[Q] Cannot restore music.apk with Titanium Backup Pro - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Used Titanium Back apps for several months. Had no system problems. Needed a bit more internal memory free and decided to uninstall the stock gingerbread music app ( which i backup and then I uninstalled it) because I use other music players and it has been listed as being safe to remove w/o system probs.
Samsung galaxy y
Stock 2.3.6 Froyo ROM
Before doing anymore uninstalls I wanted to see if i could restore this. Titanium Backup Pro just hangs indefinitely when trying to restore the stock music.apk app. Have to kill it. Using Root Explorer and ES File Manager, I am able to see the app in the system/app folder after doing this but it does not show in the app drawer.
What I've Tried:
1. Contacted Titanium Support. Great guys and very helpful. Cannot stress this enough and the app is awesome. They suggested taking the apk from the backup files and moving it using adb.
Result: Moved the file but would not show up in app drawer.
2. Found the stock music.apk in system/app folder using Root Explorer
Result: Tried rebooting. Did not work. Tried factory reset from Privacy Menu. Still not in app drawer.
please help guys!!!!!!!!!!!! how to fix this????

Have you tried clearing the data for Music app? When I've restored apps with Titanium, sometimes the data is corrupted or something and I have to clear the data.
You can always try uninstalling it and pushing a new music program with adb.

[Q] How to delete SGS-2 system applications !!!

Yes there is, it's called Freezing and Unfreezing. Freezing removes the app from your phone. But the file remains on there, in case problems occur, that way you can unfreeze and return the app to its normal state.
Be aware that deleting the wrong file can lead to a non booting phone so Backup .

Seems you have tried the free version, the Pro version has the Freeze and Uninstall feature, but yes, do make sure what you are Uninstalling, I always recommend Freezing an app but not Uninstalling.

I have rooted my phone, installed Superuser etc and I'm using Android Mate to delete a trial app called GFG 2011 but can't delete it.
The program was installed along with other apps but after trying to delete it without success I tried to move it to the delete bin and it ended up replacing the green phone icon on bottom of screen and put the green phone icon back with the rest of the apps.
With Android mate I can access system/app and tick GFG 20011 (Good Food Guide 2011) then select delete sometimes message says it is successfull but app is still there.
Any Ideas how to remove this blasted app? Would I have to use titanium pro?

[Q] Titanium Backup apps greyed out on restore

Help,
Found similar topics but no real solution.
Was on Wolf v6s. Backed up all my apps. Went back to stock with SEUS, installed titanium restore and choose batch.
All my apps are greyed out! I can't manually restore them. it just says: What would you like to do? and no buttons to click. They are stored on SD/titaniumbackup
No problems restoring my messages, wifi connections, ...
Please don't tell me that it's lost cause I really need them.
What titanium version do you have? Pro or root? If you have pro can you try root.
If thats not working then go
Settings>Applications>Titanium Backup>and select clear data or cache
If thats still not working, uninstall then install again.

I just have root. Clear cache didn't do anything cause I had to reinstall titanium after full wipe.
Reinstalling also didn't do a thing, cause i just installed it after wipe.
I'm still hoping
Use root explorer or astro file manager. Go to sd files, open titanium folder, and either install from there or cut and paste to data/apps then reboot.

How do you remove apps from Optimus V after obtaining root using command prompt?

I have root access now by using Gingerbreak installed on my optimus sd card so now I need to find the correct procedure to removing them from my command prompt on my computer. What are the steps and then what are the commands to remove apps from my Optimus V ?
thanks in advance
I have found a more automatic way of removing the bloatware. I downloaded root explorer and moved the app files from within the system->app to my sdcard. That way if I ever want to I can move them back.
The guy above me is correct as well but E.S file explorer is a free app with no ads and does everything as root explorer and looks better while doing it.
Click menu enable root settings/mount then long click the app you want to delete
I prefer not to delete but simply "move" to sdcard so that I can bring it back if need be.
or you can use titanium backup
Before you move anything make sure they're safe to remove, as in won't affect other apps. Having a backup won't hurt too. Many apps can uninstall system apps, among them Titanium Backup, Gemini App Manager, Link2SD or file managers with root access such as Root Explorer($), Ghost Commander, ES File Explorer and File Expert.
A safer way is to freeze the bloatware using Titanium Backup Pro($) or Gemini App Manager rather than deleting. You aren't likely to be using the space in system memory anyway.
I like using the Harmonia ROM, but I have an S Screen, so I also use the Xionia Anykernel 14 with a button switcher, so it functions GREAT so far, and none of those crappy preloaded bloatware apps, but if I ever need to get back to the original OS, I can nandroid restore my backups of my old system.

Restoring system application

So I accidentally uninstalled system application using titanium backup pro. Now when i try to restore it (I took a backup right be I uninstalled) it just sits there "restoring App+Data" indefinitely.
The app i uninstalled was "Search Applications Provider" (I was meant to uninstall "SamsungAppsUNA2"; i just slicked on the wrong thing)
I've done the following and it has't helped:
* Ensured that USB debugging is on
* Tried setting "app processing mode" to -> "Auto, Indirect" as suggested elsewhere
* Rebooting
This still hasn't helped, it just sits "restoring" forever...
What options do i have?
Can i reinstall from the APK if i can somehow get it?
p.s. I'm using the I9100XXLPQ (Official Final Build) ICS ROM from Faryaab's thread
I'd reflash the rom. Restoring system apps is problematic at the best of times, usually end up with FC's. Try flashing it over the top of what you have now, and if that causes issues, do a clean install.
What do i lose when i re-flash the rom?
Launcher shortcuts? Sms?

If you have Titanium Pro backup than probably you will use the widgets on your launcher. SMS should be in backup. I would do another backup beforer flash, so that your data backup is fine
Two options...
Copy the apk in your Titanium folder... Rename it and move the copied file to your /system/app folder and reboot
Option 2 is to extract it from the ROM's zip and adb push it to the /system/app folder and reboot...
You may need to fix permissions afterwards using either option

Reinstalling System Apps

So I rooted my LG L769BK and removed a few system apps with Uninstaller from the Google Play store. I reseted my phone and it works fine but I can't get back the system apps I wanted to be restored. I tried using Root Explorer and had no luck. Any suggestions what to do? I have the original Camera, Music and keyboard backed up on my SD card which I want to restore.
