chargers?

I been looking like crazy and all I found were as high as 850mAh for the Droid Charger. Anyone found any other than the Stock Charger?
I use an old Nokia wall charger. The output is 550 mA. It works just fine. The way I see it is that its a higher output than just charging it through a computer and less than the stock wall charger.
The slower you can charge a Lithium-Ion battery, the better.

I need the faster you charge the lower the charge and wears out battery faster
if you do want a FAST Charge, then you got it with high output it'l kill your battery but.. there is an upside.. if you charge on fast charge..
then drain it 15 precent charge again you'll have similar effects of a long slow charge
The Apple charger is a 1000 mAh charger.

apple phones also have crap battery time
I use an old Motorola charger because the cord is longer... charging it on the computer USB takes FOREVER!!! It is from a ROKR E8 and I think it says 650mAH The stock charger that came with the Slide is 1A and my GF's charger for her CLIQ XT is 850mAH.....
I use them all, does it really make a difference?
And how so I condition the battery because I get horrible battery life

[Q] clarification about USB vs AC charging: battery life

i'm reading different opinions about this when i searched through the xda forums and on google.
i'm using the same custom rom and kernel for about a week now. a few days ago, i charged purely on wall socket. left overnight, my battery lost only 2%.
last night, i charged my phone when it was about 30%. i charged using usb up to 85%, then i finished it off on AC up to a 100%. my overnight loss went up to 5% (i did not install any additional apk, or change my setcpu profiles, etc).
there are no topics on this, specifically for SGS2. mostly are from HTC threads.
from what i learned, usb's only pour out about half of what AC's can give (500 mah vs 1,000 mah). does that translate into a poorer batt life?
How you charge your phone, usb vs AC will not effect the battery life, 100% is 100%, it will just charge slower via usb.

I have noticed something similar with my captivate.I would guess that when you use the wall charger with 1amp the battery gets more of a charge than when you use a usb charger at .5amps. 1amp can cause more chemical change in the battery than half an amp.

SGS2 will only let 650mA into the battery, AFAIK it's hardware restricted to do this. Wall charger will charge faster, but only slightly.
I see no difference and 2% to 5% is within a tolerable variation of overnight drain .
Its all the same electricity .

Firmware, actually, and the phone determines how much it will draw based on the resistance between the two USB data pins. If the resistance is < 200 ohms, it assumes it's plugged into an AC charger, and will draw up to 650 mA. Otherwise, it assumes it's plugged into a PC's USB 2.0 port, and will draw up to 450 mA, just under the 500 mA that a USB 2.0 port is supposed to provide, per the USB 2.0 spec.
Since it's firmware, it should be possible to change the current draw by re-compiling the kernel sources with new values. Note that you don't want to go too high on the charging current, as that could cause overheating or fire.

And how about charging a spare battery using a separate battery charger?
I have two batteries and I never charge them plugging the phone, just using a spare battery charger. Does it have any negative effect on the batteries' lifespan?
dont know what happened but my phone is being charged with ac adapter as same speed as usb.(more than 4 hours) :S
I have a USB charger capable of delivering 1A.
Even with the data pins shorted (phone side), it still seems to draw only 350 mA :-(
Any ideas?
Known made-up cables that do work?

[CHARGER INFO]"Looking for chargers!? Cant get em working?" Max Charge Rate

So, I don't know if this is just my device or maybe already known. I don't see it here(or google) so I am going to post this so others can find this info faster than the 2hrs it took me.
Some Li-Ion batteries have a low max charge rate. Meaning you cant "over-current"(mA "Milli-Amps" or A "Amps") them too much(saves life). Well my Razr just showed me this. This can allow you to charge the battery faster if you have one that is tolerant of the "over-current".
Apparently maximum for the Droid RAZR is somewhere between 850mA and 1000mA
Tried using an HTC @ 1A and no joy.. wont charge.. actually says charging.. but the battery seems to have flipped the switch to not charge; and just continues to discharge normally; even the hidden status(dial *#*#4636#*#*) says charging but obviously not! Tried different HTC models and different cables. I am now only using my Moto supplied cable.
Even after it was dead. It would show the charging screen @ 0% and the light would be red. Stating that you cant turn it on cause there is not enough juice to finish boot. It would never go Green no matter how long I waited(10-15 minutes) usually only takes 5 minutes.
Found my OG Droid charger; remembering that it was lower than 1A. It actually is 5v 850mA. Charging away!
Remember the stock charger is rate @ 5v 750mA - this means you can probably use chargers from 700ish to maybe 900ish mA. I cannot confirm these estimates. Anyone else seen any other rates work?
Hope this helps someone down the road. I know it would have helped me!
MODS - Please, if this is wrong info please DO NOT HESITATE to notify me/remove/edit my post. I just want the right info somewhere, cause it was not well documented anywhere i searched via google.
Also - Thinking more on the subject - this could be the "Authorized Charger" bull that Moto likes to put on its devices i.e. The RAZR flip-phone was notoriuosly bad about this. Even my old nextel "beep beep" had this problem with OEM chargers. Had to spend $15+ on the official one. Again - if this info is wrong in ANY way please fix it or remove it.
use official 850mA charger and be happy. Motorola also confirmed using 1A chargers without any problems but any ways original ones are recommended.
Brilliant, my problem now makes sense!
Couple of questions: What does this mean to charging via USB instead of mains? Is it the plug or the cable that is rated to a certain ampage?
One more question. I found another usb plug rated to 300mA. I presume using this will just mean the phone charges slower? It won't have any negative effect on the battery?

