(List) of working roms w/ mobile data T-MOBILE USA - Optimus One, P500, V General

Well this thread is specifically for T-Mobile USA users on v20g baseband..for those noobs who don't know..v20 is new baseband...I wanted to compile a list of working roms with working mobile data..the only problem: I don't have a computer and typing on a virtual keyboard is time consuming and tedious..as far as I know, another thread like this doesn't exist..there are a few roms that flash perfectly but the only problem is most of em don't give you working data..if anyone has pointers on how to fix the solution..speak your mind...I've been emailed quite frequently about all of this so I'm not undermining anyone's advice...one senior member gave me a suggestion but I have yet to try it, if you want to try it let me know and ill post results...I want this thread to help other tmobile usa users out

Currently I'm on perfectpeso v2.3 and yes I have working data but I believe that's because its based from kang sources...I might be wrong so correct me if I am....I know other roms like cm9 are also based from kang sources but for some reason mobile data does not work...I once tried funny sim fix but that didn't work either as it was meant for old baseband..I have yet to see a sim fix for new baseband..also I've been asked before if I had a 128 bit sim card, I'm not sure what I have..how do I find out what kind of sim card I have? I can't remember precisely which roms aren't working for me but one in particular comes to mind and that's popdog123's oxygen v2.7..it flashes fine but I get no mobile data

I have been trying to get the new Bb on my p509 optimous t however I have unable to determine if its compatible with my phone, the last update I could find was 10e

V10 is old baseband...you need v20 series...there should be a post within the forums that talks about flashing baseband and provides a v20g zip file....all you do is unzip file. Its a 7z file format, run LGMDP v1.5 and everything else is peachy

On V20G as well and haven't found one with working data. Just running ICS at the moment and hoping a fix will come out.
The CM7 rooms worked with aspee's fix for me.

Just got my phone updated and.....

Hi - this is a strange one....went through the walkthoughs and docs relating to downgrading my mates legend and then doing the s-off thing and then clockwork mod and then finally froyo.
All that went relatively fine ( a few hiccups along the way but im there ) the phone started out life as being a stock vodafone model and is now - obviously generic. Problem is, is that now i want to put an asda mobile sim in there (works off of the back of vodafone) it cant see their network - not only that - if i put my vodafone sim in there it cant see vodafone either,
Not really sure where to start so i thought id start here
This may not be the right place to post but seeing as it all worked before the rom update i thought this was as good as place as any to start.
thanks to anyone that chips in
Comfy
Try updating the radio, search dev section for radio
yup- good call - it was on 7.03 or something like that - ive got it up to 7.13.35.13 but it hasnt cured the problem....going to try another image now ive got clockwork mod on there....any other suggestions? i say that in a constructive way as ive never seen anything like this before...
tried a cyanogen nightly - which did work either (a bit crashy) but i can only see (at the moment t-mobile) just thought id post to let you know...
Im pretty lost on it all?! Vodafone Legends (UK) are sim unlocked at factory (the reason i bought one on Voda) Ive used Tesco sim, GiffGaff, Orange and O2 with no problems!
Have you tried putting a standard rom on there?
Try this one its the Froyo update standard apart from root.if that works any better you can try loading the rom you want then pushing libhtc_ril.so file across.
Also was this second hand? It may have been blocked due to Loss or Theft? Phone Voda and ask if your imei has been reported or blocked
Yeah, it was a secondhander...ill have to check...got cm 7 nightly on there which works with my work o2 data sim.....can I flash that stock rom without going over clockwork mod....took me ages to get that on!
Thanks for the reply....

Official Gingerbread Update for Optimus T (P509)

I've been waiting for the gingerbread update for my T-Mobile Optimus T for so long. Googled for update today and here's what I found:
w w w. ehow. com/ how_12120364_download-android-23-lg-optimus-t. html
(just delete the spaces in the URL)
I am at work now and can't check whether this info is accurate. Does anyone know if the update has indeed been released?
Thanks.
Why use official when you have better roms like miks port on Cyanogen or SonyGen (Which I prefer)
Its false. I tried it and it does not work.

