Any suggestions for me - HTC EVO 3D

Anyone got some suggestions for apps or something that will extend my battery life I'm running the latest mean ROM and battery seems to drain faster than ever last full charge lasted 3 and a half hours lol any suggestions would be great thanks in advanced

Do you have the issue on normal roms? Try one that doesn't do any dual core or overclocking stuff. Clean ROM lasts me forever

Yep pretty much. Meanrom now includes anthrax kernel which gives better performance but gives lower battery life. Use the stock kernel.

How often are you using your phone? Screen on time? Wifi only? What apps are synching and how often? Strong or weak cell/data signal? Do you have auto-brightness on? (if not, how high is your brightness set?) Etc etc etc
Point is, there are 100+ factors, that you didn't mention, that can adversely affect your battery life, and before anyone can give you advice, they'd need to know your setup/usages.

JuiceDefender helps me a ton.

3 hours on a full charge? That's nuts bro... Have you tried wiping and a full install without restoring any apps? I'm on mean 3.5 with minimal tweaks and I can go all day long with the anthrax kernel at 1.5. Are you talking 3 hours of straight usage?

I'd start clean and find out what app is keeping your phone awake. It should last over 24 hours if you're not using it.

Stay away from task killers...they are not really needed and eat up battery as they work anyway. Long as you have your sync settings and such set up right you'll be fine.
If you got everything set to push or sync in small time frames it'll kill battery life.
I'm going to venture you have something rogue killing your battery...
I'd install systempanel and turn on monitoring service and check back after time has passed and see exactly what's eating the battery...much more detail there...

I'm using v3.5 of MeanROM and I have the Antutu CPU master. Even though the Rom manages your CPU you fan tweak stuff with this app. I currently have my CPU running to the max levels. You cab tweak it to only du. Between 100mhz to maybe 800mhz (estimates) if you're trying to save battery. The app costs but you fan find it on google if you want

I have one suggestion. Use flight mode while you are sleeping, then it almost just use 1% in the time you sleep.
I charge it to 100% before I go to sleep and if its already late I put it on flight mode and the next day when I wake up I will put flight mode off.
Rest off the day its just on normal settings, auto brightness etc. I have been doing about two days now in the weekend with idle usage.

What do you mean by "Clean ROM"? I have LeeDrOiD_3D_V5.4 - not sure if it's clean Anyway - have that so little time yet that not sure about battery difference. Bought JuiceDefender and that seems to help a bit though.

Your problem lies in leedroid, choose a different Rom, update you radio, calibrate battery, wait a day or 2.
And remember to superwipe!

What ROM would you suggest? I have S-ON - will that be problem? Do you suggest Android 4.0 ROM?

I am on gsm 3vo. Just had similar problems with leedroid.
I use romeos3d, Anryl 10.07 kernel, no task killers.
S on is required for radio update, you should be able to flash custom kernel thru fastboot. Or the flashimage gui on market.
If you don't superwipe when you try a new Rom, you might have issues.

If you want everything working, on gsm anyways, requires sense 3.0. 3.5 sense missing 3d games, 4.0 missing camera and more.

Sorry, I'm bit confused here... I have Android 2.3.4 and Sense 3.0 and just thinking of upgrading to Android 4.0 but you speak about sense 3.5 and 4.0. Or what exact ROM you use and suggest?

2.3.4 is software version. It'll say sense version above.
Any sense 3.0, 2.3.4 Rom will have everything working.
2.3.5, sense 3.5 only cannot play true evo 3d games.
4.0, 3.6 sense 4.0 is still a work in progress.
Romeos3d 1.3.4 for gsm is my favorite thus far, tried about 10 roms. Everything working fast.

Lmao xD I wonder if mods will ban users who misspell other users names as part of their new "iron fist" rule. They said we have to use English but isn't any combination of English letters considered English? Gibberish can be said in different languages, so one would only assume so xD. LOOPHOLE!
Back on topic: not all 3D's will react the same to every kernel. Everyone's phone will react differently to each ROM and kernel. Try which one works best for you. Just give your phone a few days to break in the ROM and kernel so you can see some realistic battery life. Be sure to calibrate your battery (wipe battery stats once your phone is charged) after flashing a new ROM or kernel.

I am just running the newest ViperRom with the kernel it comes with. Yesterday I took it off the charger at 5:00 am and when going to bed at 10:00 pm my battery was still at 54%. That's over 17 hours off awake time.
I didn't use the phone a ton. About 20 minutes of phone converstation, 30 or so texts, checking emails, use gps and navigation for about 10 minutes, and googled a couple quick things. Of course I always turn on my screen to check the temp with weatherbug and the time and to see if I had any notifications.
This morning when I got up after 25 hours on battery it was still at 44% I would let it die, but I am not going to be by a charger all day and I don't want it to die so I have to charge it.
All this and I didn't follow calibration instructions. I did one full cycle, not two like the devs recommend.

You don't need 2 cycles, just one. Wipe stats and discharge means you're half way there and full charging completes the cycle.

[Q] Battery Life This Bad?

I know the Thunderbolt's battery is known for being very short, but I charged it to 100% right before I went to bed, and when I woke up the next morning it was down to 63%. WiFi and 4G/3G was not on, only the cell radio. This doesn't seem normal at all, but is it?