Just adding my experience... Have been using an iphone wall charger w/ the usb jack on it and the supplied motorola cable. Its listed as 1000Mah. Battery Monitor Widget shows it charging around 945Mah. Doesn't get hot, charges like a bat out of hell. Down side is phone is about 60% unresponsive during the charge.
Found a little info on this. Apparently different cables, when plugged in, short different contacts to let the device know what it's plugged in to. Resistors change the current. Audio out can tell if it's plugged into a dock versus USB versus wall charger. The Verizon replacement didn't work for me, but an hard incredible one did. They both charged but only the htc recognized computer connections

My stock Razr wall charger is 750mA. I use a 1000mA car charger and it works fine - doesn't get hot and charges faster.
But sometimes you do have to be careful. I had a friend who's noob mother fried her Bionic with a charger that was too many mA for it to handle.

strange... my stock charger's rated 850mA.. maybe because i use international GSM version of RAZR.. but it charge just fine..
but even i tried charge it with blackberry's 700 mA charger or my ipod touch 1000mA charger it both charge just fine.. and it feels like the 1000mA charge slightly faster..
too bad i broke my old nokia n900 1200 mA charger..
I'm using an HTC 1A charger: the RAZR doesn't become hot while charging and it's charging faster.
The limit is 1A anyway.

dang! so i guess nokia 1200mA charger won't be any good then..
thanks for the info though.. i was thinking of getting myself a nokia charger after read this thread..
Ever since my first motorola I've noticed that the stock charger is 5.1 volts.
Charging with other brands always seem to give worse battery life.
My old Rizr only lasted a day when charged from the USB of my computer, but 6-7 days with the original part.
Some of that is apparent with my car charger too, it says it's taking charge, but sometimes it will run backwards with GPS running..
I experience the charger issue last night.
I had low battery when I went to sleep, put the cable in and it said charging.
Came late to work because the phone drained the battery instead of charging. I used a 5V 1.2A charger and its been working great until last night. And I noticed my original charger is 5.1V 850mA for the Razr.
You learn something new every day!

[Q] Can't charge my S III on several chargers

I've buyed a used S III today, and it came with a travel adapter ETA0U10EBE that has an output of 700 mA and i was charging my phone with it for 20-30 minutes, i accidently ripped the wires on it, so i charged it using a usb cable on my pc at work for the rest of the day. When i arrived home, i soldered the wires on the ripped charger and tryed it on another device, so i dont mess up my new samsung and it was working fine. After i pluged it in my samsung, screen turned on, but no charging effect. I then took another charger 550 mA ETA3U30EBE and started charging the phone normally but slow as hell (about 4 and a half hours from 8% to 100%). then i tryed with my Nokia AC-10E micro USB charger with an output of 1200 mA, it repeated the behaviour that happened with the 1st 700 mA charger. So it only doesn't refuse to charge via usb or 550 mA charger.... What could be the problem?
The phone is not rooted, with its stock rom, updated to 4.1.2 right away when i got it. Please someone help my misery.

Hi,
I did not understood your question. is your question is "is 3-4 hours is normal charge time for your phone?
I have the 9205 MEGA 6.3 and it looks like this is about the right charging time with the original power supply (Charger).
I check on the samsung USB charger and this is a 5v / 250Ma chargeur. I replaced the charger by a old USB Blackerry charger 5v / 500Ma and it is charging now in less than 3 hours.
Did somone try a 1A charger to see if it is faster??
Thank you.
use a samsung charger
When u use a samsung charger with it. Charging is faster. I for one use the plug alone with by blackberry usb (cos its longer) but if I use any other charger. .. thats some pretty slow charging id be experiencing so I go everywhere with the charger in my backpack
LosNaija
Usually mine charges fully in 2 his or less.
