CheeryKang 0.9.2 will not install on TouchPad - TouchPad General

Hi,
I am currently running CM9 Alpha2 ICS.
I thought of upgrading to CherryKang 0.9.2, I followed the steps below, but after install CherryKang would not come up.. I see the dual boot menu and when the cyanogen mod menu item is selected it blanks out and then reboots again and I see the dual boot menu again.
I did full wipe, Factory reset, Advanced-Dalvik Cache and also under Mounts and Storage System wipe, and lastly Wipe Cache. After install i did Factory Reset again and Wiped Cache again. Rebooted Touchpad and nothing comes up.
I also tried unsintall thru ACMEUnInstaller and then put CherryKang 0.9.2 in the cminstall directory and the install process did not install the CherryKang 0.9.2
What am I missing?
Thanks

0. 9.3 is out now, so you might as well install that.
Wipe /delete factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and install.
Make sure you have a good download (check md5).
No need to wipe /format anything after you install (I don't).
It should work.......
Don't forget to have a good backup in case things don't work.

I tried to use 0.9.3 but goes into a boot loop as before. Is it because I am also doing a "system format" under Mount and Storage?

I don't think cherry will install from cminstall since it doesn't start with update... or gapps...
I've always had to install it via CWM. I had to run the boot image cleaner and wipe everything before installing.

I did the update thru CWM. It did not work and goes into boot loop.
What else can I do

Are you still formatting system every time? Try skipping that. Just wipe caches and install ROM then gapps.

Error when installing G_Harmony_Gingerbreadv2.2.zip (4/6 update)

I followed this sequence:
1. Installed CWM (ClockworkMod_Gtab_v08)
2. Tried to install G_Harmony_Gingerbreadv2.2.zip (4/6 update)
Got this error:
...
Copying files...
E: can't symlink /system/bin/sh
E: failure at Line 3:
symlink ash SYSTEM:bin/sh
Installation aborted
Finally restored from the backup... anybody else got this error or has any ideas on what is next?
Try again? Sometimes it takes a couple of tries - someone else I know had the same problem and it worked on his second attempt.
You could try formatting, wiping data and cache, and wiping your davlik cache.
OK, managed to reproduce this - you'll need to format system, then format data, then wipe data/factory reset. Then, try installing again.

Thanks, did the following:
1. Format System
2. Format Data
3. Wiped Data/Factory Reset
Tried installing the G_Harmony_Gingerbreadv2.2.zip (4/6 update), it installed, then I tried to immediately reboot and it is stuck in the ViewSonic logo screen (for 10 mins then I rebooted again)
Next tried this:
1. Format System
2. Format Data
3. Wiped Data/Factory Reset
4. Wiped Cache
5. Wiped davlik cache
Tried installing the G_Harmony_Gingerbreadv2.2.zip (4/6 update), same thing again it is stuck in the ViewSonic logo screen on reboot.
Anything else I can try?
Hmmm, I've done this twice now, without a problem. I did the same 5 steps as you posted, then installed G-Harmony, but I also installed the GAPPS.zip before rebooting.
One thing you might try - do the three wipes again after you've completed the install.

Just to check if things exactly equal,
I have rooted with CWM Recovery v2.5.1.1-bekit-0.8
also I am using the version of ROM that was loaded 4/6
Did you use exactly these two. Let me again try what you suggested and report here.
try flashing the latest kernel after u flash the rom
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/
and make sure u do Wiped Data/Factory Reset, Wiped Cache, Wiped davlik cache before and after you flash it

Yes. The only thing I did differently was to install the GAPPS.zip and do the Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, and Wipe Davlik cache after the install was complete, but before rebooting.

The flash procedure should be:
- download and copy to SD the GSB and Google apps zip files
- restart in Recovery
- [optional] Nandroid backup, if you want to save what you have now
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe Dalvik cache
- flash GSB
- flash Google apps
- restart
try rebooting into recovery and wiping the dalvik cache (assumung you are using RA_eris recovery) and rebooting again. That's solved most of my bootloop issues.
yeah, real talk i would completely do a full wipe
-data/dalvik
-format your sd card
then
-move GSB 2.8 and gapps to your sdcard and flash.
if it still won't boot i would try and flash kaosfroyo or something and see if that works
hope you figure it out