Can you, please, provide a link to a Gingerbread ROM that is fully functional with correct baseband? Thanks.
I'm on my phone so it's a bit hard but optimus t being the US version of p500h? It'll never officially get the gingerbread rom I heard somewhere.
Link of rom a currently use:

Great rom for battery life. If you need more help post back here. I and other members will help you out.

Appreciate your taking time. Here come n00b questions:
1) Will this work with Optimus T (P509). Couldn't find any info on which Optimus model this is for. AFAIK, P500 ROMs are no good for P509.
2) Any major issues?
3) It says the ROM uses the old baseband. What does it mean? Will 3G/4G work? Wi-Fi?
4) Oh, and will I be able to revert back to official firmware in case LG decides to release an official update?
Thanks.

1. Yes. All P500 ROMs are compatible with the P509 (but FWIW, you will lose the T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling feature).
2. No. Read the known bugs list.
3. Wi-Fi and data will work with the old baseband (which is what you are using now).
4. Make a backup before you flash a new ROM (it is also possible to download the original firmware from LG).
1) why wouldn't the rom work on optimus t by the looks of google image its the same phone just renamed. I can check in the specs tomorrow (11:40pm here and class starting at 8:30am).
2) old baseband is what you want to keep. The new baseband has some sort of new feature which disables the Data transfer so you want the old baseband.
3) you can always get the original firmware back to your phone using the kdz updater thibgy which is made by LG but I highly doubt you wil want that. I'll link you up in the mornig if I've got time or maybe someone else will.
I noticed somene else replied and well I didn't answer the questions in order

IIRC ROMs for different Optimus One-based models (One, V, S, T) may not be compatible with each other as they work on different 3G bands/frequencies. This is what I heard so I just want to confirm. Thanks.
Can you, guys, also provide a link to a guide on how to backup and flash ROMs/firmware? I am relatively tech savvy when it comes to computers but an absolute noob when Android is concerned. Million thanks.
BOGUS as others have stated.
The below site lists all newly released LG roms and the 509 ain't on the list
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/agent_phonesw_notice_list.jsp
Optimus T and Optimus One have slightly different 3g basebands.
Fortunately, Andy and mik are in no hurry to support the new baseband and with the FD bug why would they.

They are not all compatible; only the Optimus T (P509) is compatible with the Optimus One (P500). I don't have a data plan, but AFAIK, there isn't an issue with 3G when using a P500 ROM on a P509 with T-Mobile US.
This guide covers most of the steps.

so im a little bit let down right now, after the update, i didnt get exactly what i expected. i went from 2.2 to 2.2.2, which i suppose any update is better than none, but i had been using the p500 2.3 kdz for a while now and was excited to see i may not have to manually input my APN settings everytime for my data and mms to work after a restore..
hopefully the p500 is a sign that well be recieving 2.3 eventually, just not right now lol
so I installed the V10S which broke the root ability even with Gingabreak I cannot get it to root.
Do you guys have any tips on what to do?
Also I would like to test 2.3 on my Optimus T because the canvas element should be accelerated and run HMTL5 based games faster.
I am currently developing a game and thus would like to test this speed improvement.
But honestly after spending days on the web I am more than confused about if there is a Android 2.3 rom for the US T-Mobile LG Optimus T which also runs stable and supports all functions including the Google apps.
Help to put an end to my noob level would be much appreciated !!!

MechanicaIMan:
I really like the information you have contributed here, I'd like to get my P509 running the same rom set up you have, but I'm not sure if I can because I updated my baseband when I flashed my current ROM. By the way is there anyway to manipulate the CPU to an ARMv7?
Here's my phone info:
Model: LG-P500 (actually a P509)
Android Version: 2.3.7
Baseband Version: LGP500AT-00-V20g-OPEN-COM-JUN-14-2011+0
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.10-cyanogenmod [email protected]))
CPU info: ARMv6-compatible processor rev 5 (v6l)
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7-02202012-NIGHTLY-OptimusOne
Build number: GWK74
Thanks in advance.
Somebody PLEASE answer....
like someone said earlier, i too was let down when i saw the update was for a 2.2.2!!
Is the Optimus T getting/has an "official" gingerbread update?

