[Q] Wifi will not turn on - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have a Transformer Prime and I decided to flash CM9. I installed CWM via Rom Manager. This was my first time flashing with my prime but I have flashed many times with my droid 1 so I'm not completely new to this. Wiped data, flashed CM9 and then flashed google apps on top of that. This created a bootloop for whatever reason which I fixed using adb. (First time ever using adb). CM9 booted up fine but when it goes to ask for my account info during first bootup, the wifi wont turn on. It says "Turning wifi on" but never does anything. Let it sit for half an hour and nothing. Decided to skip that thinking it might work when everything is booted up. Suffice to say, doesn't work. Says MAC address unavailable. Bluetooth wont turn on either. Can't browse files at all due to no file manager app. Rom manager is installed but says CWM is no longer installed. Can boot into fastboot only but not CWM. Can't reinstall CM9 or stock ROM due to no CWM. Anyone know how I can fix this? I would just like to get the wifi on or get back to stock if that is necessary. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Correction, am now able to enter CWM, going to wipe and reflash.
EDIT2: Solved the issue. Figures, after 5 hours of trying to figure it out and then posting, I fix the issue in 10 minutes. Sorry for the post.

Glad you made it.
Thank you for getting through this either alone or through search. Also, thank you for sharing how you solved it. Can i also thank you again for editing the title of the thread to include a [SOLVED] tag?

[Q] Todays G Harmony ROM update killed WiFi

I just flashed to the newest G Harmony and GAPPS, but now my WiFi only shows "error" I did get an error as follows when installing in CWM:
E: Can't symlink /system/bin/sh
E:Failure ar line 3:
symlink ash SYSTEM:bin/sh
Installation aborted.
But when I rebooted every thing was more than fine, it was quick and smooooooth. But my wifi won't come on, and it keeps telling me it is safe to remove my SD Card. Do I need to flash a kernel, am I missing a thread somewhere? I've flashed my D1 enough times it screams when I try to enter recovery, and never had an error like this.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
I would try any number of kernals out there starting with some from pershoot or clemsym (sp). I always wipe delvik cache before installing a kernal, hope it helps

Thanks, the 3rd /system format did it, I think. Still having problems with a lockup when turning on USB storage (only when the external SD card is installed, though), but that's another thread.
Thanks for the help, it's nice to see support.
Hi, I'm so happy to find this forum. I've been an Android fan since I bought my G1 when it first came out. I bought my G2 the day it launched. So of course when shopping for a tablet, I had to buy Android. CompUSA sold out of G Tablets in Houston so I drove to Dallas to buy mine and I got the next to last one. I'm not a developer, I write IT documentation, so I don't normally reinstall OS stuff. But this tablet was too great a deal to pass up. I knew I'd have to get out of my comfort zone a little bit and do some installs, so I'm really thankful for this forum.
I followed the directions on the sticky thread Install ClockworkMod, a ROM, Flash Player, and the Market Fix. I can't post on that thread because I'm a noob, so I'm posting my question here.
Part One Install ClockworkMod v08 went just fine.
Part Two Install a ROM (I installed what I believe to be the latest build of Vegan) went just fine.
Part Three Install Flash and fix Android Market is where I ran into trouble. When I was installing Part One and Part Two today, I had my G2 tethering Wifi to the G Tablet. When I got to Part Three, I was on my home Wifi. Or trying to be.
For some reason, the G Tablet will not stay connected to my home Wifi now. The wireless will look for available networks, see my neighbors network, see my network, connect to my network and then immediately disconnect.
How do I get the G Tablet to stay on my home Wifi?
During the time it has taken to type this email on my laptop, a new issue has developed with the G Tablet. It won't let me "unlock" it. Just like my phone has a slider unlock bar after being "asleep". Except, when I try to touch and drag the slider bar to unlock mode, it will only slide about an inch.
I will appreciate any help or advice you can provide.
Have you tried rebooting it. It can solve some problems. Along with using "Fix Permissions" in Clockwork Recovery, and in Rom Manager.
Are you talking about the Vegan Gingerbread ROM? If so, I had the same problem. I could connect to my phone's wifi but not my home wifi. Kept doing the same loop. scanning, connecting, disconnected (about 3 times) then it would disable the tablet from connecting itself to my home wifi.
I reinstalled Vegan 5.1 and 5.1.1 Camera, wifi, and my beloved SlingPlayer Mobile all work again.

Wait, that might be it. I installed vegan 5.1 but not vegan 5.1.1
I was going to do that one after I finished the unlock for market. I forgot all about 5.1.1 till you mentioned it. Thanks, superchaos!

I installed the 5.1.1 update and the wifi works!
I finished the step 3 market update and I have what appears to be full market but I cannot find WordPress and Evernote.

