[Q] EVO 3D rooting - HTC EVO 3D

Hello.
I bought EVO 3D few days ago.
I want to root it but my HBOOT is 1.49.0018. All videos in youtube.com is with HBOOT 1.40.00000 or 1.50.00000. How could I root it?
And another problem is that a lot of services are always running. My free momory is from 150mb ram - 250mb ram. I think free momory should be from 300-500mb ram.
And battery life is just nothing. I did charge it all night. I went to school at 7:00 but at 13:40 or 14:00 the battery was empty. Is it normal?
I really really want to find answers to my questions.
Hope someone from this forum can help me.

Check revolutionary.io, I think your hboot is too new to use revolutionary, not positive though. Another option is running the 2.17 ruu, that'll get you 1.5 hboot, which can be unlocked with htcdev. Another option is downgrading your hboot, thanks to unknownforce for bricking his device to show us this method. You can find the downgrade thread in the development stickys
sent from my downgraded EVO 3d.

I wanted to try through htcdev.com but what should I choose for European EVO 3D?
It offers me Sprint, Rogers and EMEA. Which should I choose?

I started rooting through htcdev.com
I am at step where I should type in
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
And after that it shows me
<waiting for the device>
It just stops. Nothing happens.
What could be the problem? How could i resolve it?

They get installed alongside HTC sync, so grab the latest version of that from the official HTC site, install it, then uninstall HTC sync while leaving the drivers in place. Job done .

Do you know how to get S - OFF and install better ROM or smth after htcdev.com?

Well sence your hboot is 1.49.0018 then head on over to HTC dev website and sign up you will have to do first this where you will unlock your bootloader after that you will be able to install a custom recovery and then install you can install the Su files and this is what give's you root access

Right now i am trying to flash cwm through fastboot.
I type in cd Desktop\Android
In there I have this cwm-5.8.0.2-shooter.img. The name is longer but in cmd i type this.
I type in cmd
fastboot flash recovery cmw-5.8.0.2-shooter.img
and it says to me
error: cannot load 'cmw-5.8.0.2-shooter.img'
What is the problem?
Can anyone help me to resolve it?
There is no info about this error in forum.
After I will flash cwm i will install su files.

Ok I see that you flashing the wrong recovery you should be flashing revolutionary's custom recovery cwm doesn't work for the Evo 3D yet go back to the development section and find revolutionary custom recovery oh buy the way take your time don't rush it you want to do this the right way and that means less problems

s-off hboot 1.5. has it been done yet?

like the title says... is it done yet? been looking and looking for solutions to that question. i'm already rooted using the htc method. but still looking for a way to get s-off.
check the 3D general section, there are a few threads on it with varying info.
short answer though - no
There has been some effort made towards this front, with little success. Whether you think it's a smoke screen, or not, evil devnull, and his team, attempted this around thanksgiving, and couldn't come up with anything. Not sure if revolutionary is quietly working on something, or if they are waiting for the ICS update, or if they are just done with bootloader unlocking, period (I'm not bashing those guys, but they have been eerily quiet since the bootloader changed to 1.5).
The unlocked, non carrier branded GSM guys have found a way to revert back to an eariler bootloader, using the HTC unlock method, and then performing a similar method to what the thunderbolt/evo shift 4g guys did to allow the Hboot to accept a RUU with an earlier hboot.
I think this doesn't get much attention, because the HTC unlock method allows you can do almost everything you could if you had S-OFF. The only thing missing is being able to flash radios.
At this point it wouldn't make sense for devs to come up with a solution now. Not with ICS around the corner
is there a temp root for hboot 1.5?

whats ics?
The only reason why i ask is because, ##data# or what ever it is, i found my midi number using an app in market place, but when i tried to adjust my volume. it doesnt want to work. i was wondering if me having s-on and rooted is affecting it in any way.
Ics is ice cream sandwich new android OS hopefully coming to the EVO 3d early 2012.

[Q] htc evo 3d (gsm, hboot 1.49.0018) unlock bootloader without htc dev?

