Home icon on toolbar - Possible? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Is it possible to create a "Home" icon on the toolbar next to, say, back icon? Only reason I am seeking that is then I won't have to physically hit the Nook button every time.
P.S.: It is a fully rooted Nook tablet.

How about Button Savior?
I cannot specifically answer your question, but I would recommend Button Savior for the time being. I used it while rooted with NT and still use it with CM7. I prefer not to use the physical buttons unless I have to.

If you install CM7, you can customize the menu bar to include your choice of home, back, notifications, search and settings buttons.

Yes, you can add a home icon to the toolbar by modifying the systemui.apk. Here is a link to the thread in the app section.

Attached is a screen capture showing my home screen with the home icon on the status bar.

If you are just using a rooted nook, the home manager app can provide similar funtionality (albeit with a couple more clicks.)

[Q] Status bar ?

I used the the auto nooter to root froyo however I am having a bit off a problem with the controls of how my nook behaves. I think it is the status bar which contains my menu and I am unsure how to fix this because I do not even know how to determine if I have a preset to full screen. So, what annoys me about this is the kindle application when i start reading a book I have to exit the app all together by pushing home when I am finished because the menu hides. In my settings I do not have auto hide checked for my status bar, so maybe it is a full screen setting issue ? Any thoughts on this ?
Set up softkeys to use double press home "n" key to bring up softkeys... then you can quickly press the "n" key and have softkeys back button available.
I just discovered 'Button Savior' which seems to work well also. (Running CM7.1RC1)

N Button Findings

Hello All,
First let me start by staying thanks to the individuals responsible for rooting this device. I'm really enjoying this tablet.
Now on to the topic:
The n button originally pulls up the Barnes & Noble bar when clicked. Now what I found out is that when installing a launcher like Go Ex and hiding the status bar in the settings of Go Ex, the n button now disables the B&N bar on single click and pulls up your default HOME on double click.
Please check and post what you concluded.
I dont see that option in the settings. Which section is it under?

Didnt work for me...i have home switcher thought
Rooted, with Zeam launcher and Button Savior installed.
The "n" button brings up the B&N bar, and the Button Savior home soft button brings up Zeam. Loving it!

Click to collapse
It's under preferences in go launcher, not the actual settings.
Its under the Go launcher Prefrences, then Screen settings. I noticed it only works lets say when you open the app drawer, then by hitting the n key twice it takes you to your default home. But when you are using an app the n key seems to open up B&N bar still.
Now what I think is by disabling or hiding the status bar completely it will reconfigure then n key to use for home. If someone can write a simple app or hack that hides the status bar completely then it would always work I think.
Anyone?
I also use button savior with other launchers.

[Q] How to make the bottom bar appear while in an app?

So I was able to install CM7 on my nook tablet (love it btw) without any problems. It runs great but I have a small user question.
The bottom bar that allows navigation and options in apps. The bar with the menu, back, search buttons that had to be coded into the rom. There is an option when playing a game or inside another app that will allow you to minimize this menu. Is there a way to get it to come back while still in the app?
Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I have no idea what the technical term for this bar is, so I didn't know what to search for.
Thanks
Settings -> cyanogenmod settings -> tablet tweaks -> choose unhide button
I have it set to home (the n button) so that hitting it once brings the menu back and hitting it again brings me home.
Thank you! Exactly the info I needed!

[Q] Repurposing Home Button to show Notification Menu?

Dear Androidsters
I'm very much enjoying my Samsung Galaxy Note (running stock Android 4.1.2, rooted), and it's waaay better than all my previous 11 palmtop computers put together.
I have four apps which effectively make my Notification Menu into my app launching mechanism [1], since I find this to be quicker and more efficient than the default Home Screens paradigm. I have explored using various app-launching Home Screen replacement apps (such as GO Launcher EX, 3D Home, etc., &c., all of which stick to using the Home Screens paradigm), but I much prefer to use the Notification Menu to launch apps.
Android is justly famous for its 'Customise Everything!' abilities, but search as I may, I cannot find a way of customising a single press on the Home Button. The final finesse would be that, in any and every situation (including when apps are running full screen, where the Notification Bar method of accessing the Notification Menu is absent), a single press on the Home Button shows the Notification Menu instead of the Home Screen (or whichever replacement app-launching Home Screens app it currently launches).
So does anybody know of a customising utility app which will allow me to remap a single press on the Home Button to show the Notification Menu?
Thanks in advance for your help.
[1] Four apps which effectively make my Notification Menu into my app launching mechanism:
Simple Shortcut Panel, Launch From Notification, Settings Extended, and Notification Toggle
There is a way but I know little about button mapping, ask some app developers, they'll probably know.

[Q] Easiest way to customize nav bar with only 2 icons?

Hi! This is my first post here on xda, I wanted to know if there's an option to customize my nav bar with only two icons, I thought of asking here 'cause its been long time checking all your threads and learning from them, you are an excellent comunity!
Anyhow... As I said I wanted to know if there is a way to just put in the nav bar the "back" button (keeping its same function) and "recents" button so when I press it it shows the recent apss and when I long-press it it takes me straight to home (or the other way round, doesn't matter).
I also wanted the back button to look like an arrow (like the one of the picture i attach, similar to the windows phone ones) and the recents button to look like the normal square in the android lollipop stock version.
I've got a Nexus 6 runnig CM12.1 and even though I installed it myself, my "dev-skills" aren't great.
