Phone doesn't recognize sim card - HTC Radar

My sister bought this phone off crag list and it look brand new, it even have the original cover plastic. But when we put in the tmobile sim card, it doesn't see it. Do we have to do a reset or something , anybody have any advice ? Cause I'm pretty new to wp.

I had this happen to me too. Call T-Mobile and tell them you need to activate an HTC Radar. What they do is associate the phones IMEI number to your sim card. I don't know why they have to do this with this phone and not other phones, but you do. Also, your sim may not work if it's an older sim. They make ask you for the model number for your sim card and replace it for you.

LTE sim cards?

Ok, so I'm totally used to CDMA, obviously, but I've lived abroad and appreciated the beauty of just swapping SIM cards in when you're in a new country.
Is it possible to just swap SIM cards like GSM cards, or do you still have to call Verizon to activate? The reason I ask is, my father and I were going to swap Thunderbolts, but I didn't have time to call Verizon and do the ESN swap thing. Could we just have swapped SIM cards?
SIm card
SIM cards are for GSM technologies.... Verizon LTE is a GSM tech... And yes thats the theory, with Verizon announcing some day you will be able to use other networks LTE SIM cards in VZW phones. Sim card in your fathers phone gives you access to his google account and contacts.. unless you have transferred all google contacts to your SIM card.
It will only work with the sim you are given for the TB.

Got it. So the SIM is tied to the ESN somehow? Either way, they don't work like GSM sims.
they would most likely if the phone were entirely gsm, but since it's not. Like if you ruin the one you have, the only way to get a new one is directly from verizon and they can only be activated for the phone they are first put into.
dude no one here knows what they are talking about. if you swap sims with your dads phone then it should work fine. the phones will activiate with the respective phone number tied to your sim card. that is how you activate a replacement device as well. i just took my sim from my old phone and put it in the new phone and that is it. works JUST like GSM

If that was true, I wouldnt have to replace my SIM card both of the times Ive sent my phone in for repairs. My service is still on, just switched to a different phone. The verizon rep I spoke with yesterday(One of the few that actually know what she was talking about) confirmed that the moment that a phone gets disconnected the sim card gets retired. I dont know why, and I dont understand it, but thats the way VZW is rolling with it for now. As long as I dont have to pay for it, IDC. lol.

that must be because whoever is disconnecting the phone is killing the sim also for some reason. i have used the same SIM card in 2 thunderbolts and a samsung charge.

That's just it. That rep doesn't know what they're talking about. If you get a replacement TB, nothing should be changed on the account - no phone gets "disconnected." You simply move the SIM to the new phone. Sounds like that rep thinks it should be like a CDMA phone, where the account is changed to reflect that the phone's ESN has been changed when swapping phones.

Did you activate an old phone while waiting for repairs? That's really the only way your SIM would be deactivated.

I did. Im still unsure of why they retire my sim though. All in order to send me another one that will sit here till my phone gets back. Why not just put it on hold or put it on temporary hold?
Sim cards work in any phone that will take them.
Just to put this one to bed--they work just like GSM SIM cards. I swapped my SIM between another Thunderbolt and a Charge, and it worked perfectly every single time.

Network Reject - HELP please

Hello Problem solvers
I am going to buy an HTC Amaze , but there seems to be a little problem with the network of the phone , below i have stated down the exact lines what the seller has told me. Please suggest should i buy this or not.
The seller says :
"I bought it from someone and everything was unused. I put my sim card in and it worked for a few hours then it was unable to read my sim card. My sim still works on my other smartphone, but I do not have the time to find out what is wrong with the phone. I've tried other sim cards from other phones and also did NOT work. Seems like it won't connect to the network no matter what. Maybe the phone is locked or is not able to be used for whatever reason. Everything on the phone works perfectly as new. WIFI, apps, camera camcorder, games, etc. Everything.. Just doesn't seem like it will get any signal from the service provider. Possibly someone will know what to do and can fix or modify it. Can use it like it is or take it for parts, I don't know. Comes with all original equipment: USB cable/charger, manuals, and will have 8GB micro SD card. AGAIN, THE PHONE IS NOT CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK (SERVICE PROVIDER) AT ALL."

He later adds on to his saying :
UPDATE: Actually, the phone recognizes when a sim card is in, but will not connect to the network to make a call or connect for data. I am almost sure nothing is wrong with the phone and possibly could be a problem with the network or service provider.

Has anyone experienced this before? Please let me know what should i do, The price in which he is giving it to me is very good. If there are any solutions for this problem , please mention.
Thank you forum!
Regards,
Hmmm....the phone is like a month old. It is still under warranty. Why isn't the seller getting it fixed rather than take a loss? I'd be very suspicious. It could have been reported stolen and locked down. My spidey sense is tingling.
My replacement did this, I went into network settings and chose network, search automatically and wala problem solved. But still don't hand over the green until your sure.

