SlideIT Keyboard - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I would like to recommend a nice keyboard replacement for the Note.

I had actually purchased this keyboard for a Dell Streak 7 I owned. I sold the Streak and had forgotten about this great keyboard until I was going through my email's and ran across the link / activation from where I had purchased it.
Anyway long story short, the version is now up to 4.5, it's skinnable and has many free skins to choose from. Also hand writing recognition like Samsung's keyboard. You can also set your own landscape / portrait layouts as well.
There is a 15 day free trial to see if it suits you, just thought I might recommend this, my old activation key worked with the newest version, if any of you guys have used it on previous devices your license will transfer fine.
Try it out and leave your comments here.

I do but then again that's just me, if you look at the memory footprint it uses less than swype, has as many features and seems faster, but then again, my opinions are my own, just sharing knowledge I find.

I like the spacebar being offset to the right so i dont type.and.hit.the.period.button.all.the.time.

I've tried this as well as SwiftKey as alternatives to Swype. So far, Swype is still my #1.

+1 Swype is still best. Swift is a good alternative to a stock keyboard, but not close to Swype in my opinion.

Used this for a while on my Captivate. It was slow compared to Swype so I haven't touched it again.

I to have grown fond of Swype, so fast and fluid.

Text input continues to be a thorn in my side...

I don't know how else to explain it. I honestly think my screen calibration is off in some fashion with regards to keyboard input. I've tried changing the keyboards and I continue to miss letters left and right.
I figured with a larger screen that this would be much less of an issue but (not exaggerating) 50% of the time I go to key in a letter above the spacebar, it registers the space instead of the respective letter. I also have issues with hitting the return symbol when trying to backspace.
I hate to admit it but I never had anywhere close to these kinds of problems on iOS. I refuse to go back to that platform but I SMS way too much and this might be the factor that sends me back. Voice works pretty well but I much prefer to type.
Any suggestions?
Try swype.

Yeah I've tried Swype a bit and not really a fan. I type too many abbreviations and it still requires you to initially tap on the first letter which is where the problems I'm having occur.

Are you using the Samsung keyboard? If so I would download the gingerbread keyboard from the market and that should fix your problem. When I use the Samsung Keyboard for a lack of a better word I feel like a retard I can't spell or anything.

had the same issue but only with the android keyboard when i switched to the samsung keybopard and turned off all the auto correct crap my issues went away but i did have horrible accuracy issues

Yes I have the same problem with the Android keyboard. I am still not sure if it is a bug or if I have to become used to it. It doesn't happen all the time.

I noticed that the android keyboard does have this problem but the samsung keyboard does not.
Yes but the Samsung keys are larger that could be a reason.

Thanks all, I'll give the Samsung kb another go. Glad at least to see that I'm not the only one having this challenge...
The thing I don't like about the Samsung keyboard is the bar that keeps popping up and going away, making the screen size change. I also really like being able go tap a ? without having to press the alt key. I'm going to try the Gingerbread keyboard in the market, it worked great ln froyo. Now that I know I am not fat fingering everything.

I must have tested a dozen different keyboards not only with this new SGS2
phone but on my two previous phones (Captivate and Infuse) and I have
found that nothing is as good as the Samsung Keyboard unless someone
happens to be a wizkid or someone has fingers as thin as a pencil.
For average people there is nothing as good as the stock samsung keyboard.
One of the reasons for this is that the size of the letters on the samsung
keyboard are noticabley larger.
Another reason is that when you use those keyboards from the market
they all have a slight but noticable delay when pressing the keys.
I loaded gingerbread keyboard from the market. Yes, its basically the same as the android keyboard, but performance has been much better for me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
There is another issue with the android keyboard when you have 2 input languages installed. It switches by itself the input language without a swipe of the spacebar.

I have issues to. I have tried the stock android, Samsung, gingerbread, touchpal, swiftkey, and perfect. They all suffer from the same issues. HTC has a calibration app I was hoping to find here. Anybody? Oh and i hate swype.

Ooh. I like this! can't seem to do "wow" or "cool".
I can't find swype in the market. This is my search results for "swype"
https://market.android.com/search?q=swype&so=1&c=apps
I tried "swype keyboard" too and can't seem to get to it. Was trying from my phone then tried on my laptop and got the above.
You have to get it from their site. http://www.swype.com/
Hm... I prefer the bigger default kb. Is there a way to use swype with a different kb or do you have to use theirs?

