Launch camera app with camera button - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Wondering if someone can help, on my Xperia s when I am in my home screen or any other app and I press and hold the camera button it will launch the camera app.
But on my girlfriends Xperia s this doesn't work. (launching camera in lock screen still works)
Does anyone know where the settings for this is?
Thanks

Tried that, but that seems to be the settings for launching from the lock screen.

Maybe due her launcher? It isn't a different configuration on the launcher?

I may not know the answer, but it's worth trying to re-flash the unit without wiping your user data.

The same thing for me! Quick shot works good.... but many times when i press the camera button with unlocked phone or in menu....the apllication doesn't start.....i must re-press 3/4 times.

This seems to be the issue I am having, pressing a few times eventually loads the camera. Have tried reflashing, and makes no difference.
One thing I have found was that in the service menu and software info it says no file found for memory card. And touch firmware version as 6, while my working Xperia s says 7

On my Xperia S i have file for memory card (in the service menu) and touch firmware version 7 also.... but the problem with camera app happens very often!

This looks like a software issue as the camera button works perfectly fine and quick launch for the camera works everytime when in the lock screen.
I have reflashed with different versions of firmware so I guess the memory card and the touch firmware versions are physically different hardware I suppose.
But this is just really bugging me at the moment!

Do you guys hold the button for like one second? Cause the camera starts only when i'm holding it a little.
Just touching the button has no effect in locked mode or on home screen for me.

[Q] xperia x10 camera

My x10 Xperia phone's camera does not work for whatever reasons. It worked before, as for now, I had to use the app from the market to take picture (but without zoom feature).
Sorry if this thread topic had been asked.
have you tried by clickin on the camera icon instead of the button?
if is not working i might say that the app is screwed so a fw reinstall, update or if anyone sends the app to you will work

I downloaded the app called: CamerFun Free (or something like that but no zoom in feature though)
I got the camera to work but only with Touch Capture mode.

Tried it, did not work my friend. So, that was the reason why I used the TouchCapture mode now. Deleted the CamerFun app just now.
idk then, sorry for not being able to help ya more
yes what is up with my new phone ???
What the piehole??!!!!!... the same crap has happened to my camera about 2 weeks ago... and I have never flashed the phone ever.... i thought it was a drop that somehow rattled the phone....
1. I open the camera apk and when i click on the camera button the entire application turns off.... if i attempt to zoom in....nothing!!!....
2. I was forced to downloaded camera 360 pro (free of course) .. installed it just to get to take a pic...this app allows me to use the screen as a camera button.... even with this apk....camera 360 says "your camera does not support focus adjusting"....wtf!!!!
3. Does the camera.apk have a time out limit....? Where can we get the default apk back
camera fix
okay i uninstalled both camera 360 and camera 360 pro
then go to... settings ... applications ... camera and then "Clear data"
change ...capture mode ...to "touch capture" [ bypasses "faulty" camera button]
everything seems to work .... with zoom now...

[Q] Stuck back key [xperia mini pro]

Hi! I've an issue on my xperia mini pro.
More than often the back key (which is a touch sensitive key) stops working.
I can't resolve this definitely. Things I tried:
- reset settings (does not work)
- total reset (works for a couple of weeks than the problem comes back)
- killing services with android system cleaner (works sometimes, I see that maybe is related to the process "Home of sony ericsson" -the stock launcher v2.1.x)
- switched to go launcher ex (worked for a full day, the problem came back)
- prevent various apps and services to startup (did not work)
- remove various apps and services (didn't work)
- update firmware to 2.3.4 (only solved the problem of the black screen that won't unlock)
what in the world should I do to fix this tedious issue?
tnx for answers, forgive me for my spaghetti english

Can you give me the link to the rom you installed? Works for me? (italy)
Must i root the phone before installing it?
tnx

Rom is pre-rooted, you will need to unlock bootloader and flash a different kernel.
Hardware keyboard will not be working, you'll need to get the files from the CM7 stable build for this.
I would not endorse going down this route unless you want to be running CM7 anyway, and there is no guarantee it will help.

thank you! You're right: I don't want to flash the previous version just to set up cm7! Not cause I don't like it but because with the previous version of the stock kernel I was having a much more big problem: the black screen (some others had the same problem).
Maybe I'll go on this way, waiting for ICS hoping it'll fix up everything!
btw, how's my english?
Maybe u r sweating or ur finger is kinda wet when u press it,our phone is unresponsive to fluid, except u buy an active
xperia mini pro! not active!
that would be true for the settings key too!
I think is a sort of bug of the rom... I'm getting it very often! damn!
I noticed that sometimes the screen light "shakes", like a vibration, and so the lights behing the touch keys...
the light sensor reacts to reflections of the light and shadows I make when using the phone. This is a minor thing but the back key sometimes makes really hard using the phone!