CM9 with Old Baseband and maybe other stuff

Hi all,
So this is just to help noobs and similar with what I tried so that I got the CM9 port by lupohirp to work. As you know the CM9 thread is devs/geeks only and not quite intended for feedback and discussion. The same applies to the new KANG thread
P.S. Lupohirp, this is just to help you and not to take away any of your credit!!
A brief background so that those with similar situations can relate and not ask too many questions. I asked all that I needed so I don't think you should have more. And if you do, I am unable to answer most of those.
So here goes:
- I first had stock Froyo
- Then Rooted with z4root and got ClockworkMod and so on
- then put on CM7 by mik_os which works with old baseband only.
(baseband is the bit that allows your phone to talk to a cellular network)
So the baseband story once again after the hundreds of posts on it. Froyo (2.2.x) from LG has the old baseband. Those LG phones that got upgraded to factory gingerbread (2.3.x) were also upgraded to the new baseband. However coming to custom ROMs the story is different. Some work with the old e.g. mik_os CM7 and some work with new e.g. official CM7 by adfad666 and unofficial CM9 by lupohirp.
That means, since I had Froyo and then moved to mik_os CM7, I still have old baseband.
- moving to today, I wanted a new ROM and got excited by the CM7 and CM9 ports. Both said they want new baseband.
Two ways of going about this:
1. Upgrade to new baseband via the various ways (KDZ, etc) which seems to be a bit scary from the instructions though it might not be!
2. Get old baseband to work with the new ROMs. This is possible based on what I read here. The file is available here under the Old Baseband paragraph.
So I decided to go with Option 2 since, baseband can be upgraded/downgraded irrespective of the ROM. The difference will always be that only one will work by default and the other one is a patch away.
So now,
- I got the zip file for the cm9 beta from that thread
- I got appropriate gapps (ics version not gb) - http://goo-inside.me/gapps
- I got the old baseband fix from the baseband link in Option 2 above.
- I put the gapps and the cm9 zip in the root of the sdcard for ease of access
Now using ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0 (remember 5.0.2.0 is for old (and probably new) baseband and 5.0.2.7 is for new)
- wiped /cache, /data, /system, /sd-ext
- left /boot as is. This is of utmost importance. You wipe this, you're on your own (ok not so bad but if you do, do not RESET your phone, learn how to get it back and then fix it)
- and /sdcard contains the new files so do not wipe it
So then the usual route, flash the zip after selecting it. obviously CM9 first. Then the gapps file. You can do the gapps file after a restart as well.
Now everything should be ok except your cell signal. That should be dull/inactive, etc. If you go phone status it will also not have much there.
So now get the old baseband fix files. extract to a folder of choice. adb push these three files to /system/lib/ (I just learnt that you should have 2MB free in /system AFTER the copying)
P.S. adfad666 has advised against doing this because of a risk of corruption. I don't know why, I couldn't get them in any other way so I took the risk since the fix is just a recovery away, so if you do this its your own risk
I then rebooted the phone and all was well.
Tested 2G and 3G and data as well. I didn't see whether it did HSDPA or not. The SIM also had all the APNs etc ready. SMS is good too!
Thread Summary
So this here is a companion thread (hopefully) to the main dev thread. Its for people not reporting bugs but closer to how something is done. Those doing patches and stuff still go to the main thread. There is another companion thread here as well which I had not seen.
A brief summary of what has happened so far:
- lupohirp has compiled ICS for our beloved Optimus One P500s from CM9 source code. It comes with Apex Launcher as of the latest beta.
- there is active work going on and people complain about things here and there and provide great feedback.
- this thread was started for noobs trying to get old baseband to work (Many thanks to aspee's thread here for the baseband info!) with the CM9 port but I felt like helping out more so I am explaining what I know.
- some alternate kernels have been compiled whose links are further down this post.
- somewhere along the line CM team has decided that we can get official CM9 subject to some coding practices being fulfilled

Because he is awesome.
Is it for everyone?
No, but you can have it.
What baseband?
Any, new works out of the 'box'. Old has instructions above.