[Q] Tablet will not turn on wifi

Shortly after Team DRH's last update for their ICS 1.2 I installed it no problem and it ran for a few weeks. Then I left the tablet alone for a week or so and when I turn it on now the wifi is not working, it just says "turning on wifi" but never actually does. I've followed the reflash instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23147934&postcount=4 and I can re-install ICS endlessly. But even after following those instructions, and even after RayWaldos NVFlash for dummies, it still always says "turning on wifi" but doesn't.
When, during the above flashing, I let the stock tapntap boot, wifi works no problem. It's only when i install a ROM that it stops working. I even tried installing Gtabcombover and it gave me the same "turning on wifi" problem.
I did try searrching the forums, but I see no mention of this anywhere.
Thanks.
If I can be more to the point: does anyone know of a way to completely reflash stock everything? I thought I was doing that, but obviously not enough.
Or do I need to crack open my case and push that Dirty Little reset button?

I was able to use the DHR NUFLASH.. It worked real well for me.. download the right file (bootloader 1.1 or 1.2) to your pc, for your g-tab.hook up your USB cable Turn on your tab wile holding your volume (-) key , the logo will come on and then go black. Then go to the nuflash- win file, you downloaded to your pc and run.. The instructions are on the DHR site are vary good I read them a few times before I tried. Its worked great for me.. I'm a noob. Lets just say its just about makes the gtab un-brickable...

Well the good news is that after reading your post I went straight to the DRH website and lo and behold they had just posted Beta 1.3 that morning. I redownloaded their Full Stock CWM 5504 NVFLASh file even though I already had it, and the Beta 1.3.
I flashed the stock file and let it boot just like they said but the setup process began a FC loop and would not complete. I simply rebooted and the setup was able to complete. The I installed the Beta 1.3 with no Gapps and it worked like a charm. Wifi was working and everything, except there was no Market. So I did a wipe/FR and installed again this time with Gapps and everything is back, wifi, market, all good. And I have noticed that it all seems to work a ton faster and smoother.

What to do if your Wifi/Bluetooth fails causing reboots

Here is an attempt to provide a definitive answer to what to do if your phone has the Bluetooth/Wifi hardware failure.
Note that some of the links don't seem to work with the xda-developer app or the Atrix built in browser. Please blame motorola, not me
Symptoms:
1) If your phone was set to try to use Wifi by default on boot:
Your phone boots into the OS but shortly afterwards freezes and reboots - and again and again.
2) If your phone boots with Wifi turned off:
Your phone boots into the OS and a few seconds after you enable the Wifi in settings or via a widget it shows "Error" and sometimes the phone reboots shortly afterwards. Bluetooth simply fails to work.
If you have warranty return it for a repair. If not the best you can get is to disable the Wifi and Bluetooth so the phone doesn't reboot and can be used with mobile data. Instructions for both are below:
Be sure it is the Bluetooth / Wifi hardware failure:
1) Are you running a custom ROM? - if yes go to 1.1, if no goto 2.
1.1) Reboot into recovery and make a backup.
1.2) Remove your SD card.
1.3) Reflash using RSD to stock - remember to get the right one for the right country!
Get RSD and drivers here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
Search for your stock firmware using google
Use RSD to install the stock firmware file which will replace the bootloader, recovery and radio - takes about 20 minutes.
Goto 2.
2) Reboot into Stock Android Recovery and reset to factory defaults
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/60620
2.1) Reboot to Android and try enabling wifi from settings - if it reports "Error" after a few seconds and your phone may reboot shortly afterwards it is the hardware fault. Proceed to 3.
3) Check your remaining warranty here:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/82507/p/30,6720,7898
Bottom left - enter your IMEI.
Warranty left goto 3.1 else goto 4.
3.1) Return to Motorola for repair - be sure you flashed back to stock first using instructions in 1.3
4) Unpalatable options are all that is left. Either pay or do without Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Have money and the desire to fix your Atrix ($110 in the USA)? Goto 4.1 else 5
4.1) Consider paying Motorola to repair the phone anyway. Schedule a repair here https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/82507/p/30,6720,7898
5) This is a complex process. Google is your friend. Unlock your phone using the instructions below. Note you have no warranty to lose (see 3)!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
5.1) Install romracers CWM custom recovery using moto-fastboot (or Android fastboot):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
5.2) Did you take a backup earlier? If yes go to 5.3. If no goto 6.
5.3) Reboot into CWM recovery and restore your backup. Note if you are stuck in a bootloop this will be ok in a bit. Goto 7.
6) Install your favourite ROM using CWM recovery from a SDCARD or by moto-fastboot. Goto 7.
7) Reboot into CWM recovery
7.1) Plug your phone into your PC (you might have to wait for the driver to enumerate the phone first)
7.2) Find or install adb on your computer (hint - it comes with the Android SDK and platform tools from earlier):
adb shell
mount /system
cd /system/lib/modules
mv dhd.ko dhd.ko2
reboot
8) When you install a new ROM or kernel goto 7. Every time.
This little setup moves the driver linux needs to try to talk to the wifi/bluetooth chip which has failed so it can't find it. If it can't find it then it doesn't try to talk to the dead Broadcom Bluetooth Wifi chip that prevents the reboot cycle happening.
The fix was pioneered by:

