[Q] Arabic (RTL) Support - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi guys im about to buy the device i just want to make sure if it supports arabic (read/write)
I know that it has arabic keboard but are the letters connected to eachothers when you type something? or each one by it self?
if any one can do me a huge favor just open your browser and google search "jazera net" and take a screen shot of the first page that comes up and post it here so i can see how arabic is displayed on the device.
Thanks you guys ad your help is really appreciated
Cheers,

You made me wonder!

that's the video that made me think about buying the SXS, as i thought it sure has arabic support, but the video only proves that it could type arabic but not sure about reading it properly.
But i guess it also should support RTL too, having no arabic in select language means it can't display arabic in its menus but doesn't mean it has no support for proper reading.
Ofcourse we should make sure with someone who actually owns the device!
I will go check it out soon and will report back!

Connecting letters depends on your rom. At very first check out that your browser shows Persian sites like gooya correctly or not, then try MultiLing or SlideIt Keyboard. Its available in market and you don't need any font to install.
By the way you need to flash your phone with cyanogenmod rom to read Persian letters connected together (at least I experienced it by myself).
For non-cm7 ROMs, the letters may not appear connected.
1. Use Opera Mini browser for browsing persian / RTL sites: it render the text with connected letters but still there are some block characters due to non-supported unicode type character. but text is readable
2. Use "Mirsal" (you can find it in Android Market: and use this app for messaging, it works perfectly and support RTLs with arabic/persian/urdu language keyboards
Hey guys,
This dude here introduced a font:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689811
I already rooted my SGS II i9100G.
The problem is I have no idea about steps he said to install that font.
Currently im using Juffo Rom which support persian language but has some issue:
it shows "گ" instead of "ک" and the letter "ژ" has not been defined.
any help?
techopedia.net/files/Iranian%20Sans-irsans.tar.bz2 is a full featured font for Persian (that as far as I know designed for android by farsitel group). I suggest you to use it
i am gonna help you out this time only coz you are kermooni
i assume you want farsi on a sense rom, 2.3 cyano already has support
the whole font thingy fits into two categories:
1. web based font processing (web browser and gmail and such)
if rooted: just search "brightidea" in market, install and run the patcher and you are good to go. i made a request to the author and he made the patcher compatible with any wildfire sense 2.2. credits to him
if not rooted: as mentiond your best bet is to use a browser like opera, unfortunately gmail wont work and i dont know any workarounds for it.
2. frame work (system menus, contacts, sms and such)
if rooted: search for DK CUSTOM rom in development section, there is an optional patch that takes care of the problem.
if not rooted: i am afraid there isnt much to do to remedy this, at least there is no way to take care of the problem completely.
you can use multilang keyboard to type in farsi regardless of all this, the above solutions are to properly read farsi.
side note: the reason you can easily type well connected words with multilang is that it takes care of the processing and connecting them before saving them, thus there is no need for the operation system to reprocess them again, it just reads them and shows them as they are. but if you try to read words that have not been processed by a program like multilang, like the text on websites then since these ones are not processed to be shown connected the OS just reads them as they are thus you see separated letters. the above solutions help OS to be able to process and connect the letters on its own.
let me know if you need help

[Solved using CM7 rom] Arabic on Photon

I need Arabic working on the Photon. Now we are rooted, unlocked, and have the full stock source. Who can take up the task of fixing Arabic?
Have you tried to download it from the market? I think the gingerbread keyboard supports a quite a few languages. Not sure if Arabic is one of them. But that's an idea.
It's not an issue of keyboard. The keyboard is fine. But the Photon, like every other Android device sold in the US, comes with a ROM that prints arabic characters disconnected and in their standard form. To Arabic readers/writers, it is almost impossible to read.
People in the dev forums have been making Arabic roms (and CM also supports Arabic) but the Photon has no such roms available.
It's a world phone that ironically can't display world languages.
Well once CM7 is released I am sure that issue will be fixed then.

I'm sorry to be annoying, but isn't there anyone that can patch the Arabic on the stock rom? It doesn't seem that reasonable that the dev community can't take this on without CM7.
Let me rephrase the question. Those that have the Alien and Star Wars builds.... have you found that Arabic is fixed?
(SOLVED) Arabic Working using CM7 Rom from cybik
Hi all,
I am just reporting that I got the Arabic working using the CM7 Rom from Cybik. It's working with GSM so can be used in the Middle East if needed. Arabic in all apps is fixed in CM7, Gmail, Messaging, Skype, etc.
However, I would like to use Arabic in one of the more stable ROMs (even though CM7 is awesome) because it seems this ROM saps battery life like a MoPho.
Will try Alien, Star Wars, and Homebase to see if any fix Arabic. None of the authors of those ROMs mention fixing Arabic so unfortunately I need to try them all.
Hd mini arabic Rom
dear anoob4eva
i hope to get ur links if u plz
Thank u

[Q] Arabic support problem for the Razr?

I have currently installed Smart Keyboard Pro and have the English and Arabic languages enabled for this keyboard. When I type in Arabic the words are disconnected. For example when I mean to type something like this مرحبا it comes out like this م رح ب ا all the letters are disconnected.
Is there a solution for this? My Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc supports the Arabic language correctly I was hoping this would as well. Also if it matters I am using the GSM Rogers version.
Thank you for your help.
Here in middle east, the rom is modified to be compatible with Arabic and Persian. You may want to find and download the middle eastern rom. That works perfectly fine for me.
Why couldn't Motorola just give us an option? That is pretty stupid of them. Is there any file or application I can use to give me the same functionality? I don't want a to put a new rom on my phone just yet.
Motorola doesn't give a f*ck about localization in android. We as Turkish have the exact problem when it comes to native language support. I even started a thread in official motorola supportforums, their moderators just ignored our concerns and didn't even care to give an answer.

The thing that I find strange is that they can clearly do it if its available in the Middle-eastern regions. Why not just put the option in the other models as well.
I heard android 4.0 has native support for Arabic and other RTL languages, Could it be supported then?
I just bought the Rogers RAZR and now I'm debating grabbing the Galaxy Nexus instead.
Easy
Root your razr and get the arabic room by recovery

Just search play store for "japanese keyboard" there are a few, I have used easy Japanese keyboard before to play around with.
Edit: you do need to know hiragana and katakana at least to use it, it's not like the MS IME on windows, just thought I would mention that.

I think the best keyboard might be multiling keyboard. You may have a try . It has lots of language inside

Thanks for the advice but i really like the Samsung keyboard so i was really hoping i could add the language to that.
also apologizes for the key bored bit I blame spell checker.
i will download one unless any one knows of a ROM that has one in the Samsung bit or a way to add a language i asume it must be possible as the phone is sold in japan.
Thanks for all your advice
I use the official Google Japanese IME, it works well. Othewise, Simeji Keyboard works good aswell.
Thank you very one for your help
I have settled on the official IME one looks ok but i am sad Samsung don't support Japanese but they do every other language
Thanks for the help if mod finds please close now

Yeah, no Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Persian...
But they have a lot of other languages. The Samsung IME is not bad though.
There is a Japanese language set available for the native Swype keyboard in the S3.
You just have to download it in the settings menu.
the thread is five months old, c'mon