Hello, is it possible to unlock my bootloader without using the htc dev method? This because i don't want to lose my warranty! I know that after unlocking my bootloader i will need a different bootloader to root my device, this is no problem for me.so is there a possibility to unlock my bootloader without htcdev.com? My hboot and type of device can be found at the title of this thread.kind regards, a proud htc evo 3d owner( i have the device for two weeks now)!
I had the same problem. EVO 3D GSM + HBoot 1.49.0018
The Revolutionary method doesn't work and as far as I'm aware, the only way to unlock your bootloader is via the HTC Method. I have done this and rooted my device. I am now going to attempt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495657
Sorry I can't be of more help. Extremely new to this!
thank you
Thank you for your reply! You have also vodafone, i think? Because of the hboot and the link you send me.thanks vodafone, for making it hard to root my device! I really won't use the htc method because i want to keep my warranty!
My phone is unbranded.
I was a little uncertain as to whether to root on the HTC Method but I just took the plunge. For me the ability to root surpassed the usefulness of the warranty.
Veevoh, how did you root your phone? I have an unbranded HTC EVO 3D GSM HBOOT 1.49.0018 with unlocked bootloader via HTC Method, but i just can't find a way to root. Did you downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.0007?

If your already unlocked via htc method then just flash a recovery, make a nandroid, and then flash a Rom. Take a look at the gsm development thread and spend a few hours reading to give you a better understanding of what the risk's and benefits are of rooting. Also as I previously mentioned if your unlocked and s-off and your on a stock Rom after you flash your recovery then just to gain root you can flash the Su.zip and then hit up the market and download busybox and you will have root on your stock Rom. I'd highly recommend making a nandroid backup as soon as you get your recovery on your device. Then make a copy of it and keep it on your pc just so you always have a stock backup to revert to and a copy of it.

Flash the stock RUU then go into bootloader and enter command fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 and you will be s-on again.
Note i have not tested the above command as dont want to start all over again but it should work.
Best way for me was
1. Root using htcsupertool
2. Then run ruu then root again
3. This turns your bootloader to .007
4. Then use I/O rev to s-off and install clockwork
5. Install your Rom
6. If you want to back to stock
7. Re run ruu takes you back to stock.
8. Then take the OTA updates takes you back to .018
7. Check forum how to s-on
This method prevents the RELOCKED bootloader just says locked
Hope this helps

Nah you dont. After downgrading to .007 i just used revolutionary to gain s-off and flash the recovery. After that you can flash a superuser zip and you'll have root.
So glad i did this, feels good

Which Root method, cement and s-off to go with?

Their is so many I don't know where to go I'm on hboot 1.5 I've did the HTC dev method before on another phone in the past, so Im sort of lost right now. Any help or Links id be grateful. Thx

You could either downgrade your hboot

or check out this thread for root

Perfection, at least for me!
1. You need a Original Rom to downgrade to Hboot 1.49.0007
2. then you can use h**p://revolutionary.io/ to unlock and S-OFF you HTC Evo 3D
3. Install with recovery a custom ROM you like
thats the way it worked for me.
The only thing you need is to find a original ROM which has the Hboot 1.49.0007.
Perhaps with these hints you find some tuts . I also don't remeber in every detail how it works, sry man
Hmm, you can use the HTC Supertool, but i dont konow if its work with hboot 1.5
I have Hboot 1.49.0018 and used it to root my phone, then i used the app "rom manager" to flash the recovery. And if you used the HTC method (as i did) your bootloader is unlocked, even if there stands S-ON.

[Q] Help to s-off and unlock hboot 1.49.0011

Hi guys
I m having htc evo 3d with hboot 1.49.0011,s-off and locked
i have unlocked before using the htc dev method but the problem was i couldnt install ics rom but only can install gingerbread roms
So i relocked it, now i want to do the whole process again and also s-off my bootloader as my bootloader was s-on the previous time i unlocked my phone.
I do find a lot of tutorials but i cant understand them. Can u guys link me and post me about simple tutorials on how to downgrade ,s-off and unlock my phone.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I m a gsm user.
Are you GSM or CDMA? I've only worked with CDMA, but if you are s-off, I would flash the eng hboot from xHausX. Do you have a recovery as well, or no?

You edit the dvblk mount and write 1.20.707.3 instead of the 1.22.707.3 using hexeditor?
Also have adb installed? Uninstall HTC sync?
Also make sure during the adb commands your getting pushed through no errors, otherwise might have to mount system read/writable with es file explorer.

Hi, you need to run adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p31 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p31.img before we can use the hexeditor to change the version on the phone right? But in the first place I can't even get my PC to recognise my phone, so how am I suppose to move forward to the next step which is to change the version?
I got the error message "Device not found".
Please advice. Thanks.

You should read that you must have 1.49xx hboot and s-off in order to flash cyanogenmod. HERE you can find all the RUUs for the 3d.
THIS is probably what you need. Just download it on your computer, run it and let the phone run again. I think you have to relock your bootloader with "fastboot oem lock" command.