[Q] SU binary outdated

I was unlocked and rooted, but still on the stock rom.
I finally got around to installing the Alien rom and I was greeted with this message after install.
When I go to update it force closes. Its showing 3.0-beta2 as the latest version but force closes when it goes to check installed version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you havent already done this....
Go into rom manager and run fix permissions. This can be done with Romracers CWM as well. Give that a shot and try it again.
Edit: Also did you do the full wipe routine before and after the alien rom install? Even though the ROM says its a full wipe, still do it manually before and after.
Hmm, I hadn't opened up ROM manager since this change.
It says "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su"
As far as the wipe, I did the full wipe prior, but wasn't aware of needing to do it after. So I need to wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache Partition again?
EDIT: And of course, I can't get into Recovery Mode either. If I try to root my phone again, it says the file all ready exists?
Yes, something didnt take.
1 Wipe data/factory reset
2 Wipe cache
3 Wipe Dalvik
4 Install ROM
5 Wipe data/factory reset
6 Wipe Cache
7 Wipe Dalvik
8 Reboot
So if you reboot holding down on the volume and go into recovery it doesnt do anything?
what recovery did you use to install Alien initially? Romracers,

All right, I appreciate it. But maybe a stupid question, but since I can't get into recovery mode how do I go about doing this?
EDIT: Sorry, you got me on the edit. I wasn't thinking to go through recovery via the volume key. I was trying to go through the system recovery app. As far as which recovery I used Tenfar's Bootstrap, which reading looks like I probably shouldn't have. Thanks for your help, hopefully this will cure everything.
You are going to have to use fastboot and flash the recovery image again.
Go here--->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
Ya once we got our bootloaders unlocked Tenfars CWM became obsolete. Just pick your favorite color from the link i posted and flash with fastboot.
Thats why you got an error, tenfars wont properly flash a rom.
Just follow that wipe routine after every rom you flash. Before and after flash

Help help helllllppppp

Hi Guy,
I got a BIIIGGG problem.
After doing some VERY quick research i decided to get started by rooting and installing VillainROM, which worked lovely...no probs, however because there was a lack of themes (the main reason i rom'd the phone), I was swayed to go for Cynogen.
After downloading CM7.1 and installing through CWM my phone will not boot.
I have tried to do a factory reset through CWM, wipe the cache, and reinstall VillainROM but to no effect and stupidly i didnt backup my data.
Any advice on what i can do or have I bricked my phone?
What does the screen show? Can you get into download mode or recovery? Have you tried flashing the rom twice? This worked for me in the past.
Ricey
yep i can get into recovery and download mode, but when i boot the phone no joy
Ive tried installing the rom several times
Try formatting /data, /cache and /system from CWM recovery before flashing the new ROM.
If that doesn't help flash a stock ROM from Intratech's thread in the dev section via Odin.
1st- Boot into recovery.
2nd- wipe data/factory reset
3rd- wipe cache
4th- go to advanced/ wipe dalvik cache
5th- go to mounts and storage - format/system
6th- go to install ROM from SD card - select the ROM you'd like
7th- reboot system DO NOT TOUCH MAY TAKE A WHILE
8th- let it sit for 10 minutes once its booted so all the cache can build back up
9th- reboot, set up, and enjoy!!
Hope this helps!
Enzopreme you are a legend many thanks indeed

[Q] Weird problem I'm having

Hello!
I've been having really really weird problems with my phone and CWM.
Right now I have latest stable CM installed.
Today I decided to switch to ParanoidAndroid.
I got the right ROM, but I installed the wrong google apps the 4.2.2 one.
Now I get a crash when I try to use the keyboard so I decided to flash it again.
I went back into CWM.
Factory reset, deleted cache, wiped dalvik cache.
Installed the same .zip file I did the first time for Paranoid Android except I didn't install Google Apps.
I restart the phone and it doesn't seem to have flashed, it's the one with 4.2.2 GAPPS.
I've tried wiping it 3 times.
I decided to check internal storage on my phone and this is what I see.
I don't think it's supposed to look like this after I just did a factory reset. Right?
http :// puu.sh/5gzsb.png
http :// puu.sh/5gzsR.png
(I can't post links yet)
Right now I just want to hard reset my phone and install PA.
EDIT: I just Factory Reset, Wiped Cache and dalvik restarted my phone and I'm back to the PA ROM with GAPPS 4.2.2
via CWM
go to mounts & storage >> Format system
then
wipe data/factory reset
wipe dalvik cache
flash ROM
Flash Gapps
Flash Desired kernel (if any)
Reboot
everything should be Fine
And for next time I suggest you use philz recovery, it has a clean install options in wipe data/factory reset, it should help you
