Ice has gone missing..... - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

The Sony homepage has removed the link to info on ics updates, fingers crossed it's a sign of imminent release.

I hope so...waiting.

The ICS update for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray is come at the end of March/early April 2012. And this is here.
The second wave will begin from the end April or the start of May 2012. So, Xperia Neo users need to wait for about a month.

@all: as soon as you convince yourself that it will be late, it will be better for you. after all, all you can get is a surprise if it comes any time sooner than you thought
they are always late, not sure why you all thought it will be right on time this time.

The first wave is comming.
But at the moment, there is no certified SW for Neo V, Arc S or Ray in PTCRB. The last is 4.0.2.A.0.69, which comes in February.

Well Sony is known to be late in fw updating anyway.Btw I don't get whats with all this cannot wait till we get ICS from sony, tbh I didn't saw much improved in ICS beta rom comparing to gingerbread stock rom. Also there are other better ICS variants like MIUI,CM9 there to use if you need ICS that much and you cannot simply wait anymore that your head is gonna explode thinking about ICS
Even after Sony releasing it don't expect it to be 100% stable and bug free guys,it will take some time for Sony to release a stable ICS rom for each model,if they succeed releasing a fully working bug free ICS on first go then that might be a miracle imho.

Well i hope that they will release official ICS rom for our phones soon. The current gingerbread rom that i use (.62 build) is very stable and fast but the new features of gingerbread will be useful. What is suspicious is that it is the end of march already and there is nothing certified in ptcrb. I hope that the acquisition of Sony Ericsson by sony will not result in delay of the update for the xperia 2011 devices. After all they already released alpha and beta ICS rom so the final one should be close. Let's hope.

ICS beta was not so stable as we thought, but yes it was/is a beta, and Sony have telling that if you read good enough, they will work on the final to get more stabilty and looking where the problems can be for lag etc, so i think that the final ICS have more stability
then the beta, thats why they needed time to fix it
I hope you understand me.

I think, Sony developers (or other Sony workers) are monitoring XDA and the ROMs from ICS Beta sources. It helps them to make the final firmware more stable and fastest.

It was obvious though. Why would they remove it if they were going to release on time (or early)
No company would ever remove it just because it was released. Unless they did it late

Any news about ICS for NEO (MT15i)?

It's desperating.
till end of july if i remember correctly
but i dont think ill switch over cuz neo doesnt have the best HW for it
I was wondering that too... PTCRB still reveals the last build as 4.0.2.A.0.69, which means we probably won't see anything for the next few weeks. At the same time, even the ICS ROM for the original Arc has been approved, leaving the Neo and Pro as the two only mid to top-end phones of the 2011 lineup without an ICS build.
Judging by the leaked 4.0.4 Rom of the Xperia Pro, I would say Sony is probably skipping version 4.0.3 due to poor customer feedback. If that is the case, we should see a new build around the time version 4.0.4 gets approved for any of the other models...
Why dont you just install the neo v version....works fine on my mt15i
Just follow the instructions properly..

Wrong,i'm using AOSP rom on my Neo,i have about 200 mb free ram, true Android 4 experience and no lag at all. So,the hardware is more than enough for ICS,but the Sony rom sucks. Look here http://www.phonearena.com/phones/HTC-Desire-C_id7037 if 600 mhz and 512 mb of ram can run Android 4.0,how can you say that the hardware from Neo is weak?
just flash a stock based custom rom and see the difference, mate. I'm using KA19 on my Neo, its Android 4.0.4 and its just amazing i dont think i'll go back to stock ever.
I am running KA18 (ICS 4.0.3), will try to upgrade to KA19 later today, and it works fine in my mt15a.
I'd been wondering myself when it was coming. Totally agree about Sony ROMs being resource hogs (even more than other OEM ROMs).
I mean, what's their excuse? Designing the best possible experience? Not likely when they have to excuse the ROM in advance by saying some people better not upgrade. If they did it right the hardware wouldn't be a problem.
I give up on Sony in any case. I'm gonna just get an S3. Samsung are much faster with updates.
Hi! I have a wonderful Xperia Neo Mt15i
I'm using JJ's HYBRID ROM v2.4b with android 4.0.3 and it's wonderful!

Update on Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperiaâ„¢ smartphones
For our 2011 range, as you know, we began our Ice Cream Sandwich software upgrade with Xperia arc S, Xperia ray and Xperia neo V last month.
Now, we are happy to confirm that the remaining 2011 smartphones; Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will start to receive their updates starting from next week.
This software upgrade will be Android version 4.0.4 and the good news is that this latest version will also be made available for Xperia arc S, Xperia ray and Xperia neo V users, who received Android 4.0.3 the first time around.

[RUMORS] Xperia S getting Jellybean soon?

