[Q] Can I use nanddump raw nand dump .img to restore from Recovery or FastBoot?

I am a novice in Android and even in Tablets. I bought my first Android tablet on 18th this month, and I was curious to have backups as the Company has provided nothing at all, no backup stock images. I rooted the device, and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery, and I created backups. I have not flashed any mod/upgrade in Tablet till now and it works fine. I created nanddump oob images of all partitions from /proc/mtd. All these images are raw nand dump images, of partitions. For emergency uses and knowledge, can I flash these nanddump dumped images via FastBoot or via Custom Recovery? Will it work? Please help.

Should be as simple as this:
Find the dev block of the system partition
cat /proc/mounts
Example: system partitopn is in /dev/block/mmcblk0p16
Make a copy of the system partition:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 of=/sdcard/system.img
Copy f/sdcard/system.img rom your phone to PC
Connect your other phone in fastboot mode and flash the created system.img
fastboot flash system system.img

[SOLVED]ClockWorkMod recovery commands used

Hey guys,
Does anybody know what commands the ClockWorkMod recovery uses to generate backup images? Like when you browse to your /mnt/sdcard/Clockworkmod/backups/ directory and see your *.img files, what command is used to generate that file? I know in linux you can use dd and cat (block partition) > *.img and that would generate it, but i want to know the exact command used by ClockWorkMod recovery.
Thanks all for your time!

HELOO!?!?!?!?!!??
I take it you're looking to replicate the functionality of the nandroid backup? If so this thread contains a script to do so.
If you want to find out for some other reason, I suggest you examine the script and/or CWM source files.

How do you Emulate the Old Android Backup Roms on PC

Hello Guys,
I am having few android rom backup's from my old Xperia Arc S, Wilfire, Galaxy S.
All were rooted and saved their nandroid backup.
The need of hour is to retrieve some data out of the Roms. But I am not having any device at the moment.
So the thing I wished to do is to emulate those roms and run them on PC.
Is it possible?
Let me know.
Thank You.
Not possible
I think its not possible....
if u wanted to get android experiance on pc go to android x86
Everything is possible! The nandroid backups are actual images from the partitions of the phone. The partitions are in jffs2 format (which is a file system optimized for flash storage), what actually nandroid does is a byte-by-byte copy of them. Because Android is basically a small linux machine, you can mount these img files on Ubuntu, for example with the commands described in this site:

Go get your data!

[Q] Android system dump to emulator

Hi All,
I'm trying to launch a system dump in Android emulator. I have the dump itself ('boot_signed.img' and 'system' folder). If I am not mistaken, Android emulator requires system.img file and a couple of another .img files. As far as I understand, the dump should be packed somehow to get 'system.img' as an output. Could you please help me to clarify a solution of my problem? I use mac so I think the most part of linux tools is available for me.
Thanks in advance.