So go thank him!
In the hopes this helps,
Matthew

Hmmm
I think I have done that correctly and flashed the 2.8 Neutrino GT. There was no reboot up to now. But I want to ask if there is a fix for WIFI 'ERROR' and BLUETOOTH error without 'ERROR' message?
Guys please. I can try anything I don't want to lose my phone Warranty is over. How can I find the Broadcom BCM4329 wireless and bluetooth chipset for atrix? So I can find a technician to change it with mine.
If you have the failure there isn't much to be done.
Ifixit has a teardown but the chip is a very small ball grid type thing which will be very hard to fix.
What are your symptoms precisely?

When I click on 'Turn on Wifi' button, It says 'Turning on Wifi' for 10 seconds and then 'Error' message comes up under the Wifi button and when I click on 'turn on bluetooth' it says 'turning on' but does not turn on. Same as wifi but without the 'error' message.
How can I fix this? I can't use wifi and bluetooth!
Nothing to be done. There is some discussion as to why but a chip in your phone made by broadcom which handles both wifi and Bluetooth has failed.
Short of replacing it requiring sophisticated soldering tools you are stuck. See the $110 Motorola warranty repair.
Sorry,

I have applied the fix to NottachTrix4G rom. I still have the random reboots. I really need help.
Do you get the wifi error message or not?
Secondly does this happen with the normal, stock Motorola rom?

When i check wifi does show error. I have not tried the stock moto rom yet.
The best thing to do is return to stock and do a factory reset
Carry out a full backup first (nandroid or using CWM recovery).
The best thing to do is return the atrix to stock and then do a factory rest.
If the problem persists then it is a hardware problem and you can now return it under warranty without them knowing (see the thread for instructions).
Otherwise you seem rather stuck. Perhaps buy an atrix with a smashed screen and transfer the motherboard?
Matthew
Noattachtrix rom was good, but not good enough.

I ended up using RomGb instead and that fix the bootloop after using NottachTrix4G Rom.
This happened to me Saturday November 17, 2012. Rebooting did not help. Did my searches and found this thread - and was bummed to read that it is due to a hardware issue. Fortunately, I persisted. With the WiFi widget endlessly spinning, I tried the Bluetooth, which would just fail and go to an off state. I elected to do a force close on any running applications one by one, testing Bluetooth after each. I found that BlueTooth and WiFi functionality would come back after force closing some apps. I stupidly left WiFi on and rebooted the phone - this put me in an endless reboot cycle. In the midst of one I managed to enable car dock mode which I have configured to disable WiFi and this got me out of the loop. I found my issue, which has the same symptoms as the above, was caused by a recent update to WeatherBug Elite. I uninstalled the program, and am back to normal operation. Hope this helps others.
Update - it appears my problems continue. Although I can now access BT & WiFi, the problem will re-occur. Force closing Weather version 2.2.2 usually will clear the issue, but I have had a good working WiFi sessions halt to Error. Still gotta think it's software rather than hardware.
Thanks I thought it was the ROM until I found this thread
Well, I was wrong. The issue is hardware not software. In my case pressing the volume down button would change the behavior sometimes, like get bluetooth to work, press volume down it stops or vice versa. Time for a replacement.
I mount the system successfully but when I type cd /system/lib/modules I get it cant find the directory, Please help. I need to do this to stop reboot!!
Definitely Software
I have atrix 4g. Running MROM 2013 2 13. I have the error on WIFI and NO Bluetooth. No reboot, but I rarely use the wifi enough to leave it on(conserve the batt). This is a software issue as far as I can tell as well.. I can fix it by killing the mrom service in "manage applications". If I get a chance I will look further but this seems like enough of a fix to not care.. MROM is pretty great besides this issue.(which appears to happen on multiple roms. My guess would be that it started with CM, but only because that is what the roms are based off of that get the problem.

