No thats wrong way...
Lets take an example -
You want to flash recovery -
Command will be
Fastboot flash boot recovery(whatever name it is).img
The recovery file must lie in folder where you have the fastboot.exe
Note- fastboot boot recovery.img is only a temporary solution
And
fastboot flash boot recovery.img is a permanent solution

U have wrong drivers.Enter in folder with fastboot.exe and here u go driver what U need use
Sent from my MT15i using xda premium
I downloaded them from se website.
Now i tried with drivers i found on this page: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK.
I can install them and I see Android ADB Interface in my device manager but when i go to cmd and type adb devices it doesnt show any device.
U have to plug in usb to phone with fastboot mode
Sent from my MT15i using xda premium
My phone is plugged in and the phone LED is blue, so I think it's in fastboot mode.
Also in device manager I can see Android Phone > Android ADB Interface.
But when I go to CMD and do adb devices i get:
List of devices attached
But i see no device.
Just go to Device manager, find Android ADB Interface. Click right mouse button and choose to install new driver. You need to pick it manually, so dont point to folder with driver but "choose driver from list" now click from drive(i got in another language so I dont know exactly button name), find that new driver. After that, You need to choose Android Bootloader not ADB.
Now driver should be installed correctly. Try it.
I started completely over again on the notebook from my mother with another tutorial and I think I got it working now.
Thx for trying to help me

I have the same problem. Tried searching for the driver by selecting the usb_drivers folder. But its not detecting any drivers. Could someone help me with this step please
U have 2 search 'S1Fastboot' not 'adb devices' of manage devices and then apply driver.

The sony ericsson tutorial/drivers didn't work for me.
I started completely over on another computer with this tutorial/ and that worked for me.
Do not searhc for driver in usb:driver folder. You need to choose that driver manualy.

From the command promt, type fastboot flash boot boot.img.
No need to write any thing but first you should have to setup the driver of your phone to your computer..... you will see that one in the device manager from the properties of your PC.

Fastboot drivers installed?
Where do get drivers?
Solution. Download flastool, install it, navigate C:/ Flashtool/ Drivers and install drivers.
And after that make restart your pc.
Edit: you can flash kernel with flashtool also, and its "must be tool for android fans"

You can try using FlashTool, it is easier to load new kernels than CLI.
Just open FlashTool, connect your phone in fastboot mode, then click on the flash/lighting icon, select fastboot mode, then select kernel to flash and navigate to the folder where you have the kernel image.

[Solved] [Q] [XPM] Unable to go to fastboot mode!

Hi,
I unlocked the bootloader of my SK17i via the testpoint, now I am trying to install a custom kernel (rage kernel).
It seems that there is no way for the device to go to "fast boot mode" it goes to "flash mode". I really don't know what the is going.
I even tried the "Reboot into fast boot" option, nothing happened..
I installed without any error the drivers.exe file that was into the flash tool (OS: windows XP SP3)
The firmware is 4.0.2.a.0.62, flashtool version: flashtool-0.9.10.1
here is the log of the flash tool

First of all - Did you install the fastboot driver for your phone?
Also, did you hold down volume up button while connecting your phone to pc?
Also again,is your phone have status Bootloader Unlock Allowed : No?If yes,you can't use fastboot sorry...even without unlocking bootloader, the device with yes status can access fastboot

It seems it was an issue with the USB ports! When I connect the mobile to any USB 1.1 port (its an old Thinkpad, as my main system runs win8x64 and its not easy to install non signed drivers there..) the XP did not pop up the info that found "fastboot device" etc etc. After I used an USB 2.0 PCMCIA card everything went well!
Just to reply to your questions, the Bootloader unlock status is YES, I connected the XMP when I pressed the volume UP (notification LED was Blue) and as I mention I installed all the drivers from the drivers.exe that came with the flashtool. It seems that the device cannot connected to fastboot mode using USB 1.1 ports...
I have the same problem. I am in cm10 now with their extended kernel. But now, when I try to flash any kernel, my phone desn't connect with flashboot mood. It always connect with flash mood. I have installed proper drivers.
So, why this is happening?
Please

S-ON = No Brick.
Recovery and "img files" Don't need root.
Nothing is called adb fastboot
Connect phone in fastboot mode (Power + Volume Down > Fastboot)
Then use the "fastboot devices" command.
Flash twrp 2.8.6 http://dl.twrp.me/enrc2b/twrp-2.8.6.0-enrc2b.img
Flash a compatible kernel.
Device should be "fixed"
Search for "RUU enrc2b" . RUU depends on your CID.

Hahaahahhaa Perfect description.
@OP:
ADB and Fastboot are two different things.
You DO NOT NEED ADB.
DO NOT WRITE ADB
Write "fastboot devices" directly, and your device will show up.
And please do read all the links lloir provided.
Thank you so much guys.. @Lloir nd @Ghandour

you can go to fastboot menu with pres vol- and power
after fast boot phone, pc connect the phone.
do following
1) connect your phone to rear usb ports not front of cpu.
2) install adbdriver installer
3) run adbdriver installer & install click install
4) do the same cmd operation -
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot twrp.img
install super user
then after use flasify app to flash twrp recovery
5)if it not works on windows 10 then use linux or windows 7

Heyyo, please remember when you're in fastboot to use the command fastboot and not adb.
Ie, regular boot or recovery you would use adb devices
In fastboot, the command becomes fastboot devices
