If your phone doesn't have that language, which you want, then you can't put phone to that language. There are no language packs for Android.

Support for Devanagri and Bengali Scripts

Hello all,
I want to address an issue that is bothering the users of Android since G1. The android OS does not support complex script rendering.
The issue has been addressed in Google Code:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4153
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=5925
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564480
But Google Engineers have yet to come up with a solution. Most probably the issue is caused by patent restrictions. Most vendors give support to regional languages in their regional firmware.
Now some users of Arabic had same problem. By replacing libskia.so and other files, it was possible to add arabic support to a non supporting firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749620
http://forum.androidspin.com/showthread.php/2376-Arabic-Support?
Again sridharrn suggests that Indian Firmware for X10 Mini Pro supports Devanagri and Bengali Script out of the box. (http://sridharrn.wordpress.com/2010/10/07/indian-languages-on-andriod/#comment-36)
So I was wondering if some one could devise a hack that could enable the Cyangenmod (minicm) to support Devanagri and Bengali in browser.
This is how the present rendering look like:

And if suitable, could this thread be moved to the dev forum?
We need Bengali support on Android 2.2. XDA devs please help.
yes yes i too want complex script rendering for indian languges on my android.... please help us xda devs... plss plss plssss...
yea..we all bengali really need bengali support for ur android ... really appreciate if anyone help us.. thx ..
I also need bangla support in android. Anybody please help us to get the solution.
we need devs to look up for this problem. Only a build of CM7 Pro based on the X10 Mini Pro Indian rom could solve the problem...
there were many scripts available in Official Latest update for SE mini
it even showed Sindhi script which is rarely showed
it supported to type Arabic, Persian and other scipts
CM version still supports Arabic but not completely
i saw samsung ace firmware supported Urdu too
it will be nice for porting 2.1 language database to CM7 but lets hope developers do it, i am not a programmer otherwise i would do it
Can any of the users who have an indian vanilla firmware of X10 Mini pro please post an image of their firmware here? We could compare it with a UK firmware and try to figure out which of the files are different
is the Singapore version indian? this thread has the singapore version:

what do you want to compare
i have firmware backed up but in sin format
here is the Link
hei Xda devs, do something.

If some can port or provide solution for CM users that would be really help full. Replacing Droidsansfallback method will not solve completely. Device should support complex script render.
Developers.. please throw some light here.

Dear friend! How on earth is arabic not fully supported in ICS! It is fully supported while all previous versions weren't!
I use arabic everyday and it works just perfect!
Sent from another Galaxy S2 using XDA Premium App
Well lets start
1- if you open a Flash Player, and run any Arabic SWF file you will see all word backward and the letter are separated.
2- if you went to the Messages , and type an arabic message 2 or 3 lines , try to select any word , you will see the selector will jump around , you will be more than lucky if you can catch the word

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2-(some times) if you type an arabic line , the typing indicator will remain ate the beginning of the line
3- if you open your contact list , in my case i have more than 1000 contact , it will take up to 10 sec to show the page !
4-if you decide to change your Arabic ICS font "ROOT is need" this change want affect the browser / Gmail / Google Reader.
ayhamx360 . Thank you , i am from Syria to please email me
my email is "beshoo" on Gmail.
Is there any specific reason you want to go back to JPKG5?
Sammobile doesn't have KG5 listed, but there is JPKG2.

[Q] Framework-res translation

Sorry if this post is in wrong category.
I want to translate JB Framework into my language and it is successful when compile/decompile.
I change the translation in framework-res/res/values/string.xml (as highlight).
I just want to change month and day into my language.
and then re-compile and replace the original one.
After I restart, there is nothing change.
but when I decompile this framework-again, I saw in my language.
Why? or this translation is not in framework-res.apk?

I use RootBox2.9 JB.
Notepad++ (save as UTF8)
No idea, but i bump your thread. Maybe theres another xml file in conflict with that one?
What language is that?
AFAIK, there are 2 "strains" of JB firmwares: one with all the western languagues (all of Europe, N/C/S-America, etc + Russia and a few others, including some middle-east) and another with all the middle-east and eastern languages.
Basically, there is no need to translate the framework, because chances are it already has your language.
all you need is to choose your language in Settings -> Input & Language & Language.

Cambodia, right?
If you use any ROM from Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonedia, Malaysia, etc, you'll have your language built-in.
If you use any western ROMs (like Europe, for example) you don't get your language.

This is the same model that we all have (GT-I8552, mine has that 'B' letter because of my country, but is still the same model). The bootloader is unlocked, you can flash the firmware directly through Odin. Same for CWM.

Thanks bro
But My friend had tried this ( flash with another region firmwares) but he phone bricked
Anybody has tried too root this version an delete csc folder in order to add arabic or ather lanquage?
You can do like this: you download the firmware you want to flash and the original firmware. You flash the desired firmware; if it doesn't boot (and I think this won't happen) you flash again the original firmware, so your device will still work
Still waiting for a solution...
I cant flash any other rom.. Im not noob... But it should be a way to add arabic or italian or other languages to this phone...