Swype is a keyboard replacement, and once you have it installed, it will, as the word implies, replace your keyboard. So, yes, you have to use theirs.
I have been using Swype for over a year; while the first few days took some effort as I got used to it, I find the benefit for the time invested is well worth it. I can "type" out texts much faster than tapping on a tiny keyboard.
I love the mode, it's much better than typing with thumbs, just prefer using the built in trace with the built in kb since it's bigger and I can make the trace line red.
I'll have to see if it's annoying for me to have to turn on swype for browsers and market and also if it's annoying to switch kbs for that or if it's less annoying to just get used to the swype's kb and use it for everything.

Just got my new note!! Any recommendations?

Hey guys I just got me new note! I noticed that it feels substantially different using simple applications, typing, moving around, etc. Obviously it's going to be different given the size of the phone so I don't have a problem with it! My question is, what applications/downloads are you guys using to help make the whole experience of using a phone of this size more comfortable for you? Are you using a different keyboard, different launcher, different application, etc. I'm curious to know!
I'm picking mine up in a few hours so I'll report back but I do plan on loading Thumb Keyboard asap. It made thumb typing on the HTC View quick and comfortable so I'm assuming it'll be a nice addition to the Note.

Oh yeah get Juice Defender. Can't go wrong with losing 1% an hour on standby! 5 hours screen time! I set my settings on Aggressive.
Thanks for the tips guys! I'm using the thumb keyboard right now and wow I didn't expect this phone to take this long to get used to. Not a bad thing I'm really enjoying it

The only things I've done is the DAG kernel, CWM, and the Saurom mod. I've been extremely pleased. I'm still using the stock swype keyboard (I tried the SlideIT keyboard but prefer swype). Using the Saurom rom mod with overclocking (i'm stable at 1.83ghz) things are incredibly smooth and totally worth the upgrade.

SwiftKey 3 Beta Free Download!

Hi everybody, TouchType Ltd. have decided to release their latest beta for the ever popular SwiftKey today for free
Seeing as the demand for the beta is hammering their servers, I decided to upload the .apk to my dropbox for everybody to enjoy. Just download and install like you would with any other app
Here's the file: http://db.tt/GHjXdQi7
FYI, this is a FREE, OPEN beta and therefore this is a FREE APP. I understand the rules of xda, and I do not condone or promote pirating in any way!
I got it from them and I really like it so far.

I like it, but think I still prefer Perfect Keyboard. It seems to me the new smart space feature in the Swiftkey is a little too agressive. I sometimes end up getting spaces where I didn't want them.
i guess i'm the only one who thought it's terrible? I tried it to see if its any better than AI Type that I've been using for over a year. I switched back.

Ha ha...I typically have the opposite problem with swiftkey products - try to add 2 spaces after a sentence and end up with a predicted word instead. I always have to turn off "space bar inserts predicted word" because of this, and it kinda hinders the usability of swiftkey.
Made it about 14 hours (8 of which I was sleeping) before going back to swype
SwiftKey works really well for me. Swype is annoying and the samsung keyboard is awful.

I was confused about the question mark too, but today I realized that if you swipe the period key to the left, it automatically uses the other available punctuation depending on how far you swipe. Pretty cool
It took some getting used to, but u love this feature now.

I didn't like that - I also don't know why they swapped the mic button and the number/symbol button. And there's no way I can find to turn off the aggressive parsing of one word/filename into a sentence.
I went back to the original Swiftkey - new is not always better

Good Free Keyboards for the Rezound?

Im having a hard time finding a decent keyboard for the Rezound. Here is the issue, I really don't like the standard HTC keyboard. The buttons are backwards as far as Im concerned.
Problem is when I try a different one, ICS keyboard from the market, swype etc they are way too small because of the Rezound screen. Also when I say too small I mean the width in addition to the height.
Ive seen a few keyboards where you can actually mod the height but not the width, which I honestly dont get. Well my primary problem is hitting the letter next to the one I actually want because the keys aren't wide enough.
Is there any keyboard out there thats basically the standard ASOP keyboard, but the same size as the HTC one, that would be perfect for me. I cant seem to find one.
Swiftkey Beta 3 is free for now. Best keyboard I've used to date.
Try A.I.type keyboard

I seriously need a new keyboard too. I loved swype on the incredible. It was beast mode, I could text and type as fast as typing on my computer. I can't find a decent keyboard on this thing. I can't use swype because it breaks and can't swype no where near as fast as I could on the incredible. I tried swiftkey and didn't really like that either. I currently use the trace on the HTCkeyboard and I can't stand it either. It's no where near as accurate as swype.
