U can also try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437426

if your phone is indeed 5830 and not 5830i you will have no problem
Just download from samfirmware the version that suits u best
Put phone in dowload mode
Set up ODIN in the correct way (If its One package select one package, in the OPS put the cooper.ops, and start, if is multiple put the files in the correct order PDA, PHONE ...)
Hit star wait till odin says pass!
If you get in a bootloop just go to recovery wipe cache and do factory reset
Good to go! as simple as this!

Honestly the easier thing would be to just flash a Stock based ROM like Stocklite V6...it is basically stock from the factory...just all the bloatware has been removed so it's better than stock and I can assure you everything works.

Redownload the Odin package

[Q]Odin error

I tried several times to install the VillainRom on my Galaxy Ace but every time this is what happens:

and I left it once once till it reached half an hour with no change, so what's wrong
ps my firmware is S5830JXKA3
Did you start ODIN as administrator?
The start thread behavior is normal.
If you fw not kpe. You should have kpe first. Or flash all file from villainrom. Not just pda!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
1st, run as administrator (if using vista / 7)
2nd, use other cooper.ops file
install this driver http://goo.gl/YpgvN and run ODIN as Admin (right click menu - run as admin)
it maybe that kies is runnin in the backround, use task manager to kill it and flash all files that is given in the villain rom file
I am also having problem to upgrade from 2.2.1 to GB.
I have downloaded and installed the driver and make sure no kies is running but yet I still have problem in upgrading my ace to GB

Hey!
Try to change the USB port. And dose the ODIN detect you phone? Dose you phone in "DOWNLOAD" mode? To put you phone in download mode, shut down the phone. Now hold together THREE buttons(HOME+POWER+VOL.DOWN). Hold them until you see in screen DOWNLOADING. Now you can release buttons.
CHEERS!
Finally the problem is from the PC, probably some USB device clash with odin. After using another PC, I am able to flash my ace now.
Thanks again.
When I flash the firmware for my galaxy ace with odin, it comes out "an unnamed file was not found".
The list of files in the tar file is as following,
$ tar tvf S5830DXKC1.tar

Code 5 is usally because Kies is running. Run task manager and go to Processes > end all *kies* processes. Turn off phone, remove battery, hold Vol D, Home and Power, insert battery and connect to PC.

You were NOT supposed to UPDATE from your SDCard .
You're supposed to use "install zip from sdcard" instead of "apply update" .
tnx master russ18uk now is running install
EmoBoiix3 i think the option install zip from sdcard not available on gingerbread
i don't remember wha't is the option i was used to running the update

Sounds like a nasty brick. You may have to lie to service center (say kies crashed when updating. If they ask how much ram your PC has say 1gb (kies needs 1.5 to function properly)

Ace S5830 wont load problem plz help

hello everyone, I have a S5830 wont load past the SAMSUNG screen and after being there for a while the phone starts loading over, i have tried to flash it using Odin 4.38 and this firmware from xxx.samfirmware.c0m/ I used the firmware in one package and I also put the phone in DL mode
when I plug the phone to pc it says detected and the yellow square to the left comes up with (com 14).
After adding package and OPS and click start this is what I get and it doesn't pass there. Help would be greatly appreciated

Make sure that you are in the Download Mode and not on Emergency Download Mode. You go to Emergency Download Mode by holding down Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it loads a screen that says "Emergency Download Mode" and you go to Download mode by holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button in which it does load the correct download screen with the yellowish message that say "Downloading…". If you are in the Emergency Download Mode, odin will stop the flashing with that error. Also make sure the ops file is named as "Cooper_v1.0.ops". Wrong name can also give this error. Do post the result. Hope I Helped