I'm running Redemption ROM. I have no idea what kernel. I'm guessing the stock one since I never changed it. I'm not overclocked.
Maybe I could change to a ROM and kernel that gets better battery life?
The best ROM/Kernel combo I've found so far is the BAMF Cubed 1.10 with imoseyon lean kernel....After installing try doing a battery calibration...very detailed procedure with no app download at teambamf.net. But anyway, still using the stock battery from when I bought my Tbolt in March 2011....getting 26-30 hours of battery life.

I get fairly good life on newts one xxx rls. I got about 10 hrs today while streaming over 4g, texting, 2 calls and some Facebook. I'm sure I can get better battery life after I get over the excitement of sense 4
I have CleanROM DE 1.4 and it's the best battery life I've had, which leads me to believe you should be looking more for a different kernel. I've tried upwards to 10 different ROMs. I'm using the 3.13xx kernel he posted in Post #2 of that ROM thread.
Also, just a note, upgrading the firmware helped tremendously. Not just using the patch, but taking the dive and flashing the RUU. My phone got better with both battery life and heat.

Battery Monitor Pro is great. Even logs all that data and has nice graph. It also allows you to swap batteries and also the battery data with it so each spare battery you have is correctly calibrated.

Anyone test out any of the new ROMs on the new base...any help to battery life?

Mean Rom ICS vs. Viper Redline ICS

I'm trying to figure it out which ICS rom to flash based on battery life and I've narrowed it down to Mean Rom ICS and Viper Redline ICS, and I was wondering if anyone would mind posting pics of the battery times.
MEAN ICS v2.0
I'm currently running MR ICS 2.0 and I'm getting pretty decent batter life. I'll have a screen shot in the morning as I haven't actually measured so I'll do an overnight test and have the screenshot up in the AM. I haven't tried the ViperROm though.
I use MR also. Pretty decient useage and i get a solid 15 hours out of it. I tried Vipers ICS in the beginning and was getting about the same. Im not sure what he has changed since the first release. I would post a pic but i just switched back to a gingerbread Rom. ICS to me has some bugs and GB i was getting better battery life and faster performance.
Hope this helps

I went from Viper to MeanRom and never looked back. Even using Viper's CPU Control I still don't get the battery life that I do from Mean. Not to mention Mikey is focused on one sole device and Viperboy's attention is divided by at least two (3D and 4GLTE) maybe more I don't go to all the forums. Also, I use gps a lot my phone (Hardware Ver 2) runs a lot cooler with Mean then Viper when using the gps for hours upon hours. I've even used it for a 14 hour singe day drive once the screen was never off (I did use a car charger of course lol)
MeanROM.
Thanks!

Or it could be what he has on his Screen. For Example he could have an alternative Launcher with one homescreen and a clock widget. And also i heard that if you use a regular black wallpaper it could save you quite amount of power. So maybe could throw in a Black Wallpaper in there.

I liked MeanRom. The battery life was comparable to the GB version.

HIDEOUS Battery Drain!

Hello people!
Battery on my evo3d has never been great, but withing the past few months it went terribly- almost unuseable!
I need to charge it at least twice a day..
As you may see, this is terribly annoying.
I'm on the latest official ICS MIUI, bluetooth off, wifi off when I don't need it and automatic brightness//lowest
And.. not using anything but listening to music, facebook, instagram und sometimes internet links.
I used juicedefender but that didn't help really..
I thaught about buying one of those new batteries with around 4300mAh but I hope there's another way..
Any of you got some tips? Know where the problem could have it's origine?
I'm thankful for every help..

Try different kernel maybe. Or battery calibration

use BetterBatteryStats to find out if an app is causing battery drain.
And I would recommend you try Greenify. I find it to be an excellent app to deal with battery draining apps (though it does delay startups of apps like facebook but its a minor inconvenience)

calibrated battery, thanks, you're right, I'll try that, been a while.. Is buttered toast or anthrax still the best kernel?

Thanks man! Greenify seems like an awesome app! I installed both, I wonder what betterbatterystats will show me..
And stay away from the app killers. They do more bad than good for battery life.

I know, thanks.. But MIUI has a built in task killer. is that one ok actually? no one talked about that as I recall??
AW: HIDEOUS Battery Drain!
In Anryl's latest thread someone got over 2 days batterylife with his kernel! There won't be anything better right?

It really depends on your use. Even the most battery saving kernel wont give more than 3.5-4hrs of screen-on time. On minimal usage 1-1.5 days is normal

I don't know.. I wouldn't say my use is "heavy". I'd say it's somethinga bout moderate. whatsapp, facebook, music and texting. that is roughly everything i use in a normal school day. and I have to recharge at midday because it's at 10-15 percent..
I think i'm gonna try anryl's kernel allthough I don't know which one haha
and if that doesn't help I'll get a bigger battery..
root to install greenify
I am am noticing the battery seems to be lasting less and less the more I have this phone; un-rooted, updated to the latest OTA ICS. What I want to do is install greenify on my EVO 3D but I see that I need to root it.
All the articles that I read:
How to Root Evo 3D! [2.08.651.2 and Later] [HTC Unlock Method] on HTCevohacks.com (this one seems to be the best for unlocking the bootloader and rooting it),
state that the phone will reset to factory defaults. Is there a way I can install root my phone to install greenify without resetting it to defaults? Note: I don't care about installing other kernels I just want to install greenify.
