Settings of EVO GSM - HTC EVO 3D

Hi guys. In the settings of my gsm evo 3d there isn't the 4g option!!
Why this? And the wimax settings there arent' too!!! Why why!!?

I think you have the GSM version of Evo 3D. Where do you live?

I live in italy. But the 4g doesn't anyway have to be in settings?

The GSM version of the HTC EVO 3D does not support 4G in any way, shape or form.

And the wimax?

The GSM version also doesn't have Wimax. As far as I'm aware (from reading on here) the SIM slot in the GSM version is the same place as the Wimax would be.

All rights thanks. This thread can be closed.

There are a lot of different tech's and the names are often interchanged, it is not surprising people get confused tbh.

Although this gsm evo 3d does support tmobile usa 4g, Hsdpa . The limit on the phone capability is 14mbps
I get speeds of 5-6mbps and 6-7mbps on average around so cal.

Htc evo 3d gsm version compatible with t-mobile usa 3g/hspa+ network?

i was looking at this website http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_evo_3d-3901.php and under GENERAL it says "3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100" doesn't T-Mobile USA uses 170/2100 bands for their 3g/HSPA+ network? im just asking, because im not sure, does anybody know?
Yes they do. That was the original spec that was posted on the HTC worldwide website. However that part of the spec was removed very quickly, possibly in response to the AT&T/T-Mobile purchase announcement.

It won't come to T-Mobile, the FCC pass with the similar T-Mobile bands was for Rogers' Model.
So technically you can use it, just be ready to pay the full retail cost for importing.
I thought gsm 3d was outside America. The sensation on tmobile is almost the same but less RAM and better camera

It won't be on Tmobile at least in the US. You will have to pay full price for a Canadian one and have it shipped.
I played with the Evo 3D and honestly I'm glad T-Mobile got the Sensation instead. The build is way sexier IMO

I don't like the back of the sensation looks too HD2 like... But that's my opinion
3D > iClone

just got my Gsm unlocked EVO 3d

I had pre-ordered a EVO 3d gsm from negri electronics and just got it in today. Over all great experience with this company. Phone was brand new in sealed package. Unlocked and working on all ATT bands. Very pleased with them. Now its on to rooting.

You are getting 3g? Website states 900/2100 HSPA which won't work anywhere in the States. I mean you will get Edge/Gprs but not 3g...
Yes I am getting 3g. It is the Rogers version with 850/1900 bands.

I went to their website and seen what you were talking about. And you were correct that one will not get 3g as it has 900/2100 bands.
If you go to the EVO 3d gsm unlocked one it has the correct bands. But is actually on back order. When I got mine they had only received 2 units in. http://negrielectronics.com/htc-evo-3d-gsm-unlocked.html

Cool, good to know. Did yours say Rogers then? Or does it have the plain gold back? Or actually a red back like the picture (I prefer the red!)...

yes mine does say rogers on the back with the gold ring around the camera. and before i rooted and put a custom rom it boot animation and down animation were both rogers.
Edit: The only thing I did to get my data going was put the apn info for ATT.

Cdma vs gsm

I've been trying to Google this and got no results. All the youtubers I asked and all the Google searches I did and I got the same result. The cdma e3d is for the USA and gsm is for the rest of the world...ARRRR! I ALREADY KNOW THAT!
So can someone please explain the internal differences between the cdma and gsm 3d and why can't gsm users flash cdma Roms (if the radio remains untouched). I'm sure I'm not the only 1 wondering why the cdma EVO 3s gets so many more roms than gsm users.
Please don't flame at me if this question has been asked elsewhere.

I was also searching for this and already found out that its kernel related because it has some other drivers and stuff running to maintain the cdma network.
Theres kernel and framework differences. Even if you were to extract a gsm kernel, and put it into a cdma.rom, it still wouldn't work properly. I've looked at the frameworks for both phones, and there was a lot more differences in the code than I had previously anticipated.
The reason there are more cdma roms, is simply because there are more devs/chefs/tweakers that use/have cdma phones.
Also many old & new developers for the CDMA EVO 3D came from the EVO 4G, which had a huge following on the same carrier.
It was like a migration of birds.

Ah, that explains it. I was wondering why there is so much more development going on for the CDMA E3D than the GSM, seeing as how Sprint is the only carrier using the CDMA. Stupid, multiple standards!

Wrong.
Verizon and U.S Cellular both use CDMA.

But do Verizon, US Cellular, or MetroPCS offer the EVO 3D? That's what we're talking about here, the EVO 3D.

Thank you soooooooo much for that (ill make sure I whack the that thank button when I get on a computer. I was thinking something to do with kernel and framework but I never had time to check.

I stand by my comment about stupid multiple standards. Get with the rest of the world, U.S. carriers! Stop being different just for the sake of being different.
Now, not knowing anything at all about ROM cooking, will it ever be possible that ROMs for the E3D may be able to support both CDMA and GSM, or is there no way to code that kind of logic?

Well kinda. It's not hard to write the ROM for the gsm EVO if you made a ROM for the cdma 1. But It's hard because It's gonna require testing on a device which the cdma dev does not have.