What I know does not work so far in my experience:
- WiFi status bar indicator is dull although the connection is fine
- Camera does not work with standard Camera app and Camera ZOOM FX
- Link2SD is unable to create mount scripts no matter the partition file system so its a bit of a pain now to install apps
All the above are known issues.

Old baseband fix
The old baseband fix does not work, I copied the files from the zip folder over but my phone still has no network, can anybody help me?
Kernels has nothing to do with mobile data...and I'm glad someone has said something about this thread,I imagine OP faces same problem as me ? T-Mobile USA,I'd assume ? You go to flash new baseband (v20g) than flash cm9..you get working wifi and notification signal bars illuminated but no signal status icon ie...3g/hdma ? From what I know, these fixes are being worked on..

I am not sure why. I have old baseband. I flash the images as usual. And when I feel like it, I overwrite the files with the old baseband fix and everything works. Including the status indicator for 3g hspa. The wifi indicator doesn't display signal strength but everyone knows that. As far as I know some sims still have issues and that is with regards to getting apn info out of the sim.
If the normal fix doesn't work, why don't you try aspee fix?

Yes indeed kernels and mobile data files are independent from what we see here. Actually my issue was using these ROMs that needed new baseband. So a lot were asking about old baseband. So I looked around and put a thread about it. I stayed away from new baseband since its a lot more of a risky upgrade than a ROM flash!
It is risky,I had a scare recently when I had a ln AMSS error and phone was stuck on emergency mode (god I'm glad I didn't take the battery out or disconnect) I've flashed from v10e to v20g about 6 times..I stuck to v10e with using old baseband fix...I've been wanting to find a reason why tmobile usa doesn't have working 3g/hdma etc... on v20 basebands versions but I'm sure someone will have fixed soon...as far as cm9 ? I have personally not tested using old baseband fix but I've heard from more people about it not working than from people saying it works, even Arjen himself recommended me to do that, good guy...I still have yet to figure out why we can't add apn's manually

So now, for cm9, should we switch to new baseband LGMDP method or should we choose the second option on continueing with old baseband...??
I would take 2nd option

Dev of NightyFourE V4.3.2!

Hi all, I'm posting here because I haven yet gotten the privilege to post in the development section, although I've been following android development keenly. Okay, I'd like to bring it to the notice of the dev of NightlyFourE.. that I flashed the latest version of his ROM ie V4.3.2 yesterday on my Optimus One with the old baseband, and downloaded the old baseband fix from PerfectPeso's website (aspee's patch didn't work for me)
Everything worked fine, until I found out that data doesn't work after I disable it and again try to re-enable it.. once or twice it did.. and then the same thing. I tried rebooting too.
Not that I'm complaining, just wanted to bring it to the notice of the dev, he and the community might find this interesting
Upgrade to new BB
Have you tried aspee's old baseband fix instead,I've used that one on nearly every new baseband rom other than blackbird or cm9..look for fix in dev section.the title of the tread is old baseband fix

OP you have T-Mobile USA right ? If you ever need the apn's,let me know

Downloaded aspee's fix.. Works
When I'd previously downloaded, it was some 50-60kB.. this time it was 2.7mB so I guess something was wrong with the previous fix
Works like a charm
@Jrhodes85: Thanks buddy but I'm an airtel user, India

hey guy !!NightlyFourE v4.3.2 only for new bb , why are u use baseband fix from PerfectPeso's website ? if this way succesdfull dave of NightlyFourE said it'd for both-bb , plz read the information about rom before flash,.
I am apprehensive updating to new baseband. So I used the old BB patch.. used the one from PerfectPeso's website because aspee's earlier patch didn't work. The new updated one does.

he mentioned it in the later posts that the rom can be used with the old bb too...
I'm a US T-Mobile user, the new CM nightly 20120303(#35 essentially) has working data now without patching for new BB. Old BB fix works too.

@Paulenski oh, so it was basically a bug in the previous nightlies, I assume. Awesome that they've made it work.