[Q] Change Power Button behaviour on call in CM7?

Hey guys!
In CM7, when I hit the Ace's power button, it ends the call. I don't want this, I want the good old turn-off screen, like on stock roms. I searched everywhere and I didn't found any option to change this.
Can someone point me what can I do?
Thanks!
Setting/call setting and tick on always use proximity

I don't think the setting for the power button is in Accessibility on CM, try looking around the CM menu, I think that's where it is.

Edit: after reading your post below it appears that you do have eyes
btw i had cm7 by vo-1 and i think that option was present in accessibility even in his rom( currently i have cm7 by F.A.T )

No, I don't have eyes.
There are a few different variations of CM, and the one I used to have (I think it's the one by vo-1) had that setting in the CM menu.
Even LeWa has it

cm7 power button ends call in galaxy ace
I switched over to cm7 on my galaxy ace a week ago. Its very frustrating that the power button ends the call, i always disabled the proximity sensor in stock firmware and kinda used to that.
everytime i try to turn the screen off in a call, it actually ends the call. There is no option in accessibility settings to prevent power button from ending the call (screenshots attached)
I also downloaded an app phone settings manager and that too has no effect.
please help!
Same as here. Using CM7 from vo-1. I think that I'll switch to the one provided by FAT. Can someone confirm if it has that option in Accessibility?
This is what I have. Apart being in portugese, of course.
you can download "Screen Off and Lock" from the Play Store.
this is what I did.
so when someone calls. press the home button to go to your home screen then click the shortcut you have or if not go to your app drawer and press it to turn off your screen.
I'm using go launcher so I set the application to be activated when I glide down my finger in my home screen.

Nah, too much trouble. I want it more simple, like it was on stock. And it has to be somewhere on the settings, maybe I'm just not finding it.
good luck in finding it.

I've used Grif's CM7 and in that ROM, POWER BUTTON ENDS CALL option was in Accessibility only
I don't think that I'll need this anymore. Yesterday I was using the phone when I needed to hang-up the call, and it was right in front of me, so I didn't needed to power-on screen, unlock it and then hang-up. I just hit the power-button and done!
Also, I think that I can live with the screen-delay to power-off.

My Physical Camera Button doesn't have a function [Sony Xperia - Sola]

My Physical Camera Button doesn't have a function...
I just don't really know if theres a malfunction on the physical button my sola or I just didn't know how to press it??? Double Press? Single Fast Press? It only just flicker my flash and refocusing my shots but doesn't captured anything at all....
I'm still within on my warranty stage... if I'm planning to replace it with another 2012 xperia what would be the best option.
Thanks for enlighten me

Has the problem existed from the beginning?
Try this:
Open camera. Push menu, go to second menu screen and push "Capturing method". If "Camera key only" is not selected, select it. Try the physical button now.
If it didnt work try pushing the button half way. After it has focused the image push the button all the way down.
If all this didnt help try "Factory reset" option in the settings. If that also does not help go to warranty.
Let me know how it goes.
Yup i've already experience it since the day I purchase it, Hence i'ts my first time to held an xperia phone...
Just I thought I only needed more time, exploring it...and yes i've already seen the three button options...still nothing happen....
And last i've tried the factory reset...
Still no hope at all...
Further more it become too slow now, my wifi didnt have stronger grip it always get disconnected
So i'm I think im decided now to replace it now...
But can I ask one thing among the xperia family 2012 - high end range in terms of specs... i know xperia sola is mid-range phone with extra ordinary features, cheap, a promise of an ICS update OTA.
How about xperia S? Anyone got a bad Xperience with it
I'm really looking with tough specs but suitable and stable for other third party rom.
Thank u for the help

My Physical Camera Button doesn't have a function...
For all those who think their sony xperia sola's physical camera key is not working. Actually there is no manufacturing default. it is double press camera key. The problem is that the key is very hard. On second press you have to press it really hard. there is nothing else.......
hope it'll solve you problem.
It's just really really hard to press it.
I first thought mine was broken too, but it's kind of hard for every sola.
It is a two steps Button, for the second step you have to press it with all your might, it will take a picture.
However, this gets better after a few pictures taken, but it will never be as easy as the xs camera key.