Could the IMEI be blacklisted?
You have to call Tmo and have them register your sim. I had same prob when I first got amaze.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA App
it might also be the sim card ... i know when i bought the amaze from the tmo store they said it will not take the sim from my old phone and that it only works with the sim card that came with the phone...

My telephone number not showing in device setttings

>>settings
>> about device
>>status
M Phone number is showing as 000000000000
any ideas how to change this?
I think it's carrier dependant, can u tell us on what network you are? I'm not 100% sure though
all the s3's I've seen don't show it in Lebanon
I'm on t-mobile uk which is now showing as ee, (everything everywhere)
its a SIM card thing I put my SIM in wife's old iPhone and now on gs3 shows number

Yes it's written on SIM card, some roms can't write it down on the card, the solution if you absolutely want this is to put your card in an old/another phone.
With my previous phone the number wasn't readable, now I have it.
Thanks for the replies, its not that important, but i may swap the sim over sometime .....
thanks
Hi
I have the same problem, I did put my sim in a different phone and edited the number but it still shows the wrong one in my phone. Any solutions?

[Q] not accepting sim cards (no sim, emergency calls only)

so i'm trying a fix a galaxy note att branded i717 note. my friend bought it craiglslist. here's what happens.
phone simply will not accept ANY att sim card. either "active" sim or fresh unactivated sim. same goes for tmobile sim cards. in both cases it will show "no sim/emergency calls only".
fine. i was under the impression that it should ask for some unlock code after inserting tmobile sim card, but it doesnt do that. clearly other MVNO sims didn't work either. note - both att and tmbole sims are 89014xxxxx
interestingly i had a foreign sim card (NON 89014xxxx....). => this works! instead of "no sim/emergency calls only", i simply get no service but no errors either!
WHAT is wrong with this phone? blacklisted? hardware fault? flash a different rom? any ideas?
Possible Sim card port damage...
A common problem with this device ....however, without knowing the history of the device, it becomes very difficult to diagnose...
But I'm leaning toward the Sim slot being damaged, as we have several threads on the subject ...g

well there's your problem, i hope you didn't spend too much on it.
I think he paid around 310. But the phone was in like new condition. If the SIM slot us damaged then why it would only reject tmob, att ones? It should reject every sim.
thx for ur responses. Appreciate it

I think I can help. Try resetting your phone, reinstalling the rom, or there is a bad thing going on with your phone. Are you sure itbis from AT&T? If the SIM card slots do not work, gently use a cloth to clean them. Is it a micro SIM card or did you cut a regular one down yourself? thank me if anything I mention fixes the problem.
hi, thanks everybody for posting. some strange things happening.
I tested two Tmobile MVNO (ultra and ptel) sim cards, both work! I didn't try simple mobile yet.
i found ONE tmobile and ONE at&t sim card that gets read properly. then i tried few other att/tmobile sim cards and they are rejected. !!!??!!!
I think i need to go the debug mode and change some settings there? *#197328640#
clearly sim slot is not broken. imei is not blocked.

ROM that makes phone work on AT&T network

I have a Moto E LTE 2nd Gen XT1526 with ResurrectionRemix Mv5.6.5 Marshmello 6.0.1_/22-MHC19J
I need a ROM that supports AT&T SIM cards.
I have an AT&T SIM card but when inserted into the phone it is not recognized.
How do I go about finding and flashing a ROM that will recognize and utilize my AT&T SIM card giving me service?
In other words, can this phone be used as an AT&T phone?
Thank you
I'm not an expert but I think that had nothing to do with a rom you would have to flash the radio or base bands to make it work with at&t.
Okay, how would you do that?
I know how to "flash" for the most part, but I'm not the builder of this phone.
I did try a few other things that gave me a few more questions though.
I recently got the phone to replace mine that had broken. I requested a SIM card from AT&T because the replacement phone (the MotoE) takes a larger SIM card. When placed in the phone, and after restarting the phone, I got "No Service" and in the "Settings/About Phone/Status/SIM Status" no phone number or other information.
I did try a completely different SIM card that I found just laying around and placed it into the phone. Although I got no current service, the phone did recognize the SIM card and it did give me a phone number (even though it was inactive.)
Now I have no idea what carrier the second SIM card is on, but "IT" obviously worked just by inserting the card.
Here's the thing that's got me confused. This ROM looks as though it can do "ANYTHING" I might want it to do to a phone. I'm almost certain that it probably has the ability to use any carrier I want it to, it "IS" rooted for Apps and ADB, and does seem to give pretty good control over the phone's systems, but I just can't seem to figure this whole problem out,
Again, if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