From what I understood by translating this with Google, we'll get Jellybean soon.
http://vnsony.com/threads/2486/
They say that the guy who told them very accurate info about new Sony smartphones(Yuga and Odin) also gave them info that there will be a Jelly Bean update in two weeks.
Well, your thoughts, gentlemen!
I think Xperia S will get support for updates up to Key Lime Pie, so it wasn't something to worry about.
Late October/early November seems most likely for JB on fujis and blues, late November for montblancs.
fujis= xperia s and arco hd
blues= xperia t tx v etc.
montblanc= xperia p u sola
that right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31991116&postcount=75
this is exciting! it is strange though that sony have kept so quiet on this release, as normally they tend to mention an update and then it comes a few weeks later? is there a reason why they haven't confirmed yet either that said handsets will be updated?
thanks

Yeah, pretty much. Those are board names: fuji - S3 based (S, Acro HD, Acro S, NX, etc), montblanc - U8500 based (P, U, Sola, Go, etc), blue - S4 based (T, TX, TL, V, not J). Expect an announcement soon.

Well I don't know about timing - on Android, Sony hasn't suddenly surprised users with version upgrades like that before, they tend to announce it in advance, and more recently, closer to the launch date as seen with the 2012 phones with ICS. This would be the tightest schedule yet, if they do announce it soon.
Previously, I wouldn't have minded much about Jelly Bean, but I was browsing a 2010 Sony Ericsson phone on 2.1 and it is MUCH faster than my 2012 Sony phone on ICS - so the aim of Jelly Bean to deliver performance and experience improvements of ICS is welcome in my book ... :good:
It's clearly going to happen. Sony have big plans to increase market share this year and promptness of updates is key to getting a god reputation. and Samsung has already got their jellybean updates rolling.....

If that's true we will have to get a new announcement before November right?
i think they left out the Sola and the U as they want to develop something special for the floating touch and the LED bar respectively. Anyway Go and P which has the exact same specs is going to receive it.
(Tries to think positive )
K900, I really want to believe you, however "due course" is an incredibly vague statement. Could be soon, as you said November, could be by end of year December near holiday season. Or it could be after their newer flagship phones receive the update. Sony should just say yes it will roll out in 2012 or no it will not roll out till 2013, I would be happier with that statement than "due course"
Just my two cents
Love my Acro S
Be positive guys
It will be much easier to port JB From P to U and Sola(Same Chipsets)
Hope that Sony Will Release It Soon.(Diwali)

awesome dissapointment by sony
might be ust me but i dont expect much from a JellyBean update from sony themselves anyway, look at all the bugs that made when they gave us ICS. Its that we got XDA developers to fix stock firmwares, remove all the bloatware and optimize them cause otherwise the stock ROMS would be pure thrash.
the upside: Camera drivers, with that CM10 should be near usable as a daily driver.
kinda funny that there was another blog posted at that link btw, Sony not updating 2011 devices to Jellybean? I mean c'mon, they are 1 year old, they seem to drop support for their devices afther 1 year or something. So that might aswell mean that afther next year the Xperia S/P/Arc etc wont get updates either. lets just hope this isnt the case.
I think they trying to do something special for both Sola and U. Both have unique features that the rest do not have.

(Sola, U, Go) 6.1.1.B.1.75 + .89 Roll-out *Update 19 April*

We know that this update was certified in early December and that some time ago Xperia P users were the first to get it. Have any other users received it? I seen many, many P users downloaded it but very few users have given updates changes, performance etc. Particularly because Sola and U users are not getting Jelly Bean I think we get to be concerned about new updates! There are so many bugs left on .54 firmware (Sola) it's really bad.
News: the .89 update which was registered for ALL NOVA THOR handsets is now being released for the U. It's probably just a matter of time for the rest of the Nova Thor handsets to get updated. Sony is known for limiting availability of new updates to manager servers.

maybe a little off topic here
I've got a Xpera Sola a couple of months ago, and it keeps random freezing and rebooting quite frequently,
at a time base of a dozen times a day, which make it unusable.
I've been waiting for new ROMs and hoping for a cure, stock 2.3s, stock 4.0s, and cm9s, but none of them works.
The only difference between stock and cm is stock do HANG/REBOOT but cm just HANG and drain battery.
While lost faith in new ROMs, I tried to figure it out myself, and here is what I found:
No reboot/hang in airplane mode (so it's the radio?)
No reboot/hand when ADB is pluged (so BAD news!)
My configuration:
Bare ROM, no additional apps.
GSM networked SIM card / no SIM card, makes no difference (I have no WCDMA card so can't test)
Wifi / no Wifi, makes no difference (maybe hang more often with Wifi on, but I'm not sure)
SD card (2G) / SD card (4g) / SD card (16G) / NO SD card, makes no difference
CPU governors, no difference
wake lock, wifi lock, accquired with terminal in cm9, still hang
Any feedbacks are welcome, need your help!
Thank you very much!

Please take a tip from some of the guys here who have bought many Sony phones...there will NOT be Jelly Bean for the Sola from Sony now that they announced the schedule!
Thing is, once JB is released for GO/P, our devs would make short work and port it to SOLA and U. And the best part (or worst, for SONY), is that these Custom ROMs would be faster and better than Sony's official ROMs.
Sad. But Nice at the same time.

I thinking .89 also will be a regional update because it will be build from the same source. So sad.

looks like we may get .75 or .89 starting from February.
