just wondering...are you trying to accomplish a task during a phone call?

Try this app from the Play Store, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiumiu.ca.statusbar.free. Not sure if it will work because I don't have a Note yet.

I actually already have it installed. Doesn't help in this case.

I'd say that is the workaround. That's the same thing I do on my MB508.

because you are supposed to be single focused talking to your spouse/significant other while on the phone...not split attention multitasking. They have thought of everything on the NOTE.

Why don't you hit Home button, then you be able to pull the status bar down during a call...

What he said. I just hit the home button and I can use every function on the phone from there.

Brings me back to my original reply... What's the purpose? Lol. . .

It prevents you from accidentally doing things while on the phone. It's like screen unlock when you're on the phone.

Perfectly plausible situation:
Your caller asks, "may I please have Nancy's number?" and you say, "why yes, please hold while I send you the contact card via email."

Anyway The press home is known. I was just wondering if this is a bug or intentional.

why are u complaining about just having to hit the home button first? it literally takes half a second?

It gets me every time! then i say to myself DUH press home... :0p

Reboot using buttons?

On the G1 you could hold down the call+Menu+hangup and it would reboot.
Is there a hidden key combo for the Vibrant? Normally I either shutdown and then restart or I use Terminal and type "reboot"
Anyways if anybody knows please speak up. I reboot now and then tinkering.
been wondering the same thing!
Press and hold Power button long enough /in my case more then 10 seconds/

Hey thanks. It was kinda like 8 seconds for me, but whos counting.
I have not found one.. Although if you search the Market there is a "quickboot" app, you can make a shortcut on your homescreen and with a click of the icon it reboots.
This is the best alternate to it...
I hold down the volume buttons [up and down] while the phone is off. Boot up and wait for it.
^ he is talking about rebooting, not recovery.
Thanks for the tip kizer/gad13.. I added it to the sticky.
Yeah thanks for adding it to the sticky. I was going to follow up with another PM to you to make sure if there is a mention to who discovered it, it would go to Gad13 since well he told me. LOL
updated it, thanks guys.

Agree. This is what I do as well. Except I don't have a shortcut because I might accidentally click it.

What you're holding is not an iPhone, friend.
So there is no way to change the function of the double tap on the key? Perhaps to something more useful as some probably have no use for the voice command system. Can anyone answer this? And yes I'm sure the op is aware that he or she does not hold an iPhone.
if this is a problem for you, an iphone is the better choice

maybe the iphone it is a better choice for the people who doesnt want to modify their OS and work with a fixed one instead of what their want in personal use.
long press for a ****ty multitask it is not the way to go, and with 3 keys 2 click on home is the faster way until we got a multitask like windows mobile 6.5 with taskfacade or something and a click on notification bar to use.

I whole-heartedly agree, and I actually have a hard time believing that your question was met with all those snarky comments from a forum dedicated to customizing the most customizable mobile OS on the planet.
I too would like to be able to change the default home double click behaviour. I'm sure it can be done, i just don't know how. Any ideas, people?

I'll give you a sensible response, as of yet, you can't change the double tap function on the S2. It may be customized in the future but so far you'll just have to live with the annoying voice control app.
I hope that helps
Thanks for the non-sarky response

Indeed it helps. Cheers!
I've seen an application called multitasking pro that supposedly opens with a double tap of the home button. But I guess it wouldn't work on S2 yet, huh?

I don't know, Install it and see, I doubt it will work though, I doubt it'll be able to override a stock Samsung app.

Wow, way to be an ass. Never heard of Quick Desk?
All the multitasking of the iPhone from double tap, but with the option to add widgets as well?
If that's not one upping the iPhone at it's own game then I don't know what is.
I for one know I'd rather have a multi tasking app than a voice search I'll never use.
Anyway, the closest i've found is http://android.modaco.com/content/s...odaco-com/340047/take-control-of-home-button/ but this is only working on KE2 as of the moment.
Guys, what I'd like is a long hold on the BACK button to bring up the multi-task menu, this would feel like less of an effort than the long press on HOME.

If you tap on SGS2 top (Where you have 3.5 mm audio jack than place) Voice Command/Voice Talk will open (not sure which forgot)...When I 1st got mobile I have tapped there and it opened Voice Command/Voice Talk and after that I did a factory reset and using a case now when I tap it is not opening
Don't have my own sgs2 to hand, but IIRC it's in settings - motion
hi guys
i think you're supposed to activate in the settings under "motion/movement" (my phone is danish).. in there, there's an option called doubleclick/doubletap
thats where you activate this.. its not a default setting.. so a factory would reset this option.

Thanks..in Tutorial it works fine but when I try it in home screen or in menu it wont work
First you have to double press home button to get to the utterly useless voice talk app, then you can slap your sgs on the head and talk into it.

How come in all the reviews, it says you swipe up from the bottom? Is that not available on the S3?

Your right mate.
Not only this factor.
Many things like the flicking of shortcut to remove button directly removes widget /shortcut.
But, in S3 we need to drag till the button.
Then, Full Screen Calls , Deleting images through gallery by flicking then up , etc.
Google Now comes with Jelly Bean only.

Tools toggle -swipe down, uncheck tools toggle.
S6 only has 3 buttons. Multi tasking, home and back.. Android has a 4th button for settings and the floating 3 dots is the 4th buttons and only appears when an app has it in its code for the 4 settings button.
Other android phones that have on screen buttons also has this as part of the navigation

Yeah I mean it.. Sorry. But I know some rom can disable it. like VN 3.0. This button really buzzy me.
It's part of Lollipop for apps that haven't updated to the fact phones don't have hard menu button. App needs to be updated by Dev.

Not possible
This button acts as a replacement for the hardware menu button on older devices.