Having the same issue. Wifi died after the phone fell off my hands. I had the CM10 ROM by ephinter and everything worked great except the wifi (no reboots). Then I had the AMAZING idea of installing a new ROM and the reboot loop started. EIther with any stock or custom ROM it continues to happen. Tried everything without success.
Have anyone tried disabling wifi in the settings.sqlite and see what happens?
jaunis I found out why mine was doing the boot loop and it is funny but very weird. I wiped the phone and put my cm7 back on there and forgot to activate my gmail account or any account for that case. Now I have been running it with no problems for 40 hours. But of course still no wifi. I am fine with that. but at least I am not dealing with the reboots.
I have an unlocked AT&T Atrix 4G with a custom ROM (Cyan 9.x & ICS 4.x). I started having WiFi issues where the device would reboot anytime I tried to enable the WiFi. This all started at least 6mo after installing the custom rom so I dont think its software related. To try and fix the issue I tried doing a data wipe factory reset, at this point I couldn't get past the welcome screen because WiFi didn't work and I dont have a SIM in the phone (my kid has been using it for games). So from here I decided to try and flash the phone back to stock using RSD Lite;
Be sure it is the Bluetooth / Wifi hardware failure:
1) Are you running a custom ROM? - if yes go to 1.1, if no goto 2.
1.1) Reboot into recovery and make a backup.
1.2) Remove your SD card.

I downloaded the AT&T 2.3.4 / 4.5.91 Service SBF which looks like this in RSDLite: 1ff-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-att-us-gas_na_olpsgbattspe_p011.sbf
I started the flash and left my phone for 15m or so to do its thing. When I came back my phone was boot looping (shown in a video here: http://youtu.be/V9wtBNEWRPQ ).
I can't do a factory reset from Stock Android Recovery (step 2 above), I can't get the menu for it. Now what do I do? Did I grab the wrong SBF file? Currently the only place I can grab SBF files at is here: http://www.das8nt.com/sbffiles.html

[Q] Wifi cannot go past "turning on" status - Galaxy Grand Quattro

I think I've messed up again. Whenever I try to turn my wifi on, it gets stuck at the "turning on" status and then crashes after a couple of minutes. I have no error messages. It just closes after some time. The last thing I remember I did regarding wifi was to recover a stored password using Wifi Password Recovery App. Then this happened.
My phone is rooted and I have cwm. I've tried basic troubleshooting like power cycling, deleting wpa supplicant file (found in a post somewhere), tried turning wifi on using allsahare play, untweaking internet, but they just didn't work.
I'm ready to flash a stock ROM. But I'm just curious if you have any other suggestions before I do it because I've read some posts saying that reflashing didn't work as well.
Please help XDA Developers!
I guess no one has the solution yet. But I have discovered something, and I hope this would help. I found the file, init.qcom.wifi.sh, using root browser. I executed it and I got a script output stating an error. WI-FI chip ID is not specified. I have attached screenshots so you may as well check them out. Also, I noticed the files under date\misc\wifi are all 0.00 B which i think means they are empty. Please help experts.

Try reverting back to stock temporarely with Odin, this happens in my Note 3 and used to do the same in my S2, but only with the proximity sensor. The idea is the same, replace all settings to stock and flash whatever you want after (boot the stock though and test wifi just in case).
Why this works i have no idea, but it saved my arse loads of times. I can guess some internal devices might have flags configured which could be chip based rather then ROM/emmc related, but that is only my supposition.

[Q] Hisense Sero Pro 7 - wifi stuck turning on

Hi all.
I'm running xboxexpert's 4.2.1 ROM with the UI MOD and clockworkmod recoverty 6.0.3.2. I keep wifi off generally for battery unless I need it. One day turning it on it gets stuck with the "Turning wi-fi on..." text but nothing happening.
I had wifi fixer installed to see logging at one point and it's help pointed to a possible know issue where this happens and said flashing is the only fix. OK fine I'll flash. Nope, same thing.
I've tried some of the other ROMS in the hisense forum but they've all failed. aosp's throw a warning that there's no file_contexts**, it fails to umount cache. Once it gets passed symlinking and metadata the applyparsedperms throws an error: operation not supported so the install is aborted. Do I need to load a different/newer recovery mod for these?
I've also tried the stock ROM and have the same issue w/wifi getting stuck when turning on.
Every time before I flash I'm formatting everything clockwork lets me: cache, data, system, modem, sdcard, dalvik. Each time I get it to boot, wifi is stuck.
I'm a bit of an android noob so speak in small sentences please.
Thanks.

My tablet had a similar problem and I gave up on it, I even sent it in for warranty worked for a couple of months then it went dead... well not exactly, it works perfectly at my work's wifi, other than that it's gone. Heck I even replaced the wifi antenna and not even with the hot spot underneath it it connects to it. That was almost a year and a half ago, since then it just sits there waiting to be thrown out the window...
