Recording video requires Save button, any way to change this? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I lost multiple small videos of my daughter yesterday learning to ride without training wheels for the first time yesterday because it was the first time I'd used the video/camcorder and it was in bright light and I didn't see a Save button. My old phone, my wifes SGS2, etc, you just start video, and when you stop, it's done. No "saving" required.
I was basically helping her off, pulling out the Note, unlock, camera->video, record until she stopped, then I'd stop recording and hit back to go back to the home screen so the camera wasn't "running" in my pocket. Each time i did this, I threw away the recording.
Anyone know a setting or something, or maybe an alternative app that doesn't do this? I know now, but it's still really aggravating.

I just tried it and it works for me. When recording...i click the back button and it auto saved. Try resetting your cam settings.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke

wtf? This is the stock ROM, I haven't fiddled with anything, and it's the first time I used the video camera at all.. Meeehhh...

No problem here either - stock rom, I've made multiple recordings.

Damnit, I figured it out. I use Camera Zoom, which launches the built-in Camcorder app. Or at least it looks the same, not 100% sure. If I do it that way, I have to hit save or it tosses it.
If I launch the stock Camera app and switch to video, and do the same thing with record, stop, I see NO save button, and just hitting back I found the video in the gallery.
Damnit Camera Zoom.

[Q] Use Camera while on phone?

Hey all,
So I was on the phone with my bro and wanted to take a picture of something while I was talking to him. So I hit the Home button, got to the main screen, clicked on my Camera icon and it said "Camera not available while using phone". So I did a search on the forums and only found this thread. It made mention of 3rd party apps but is/are there a rom in development that overcome this limitation? If not, what are some recommended apps to use. Honestly, I like all the features in the stock Vibrant camera app and didn't know if any would actually utilize all their options. This isn't a OMG my phone sucks item, it'd just be filed under things that would be nice to have since my old iPhone 3g actually had this capability.
Any recommendations/help are always appreciated.
FxCamera is what I use. I like it.
My old G1 had that capability as well.
I could also use the camera and media players when the battery was almost dead.
HTC seems to understand we aren't children that need to be smacked when we want to do something they don't think we should [Maybe Apple just didn't think of it though].
I remember my last samsung phone started to limit what you could do when the battery was getting low. nice to have 3rd party apps now.
So I tried the FxCamera app. It's not too bad. Any other recommended apps that get around this annoyance?

I only use FxCamera just in case I take a pic during a call. I like stock better. You can make a shortcut by long pressing homescreen, choose shortcuts, scroll down till you see FxCamera Quick Launch and choose what effect you want (I always use normal) and thats it. So when you are on a call you only one click away of taking a pic instead going in to the menu and choose what effect you want.

[Q] Vibrant camera not working

Noticed today, that the camera on my Vibrant is not working correctly. I push the camera app button, and it comes up and looks like it wants to take a picture, but when I touch the screen to focus or take a pic, nothing happens. My barcode scanner no longer works either. It used to constantly focus in and out looking for bar codes, but no longer does. The only thing I have done recently, is install Angry Birds Rio, and un-installed Meridian. I did a hard reset a few hours ago, and the problem is still there. Running stock 2.2(update from Kies Mini) Any ideas?

have u tried flashing another rom other then stock ? try it out and see if it works. maybe the developers roms are better then the stock. u could also use odin to go back to eclair stock and see if the camera works there. try it out. and u could also wait a little while longer to see what others have to say as well good luck
First, try Odin then back to your stock.
If problem persists...
Try a rom.
If problem persists... your camera might be broken
I have not flashed back to stock, or another ROM. Honestly I feel overwhelmed by it. I've read the stickies, and their just seems to be so much information that it makes my head want to explode.

YouTube auto-rotate problem

I'm running rooted stock Rom with adrynalyne's bamf 4.4.6 kernel (not overclocked) and I've been experiencing a problem with YouTube for the last couple weeks. Frequently when I go to view videos and turn the phone to watch in landscape the video locks up and it appears that the video is struggling to orient. When this happens the phone is not responsive. If I wait 30 seconds or so everything straightens out and goes back to functioning. This happens both when auto-rotate is enabled on the phone and when it is not. Just curious if anyone knows a fix for this. Thanks so much.
OneNutShort: I'm having this too, assuming our problem has the same cause, on my Nexus 5 with CM 4.4.2 Cyankang nightly and PA GApps modular. Was hoping it wasn't a hardware defect until I noticed that if you kill youtube, at least with me, it unlocks. Searching around for a fix, haven't found one yet, but I'm guessing it's this Youtube app, so maybe if I clear the data that might work or if I grab another Youtube apk from xda or uninstall/reinstall it from the market or try a different GApps I might get lucky -- if I do I'll come back here and let you know.
Meanwhile, turn on developer mode, go into developer settings, enable kill app with long press of the back button and survive on that, or use some alternative Youtube app, dig around xda, or give Liveleaks a try...

Camera didn't save .. is there a temporary directory?

So yesterday was taking a lot of photos on a day out, using the Google Camera app .. funny thing was happening though; often would switch to the camera but the Capture button was 'grayed out' and had to quit it and re-enter to get it to work. Afterwards realised a lot of the photos I took were not there .. Figured that what was happening was, I would take the photo, press home button or power off and it evidently had not finished saving, or as HDR was on, doing the processing. Never seen this before but maybe just a freak one off or to do with the updated Camera app released recently. But my question is; is there any temporary directory files might have been saved to before doing the HDR stuff nad saving to gallery, or I guess maybe that is all done in memory and I am out of luck?

Camera closes after taking pic...

Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine
