Need your votes and comments to get more 3rd party products support. - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Might be taking a risk for posting this in the General Forum, but I figured this would be the best place to get eyes on the topic.
As a lot of you may have seen, quality case choices for our Transformer Prime is very limited. Doing a product search, you'll noticed that a lot of the cases available are the same cases that have been re-branded. The ones that are available are cheap leather or fake leather.
In an effort to get some of the bigger players in tablet case manufacturers involved, I'm asking if you guys can please go to the Speck Products website and vote up the idea of them making cases for our prime. I really liked the cases they had for my macbook and iphone that I had.
The link is here: https://speckproducts.uservoice.com...s/2741107-case-for-the-asus-transformer-prime
I believe you are given 10 votes to vote up a suggestion, and you are allowed to place three of those votes on one suggestion. I don't believe you have to register to add a vote. Just click the vote button and choose three votes. I do ask that you leave a comment so that the speck products people know that there is a good amount of interest for these cases. The PixelSkin HD and Folio cases is what I'm wishing they would make for our Tablet. I noticed that they do have cases for the Galaxy Tab series, so I don't think they're too much in bed with apple products.
We can also contact otterbox as well as incase if you guys are interested. Just trying to get more accessories for our Tablets, it is one if not the best Android Tablet out right now
Hoping you guys are interested, I would really like to have more quality choices for cases for the Prime.

I'm meeting with a friend next week to discuss plans of building external battery packs that have usb 3.0 ports capable of charging the transformer prime. We'll be building the pcb's ourselves and the batteries will be 6600/9600mah batteries capable of powering the prime for quite a long time. I don't want to go too much into the details, but they should charge other devices at lightning quick speeds. I'll post the kickstarter link when we finish our prototypes.
Can't say much about cases, but there are people out there that are looking out for the transformer prime.

Just voted and added a comment.

G tablet Accessories on the way

Hi everyone, I bought the G tablet for my son for Christmas and having been searching for accessories ever since. My persistence paid off. I emailed ViewSonic directly and called repeatedly until I finally got through to a legit person. I was advised on January 19th that accessories such as a docking station, cases, and other plug-ins are on the way. I was promised to have a docking station sent to me free of charge, so I'll let you know when that comes and I'll post some pictures. The timeline was vague, but he said within 4 weeks the accessories should start showing up at Office Depot and the other retailers selling the G tab. I'll keep everyone posted.

That would be so nice, as long as it's a good price point I welcome accessories here in the states and 'readily' available.
I hope this holds up!
... I'm really tired of shipping stuff.

I'm curious. Did you send in the free dock rebate thingy with Sears or did they just offer you one because you were persistent? I would really like one and I can be quite persistent too.
That's great news - I bought a case from Staples that's meant for the Ipad supposedly that's just gotten a teensy bit too big for the gtab so having a nicely fit jacket would be helpful.
After three calls and 2 conversations with his secretary, the individual I talked with said he had overall responsibility for the Gtab. We talked about the many accessories and at the end of the call he offered the dock. It was from persistence.

What was said here? Can you elaborate?
Carrying cases, cases with keypads, and docking stations were mostly discussed. He kept coming back to the docking station saying it could either stand next to a desktop or alone on a desk. We also discussed the carrying cases, which he made it sound like a leather case because he indicated that it would be nice to take to meetings for professionals. He said many accessories will begin showing up at the retailers, but we really didn't go through a whole list. I'm just as anxious as everyone else to see what many accessories ends up being and the docking station when that arrives.

I hate to sound like a skeptic; however I have heard this same story from them since Thanksgiving and it is always the same time line given. While I would truly be happy if this was real, my advice would be to not get your hopes up too high.
There are G Tablet users on here scouring the web looking for alternatives that work for this tablet. There are also a plethora of new 10" tablets starting to hit the market which seem to have more accessory support than our G Tablets. Those accessories should work very nicely for our tablet and we will then have a variety of items to choose.
While I am a HUGE fan of this tablet (I own 2 of them); I have been very disappointed with Viewsonic and the very poor go to market strategy (or lack thereof) which was employed.
Misses on this tablet:
1: They did not have accessories ready to ship when tablet released
2: The ROM was at best half baked and disappointed EVERYONE; this caused something with great hardware to quickly accumulate a bad rep with little hope of recovery. Lets be honest... it has gotten pretty bad reviews!
3: Little to no marketing effort on the behalf of Viewsonic. (They just dumped it out there and no real fan fare was given. I would attribute that to the fact they knew the ROM was crap and did not want to attract too much attention).
4: No real effort on Viewsonic's part to really turn this situation around; oh yes they have made a few cosmetic changes to the ROM... but really folks... that is about it.
Hits on this tablet:
1: Excellent hardware
Champions:
The XDA Devs who took on the monumental task of making this tablet worth owning! The only reason I have two of these is because of all of the efforts and sharing being done by the XDA community as a whole. Viewsonic needs to finacially support these devs and give all of us an accessory of our choice or ship us an upgraded device (whatever they are going to replace this with in the future) due to the primary fact they we beta tested this device and were used as unwitting Guinna pigs by Viewsonic.
Again... don't hold your breath... you will surely turn blue and die before this happens.
I am very happy with this tablet and for what I wanted in a tablet this will serve me well for quite a while. Just remember when something is Bleeding Edge... it does mean YOU will bleed while trying to make the new technology work!
Just my two cents worth....
I guess we will collectively hold our breath...
Perhaps off topic but has anyone seen any sales numbers (units sold) for the gTablet? It probably wouldn't make economic sense to roll out a line of accessories if sales sucked. I did some research last week and didn't find anything. Plenty out there on competitors tablets though.

I'm guessing not so good seeing how several retailers returned all of their stock. The reviews were mostly negative or mixed at best. All of this was due to crap ROM it shipped with. The average consumer would much rather shell out the extra money for a different tablet instead of going through the trouble of flashing a custom ROM like us.

I agree...
The only thing holding this up is the HARDWARE. I'm currently looking to put a newer ROM on there than the one I put on after I discovered the monstrosity they had shipped it with..
A leather jacket would be great.

I ordered the dock from Merimobiles on the 17th and it arrived today on the 31st. Completely took me by surprise. I was trying to beat the Chinese New Years. I was expecting it in another few weeks frankly. Too bad Viewsonic didn't have a number of these in wait at the launch. Probably needed to rebrand. A sticker would have sufficed for me. Now to get back to testing it ....
Has anyone received a defective docking station? Mine will not charge the Tablet. I placed the tablet in the docking station and plugged the station in a wall outlet with the AC/DC convertor I got with the Tablet. The light on the tablet never came on and the tablet was never charged.
Also, there was something fairly heavy that was moving around inside the dock as you rotated or shifted it. I don't know if something was broken inside or it was just a weight used to make the dock more stable. It just didn't seem normal. When I contacted Merimobiles they seemed upset and said that no one had returned this unit and that it was a very well-made item.
Well, I'm returning it.

Consider yourself lucky. I ordered mine from Merimobiles on 12/29 and still have not received it. I got one reply from them after several attempts that the processing got delayed b/c of Xmas and that it didn't ship until 1/4. I finally got a tracking number and it says it shipped on 1/26. I'll spare you all the language that is going through my head for this company.
I like to see some accessories here in the US also. I’m a little leery about buying thing from overseas vendors. Either way I think we’ll be waiting a while for something to show up.
I emailed for an update on the accessories that are due out and the response "You will see accessories in stores March 1". Still holding my breath.

Is there an apple ipad style case for the G Tab

I ordered my G Tab from Woot as many others did. I really like the thin iPad 1 case and have been searching for one for the GTab but haven't been able to find one. I'm not really looking for a big leather case. I'm looking for something similar to this forum post on the Galaxy site: ht tp:// forum.xda-developers.com/ showthread.php?t=893697 (sorry I can't post links)
The Galaxy case that is sold at hand held items (link to hand held in the above spaced out link) looks very similar to the iPad one too but is better because it's not an "i" product.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now for the good news, there are 7 custom cases in this thread.
I got a CLIP case from fellow xda member it2steve and I will say it is the first Apple quality case I've seen for our gTabs.

Thank you. I read that thread and a bunch of other ones on here too...I have seen many different options on here, but not many in the stores. I will look into the CLIP case further. What do people think about the CaseCrown case on Amazon for the G Tab?
I'd like to see those custom cases but your link does not work. It looks like this: you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons. Is there something top secret about a case. Tried link for case at link for electronic crap. Same message. WTF

Seems like I need a couple more posts to access it, thx

Steve's cases look much better than the Case Crown cases. I got one of the CC cases and it stopped "fitting" after a few weeks. Opening and folding the front back behind the tablet caused the bands to stop gripping the tablet and I just stopped using it overall.
I'd highly recommend looking at Steve's store: http://electroniccrap.com/store/ind...cription=1&keyword=viewsonic+g+tablet&x=0&y=0
I'd have gotten one of his, but he was out of stock so I ordered one of the cases with the keyboard built in (came out to be $35). I have to go pick it up at the post office, as it was delivered via registered mail and has to be signed for.
It's a great case but still not as good as a custom case

I was one of the early adopters of the CaseCrown case for the Kindle DX for my gTab. It looks pretty classy even though it's not real leather. Good quality construction. Some people were reporting that the elastic tabs at the top were getting lose with time but I've used mine for over three months and didn't notice that on mine. I have to say thought I didn't leave my gTab in the CaseCrown case when I was using it but only really had it in the case for transporting it from home to the office or some other away from home locale. The one thing I will report that is a slight negative about the CaseCrown is that after three months of use I did notice the side of the case that is up against the back of the gTab was getting slightly bent and the felt lining was beginning to bubble up a bit. Even with that slight issue this case I would highly recommend it. If you can part with the cash I would strongly direct you into the direction of one of the custom cases as those are more tailored for out gTabs.
I hope you enjoy your gTab as much as I do mine. I've basically replaced the need to lug around my really heavy beast of a work laptop and now do my off site work from my gTab accessing my laptop remotely via LogMeIn Ignition.
Since I've purchased my CLIP from it2steve I have put away my CaseCrown case. I have no use for it now so if you're interested I'll be happy to unload it on you for next to nothing. Send me a PM if you're interested.

I hope for your sake you didn't get the one that I had before I unloaded it on eBay. It does work but that's where the positive ended for me with that case. The case really looked CHEAP and I was embarrased to take it out in front of other people at work or at a client's site. Also, the keys are hard plastic (not silicone) so I was afraid it would rub against the gTab's screen and do damage since the case also didn't hold the gTab snug but rather let it slide around in there.
This case may be good for students but really is not suitable for a professional environment. It will definitely give the Apple fans something else to snicker at if you work around them.

Just picked it up from the Post Office today, works great but they sent me one with the wrong clip locations, even though I specified Viewsonic Get Tablet as they instructed.
I am going to fix it on my own as others have done because it took 3 weeks to get it.
Overall I'm very happy with it for the price of $35 total.

Best capacitive stylus (for the asus)

Hi,
I know the 'Adonit Jot' is quite popular on this area of the forum but I'll ask anyway
I've been looking at stylus's that would work well with the asus (handwriting ability would be helpful) and have come across the following stylus's in my search (that are easy to get hold of in the uk - aka amazon and ebay )
- Adonit Jot
- Media Devil Magic Wand
- Acase (2nd gen)
- Targus
- Griffin (both standard and slimline versions)
- Boxwave
- Dagi
- Samsung Capacative Stylus
have any of you tried out these stylus's and if so have you liked them or not (or is there a good stylus I have missed from my list?
Personally right now I'm leaning towards the griffin (as it is semi cheap and has good reviews) and getting one of each type (though as I could not find the slimline version on the griffin website i'm not sure if it is a fake or not) - it be nice if a nib type stylus existed but they don't seem to work on capacitive screens?!
Anyways, any opinion would be great on this
I personally really dislike writing with "normal" capacitive stylus (like Griffin or the capacitive Wacom). It's like trying to write with a fat felt-tip pen.
Adonit is of course great for writing. It can have skipping problem - then you have to get replacement discs or even replace the stylus, but their customer supports seems quite good. Dagi requires strict angle of writing if I remember correctly.
Adonit- Dont waste your time. you will be spending all of your waking hours getting replacement disks or a new stylus when it skips, or getting argued with from the cust service rep on the jot thread or waiting for days for cust service to respond to you. but other than that it was great for the 2 days it did not skip.
I have used both the griffin and acase genII- I recommend the acase- it works great on my TFR. but i also use rainx on my screen(it has not screen protector on it) aand that i think is what makes it not hang and respond very smoothly while handwritting. (Rainx- three coats about once every 3 weeks) Helps the stylus move smoothly and cuts down on finger prints.
Adonit has great customer service... but mine has been skipping since day 1. However, I have found a temporary fix while I wait for the (free) replacement disks. I use saliva to lubricate and conduct between the metal ball and the disk... I would use some other thing but I haven't found a gel around the apartment .

Don't listen to this fool. Read the Adonit Jot thread, the customer service manager never argued and offered great service, replacing the product several times to try to make him happy. He's being a baby and complaining about anything he can think of to try to make the product look worse.
The Jot works great. I love it.
Thanks for all the replies so far
I think it's comes down to a personal preference thing - some type of stylus's will work for some but not others!
I have to agree that the "standard" shaped stylus does look a bit difficult to draw and write with but it could be different once I try it out.................plus the transformer is not for me but my mum so it's what suits her.
The adonit jot looks like an interesting opinion - the major problem is that I'm located in the UK and that stylus is really marked up here ($33+ for the jot and $40+ for the pro) and the tip replacements aren't sold here and though can be bought via the official site costs $15.43 shipping per order which is mad........................... I wish we in the UK had as many opinions (and the same prices!) as those in the USA
i don't know if the following is UK only but the MediaDevil Magic wand looks interesting - same shape as the griffin, targus, etc................ but the reviews on amazon are really high and it's only about £10.
The acase 2nd gen looks interesting and easier to write with but i have read mixed reviews - many say that the material used for the tip is too soft so doesn't work so well but I don't know how true that is
Anyways thanks for the opinions and hope to hear more of peoples 2 cents on this topic so to speak
Edit: Rain x? - do you mean this stuff? (http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/rain-x/foaming-glass-cleaner.aspx) - is that safe to use on a tablet? (though it would be a tablet with a screen protector)
Search YouTube for "eee pad transformer gorilla glass" and watch the video Asus put together. You don't need a screen protector, and most will have negative effects on the performance of stylus.

What prices do you see on our official site, http://adonit.net? If the prices there are ok, you can buy a Jot and a pair of replacement discs with it, to save you buying them separately later, and saving you an extra shipping cost.
Something that I would consider, different styli are probably better for writing notes than for sketching drawings. I'd just use my finger for the former but a good stylus for the latter if possible. That's also why I've been watching this thread lol.
I'm not entirely sure capacitive = good idea for a stylus in general, but people seem to pull it off.

I always find it funny when the same 4 people are commenting 97% of the time ( as seen on the Jot thread) and it seems that if there is an opinion that they dont agree on then they attack that person.
Listen G I am glad you love your jot so much - you probably sleep with it under your pillow.
But unfortunately there are alot of people who have problems with the Jot and answering someone others question i gave that person my opinion. Who are you to even involve your self with criticising my answer.
I hope they do read the entire jot thread to see what i mean.
1 important point to look for is all the excuses that pop up about why the jot is skipping. bad batch of disks, even though some people have use like 6 of them, try using conductive grease, try using saliva, try using the packaging from the bag the extra disks were sent in, not enough conductivity- now thats funny, and the list goes on,
Uh, not sure about anyone else but when i spend $30ish on a stylus- I expect it to work out of the box and don't expect to return disks over and over, or stand on my right leg after i hocked a flem ball into it - to get it to work properly.
Buy it at your own risk....but there are many other options out there.
Not a baby but i expect a little more out of a product when i buy it.
Now i am not sure when it became acceptable on this forum for an employee of a company to push their product on every thread about a stylus. Perhaps that is why he is banned on the apple thread he mentioned.

Are you actually implying that I am connected to Adonit in some way? LOL. I just got it under a week ago. I just started posting in the thread under a week ago. I'm a retired moderator, ffs. But yeah, go ahead and question the reasoning behind my posts. They're clearly all spam for Adonit.
As for Adonit "pushing their product in every thread" -- this is most certainly a LIE in your behalf. I've already told Jon that as long as he keeps it in the few threads where CS is required, it's okay. Did you not pay attention to that part of the thread either?

No I understand you are a fanboy not an employee..... and yes i was speaking about Jon as an employee.
Bottom line the product is flawed. And if the best you guys can do is attack someone with an opinion for others who are thinking about buying this thing or nonstop excuses about how to make a broken one work....good luck
Yeah i know this thread was clearly screaming out for Jons help and that is why he took the time to plug his website...
Come on a retired Mod should understand this......well at least one who isn;t a fanboy.
What I understand is that you said Jon had argued with you in that thread. Could you find the part where he treated you badly, and post it for us to see? Could you also find the part of the thread where Jon offered you several replacements in an attempt to make you happy, and eventually offered a full refund to you? Do you not understand that Adonit owed you *absolutely nothing* and went out of their way *and took a loss* just to make you happy? It's not like they get the stylus back, then resell them. So 4 stylus given away essentially, considering you got the refund.
I don't see how that's arguing with you.

Listen this is my last response to your pettiness..... What in hell makes you the spokes person for them.
Lets start off by saying i sent the jot back to them and got my refund, they did not just give me a refund and let me keep it.....that was after 5 disks did not work.
If you read my post i said nothing but good things about the jot and that i was even interested in buying it again after the issues were fixed. My issues with cust service were through their official site with the long delays in comminucation and deliverery.
On the jot thread and their site I mentioned i needed a working stylus for the amount of work i do on my TFR each day and did not have the time to wait a week +each time. I thanked Jon numerous times for his efforts but the time when i started to get annoyed is when he like you felt the need to comment on every thing i posted when i was giving feedback to others who asked questions.
Stop pestering me with your fanboy crap. I am entitled to my opinions especially when someone asks for it....I think that if someone asks for an opiniion on a thread they are entitled to hear good experiences and bad experiences without either opinion getting attacked.
We get it....you love it...GREAT . i wish i had a better experience with it but i didn't.....by the way it has only been a week...i hope it doesn't starts to skip on you.
This is not the only thread about the jot that Jon is spamming.....One he already got kicked off.
I'm no moderator here but will you guys (and or gals) take this outside? I'm interested in this thread not in your semi-related discuession, and odds are it's better to have one thread for "Best capacitive stylus (for the asus)" and one for y'all to give us something we can pop corn and read.
It's certainly more a pop corn eater than on topic in my honest opinion.

You didn't do this. Probably because you know you can't. So you should probably go edit your post about this, as it clearly isn't true. Lol'd at you accusing Jon of spamming, though. Are you seriously delusional/idiotic enough to believe that what Jon is doing in that thread is spamming? The thread is already made. He's answering peoples questions and helping customers. You're really, really thick if you think that is spamming, period.
I'm done, now. Apologies for the off-topic bickering, just can't stand some of these self-entitled people.

From what I can gather there is 3 sort of capacitive stylus's availiable to buy:
- The bog standard rounded end stylus made out of rubber/foam (such as boxwave, griffin, targus, etc....) - good for general tablet navigating (these come in normal 9mm? nib ends or the 'slimline' versions with about a 6mm end)
- The 'precision plastics' (the adonit jots and Dagi) - probably the best sort for precision/detail work such as handwriting and perhaps sketching but perhaps not so great for general navigation things
- The conductive fiber cloth stylus (Aponyo and Kosella (don't know if these are the same people but their are 2 different websites!) - these look similar to the bog standard stylus's just they use conductive fiber in their nibs instead of rubber. On the downside the nib looks softer/easier to press into itself which may annoy some people. Plus side though their seems like there would be less friction with the screen with the fiber tip than with a rubber tip and less likely to scratch. It looks like it be good for doing artwork/mimicking a paintbrush
I don't think after all i've read that there is (currently) a stylus type out there that can tick all the job boxes (unless you only need one box ticked like just using the tablet to take notes or surf the web)
Any (or at least the majority) of artists out there would need more than 1 type of pencil or one type/size of brush and perhaps that is the way that stylus's should be looked at for the time being at least.
I'm thinking that it may be a good idea to try out one of all 3 and hopefully at least one will suit. At the moment i'm leaning towards:
- Griffin for the bog standard stylus (cheap and very good reviews) - I just can't decide between the normal or slimline sizes
- Adonit Jot for the precision/handwriting stuff (I take what everyone has said on this - pos and neg stuff alike but if it works as it should it it would tick a few of those boxes the griffin can't (or at least as well) and I've managed to contact a couple of UK retailers that have excellent customer service (and direct links to adonit themselves) - i still wants to double check a few things but all in all it looks promising)
- At time of writing i'm contacting Aponyo and Kosella to find out more about the stylus's and see if they sell/have retailers in the uk. However there is a seller on ebay selling a mock or oem/factory direct of the Kosella stylus's (looks exactly the same apart from lack of logo) - the price is good and sometimes the fake's/oem's can be just as well made as the official ones without the price tag - I'm interested in comparing it to the rubber nib stylus.
I'm still not sure whether I'll get a screen protector or not - I've always been a 'better safe than sorry' person and if the protector doesn't affect the stylus much then it's worth having in my book.
I have a couple of spare screen protectors for my dsi xl around the house (and I believe screen protectors of any gadget are designed not to leave a mark when taken off) - I was thinking about putting one of those on and compare the stylus's functionality with and without a screen protector side by side before deciding whether to purchase a screen protector or not..................well I thought it was a neat idea
Anyway keep the opinions coming and I hope the above post may of helped some other

There isn't really a need for a screen protector on the Transformer. There's no chance a stylus could scratch it.

Well, the problem some people (such as myself) have with someone like you is not that you have a negative opinion on a product. The problem is you go above and beyond in your criticism. Allow me to explain.
So, you started out with having skipping problems. So, adonit sent you 2 replacement discs (or more than that). You claimed to still have skipping problems so adonit was more than willing to take your jot back and gave you a full refund. Listen, I'm in my late 20s and I can assure you that based on my experience that's as good as customer service can ever get in this world. Be glad that there's a CS rep here who is very interactive with their customers. Most companies would just ignore your inquiries. I often make this comparison.
Would you rather adonit be like most other companies where all your complaints fall on deaf ears?
You're also ignoring the vast majority of us who have never had a problem with the jot. This is why when my friend asked me which stylus he should get I showed him the jot. For me, I barely have to put any pressure on it when I write. The response is simply put phenomenal for me. But when my friend tried it on his TF, it skipped like a mofo. When I tried it on his TF, worked just fine.
We then tried did a series of experiments. Same TF, same jot, same angle, different user. Each and every time when I use the jot with barely any pressure the response is instantaneous. But when my friend tried to use it, it skipped like a mofo.
Our experiments are perfect proof that different styli work for different people. Our working theory is different people have different electrostatic potential.
You, sir, are the reason why so far I've turned away more than half the people who have contacted me for modifying the dock and soldering in a 500 gb hard drive. You're also the reason why I quit my job as a cop. When you whine, you really really whine.
One person even demanded some kind of warranty from me for the mod of his dock. Am I glad I didn't even consider his offer, which was like $30 below my offer to college students. I just told him I was no longer doing it so he could go away. Thankfully, he did go away.
So, I don't mind you criticize the adonit jot. I really don't. I think it is healthy that we have choice in our lives. So, criticize all you want. What I have a problem with is you exaggerate the problem, ignore all the customer service that you received, and then whine nonstop.
You remind me of that Judge in DC that sued the Korean couple who supposedly lost his pants in their dry cleaning business for $54 million. In fact, perhaps that is you.

Added by edit.
And no, I don't work for adonit. I don't think they'd have any use for a structural engineer like myself.

Spamming? Are you like rain man or something? You can't tell the difference between answering an inquiry and spamming? Someone stated he was wondering about something or other and Fort answered his inquiry. How is that spamming?
Again, would you rather deal with a company that responds directly to you when you ask for something or would you rather deal with a company that acts more like god? Pray all you want, god works in mysterious ways...

Asus Transformer Prime keyboard dock case in brown

Looks like they are releasing this in 2 days!! http://pctabletcases.com/2012/01/18...-eee-transformer-prime-tf201-tablet-and-dock/
Best case hands down the brown is pretty classy!
*sigh*
More fricken leather....
Its a decent looking case but why can't we get a modern looking case using modern materials. I don't hate leather, but lets keep in in shoes and belts and off our our cutting-edge gadgets.
I rather prefer the "leather" or faux leather casings for tablets.
I feel like they tend to offer more style and can give the look of an actual accessory, which is pretty cool, IMO.
I sort of want this brown colorway. It's more "authentic" looking, compared to the black one.
Sent from one impressive piece of technology.
To each their own, of course. However there are currently a dozen or two options for people who want a "leather" style case, and practically none for people who don't like leather. Since the customers who want a leather style product are pretty covered it would just be nice if manufacturers would cater to everyone else for a while.
Thanks for the info, but i prefer the Black one...
Thanks for posting this, I really want a case that can accommodate the keyboard and dock that allows me to remove it and use it as a tablet with minimal fuss this maybe what I am looking for can't wait until it releases!
If there are any other cases like this please let me know.
Just ordered mine now... did overnight shipping after it is released officially, tomorrow.

i agree, plus all the leather cases have the same cheap look (online at least)
if someone could make a case out of canvas with contrasting colors and attractive stitching, i'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I hate how cheap they look......
Well read the specs, they are NOT leather.
Straight from minisuits spec....
"Made with premium poly-urethane leather"
What we used to call naugahyde or pleather. Some are upset that they cant find anything that isnt leather.....well here ya go! Its not. Me, IM paitiently waiting for one that IS REAL LEATHER!
Just received mine in the mail this afternoon, and I must say... the packaging is first class, and exquisite.
Secondly, the case is a perfect fit, very snug and durable.
Materials used... exceptional. Not to mention, it looks legitimately like leather.
I highly, highly recommend purchasing one of these cases from Amazon.

[Q] Case Choice Dilemma

Hi everyone,
I just bought my Transformer Prime last week, and I am faced with a major dilemma. I'm scared to death that I'm going to drop it, so I've been using the case I bought for my granddaughter's original Transformer. It doesn't quite fit, but it works.
I'm trying to decide how to protect my new tablet. I like the look of leather and a well-padded case would provide good protection, and the ones with stands are very utilitarian. However, it would be a shame to cover up such a beautiful device! (After all, its good looks are one of its strong selling points.)
Has someone found a good solution for protecting their tablet while still being able to show it off?
(I apologize if this question has already been answered; if so, please just point me to a link. Sometimes it's really hard to find the right search terms.)
Thanks!
I have ordered the case shown in link below. In my case I have the Dock also and this seems to me the Best available. Though this might not be what you need thought I would at least post it for you.

Since we have an Accessories Forum for the Transformer Prime that discusses accessories like cases, created for or compatible with the Transformer Prime, you might look there for answers first.
This thread in the Accessories forum would be a good place to start:
Ultimate Transformer PRIME TF201 Accessory Guide
Check out this one
This is the one I will be sporting once it is available... April 16...

I've got a simple 10" laptop/tablet neoprene sleeve. The prime fits nicely inside it with or without the dock attached. Apart from that i dont have any protection on it right now and its been working well for me. Having it for 2 months now and i dont have any scratches. And i have it with me most of the times in my backpack or guitarcase.

Forgive me if someone already posted, but I bought a leather case from Best Buy made by a well known name..Targus.
It does offer great protection and has the stand built in, a nice velvet/cashmir type fabric inside. I don't have the link but it's the only one that the Best Buy by me had so I grabbed it. It was $40.00
This ISN'T my Transformer Prime
Yeah there are a lot to choose from on Amazon.com. This is the one I went with, I'm happy overall:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063Q3G3I/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Thanks!
Thank you, RonH54. That looks like a very nice case. The problem is that although the front of the keyboard is visible, the back of the keyboard and pretty much everything on the tablet itself is pretty much covered--so no one can see how nice it looks. (My dilemma....)
I'm also a little concerned about the very negative review I saw there!
joedeveloper, the Moko also looks very nice, but also has the same issues. And Pixelation, I haven't seen the Targus case, but I assume it covers the tablet as well. Am I right? And finally, Gage_Hero...!!!! What can I say? That looks like a pretty extreme solution. I don't plan to treat my tablet in a way that I would need anything like that.
almightywhacko, thank you for the link. I had already seen it, and looked at most of the cases there, but got discouraged because they all looked pretty much the same and all covered the tablet so you couldn't see it. I tried to post my question in the Accessories Forum first, but was told that I was breaking forum rules by posting a question there and that I needed to post in the Q&A forum--so here I am.
I've never seriously considered a sleeve, but clouds5, thanks for the suggestion. There are several listed in the Accessories Forum thread, so I intend to look at them. That might be the best compromise, because the tablet would be protected when it most needed it, but would be on display when I was actually using it.
The only other option that has occurred to me is a clear case. Something like the Invisible Shield wouldn't provide enough impact protection (although I would need something like that for the screen to prevent scratches)--but there might be a clear case out there that is more protective. Has anyone seen something like that?
Again, thanks to everyone for your contributions. You have given me some new ideas. (Sorry to be so slow--I've tried several times to post over the past couple of days, but kept being told that "the token had expired", whatever that means!)
I have 6 cases. I am not kidding. 6.
Like you, I have a tf101 sleeve that works for basic thin protection (given to me by a friend that didn't like it for their og). I have a neoprene case (another give-me). I have a non-tf202 specific hard-ish case made by CaseLogic that I like a lot because it will hold the tablet+dock and it is very durable. I have the MiniSuit linked to above for the tablet+dock and it sucks. Badly. They are a good company and they have done right by me, refunded my money, etc, but the design is horrible with a very basic flaw - the leather is way too thick where the dock meets tablet and that is just not going to be good over time. I have "modified" it with a pair of scissors so that it wont break my tablet+dock - it does make a nice case for carrying and using them both. I also have the MiniSuit 360 case. I really like that one because the tablet is detachable from the case.
IMO = The best one is the one joedeveloper linked to. Slim, good protection and really shows off the Prime. It is the only one that does not cover the bezel. It is very "configurable" and you can use the dock WITH it. I can be folded half way back and then half of the beautiful back is "shown".
I have the full body skinomi skin for my tablet and dock so I have that as added protection so I son't mind using my dock with that case because I know my dock wont get scratched. But i wont use that if I need to carry or travel with the dock, I'd use one of the other ones.
So...slugbug2010,
Let me make sure I understand you. You like the MoKo case "best" because it doesn't cover the bezel, but it doesn't give enough protection to travel with it? So you would recommend buying a second case for traveling with it (in addition to a full-body skin)?
I can't tell from looking at it and reading about it on Amazon if it covers the keyboard, or just the tablet itself. If it covers both, can the two pieces be separated? If it doesn't cover the keyboard, I'd need to have a separate sleeve or something to protect it.
Can you and joedeveloper elaborate a little more, please?
Thanks!
You can get some balls for your Eee pad if you are afraid of dropping it.
http://iballz.info/universal.html
Reading your post again, it looks like you want a clear TPU case like this one made for the iPad http://www.amazon.com/CrazyOnDigital-Accessories-Cover-Retail-Package/dp/B004RRU7NM
However sadly no company has yet stepped up to the task of making such a case. Theoretically a TPU case would provide decent drop protection and not alter the look of the tablet much. And since it is so thin it would work well with a sleeve for added padding when not in use.
Yes, the TPU case looks like it might be along the lines of what i want--but it appears that I'm out of luck.
texstar, the iBalls are a really interesting concept (despite the name). I'm thinking they might be the perfect thing for my granddaughter's Transformer, providing some protection and leaving the tablet easier to use than the traditional case I already have for her.
As far as using them with my Prime--they certainly would expose the tablet itself, but I'm not sure I like the "quirky" look mentioned by some of the reviewers. It's also not clear whether or not they might cover up some of the ports and controls.
If your post was a serious one, do you own them? Has anyone tried them on your tablets?
Joedeveloper and Slugbug2010, are you still there? I really like the Moko case, but it's tablet only. The Minisuit looks nice, too, but seems to be thicker than what I'm looking for. I think I need a combination of the two....
Those of you who are using the Moko and have a dock, do you have a separate case for it, use a sleeve, or just leave it unprotected?
Thanks again for all your help.