REQUEST & POLL - Looking for Dev(s) to help create CDMA Patch, for SE Based GSM Roms

REQUEST & POLL - Looking for Dev(s) to help create CDMA Patch, for SE Based GSM Roms
I am sure I will get a notification that I need to place this is another section, but I wanted to post this where all the devs can see it.
Myself and a few others have been discussing working on creating a CDMA patch that will allow R800x users to flash any Xperia PLAY GSM rom to our phones, then flashing this patch to allow us to use our phone as if we flashed a CDMA rom.
If any dev or devs are interested and or would like to participate myself and many many other users would be extremely grateful as it would greatly increase the choices of ROMs that we can flash.
If anyone is interested in seeing this happen please post in the POLL above.
This patch would be for Sony Ericcson based GSM ROMs, like True Ancestor, JokaWild, etc. Not CM7, CM9 roms, as I am aware there is a CDMA patch for that.
This already exists. Check the first post of this thread.

Translation: He is referring to GB ROMs primarily, I think. But thanks for that link, didn't know it existed.

It does not already exist. The thread your linking is has a zip file containing the baseband libs and build.prop edits for certain roms to work but it is not a "CDMA Patch"
The CDMA patch that is being talked about here would contain a modified SemcPhone.apk , which we currently do not have for the newer firmwares
Here is a link to the Old CDMA Patch that was used for UK firmware [.145] to work on the R800x, It will not patch 2.3.4 UK firmwares or the ICS Beta.
http://db.tt/HOi4V4by
He is also possibly referring to the ICS Beta. That converter zip only works for roms that are based on CM9. As little use as I believe this CDMA patch would have, I still support it, if only for the fact that I'm using an R800x, and acknowledge that there's a lot we're left out on. Getting CM9 to work is easy enough, and CM7 works as well, so I would think it's possible.
No, we have a CDMA patch for CM9 already.
It's as plain as can possibly be! We need a CDMA patch to make GSM ROMs based on real GB work on the R800x. Examples would be True Ancestor, Gin2ICS, etc. Ideally, we would get something that works on 2.3.4 and up. CM7 is optional but frankly not nearly as interesting as the others, imho.

Yes, this is what I am referring to. I am aware there is a CDMA Patch for CM7, CM9. What I am hoping to do is get enough interest in a CDMA Patch to allow R800x users to use Sony Ericcson GSM ROMs on your PLAYS. Such as you mentioned, True Ancestor, JokaWild, etc.
My coworkers old android phone was a CDMA varietn (HTC I believe) and he said his old phone had a CDMA patch to allow it to use the GSM ROMs for the same phone on his. Yes I realize different manufacturer, thus different framework, etc
So yes, CDMA patch for Sony Ericcson GSM Roms to run on our R800x.

The thread contains a flashable zip that you flash after flashing a GSM rom that makes the rom work on R800x. Only for CM9 though.
This is different from the "CDMA Patch" that was floating around previously.
EDIT: Though it doesn't have the verizon APN settings built in, apparently.

I will try to port my rom to cdma.
Firstly, can anyone tell me the newest version firmware of cdma? with download link is better.
Since I don't have a cdma device, l need some testers.

No, it's 2.3.3, there isn't an ftf file for 2.3.4, doubt there will be either..Plus the 2.3.4 update is majorly flawed so it'd be easier going with 2.3.3. No baseband update or "upgrades" in the 2.3.4 update anyway

That's the 2.3.3, I think. 2.3.4 is the most recent, but we don't have kernel sources yet. And since it probably won't be pushed to SEUS, we most likely won't have an .ftf for 2.3.4
Edit: you just barely beat me to it.

Oh man... HUGE thank you. Been really wanting to try your ROM out, I would be happy to beta test it for you. Thank you. Also, what part of CH you from? My wife is from the Guangxi province (closer towards Vietnam) and our last visit to CH was for 6 months, loved it. Hope you dont mind me asking just curious is all. Anyway thank you again for the CDMA port.... can't wait.

The latest version of firmware for Verizon is 4.0.2.E.0.57 and is Android version 2.3.4. As stated, we don't have an FTF for it. I don't know if a nandroid backup would be of any help to you, but if you want one, let me know.

I need ftf file to port my rom, since some system apps need 2.3.4 kernel support.
So what I decide to do first is to port it to 2.3.3 gsm to ensure everything works ok.
